As Caoilte snoozes away, Arklore sends a forcebolt into the orc, causing him to spin twards TArek. The divine touched oracle takes advantage of the opening, splitting the orc open with a wicked slice of his curved blade. The orc collapses, blood pooling around the body.
Out of combat.
The Archons are able to wake up Caoilte and look about the chamber.
Lead sheets line portions of the stone walls, floor, and ceiling of this damp chamber; many more sheets lie on the floor, bent. Arcane runes are inscribed on the stone. Patches of fungal growth are fed by a slow trickle of water dripping into the room’s cracked ceiling.
Isador finds many useful items among the orc's effects.
potion of cure serious wounds, war paint of the terrible visage; +1 deathless bone studded leather, cloak of resistance +1, 395 gp.

![]() |

I suggest we feed Caoilte that potion if we are short on divine healing!!....somebody should wear that cloak...and perhaps the war paint....the studded leather armor is of good quality....

![]() |

I would suggest holding on to that potion for now. We may need it's potent healing ability deeper in these catacombs. I can use a minor healing to aid Caoilte
Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Tarek looks around the room
These markings and the lead plates are unusual. I wonder what their purpose was?
Tarek will use read magic to see if any of the markings make sense and he will also use detect magic to see if there are any lingering auras in addition to the magic items that were found

GM Brew |

Tarek heals Caoilte using his divine powers. He scans the room but finds no other magical aura. Clearly, the orc the party faced was tougher than most, indicating there is something of value somewhere in the temple. Could is be the crypt of the fallen hero?
The Archons continue to search the abandoned temple. They encounter a troubling bit of green slime that Isador is able to steer the group clear of before coming to the last part of the dwarven ruin. As they search, Tarek's wayfinder begins to detect an aura of evil emanating from a central chamber of the ruin...
Actions?

GM Brew |

The Archons move into the next room to face down the danger detected by Tarek. The chamber opens up into what appears to be a makeshift barracks or sorts, dirty mattresses lining the floor. As Caoilte steps into the chamber he is greeted by another large orc with holding a very serious short bow. The orc is briefly outlined by a shimmering aura and glares at Caoile with hatred as he enters the chamber...

GM Brew |

Ark, as Caoilte's actions fires off first, he rushes in to engage the orc and your web spell would encompass him. As Ark would see this, you may re post his action. If you still wish to cast, please include your save DC.
Caoilte rushes in to engage the orc. His axe misses the deft brute.

Iasador tries to plug the orc with an arrow but again misses the mark. No doubt the near evisceration of Caoilte unnerving the rogue some.
Tarek needs to post his action for round 2, the Ark up before orc's next turn.

As I watch my comrades pull back, I work to buy them extra time and I now Cast my "WEB" spell at the Orc having the web land in front of Tarek and spreading out toward the orc.

GM Brew |

Arklore tries to slow down the deadly orc scout by conjuring a sticky web from the ether that surrounds the orc and its immediate ares. The brute tries to struggle against the spell's effects...
The orc is able to avoid being stuck by the web. The orc growls and cuts his dropped bow out the web, retrieves it, then moves back into the chamber to the east, placing the web between himself and the party. He manages to escape the web and looks back , knocking an arrow. The orc growls in frustration as the web obscures the view of his targets.
The web gives the orc total cover from the party and cannot be targeted. Still in combat, so post moves and actions as normal. Please note web spoiler below. If anyone moved into the webbed area they must make a CMB or Escape artist check v DC 16 or become grappled. Also, the web is considered difficult terrain.

EFFECT

Effect webs in a 20-ft.-radius spread

Saving Throw Reflex negates; see text; Spell Resistance no
DESCRIPTION
Web creates a many-layered mass of strong, sticky strands. These strands trap those caught in them. The strands are similar to spiderwebs but far larger and tougher. These masses must be anchored to two or more solid and diametrically opposed points or else the web collapses upon itself and disappears. Creatures caught within a web become grappled by the sticky fibers. Attacking a creature in a web doesn’t cause you to become grappled.
Anyone in the effect’s area when the spell is cast must make a Reflex save. If this save succeeds, the creature is inside the web but is otherwise unaffected. If the save fails, the creature gains the grappled condition, but can break free by making a combat maneuver check or Escape Artist check as a standard action against the DC of this spell. The entire area of the web is considered difficult terrain. Anyone moving through the webs must make a combat maneuver check or Escape Artist check as part of their move action, with a DC equal to the spell’s DC. Creatures that fail lose their movement and become grappled in the first square of webbing that they enter.
If you have at least 5 feet of web between you and an opponent, it provides cover. If you have at least 20 feet of web between you, it provides total cover.
The strands of a web spell are flammable. A flaming weapon can slash them away as easily as a hand brushes away cobwebs. Any fire can set the webs alight and burn away one 5-foot square in 1 round. All creatures within flaming webs take 2d4 points of fire damage from the flames.

Tarek takes a full move action and moves into the room behind Isador and with Arklore but he will move out of view of the orc
Taking advantage of the chaos caused by the web, Tarek moves into the adjacent room to regroup.
Speaking softly once everyone is together Can we attack this brute from two sides? So far, our assault is not going in our favor. Any thoughts on the next plan of attack?

![]() |

Tarek looks closely at Caoilte's wounds
I do not think that last healing spell patched you up as much as I had hoped. Before we take action, let me try to call forth some divine healing once more.

Friends that big brute is not going to go away......wanting to conserve what magic I have left I unsling my crossbow and see if I can get a hot on the Orc...If I can...I i will.

![]() |

These rooms all seem to be interconnected. Can we get in behind it and attack from both sides? If we can't then I say try burning the web and the rest of us continue our assault on the orc. We can't fire through the web but we can prepare ourselves for battle

![]() |

The webs can be burned....and anyone caught in the webs will suffer burns as well...we can burn them, though I recommend that whatever action we take, we do not separate the party...that always seems to go..badly.

Isador attempts to plant an arrow in the scout. Com'on. He tracks the orcs movements before releasing the arrow.

Let's get this over with. Ark, can you burn the web so the rest of us can charge in? I am moving in so let's get into place
Tarek casts Divine Favor
Tarek readies his chakram for a ranged attack and moves into the room while avoiding the web

GM Brew |

Botting
Caoilte shakes off the damage done by the orc with the aid of Tarek, he is unsure of his next move as the webbing stands in his way of the orc.
Isador releases tension on his bow as he is unable to target the orc through the webs. He gathers with the Archons to plan their next course of action.
Ark tries to figure out their next move.
The party can see the hazy figure of the orc through the webs. He retreats into the next chamber and the group loses sight of him!

I can dispell the webs or we can burn them.....and get after his hide to track the scout .....or perhaps we leave the webs up...and see if we cannot ambush his is stinking hide!!

![]() |

well easy enough!! I pull a torch out of my bag and a flask of oil....I put a bit on the torch to make sure it lights fast....I then...splaash the oil on the webs.....light he torch with my flint and steel kit...amnd the then set the webs afire...taking steps back.
mmm now there is a FIRE!!
I make sure I am dar enough back to not get smoke inhalation or burned.

![]() |

We'll never finish him off at this pace. *coughs* Burning the webs was a good idea although that smell is rank.
Isador swings his bow around and tries to find a vital spot on the isolated orc.
