Dwayne, it is common to create a status bar using the character profile. I am posting as one of my characters so you can see how the status bar looks. If you click on my character's name you can look at her profile and see where I entered the information to create her status bar.

GM "The Fox" |

Once you have characters set up, feel free to "mingle" with your characters in the Gameplay thread.

Yes, that was one of the first questions I was going to ask, thanks for the demonstration.
I will continue to work on getting the important info entered into the Status bar this evening when I have a bit more time

Good day. I am the star of the party so I'll introduce myself first. The gnome I keep as a pet should be along soon.
Is there anything else you want on the status bar?

GM "The Fox" |

Padrig's looks good. You can use this character as a separator: "┃". It is nicer than the regular pipe "|" because it includes space on either side.
- Protean Eodolon┃HP 30/30┃AC 20, T 14, FF 16┃CMD: 20 (can't be tripped)┃...

GM "The Fox" |

I think I mentioned this to a few of you already.
@ Everyone: If you haven't done so, please take a look at these two guides to Play-by-Post
They have a lot of useful information.Thanks.

GM "The Fox" |

@ Merisiel: I'm going to slow you down for a moment to give Sajan and Balazar/Padrig a chance to catch up. :) As soon as everyone is in the room, then you can start looking around.

GM "The Fox" |

No worries. Just don't want to leave anyone behind! :)
Thanks re:map.
Merisiel, Amiri, and Balazar all earn 1 ☆. Great RP, guys!

Sorry for the delay.
I'm purchasing 1 acid flask, 1 alchemist fire, 1 holy Water, 1 tanglefoot bag, 50' silk rope, and 2 sunrods for 119gp

Sajan, will you please be sure to include a space before your bold text and quotation marks inside?
Juniper walks over to Sajan and helpfully adds, "This is what is should look like after you have it formatted. Thanks!" She smiles.

Merisiel, Forlorn |

As a note, I'm EST and go to bed pretty early (though last night I was making a truly terrible life choice re: my thesis). I likely won't update after 8 or 9 PM EST, and will make my first post of the day around 9 AM EST.

GM "The Fox" |

That's fine. That is why I went into turns, so no one got "skipped." For reference, I'm in PST and make terrible life choices every day. :)

GM "The Fox" |

Now is a good time to go over how I will run initiative.
I will roll initiatives for everyone, and then we will use what is commonly called "block initiative" order. For example, we have the initiative order that I just rolled:
- Padrig
- Amiri
- Sajan
- Enoras
- Merisiel
- Larya
- Balazar.
We have the block of player-controlled characters {Padrig, Amiri, Sajan}, followed by a block of one or more GM-controlled characters {Enoras}, followed by another block of player-controlled characters {Merisiel}, and so on.
Characters within a block may act in whatever order they want. Everyone within a block is assumed to be delaying until they act. This cuts down on wait times—you can post when it is convenient for you.

I hope that you're ok with the way that I sometimes have a little bit of both characters (Balazar, Padrig) actions in a single post from a single character (just communication, so far).
I think that it would make it way harder to read if I had made 3 posts for the 1 that I just did.
If you'd prefer for me to handle this differently just let me know.

That was perfectly fine since it was just conversation between the two using link.
If they are taking actions, I would prefer two separate posts.

GM "The Fox" |

I am experimenting with sound effects. I'm happy to hear thoughts and opinions on the matter.

My activity is going to jump around quite a bit due to my shiftwork. I can always get online to post, but this weekend for example, I will be on nights so I'll probably post in the morning (mountain time) before I go to bed, then again in the late afternoon when I get up, and again in the evening while I'm at work.
Saturday I might miss the afternoon post because I have to get to a meeting about the season 6 special we are running the following weekend at a local con. I will make an effort to keep posting fairly regularly

If the creature hist me with an attack of opportunity and grabs me then obviously adjust my position on the map accordingly

GM "The Fox" |

Everybody gets a ☆.
One thing I was really worried about with this quest and everyone playing a pregen was a lack of roleplay. But I am very happily wrong. :) You guys are doing great!

GM "The Fox" |

I want your opinions. Do the sound fx add to or detract from the game?

Balazar the Summoner |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

I think they're amusing. But whether or not they add or detract probably somewhat depends on how accurately they reflect the sound.
When I played the animals one they really sounded like pigs to me. If that turns out to be true, they add to the game. But if the animals turn out to be cows, I'm not sure how I'll feel.

GM "The Fox" |

@ Everyone: The remaining rooms do not add much to the scenario. When I ran this for a face-to-face group they wanted to speed through that portion, and I imagine you probably do too. If that's the case, you can head toward the other set of double doors. If you want to continue to explore the temple for the sake of more story elements, feel free to look around the other rooms on the northern half of the map. Either way is perfectly fine by me. :)

So I want to move up to join Merisiel against the goats, I'm just not sure how you want to count moving past the toppled column. Will one column lying diagonally across 2 squares count as difficult terrain for both, or just once? It will probably affect what route I take to get up there.

GM "The Fox" |

Basically, it costs 1 extra square of movement to go over a column. I have marked two spaces on the map with X's. Both of those spaces are 8 squares away from your current square (if my count is correct). :)

GM "The Fox" |

Hey guys, just a heads up. Tomorrow will be pretty busy for me—my wife and I are driving to another state to look at a house, we might go for a significant hike, and then our Iron Gods AP home game is playing at our house in the evening. I will try to get a post in during the drive, but it might be short, and I will probably not have map access.
Then, Saturday is going to be even more busy. I will try to post when I can, but I just ask for you to be patient over the next couple of days. We are very close to finishing.

GM "The Fox" |

I assumed he was using wings. Doh
That's ok. You brought him down to where Amiri can hit him. The fact that he was using a spell to fly was covered in the DC 21 knowledge check that you didn't quite make. But you guys got this!

Merisiel, Forlorn |

I'm working my way over, haha.
Sorry it's been taking me some time to post. I agreed to GM this month more than I should have (seriously, it's been a lot - I've gotten over 15 table credits in the past three weeks), and it's been really draining me. I'm trying to keep up as I'm really loving this game and hope to do more PFS play-by-post after this experience.

GM "The Fox" |

That's ok. I am busy for the rest of today, and likely a good portion of tomorrow. Intermittent posts until Monday, probably.

Sounds like we all have a lot on our plates today. I was happy I found enough time to get a couple posts in at work here. I'm GMing tonight again so I was worried about me slowing down play. Glad to know that won't be an issue.
