Fortitude: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Once again, Samuels strong stomach prevails and he charges in alongside his allies, hoping to make himself the main target of their foes.
"It'll take more than a foul smell to stop this Andoran!"
Samuel swings down with his longsword at the nearest troglodyte.
Longsword: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 241d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Longsword Crit Confirmation: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 221d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
That Troglodyte is in a world of pain!
Revvy Bitterleaf |
Lilly's arrow doesn't strike true, gagging while shooting doesn't seem to help.
I've moved Lilly into the room, since she couldn't shoot from behind the staircase through the door opening at anything
Samuel how ever is able to overcome the stench easily and takes one might swing at one of the troglodytes almost cleaving it in half from shoulder to thigh.
In return one troglodyte steps up to Zahir and attacks in a flurry
Club vs Zahir AC: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20 Damage if hit: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Claw vs Zahir AC: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (1) - 3 = -2
Bite vs Zahir AC: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (10) - 3 = 7
While in another area of the room the other remaining Troglodyte tries to do the same against Samuel while blinking to get the sparks out of his eyes

Club vs Samuel AC: 1d20 - 4 ⇒ (20) - 4 = 16

Ezekias Silverthane |
Ezekias rushes in and attacks the trog near Khabash.
Rapier: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12 Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Revvy Bitterleaf |
Both Khabash and Ezekias attacks fail to deal any damage,Khabash's club bounces of the trog's thick skull and Ezekias rapier almost bends over before returning to it's normal state as it hits against the troglodyt's thick scales with some force behind it.
Just remembered I didn't roll for Zahir's miss chance in case the attack hit, not sure if he should roll or I should..so rolling just in case 1-20 is miss: 1d100 ⇒ 85
Samuel Deland |
Revvy, one of those clubs against Samuel was a natural 20, so although it can't critcal due to not being able to hit his AC, a natural 20 is always a hit, so that swing does some damage.
Zahir Hor-Akim |
Yes, the 20 was a hit, so I take 2 points of damage
Without moving, Zahir strikes the troglodyte who has just wounded him.
Attack mace: 1d20 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (1) + 4 - 2 = 3
Damage: 1d6 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 - 2 = 6
Revvy Bitterleaf |
@Samuel, thanks for reminding me. I'll admit..I just looked at the end result and not at the actual roll..downside of having a diceroller instead of a die.
To confirm (I might get another 20: 1d20 - 4 ⇒ (19) - 4 = 15
Damage for Samuel: 1d4 ⇒ 2
Zahir fails to lands a blow with his mace.

This adventure doesn't really give a lot of space for controlling the battle field, does it? Ok, largely because I need to find a way to contribue, Velinov will cast Silent Image.
From the other room, the party hears Velinov chanting a spell, "Wingardium Leviosa!". Suddenly the sheets from the bunks jerk upright and come alive, darting through the air in an erratic yet graceful manor, circling around the troglodytes before plunging down and engulfing them like primitive costumes.
Velinov will keep the "sheets" just around the trogs but not actually touching them (maybe an inch or two spacing, but certainly focusing on keeping them moving around them. This should keep them blinded while making them look like wrapped pinatas for everyone to hit?
lilly moonshine |
Lilly looks fiercely at her bow.
Jag kommer att bränna dig
She then looks at the foul creature and releases an arrow.

Samuel grunts as the club luckily connects past his shield. Invigourated by his success so far,the warrior swings down at his attacker with his longsword.
Longsword: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 221d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Another possible crit, when it rains it pours.
Longsword Crit Confirm: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 41d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
And a natural 1, guess my luck's run out.
Revvy Bitterleaf |
Samuels is able to damage the troglodyte he's fighting against with a luck shot taking him out.
In return the remaining troglodyte tries to get revenge on your party. Thinking Zahir is the easiest to hit he goes to town in a flurry of attacks
Club vs Zahir AC:: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Claw vs Zahir AC:: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (14) - 3 = 11
Bite vs Zahir AC:: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (8) - 3 = 5
But all of his attacks bounces harmlessly of Zahir's armor Not going to bother with miss chance from the sheets as none of the blows are able to connect hard enough to do damage anyways

Khabash moves to distract the trog so that Zahir has a better shot at it, landing a swing of his own but maybe not getting through its armor.

