Jayma Thornfiddle
Jayma follows Marine through the door and pauses short of the rickety plank bridge when the centaur lacks the room to advance further. Her nose crinkles in distaste as the stench from the passing sewer water wafts up to her.
"I would greatly appreciate it if we weren't to dawdle overmuch in this area." She looks down at the strange green-tinted waste passing by below her and shivers at the thought of falling into that stew. Reading her mind, Twyl emits a short sharp screech and dives into her sleeves.
GM Super Zero
Lazarus finds no sign of any trap. The door is locked, but the key the ockomlires showed the party opens the way, revealing... 10 more feet of hallway and then another, seemingly identical door. Perhaps multiple layers of doors are to protect against flooding? Or the stench.
Dr. Lazarus
Knowing how much the area is affecting Jayma's delicate constitution, Dr. Lazarus says, "Onward! and continues moving forward: checking for traps, unlocking doors, opening them, and peering inside.
GM Super Zero
The second door is bypassed in much the same way. Beyond it lies another identical door, 10 feet away.
Assuming you keep at it...
The third door opens onto a room. This twenty-foot-high chamber’s marble walls are decorated with carvings of masked angels facing upward to a stained glass ceiling. What appears to be moonlight filters through the glass, dimly illuminating the room. Three curving banks of stone planters display tangled swaths of rose bushes in full bloom, but these plants seem to grow from piles of humanoid bones instead of soil. A circular reflecting pool shimmers in the room’s center, surrounded by eight marble pillars carved to depict skeletal masked angels.
Lazarus detects people hiding behind the pillars and planters.
Dr. Lazarus
Upon reaching the large chamber, Dr. Lazarus studies the room. With religious architecture being among the many, many things he considers himself well-versed, he rubs his elven chin and considers.
Religion +coffee, DC 20: 1d20 + 22 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 22 + 3 = 39
The Doctor goes into lecture mode. "My colleagues. If you look carefully, you'll see plants sprouting from humanoid points. Your keen eyes no doubt observe the carved masked angels above." He pauses for effect and concludes, "The room is a blasphemous parody of Shelyn, possibly meant to hide the actual style of Norgorber."
He harrumphs. "Not very subtle, if you ask me."
Suddenly aware of people hiding, he calls out. "Greetings. No need to hide. We're looking for Lady Wormwood. Won't you come out and tell us about this place."
Jayma Thornfiddle
As Lazarus eases open the third door, Jayma feels the change in the air suggesting a larger chamber beyond. Marine's large equine body blocks much of her view, but the pale moonlight pouring down through the stained glass above allows her to see some of the room's contents and architecture... though not enough to properly analyze.
She is happy when Thurston shares his findings about the room's connections to Shelyn and Norgorber, though less happy when he calls out to the people hiding in the shadows. Twyl stiffens slightly and chitters nervously. Jayma tries to calm him, but she too is now on full alert and a little magic starts to gather at her fingertips, just in case. "Why do I not think this is a welcoming committee."
Callistro the Magnificent
From the back of the group Callistro cranes his neck to peer ahead. What's going on, what can you see. Is there someone in there? Are they friendly?
GM Super Zero
They are, it transpires, not.
They reveal themselves. Judging by the horns, it seems they're all fiend-blooded nephilim, or at least they were once. Currently their skin is tight, dry, and dead gray, and their mouths and empty eye sockets glow with malevolent red light. They all wear leather armor and clutch nasty-looking daggers.
And now that they're made, they all raise those daggers and start to move to attack.
The doctor recognizes these as wights, intelligent undead spawned through inescapable cycles of spite. This spite might come from their own malevolent will in life, as is likely true in this case as these previously murdered or executed gang members have arisen with their loyalty to the Graverobbers intact, but it can also spread to those killed by wights.
Specifically, these are prowler wights, one of the more powerful forms of the creatures. A wight's claws can drain life, though the more powerful forms are bound to weapons they wielded in life and their powers also work with those weapons. They are quick, but their single-minded spitefulness means they aren't as hardy against mental attacks.
That's a critical success. Best defense is Reflex, worst is Will.

With every square she moved through being difficult terrain (except for the enemy's square if she critically succeeded), Marine needed every bit of speed to get to where she is.
Now finally in the room, with her back left hoof standing on planter boxes, Marine is still rather uncomfortable.
"Yes, this is still quite constraining. No, I don't care. Come and face me, fools! I can beat you all with one hand behind my back." She crows out a challenge to the undead adversaries.
Marine sets up her Dueling Dance by holding her sword in the air in an exaggerated Dueling Parry, her free hand behind her back.

Marine sails past the first wight as though he wasn't there. She steps into the planter, and immediately realizes something off--she doesn't feel the roses brush against her.
She pierces the illusion, and sees that the room is mostly empty—only the planter boxes (empty), pool (likewise empty), and pillars (plainly carved) are real; she also notes the stone doors to the west and north that the illusion otherwise hides.
And while she's there she slices deeply into one of the undead horrors.
Rolled your save to disbelieve off-site, so it wasn't obvious there was one in case of failure. But you succeeded.
That's a critically successful Tumble. And a crit, which bloodies Pink.
Another of the wights moves up to her, siddling past her to get into flanking position. This is a mistake, as it provides the centaur an opportunity to take a swipe at him as well. He sticks her with his dagger once. He seems to gain some strength from the stolen vitality, but Marine is too tough to notice any apparent ill effect. He tries to stab her again, a move that goes very badly for him.

The creature in green shifts to a better position and jabs Marine with his knife. Again she's unaffected by their life drain. While still infused by her vitality, the wight also steps more tactically and moves back out of Marine's reach.

