Updated the map with the hold of the ship, you can position yourself on the staircase in order you want to do go down. I've put you down sort of randomly for now

Four slaves are chained to the starboard side’s iron rings. Three are Keleshite and Vudrani humans.
The fourth is a gagged female gnome she excitedly beckons for you to free her.

But not before you can move over to free them you also notice;

Foul-smelling fluids ooze from weeping sores across the scaly skin of this squat, powerful, and vaguely canine beast.

DC 13 Knowledge (Arcane):

Revvy, can we move through the squares with barrels and cargo in them on the south end (trollhound end) of the map? Is this considered difficult terrain?

Scarab Sages

@Prospero; There's nothing specified in the adventure about the barrels & Cargo, so going to rule it's not blocking, but it does count as difficult terrain

@Jaxal moves you down towards a location where you can actually throw anything at the trollhound (the walls around the stairs are blocking - with only one opening, to get to the stairs) And according to the rules 1 is always between you and your target when you scatter btw. not that it matters a whole lot now btw, since it will always scatter adjacent to your target and can't hit anyone else right now

Jaxal grabs an Alchemist's fire and throws it at the beast but ends up missing it and it splashes near it and start to slowly ignite some cargo that's next to the beast.

Sahba looks to Jaxal briefly, but continues without missing a beat.

My first reaction was "A wand can be used as a weapon," ... <grumble>, <grumble> ... But you're the boss.

I'll admit, you made me look it up, and I went down an Internet rabbit hole. (Thanks for stealing 40 minutes! ;^)

Interesting thread on the topic here. Who knew there were so many opinions on the subject?! I didn't! The thread was marked as "FAQ answered" (FAQ link, but still not super helpful in answering what I thought was the original question, unless combined with some other rulings.

In the end, it's not going to matter, because if you rule she can't draw and move simultaneously, then she'll draw and 5' step next round, which is enough.

FWIW, the PRD link is here:

PRD, 'combat', emphasis added wrote:
Drawing a weapon so that you can use it in combat, or putting it away so that you have a free hand, requires a move action. This action also applies to weapon-like objects carried in easy reach, such as wands. If your weapon or weapon-like object is stored in a pack or otherwise out of easy reach, treat this action as retrieving a stored item.

Again, bottom line for me is a) it won't end up mattering this time because 5' step works just as well, b) you're the boss, and c) thanks for forcing me to consider a new perspective!

@Sabha; guess it would help if Paizo would put out a FAQ explaining what exactly a weapon like something is ;) But if you want to pull a wand quickly, that's why they invented spring loaded wrist sheaths. Limited choice of what wand to draw (since you can only 1 wand per arm stored) but you can draw it as a swift action. I'll admit I missed that reference to a weapon like object counting in the first paragraph and only remembered the second one that specifically mentions the +1 BAB working for weapons. It would help if they made the wording a bit more clear, or at least similar to each other.

@Jaxal, the half-elf went down already from your attack last round..you just stabbed one of the slaves ;) I'll assume you went for the last enemy - the trollhound instead

Jaxal moves up besides the trollhound which is trying to chew Prospero's leg off and with one swift stabbing ends the creatures life.

Since Teric and Y'serids attacks would have missed anyway I'll skip to the next round. Y'serid is free to stand up though. Since I don't think he'd still be on the floor if he got a chance to stand up

"Get off my ship!"

The woman, slow as she is by her frozen muscles slices at Jaxal who strikes just a fraction of second before she does and he misses her
To hit AC Jaxal: 1d20 + 5 - 1 ⇒ (8) + 5 - 1 = 12

Prospero goes around the blue-turbaned captive, carefully moves around the cargo (difficult terrain)and gets in position to attack the new foe.

Unbelievable!

Teric feigns a bow to Sahba. "Now, my dear, may we get on with this? Something told me she would not part with these slaves you so want to free. Perhaps we can question her when she has been subdued." He shift side and shoots a bluish ray at the woman.

"She tried to attack Jaxal. I like Jaxal."

"Besides, as she's confirmed this is her ship, she was likely to be immolated anyway."

Sahba casts grease on the kukris the woman is holding.
DC 15 Ref or drop them.

She take a moment to put her wand back in her belt.

Y'serid sees an opening by the prisoner in the turban and moves to that that point, moving past the "captain" he assumed.

Turning towards her, he brings his blade down, but misses wildly with the commotion of the battle.

Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8

I will provoke an AOO from the lady.

Scarab Sages

Jaxal's attack bounces of the woman's though armor

Prospero's attack is side steped causing it to miss

Teric shoots a magical conjured ray at the woman hitting her and ends up missing due to some cover between him and her
From your current location on the map, you are firing through her cabin walls ..so I moved you back to a location where you can actually see her..which means Jaxal provides cover which causes you to miss

Sahba casts grease on one of the kukris the woman is holding
Reflex save: 1d20 + 5 - 1 ⇒ (16) + 5 - 1 = 20 and she has no trouble holding on to it
@Sabha, unless I missed something on grease, it's only 1 object you can target (or an area on the floor)

Y'serid moves forward to attack as well, but he fails just as every other party member who attacked in melee as he walks past her she swipes a blade towards him

AOO vs Y'serid: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

The woman seems to defrost a bit, rolls her shoulders and goes on the offensive

To hit AC jaxal: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9

Right. I see the wall now.

Meanwhile he turns to the bound slaves. "Are any of you Pathfinders?" He moves to release the gnome's gag.

Yep, you're correct. I noticed it too late to edit it.

Your second post only mentioned the one anyway (which is what was in my head), and it also wasn't until later that I went back and re-read the first post that mentioned two.

Y'serid manages to connect a solid hit against the woman

@Sabha, only one attack when she was slowed by Teric if that's what you mean with only mentioning one

Jaxal presses the attack, knowing now that it is likely to continue until someone drops and it seems luck favors the bold as he too is able to conenct hard enough to draw blood.

Teric removes the gag from the gnomes mouth and the gnome responds
"Free me from these shackles and I'm more then willing to cooperate with you and later report on what I've been through on this explore...err..ation"

Prospero joins in on the attacks and goes for the hatrick, also damaging the kukri wielding woman

Put Sahba on delay. With the captain surrounded, she'll have a hard time hitting a target, and I don't have time to count her times used right now.