...and succeeds only in hopefully distracting the trog.
Velinov |
Just curious, but why did the trogs roll for saves? Are they assumed to have interacted with it by trying to rip off the cloth/move the sheets?
Also, I forgot to roll the fort save vs. stench earlier to save time if they move up:
fort: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12

@Velinov when you have a sheet floating about an inch away from you while your dodging and deflecting left and right in the middle of combat I find it kind of hard to not imaging them interacting with it, so that's why I gave them a will save,my interpretation..but I think any type of movement when you're covered in something will mean you're interacting with it. I just rolled it first chance I had instead of when they actually did anything to it because it's easier to remember that way
Zahir's and Khabash their attacks are unable to deal damage due to the creatues though skin..but due to the fact that he can't see Zahir's mace coming it hits it in it's mouth..knocking out some teeth, dropping it to the floor

Samuel Deland |
Samuel nods.
"A little bruised, but I've survived worse."
A brief memory of his near death experience against the minotaur at the foot of the nearby mountains flashes through the Andorans mind, but is quickly pushed from his thoughts.
Zahir Hor-Akim |
Once the stress of the fight has passed, Zahir can speak again normally. "Seems this tower is the new lair of a tribe of troglodytes", he says after a while. "Wouldn't it be more prudent to go and see the rooms downstairs before continuing at this floor ?"
Velinov |
@Revvy - ok. I just saw the rolls but didn't have context so I thought I'd ask.
"Sure. No point getting cornered between something above and something below. Besides, we may find something to help with the stench."
Ezekias Silverthane |
Excellent idea, Zahir.
Do the doors open in or out? Is there any way to bar them closed from this side? How about the door to the stairs?
Samuel Deland |
Samuel chuckles about Velinovs comment.
"The best way to deal with the stench is a strong stomach, my friend. A few months in barracks with sweaty soldiers will give you that."
Ensuring his equipment is all accounted for, Samuel readies to move on.
"We can clear further down if you like, but if there were more of these creatures down there I imagine they would have already made their move. They don't seem the most tactically sound enemies."
Ezekias Silverthane |
Hey, can we move these bunks to block the doors closed? Then we won't be surprised from behind, and if they wake up we'll hear them pounding on the door.
Ezekias Silverthane |
Ezekias (and anyone who will help) will quickly attempt to move two bunks blocking each of the side doors, hopefully without making too much noise.
Zahir Hor-Akim |
Zahir gives Ezekias a hand to move the bunks (assuming NE and SE doors) and goes back down to the temple of Nethys. Here, he tries to find a door or a secret passage.
If possible, I take 20 for a 19 on perception
Ezekias Silverthane |
Yes that's correct. Just going to block those doors before going back downstairs.
Velinov |
I believe that means we're moving to the 3rd floor with the last door that masks the last half of the foils? Since most folks are away this weekend/on npc mode, perhaps it's safe to say the standard party order to the door?
Ezekias Silverthane |
I thought we had some unexplored areas downstairs. My thought was just to prevent being ambushed from behind.
Khabash |
"Zahir, have you much experience at searching tombs? Do not take it amiss if I, also, examine the temple area before we continue." Khabash takes 20 for a total of 26, or 27 if there's a trap to be found.
Zahir Hor-Akim |
Zahir smiles a bit at Khabash. "when I was younger, I liked to search tombs but I was never able to find traps or secret doors. It's a matter of concentration I suppose. It was my friends who managed to find and disarm it then." He looks at the locked door the alchemist just discovered. "Can you open it?"
Khabash |
"Probably, but Lilly is better at locks than I am." The alchemist passes his good tool set back over to the rogue and lets her get to work on the door. The lock baffles him to the point where he can't help her at all. "Don't open the door until we're all back down here, in case there's another enemy back there."
Aid Another check from Khabash: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
Lilly lockpick, incl. mw tools bonus: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 8 + 2 = 21
Khabash |
"If we are not disturbed, she can take some time to open the door. Lilly, does it seem to be beyond your abilities?" That is, does she think she can open it if she takes 20?
Velinov |
@Khabash, @Revvy - Just a reminder that Lilly said that she will be out for a week. I believe that Revvy will have to step in for the response.
