Do you mean to pass through the non-secret door, or do you mean to use the secret level?

![]() |

I think he meant we should use the secret lever. It's sometimes a little confusing to get back into the swing of a game after being told it was ending! :-P
Miriam pulls the lever.

DM Kludde |

The lever moves with little effort, and a discordant metal sound >bwoing< sounds in the distance, as if detuning a metal spring. The double doors lead into a steep staircase, that descends into the depths of Cassomir's under city. At the end of the stairs is another double door.

![]() |

"Wow...that looks very creepy," Taliesin says. "I hope it's not dirty or stinky down there."
The beautiful blonde tosses her majestic hair as she moves toward the stairs.
"Shall we?"

![]() |

"Yes, let's go. I'll lead the way."

Tall vaulted ceilings disappear into darkness high above as candles and torches barely illuminate the lower reaches of this room. Along the west wall are three cell doors, thick wooden affairs bracketed by solid steel bracings with small, six-inch- square windows set high in them. Enormous crates, barrels, and sacks of goods are stacked neatly in the southeastern corner of the room. The floor is clean granite, etched with a wavy- line pattern that permeates throughout the entire room; the design even climbs the walls and disappears into the vaults above. A rat-shaped chalk drawing dominates the floor in the center of the room, clearly depecting a dire rat leaning forward as if to pounce.
Standing among the barrels is a weathered man, wearing clothes of obvious nobility. His eyes are empty and full of hatred. Next to him is a creature he seem to be controlling in some fashion, an undead abomination of leathery, dried-out skin under rotten vestment. Mouth open in a silent scream, it raises a bony finger and points at the party.

“Glory follows afflictions, not as the day follows the night but as the spring follows the winter; for the winter prepares the earth for the spring, so do afflictions sanctified prepare the soul for glory.”
Begin Inspire Courage. Everyone remember that with the banner and Inspire Courage, you all have +2 attack and +2 damage!

As Taliesin talks of the weather and crashing lightning, confusion sets in. Zoren cuts himself with his knife, and Tarlon smacks himself with a branch.
Damage, Zoren: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Miriam shakes off the effect, and attack the undead with her scythe, and although she hits, the effect is minimal. Reginald lands a solid stab on the undead as well, but again, the putrid flesh of the desiccated monster seems oddly resistant to his efforts.

DM Kludde |

Tarlon slams the heucuva as tries to get up, and smashes the undead up good. Miraculously, it still keeps moving, turns it evil eyes towards Tarlon, and readies for the kill, just as Reginald's halberd catches the monster off-guard, and ends the threat.
As Zoren wounds himself, Gilthanis is no part of the madness, and steps up to fill the gap that the undead left. Slightly too hasty, though, he cuts at the mad priest Dalirio, and misses.
Dalirio Teppish, the proud Taldan, doesn't admit defeat at the fall of his crony, and releases a wave of pure negative energy.

DM Kludde |

In a last ditch effort, Miriam puts her full force behind the scythe, and in one fell blow cuts down the evil cleric. Tarlon sympathetically swipes along with her, and once the two are done, nothing much is left of the cleric but a maimed corpse.
Combat over!
A groaning noise can be heard from behind the cell doors to the south.

Reginald takes the full brunt of the cleric's negative energy, but that is quickly offset by Gilthanis's positive energy.
"There must be prisoners here. Fear not! We are here to rescue you!" Eager to play the role of hero, Reg rifles through the fallen enemies' possessions, looking for a key or the like.

DM Kludde |

Reginald find a set of keys on the fallen priest, and is able to open the cells door with them. The cells are packed full of Cassomirites of all stripes. Among them is the missing Pathfinder Cestis, who is alive but appears to have been badly beaten.
The prisoners, in poor shape, are grateful to have been rescued. It was horrible Cestis relates [b]there were humanoids, with dark or grey skin, enormous grey eyes. They frequently came to talk with Dalirio. Every so often, they would come in, look to bargain, and then take off with a handful of captives...
...and that brings us to the end of part I. I believe your session has already been reported, and you already have your chronicles. If not, let me know and I'll see what I can do.

![]() |

Excellently run, Kludde, as always! Thanks for jumping in on that one for us!

![]() |

Thanks for saving the scenario, Kludde! It definitely gave it more closure, especially where we had done so much of it! Sure appreciate it!
"I will be sure to sing the praises of each of you valiant and heroic Pathfinders! Your tales will be fresh on every lip, and cups will raise to toast your honor! It has been a pleasure adventuring with you! Yes, even with you, Miriam, though you rolled your eyes at me a few times, I am used to it. I wish you and your little tree pal all the best of luck!"
Taliesin curtsies with a majestic flourish.
"I could REALLY use a bath," she adds to no one in particular. "And a foot massage. Goodbye, noble heroes!"

![]() |

My chronicle was incomplete when I received it. It was missing the amount of prestige and gold I was to receive. I would appreciate if you could help with that Kludde.
"Yes. Goodbye everyone. Hopefully we can see each other again later on down the road."

DM Kludde |

Okay, can one (or both) of you send me a link to your chronicle? I'll see what I can do to fix it

DM Kludde |

I'm fine with that. You can always point pointy question askers to this thread...