Jayma is a little disappointed that her lightning spell hadn't done more damage before fizzling out. She watches as Thurston repeatedly strikes at the wight in front of him (quite likely killing it) and spots three of the remaining wights nicely grouped in the background. A faint smile crosses her lips. "Let's see how they fare against fire."
With a slight tweak of her magic, the sparks at her fingertips turn into small flames and coalesce into a ball of fire which she then tosses behind the three clustered wights and watches as the expanding explosion engulfs them but leaves Marine unscathed. Then, with a flick of her wrist, she refreshes her personal pink force field.
Boom!

The party begins to move into the room to investigate and prepare.
They don't make it far, however. Less than 10 seconds after the final wight falls, the sound of someone screaming in anguish across a vast distance quickly evolves into a shrill howl of pain as it fills the room. A moment later, an unsettlingly familiar shape manifests.
It's him, though he isn't the massive, larger-than-life figure the party encountered at the Choke. Swirly appears as he did in life, pointing at the adventurers. “I have found you! I am Pain. I am Torment. I am the Fulcrum of Blissful Suffering. I am also your legacy—born from the anguish caused by your conflict with your great enemy. I felt you as you struck down my shadow in that dusty old cavern, but now I stand before you in the tormented flesh, and now you will taste the fruits of that torment!”
That... doesn't really sound like him. Nor does it look like him after all. The creature’s shape distorts and transforms into a massive, malformed head from which sickly hooked limbs dangle. It's open mouth, full of far too many sharp teeth, hangs open as if screaming.
It opens its mouth even wider to scream, but Marine reacts more quickly...

Dr. Lazarus realizes he's looking at a siktempora, in particular an anguish siktempora. These creatures hail from the Dimension of Time, embodiments of a single strong emotion (in this case, anguish). Siktemporas can be born when a creature traveling through the Dimension of Time, or magically manipulating time, is feeling an intense emotion. More commonly they're created when a sufficient mass of an emotion builds up, such as when some event causes many people to experience the same intense emotion.
Siktemporas can be created from positive emotions, but are often caused by some horrific event... the widespread anguish caused by Swirly's actions before the party thwarted him, for example.
He knows that it can be difficult to physically inflict lasting jury on such creatures, although it can be done with the right starmetal. Attacking them non-physically can also work.
This might end up being moot for you since it's something your party does incidentally, but in theory it's something you'd definitely want to know, so... it has Regeneration which is defeated by orichalcum, spirit damage, or mental damage.

He then brings up a magical shield.

Callistro the Magnificent
Callistro glares at the new "not" Swirly. Look you, we've beaten you twice now, isnt it about time you just stayed dead?
With that he taps his staff on the ground and conjures a ball of dark grey light. With a twist of his wrist he sends it flying at the monstrosity which is quickly enveloped.

Marine Masquerade Marinelle
Marine advances on the retreating aberration.
"No more tricks. No more games, quips or magic. I'm cutting every bit of Swirly's influence out from this world - starting with that big head of yours!" She cries out as she grabs at the creature's spindly legs - executing two Snagging Strikes.

GM Super Zero
As Callistro's spell hits, an anguished scream fills the room that fades away as the giant head disintegrates into dust.
That's a crit, of course. Fortitude: 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (16) + 24 = 40 Success -> Failure. The resist all from the flicker spell reduces the damage... but that's still more than enough.
Each of the adventurers feels as if a sudden weight they hadn’t known they’d been carrying had been lifted from their shoulders as they realize that this last remnant of their old foe—the villain’s anguish—has been defeated.
A sudden feeling of elation, hope, and energy infuses them, as if they’d just woken from a glorious night of restful sleep.
Everyone gains the effects of a full night's rest and new daily prep. You can make new choices for this prep, in which case you initially perceive it as taking the usual hour but then realize no time has passed.

Callistro the Magnificent
Callistro lazily stretches as the not Swirly vanishes into a small pile of dust. Well, that was cathartic he says with a grin. He glances round the room, Is there anything of interest here or should we press on?
Dr. Lazarus
Dr. Lazarus enjoys the sudden feeling of rejuvenation. Examining the situation, the Doctor asks Marine, "How are you feeling?" Already knowing the answer, he sets up shop and prepares to tend to her remaining wounds.
Treat Wounds (master) DC 30: 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (7) + 24 = 31
Damage Healed +master +medic: 2d8 + 30 + 10 ⇒ (4, 5) + 30 + 10 = 49
Pleased with his work, as he typically is, he announces, "Good as new. Now let's take a look around." He helps the group search the place.
Search with Perception +28 (+24, +2 goggles, +2 lead).
Jayma Thornfiddle
As she'd predicted, the giant head succumbed quickly to their attacks, even without her usual help. "It appears that Swirly has an infinite army of doppelgangers at his disposal with which to torment us. I fear it will do him little good in the end."
She then continues the search of the room that had been so rudely interrupted by the faux Swirly's appearance.

Marine Masquerade Marinelle
"Ahhh...That felt so much better! It's great when the enemies pose no threat so you can just slice and spell them to death...it's quite therapeutic."
Marine digs around in her satchel to find that another coffee has spontaneously appeared.
"Here, Doc! In case you were running out..." She hands over another cup of coffee.
Daily preparations will remain the same as before. Marine spends her 10 minutes taking a break and enjoying the thrill of the last two fights.
Dr. Lazarus
As Dr. Lazarus is packing up his healers tools, he gladly accepts another of Marine's delicious coffees. "My dear, I'll keep treating you, if you keep providing the refreshments!"
After searching, Lazarus takes a few civilized moments to savor his coffee, just before taking his position in front of the northern (not to be confused with the eastern) door. While the group is gathering, the Doctor listens and checks for traps.
GM Super Zero
There doesn't seem to be anything else in this room, or any sign of danger from the northern door. Everything seems quiet.
