What ability do you have that lets you ignore difficult terrain? That is not normally something you can do with just an acrobatics roll.

Oh? Sorry, around my local that'd be considered "uneven ground" and you could use the acrobatics check to move across it. If that's not the way you rule it, no worries, I'll just double move instead and use my readied attack roll for my riposte attack roll instead if needed.

The Midnight Mirror

I've never seen "difficult terrain" equated to "uneven ground" ... though I'm not sure exactly what that does mean. At any rate, in this case it is because the ground is literally covered in shards and discarded pieces of doll, not even good balance helps you here.

I've revealed what Mutahir can see from his new location.

“Kel, is it worthwhile getting haste up?”

Antonella delays until after her wizard friend, rising up on one leg to assess the battlefield. (crane style, swift)

“The giant doll face screams trap or alarm to me. As for the Floaty in the metal tank …”

The priestess scrunches up her face in disgust. “I suspect Mother Black is about to give birth.”

Delaying until after Kel, before determining Antonella's move + standard actions, GM Rinaldo.

Only buff up is mage armor & soothe syrup.

Liberty's Edge

OK, having not heard from Kel, I'll go ahead and bot him.
Seeing the difficult terrain, Kel decides this is a good time to give everyone a burst of speed. Then moves in to examine the cylinders more closely. To his horror, once he gets close, he realizes that there is a human man floating in the translucent green goo!

Haste for everyone! Mutahir, you were technically after Kel anyway, so your move was at double speed, and you can take another action. Nergi and Antonella are up!

The Midnight Mirror

Antonella, how are you getting 80' speed? Haste doesn't stack with Monk speed bonus, so you should be at 60' unless you have something unusual added in that I'm not seeing.

As Nergi and Antonella move in along the side of the tank, Rocky makes a mighty leap up and onto it. Once there, he notices three things:

First, the top of the tank has a round window near' 10' in diameter. Peering at it, he can just make out the form of a massive face slightly submerged in the green liquid, nearly filling the space.

Second, at the far end of the room suspended from the ceiling, he sees two gigantic syringes, apparently filled with the same green liquid.

Finally, standing on a raised platform over yet another vat of the green stuff, he sees a man who resembles the snowman Black, but wearing a frumpy housedress, a white wig, and standing with a slight stoop. Picture added to the slideshow for your enjoyment.

"Mother" Black looks at Rocky and says, "You will not stop my son's work! He is finally going to make something of himself!"

With that, he raises his hands and casts a spell. Immediately a forest of black tentacles reach up from the ground near the entrance.

Not able to see anyone but Rocky, he simply aims the spell for the center of the entrance. Antonella, Nergi, and Mutahir are subject to the grapple.

The green circle in front of you is a viewport into the tank you are standing on; that is where you see the giant face. It is flush with the surface of the tank. The circles on the edges of the room are the cylindrical tanks; their tops are roughly at the same height as the top of the tank you are on. They appear to be made of glass.

The Midnight Mirror

As Mutahir and Antonella free themselves from the embrace of the magic tentacles, they each run past more of the cylinders. On both cases, they see evidence of a humanoid figure floating in the liquid.

Rocky, in all the times I have run this, I have only had one other person reach him this quickly, and never by going over the top. Well done! :)

I have a confession to make ... I failed to include a rather important part of his description ... I don't think it would change anyone's actions, but tell me if you think it would have. Before the door opened, Black had cast Mirror Image. There are a total of six copies of that lovely figure on the platform. I apologize for that oversight.

Rocky makes two epic leaps and almost completely closes the distance between himself and Black. Nergi does her best to escape the tentacles, but remains caught firmly in their grasp.

Botting Kel.
Kel moves forward through the shards on the ground. Once he has Black in sight, he prepares a spell. Readying an action to cast Magic Missile on Black to interrupt spellcasting.

Seeing Rocky close the distance so quickly, Black moves to the side and points through Rocky toward Kel and Mutahir. He begins to cast a spell.

The Midnight Mirror

It's cinematic and cool. I'll allow it. ;-)
Mutahir leaps upward, running along the length of the open vat filled with green goo. He flips off the other end and lands behind the Black sisters. He jabs his rapier in, skewering another image.
Mirror Image, hit on 1: 1d5 ⇒ 2

Rocky takes a breath and starts punching images until nothing remains but the real Black.
Att#1 Mirror Image, hit on 1: 1d4 ⇒ 4 Image
Att#2 Mirror Image, hit on 1: 1d3 ⇒ 2 Image
Att#3 Mirror Image, hit on 1: 1d2 ⇒ 2 Image
Haste attack and Ki Point attack both hit.
Fort Save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12

The images are gone, Black is stunned and bruised, and Antonella, Nergi, and Kel still have actions!

Antonella single moves to block Black’s retreat. (movement provokes)

As she passes the trough, she notices a wooden gang-plank?? sticking out of it leading up to Rocky’s dais …

Hmm … that doesn’t look good.

Have I got that right, GM? Or is the plank more like a diving board? How high are the walls of the open vat?

She then attempts to add a few more bruises to the Aspis lunatic.

Unsurprisingly, the small-sized Nergi remains stalwart in defending her colleagues from the tentacles. And we're not even in Tian! She solely suffers wounds to her frame and dignity just to keep the others safe.

Speaking of which, roll the damage dice for me, please. Sure wish I had a Liberating Command ready right now.

You take the damage on Black's turn when the tentacles maintain their grapple. You have so far been in for 3 rounds, total of 17 damage.

No worries, I have updated his damage total with that in mind.

Antonella joins the fray and lands another solid punch, giving Black another small bruise, while Nergi continues her solo struggle against the tentacles. Kel turns his attention to the tank, ready to blast whatever comes out, and Riddywhipple flies over to the melee and tries to no avail to give Black a contact high.

Rocky and Antonella can make a perception check:

DC 15 Perception:
Now that you have actually hit Black rather than an image, you notice his skin seems especially hard, very much like Rocky's.

Marduk swings the two ends of her double axe, giving the stunned wizard three large gashes across the chest. She even tries to bite him, but in her fury doesn't quite get close enough.

*BOOM!* *BOOM!* *BOOM!*

Could you please place the unconscious figure onto the map? And to be clear the floor is now covered in green goo?

Just the area around the one broken tank. It's the one in the center along the top wall on the map. The figure is just in front of that tank. Is there a reason you want a token for it?
