Well done! The daze spell is very useful at this level ;)
Take care of distance, and creatures affected render immune during the next 1 minute, plus some creatures are immune to mind-affecting spells, like vermin for example. I see those errors happen often in tables.
Hope that dog is dazed now too and we can surround again with ease!

Something that's been bothering me about the map is that there are specific patches of green stuff on there, I think the wording about there being rubble everywhere inside the ruins is meant to indicate that it's all over the place and not that every part of the floor is covered with difficult terrain..so going with what I think is right...the green stuff on the floor is difficult terrain, the "clear" patches are normal terrain for movement. The wording is a bit ambiguous so I think I read it wrong the first time and went with how my GM ruled it when I played it

![]() |

Oh! That has much more sense.
Interpreting maps it is sometimes tricky, they usually have much more information than it seems at first glance.
There's usually spots with difficult terrain and spots without, variety in the combat environment is what makes the thing interesting.
As for the barricade, does it count also as difficult terrain? Does it require Climb or Escape artist checks to get through?

![]() |

Out of character knowledge to give you an idea of how difficult it looks to pass the barrier:
A Small creature can squeeze to move through.
A Medium creature must succeed at a DC 30 Escape Artist check to wriggle through.
A very strong creature can shove through the barricade by making a successful DC 25 Strength check.

![]() |

Ha. Being neither Small, nor Slick, nor Strong, looks like it's hack-n-slash or go around it for me.

![]() |

I completely missed that bullet when I ran it (though I ran it with zero prep, so I got the light source thing, which I think is bigger. It largely only hampers me the most, since I'll have a hard time getting sneak attack damage.

Seeing the Init rolls I just realized my initiative was wrongly recorded.
I made a rebuild before level 2 and raised my Dex for two-weapon fighting but forgot to adjust the Initiative bonus. It shall be ok now.
Not that it matters in this encounter, but just in case you have noted them somewhere for future ones.

![]() |

Init of Xien changed to +3. That's the correct one right?
And Altus, that's fine. I was wondering a bit why everyone moved forward but you. So no problem there.
Update in gameplay most likely later today, I'm going to be busy for the next 8-10 hours, unsure if I can find a few spare minutes to update.

Posting to all my games:
Something's come up in RL. Posting will be very sparse or nonexistent for a while.
Please bot me as necessary, replace me if you need to. I expect it will be 1-2 weeks.
Sorry. Good travels.

![]() |

I hope everything is/will be all right Yagi.
To inform you all, since it will be an absence of 1-2 weeks I'll let Yagi tag along as rear guard (and stand there on full defense most of the time), and he can jump back in when ever he can/feels like it..but he won't be active much otherwise. If he misses out too much he can choose to jump back in for reduced rewards or drop out so he can play it at a later point to experience it fully, his choice.

Ss'alat, a good tactic when you cannot do anything meaningful in combat is to use the 'aid another' attack to provide a +2 to hit or +2 to AC to an ally. You only need to hit a 10 AC and be threatening the enemy. It becomes even better if you have a reach weapon like a longspear, but even a dagger should work ;)
You probably already know this, but a good option for an enchanter is to spend the first 2 prestige points to acquire a magic missile wand. You will not be doing wonders, but at least you will keep the feeling of contributing, and under circumstances it is the only way to damage certain creatures, like incorporeals.

Yes, it can be very, very handy. I actually have 2 characters that are built for just that capability. Both have the helpful trait and aid at +4. I'm looking at a possibility to get it up to +5 before magic items and with the Bodyguard feat, that can be rather nasty, defensively.

Xien leads the way through the next door to reveal:
This curving hall has been badly damaged, but there are intact doors to the north (you just came through that one), east, and south, as well as a large double door leading to the core of the tower. One corner of the room has collapsed in a mound of green glass rubble, but a tunnel runs through the debris, shored up with rough timbers.
(Where do you wish to go next?)

Xien, you calling me Ash (which I think I realize now that it was just a mistype) was a freakout moment, because I have a character named Ash and I was like..."is this person in my Jade Regent game and I not notice?" Which is even funnier since I just realized my GM is in one of my games, as well.

![]() |

Hahaha, sorry, those are just onomatopoeias I use on my speech. Just being not native they are totally different in my language, and curiously happened to be coincident with your character.
Sorry for that, but was a fun misunderstanding. Re-reading the sentence, yes, it seems exactly as I had recognized you. Weird things have language sometimes :P
That 'Ash' was just a meaning of frustration (perhaps you use something like Oosh?)

Posting to all my games:
Thank you for waiting and/or botting me. You deserve the truth, and the truth is I lost my job -- in part because I got a little obsessed with the fun I was having here.
I have prided myself on never dropping out of a game, but that ends today. I'm close to landing a new job, but even so I need to devote myself to it for quite some time before I'll feel comfortable again.
So, I'm sorry, but I have to leave you. You'll know I'm back when I post again looking for a new game, but until then I'm going 100% silent.
Again, my apologies for abandoning you. I know that you'll understand. It has been fun, and I treasure the adventures we've had together.
Consider this a friendly request to replace me or move on without me. Good luck and have fun!
-"Caro"

There is an event I am attending this Sunday.
Any possibility we might finish before that day and I can get a chronicle and play with Xien at the event Revvy?
Or perhaps there is another full level there to clear, I don't know.

![]() |

No day job for Xien!

![]() |

No job for the goat

![]() |

Also, this module gives you the ability to get a second chronicle
Example: here
If anyone wants to buy a plot of land near the emerald spire, let me know.

![]() |

Thanks Revvy!
It was a pleasant game well driven :)
I got the chronicle without problems and had set up a Land Rush one with my first clamed A cell ^_^
Hope to see you around and perhaps play more of this Superdungeon or other modules.

![]() |

thanks, Revvy. I enjoyed this one and would love to continue onto one of the next levels if you run it!

![]() |

I am a bit curious to know how the other tables are doing :-)

![]() |

Alexandria and I, we have just started a Citadel of Flame game.
I don't know how much will that take us but probably until some point in April.
Please, feel free to follow without Xien!

![]() |

Elvis is game to continue whenever.

![]() |

Elvis is now lvl 2

![]() |

Revvy, can you set the campaign as inactive please?
It is still appearing into my campaigns page.
I don't think I will be able to join you as the XP placed me to level 3, which triggered some chronicles I was holding and made me to level 4 already, with a small step to 5 after I finish the Citadel of Flames I am playing.
Thus, I don't think I will be able to continue playing Xien in this Emeral Spire group :/
It was fun, thanks again for the game!
