Gery’s spear finally finds the mark, penetrating deep into the demon’s worm-like body. Finnius finishes the creature off with two well-placed strikes, and the demon that called itself Dakang slumps to the ichor-stained floor unmoving. It isn’t long before the worshipers of Korada come to investigate, and they are stunned by the revelations of the Pathfinders! With the body of the demon and what remains of the priest’s corpse (appearing like a snake’s shed skin) in addition to the other lies they have uncovered, the followers of Korada are convinced that they have been duped by a great evil. The now freed inhabitants of the temple are grateful to the Pathfinders and they vow to spend their lives unraveling Korada’s teachings from Dakang’s vile perversions.
After returning to Absalom by touching the glowing spheres that follow each of the Pathfinders around like obedient dogs, they are met by Aram Zey, who acknowledges the fine work they have done (though just barely, and with just a touch of ‘you could have done better’ in his tone) within the Hao Jin tapestry.
