Is there a good guide for formatting posts to indicate actions or dialogue?

Very first PbP campaign so pretty confused about how exactly it works. I may not be super active but I'll post once per day at least. I don't seem to be able to dot your one campaign thing. I try to post but it's just gone.

This is my first PFS event, and I'm struggling a bit with exactly what resources are legal. I do own every book either on paper or pdf where my character's options and stuff are from, but I can't find a list of exactly what equipment is available for purchase. Most of my stuff is pretty vanilla, but I just want to be sure I'm following the rules.

I wouldve said Warden... but oh well :P

Before you hit level 2... if i am not mistaken. Till then free rebuilds etc

Go ahead and pick one now tentatively, you can change your character completely until you play your character at level 2.

There some bonuses if to take something called faction card. (Available in paizo) They are goal mark than can be done in the adventure. After a number of goal completed, you have some bonus on something to the faction. (Like saving throw bonus against curse for dark archive)

Just out of curiousity, why was the goblin not flat footed? He might have acted in the surprise round, but had not yet acted in the first normal round. My copy of the CRB says 'specifically, before your first regular turn in the initiative order' you are flat footed, but no one gets regular turns during a surprise round.

GM V |

Surprise
When a combat starts, if you are not aware of your opponents and they are aware of you, you're surprised.
Sometimes all the combatants on a side are aware of their opponents, sometimes none are, and sometimes only some of them are. Sometimes a few combatants on each side are aware and the other combatants on each side are unaware.
Determining awareness may call for Perception checks or other checks.
The Surprise Round: If some but not all of the combatants are aware of their opponents, a surprise round happens before regular rounds begin. In initiative order (highest to lowest), combatants who started the battle aware of their opponents each take a standard or move action during the surprise round. You can also take free actions during the surprise round. If no one or everyone is surprised, no surprise round occurs.
Unaware Combatants: Combatants who are unaware at the start of battle don't get to act in the surprise round. Unaware combatants are flat-footed because they have not acted yet, so they lose any Dexterity bonus to AC.
So they are considered as having acted because of the surpise round, that was their first turn in initiative order. I checked through the messageboards too and that is how it works.

Yeah, the words I was quoting show up higher on that same page. Perhaps it's what they mean by 'regular action' that I was misinterpreting? Maybe a 'regular action' means a standard action, move action, or full action, rather than an action in a regular round.
Thanks for clarifying, this will improve my GMing.

GM V |

Yea i think regular refers to standard. I'm here to help. And try to kill you but in a helpful way.
How long have you been GMing?
Also when you guys have time if i could get the following information.
1. Character's Name
2. Class and Level
3. PFS# (and dash)
4. Faction
5. Day job Roll (if any)
If you havent already.
And just a heads up i will be out of town this weekend and i dont think i will have internet access so posting may be delayed starting saturday.

Hey, in the future, could my support/caster character please, please, please be in the back of the marching order?
This is the third time this week that a DM has decided to put my support/caster character front and center, subject to immediate enemy attacks on the first/surprise round of a battle I didn't even know was happening.
Thanks!

I just realized I left my half-elf traits and psychic discipline out of my character sheet for my profile. I just added them in to match my paper copy.

![]() |

Yeah, turns out Charisma really isn't that important for summoners, put those points in physical stats, baby!

![]() |

Ti-Jean, I just cannot get over how much your forum avatar looks like the President of Syria. :)

![]() |

Ok, so I'm apparently bloody useless in combat, but Orator sure helps out of combat...

So I am probably going to have to drop out if you haven't already kicked me. I'm really sorry, I hoped I wouldn't miss this much. Last week I was rushed to the ER because of extreme pain and am essentially bedridden for a while. I won't go into details but if you feel that I have and will miss too much then I am fine with being kicked. Again, I'm very sorry :(
