Miriam stands back, letting the big melee manly men take point on the grates. :-P

Zoren starts applauding. "I figured you might need a hand, Regi."

"Hah! How about giving us two hands to open this grate." Reginald joins Gilthanis by the top grate ready to proceed through.

"Good work! I love when we work as a team," Taliesin cheers.

She moves to look into the hold below.

Apologies to all, reviewing the second boat map there is a door to the aft room:
These finely appointed quarters contain a desk, a chair, a bed, and some chests, all of which have been screwed to the deck. A single lit lamp rests on the deck and illuminates the room completely. When you open the door to this room it provides the deck with shadowy illumination. Searching the room diligently offers you no reward.

After you drop down to the next deck all silently observe the six large ballistae housed here, screwed to the deck and mounted on rails so they can be pushed through the swinging doors on the side of the hull and fired at nearby ships. There is no ammunition present for these weapons, however and the deck is empty. The southwest corner of the room contains an open trap door that’s a 7-foot drop down to the next level.

Please make stealth checks, of course you are being stealthy...

"We should go down to the next level," Taliesin whispers earnestly. "But where is everyone?"

Stealth: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
"I don't see why you are whispering. No one seems to be here."

Miriam stealth: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11
Tarlon stealth: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

Miriam and Tarlon are not very stealthy...

"I like to whisper," Taliesin whispers in Zoren's ear before pointing toward the next level down.

Stealth: 1d20 + 2 - 3 ⇒ (8) + 2 - 3 = 7. "Wait, what are you all saying?" says Reginald rather loudly.

Miriam rolls her eyes once more at Taliesin's childish flirting at a time when the group should clearly be focused on the task at hand. She gets ready for the drop down to the third level with the others.

As your sneaking, or not so, around this level what do you want to do? Search or just head down?

There are three doors on this level besides the open trap door.

I vote for the doors as well.
Zoren searches this level for traps and useful items.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13 + 1 for traps.

As he hears his teammates clanking around, he doesn't bother trying to be sneaky or quiet.

I vote doors as well, after you give the go ahead. I will open them.

"Let's try that one first." Miriam says in a hushed voice, indicating the one directly to the north.

Reginald takes a quick look. If all is clear, he opens the door. Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10

Reginald and Zoren locate no life threatening traps on either of the three doors.

The aft quarters are finely appointed, containing a table, some chairs, bookshelf, and a few barrels, all of which have been screwed to the deck. A stack of papers on the table is from the ship’s former life as a slave ship for Qadira and contain manifests and records of deliveries throughout the Inner Sea. This room is dusty and dirty and doesn't appear to have been used recently.

Forward are obviously crew quarters: These simple quarters containing several recently slept-in beds and the dark lantern on the floor is hot to the touch, as if it were recently lit.

Port side door opens to stairs leading down.

"This place is giving me the creeps," Taliesin says as she examines the stack of papers and the empty room. "It's like someone is toying with us...or leading us into a trap."

perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14

"I agree, child, we need to be extra cautious."

"This lantern is hot. Someone is probably waiting for us belowdecks. I will prepare magics before we descend - you may wish to do the same."

Reginald will cast Divine Favor immediately before descending. 1 minute duration.

"Good idea, Regi! Let's get moving before it wears off!" Taliesin says as she starts moving below.

Stairs or trap door?

Reginald points to the stairs.

Taliesin moves toward the stairs with the others.

With sword drawn, Gilthanis will head down the stairs taking point.

Reginald casts divine favor immediately before descending the stairs as stated earlier.

"When I write a song about our ventures, you two brave men will play an important role...the dashing heroes running into danger," Taliesin says as she follows Gilthanis and Reginald down the stairs.

Miriam and Tarlon follow down the stairs, wary of danger.

Zoren goes down the stairs along with everyone else.

"This reminds me of this costume party I went to once," Taliesin says to break the silence.

"I wandered around my friend's house, and couldn't find anyone! I went through every room of her house, but no one was home. It turns out the party was somewhere else! I'm just glad no one saw!" she trails off.

"That would have been embarrassing!"

I gather you are going down the stairs...

This is where cargo would ordinarily be stored for passage, but aside from several empty barrels and a few broken crates, this room is empty of cargo...oh and about a dozen bound kidnapped citizens.

As you descend the stairs two half orc cultists surprise Gilthanis and Reginald! The first attacks Gilthanis, missing completely and the second scores a solid blow to Reginalds helm!

"Oh, the deeds you will do this day!" Taliesin shouts as the front line comes to blows. She holds her banner aloft as she begins her inspiring oratory.

"What dastardly subterfuge you have endured and will soon repel!"

Begin Inspire Courage...everyone has +2 attack/+2 dmg!

Gilthanis, dodges the incoming blow. He looks right at the half-Orc and delivers a swing of his own.

Gilthanis, dodging his assailant attempts to respond in kind, the deft cultist moves gracefully out of harms way.

@Gilthanis, vs. your FF due to surprise round. This is now a normal round.

@ Gilthanis: My Flagbearer feat gives +1/+1, and then inspire courage is another +1/+1.

Adding the +2 to the attack = 13 atk and 9 dmg.

Gilthanis, dodging his assailant attempts to respond in kind and smashes the half-orc in the face! The half-orc cultists takes this stoically yet falls to the ground bleeding profusely from a slightly crushed skull.

Reginald drops his guisarme, draws a silvered flail and swings at his opponent's skull, looking to return the favor!

Attack, Divine Favor, Taliesin: 1d20 + 3 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 3 + 2 + 2 = 21; Damage: 1d8 + 4 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 4 + 2 + 2 = 15

...taken by surprise after his surprising, the half-orc's head is caved in by Reginald's deadly silvered flail!

Upon studious investigation and high skill checks:

The missing Pathfinder, Cestis, was never brought here, though one of the monks took his wayfinder when they grabbed him at the relics auction.
The soon-to-be slaves shackled in the hold can all be unshackled using the key ring one of the monks is carrying.

They all admit they were treated well and only ever heard their captors speak in Orc, though they kept saying the name “Luscilia” during their conversation.

"I was hoping we would find our missing Pathfinder here," Taliesin says.

She speaks to the rescued slaves.

"Is there anything else you can tell us about Cestis or your captors?"

Saddened that he was unable to participate in this fight, a voice from above broke him out of his sadness. "A female is on deck calling to the orcs for her slaves."

"Let's attempt to take her by surprise," Miriam whispers to the others. She then tries sneaking back up the stairs, along with Tarlon.

Tarlon stealth: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

While Miriam is fairly quiet, Tarlon's footsteps are still fairly loud.

Reginald applies his wand to bring himself back to good health. 46 charges left.

"Indeed, I'm looking forward to meeting this Luscilla." Reginald heads up, not particularly concerned about making noise given that the woman was expecting a bunch of slaves to be marching up. Stealth: 1d20 + 2 - 3 ⇒ (3) + 2 - 3 = 2

Taliesin follows her companions back up the stairs.

She yells out her best impersonation of an orc grunt of acknowledgment, though she does not speak orc.

bluff: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19

"Ha! That was a pretty good impersonation!" she whispers, "if I say so myself!"

While below deck, you continue to hear the woman scream obscenities demanding that “her orcs” report to the deck at once. Listening a bit longer, she screams: “I’m bringing a crew in tonight and we’re sailing this thing out of here tomorrow. You better not be down there beating my slaves to death!”
