Greetings fellow members of the Pathfinder Society!
I'm opening the recruitment for the scenario #5-08 "The Confirmation", held as a PFS event for five or six 1st-level characters. This PbP adventure will be open to all those who have a PFS-legal character in that level range. Also, since this scenario tells the story of newly-trained members of the Pathfinder Society's first adventure, I will pick characters that haven't been played yet (those who are 1st-level but have played Master of the Fallen Fortress or received credit of some sort are also happily accepted).
For players unfamiliar with PFS or posting here, I'll point out a few guidelines:
- You need a legal 1st-level Pathfinder Society character.
- Apply & post with your legal character. Please include the PFS number for your submitted character in his application post.
- Make sure you are familiar with the rules included in the Guide to Pathfinder Society Organized Play. It's a free download and it isn't long to read.
- Post at least once a day. I like my games to move at a quick pace, so please make an effort to read & post regularly. If you are up in the initiative order and don't post for a while, I'll reserve the right to have you delay until you post. If you know you won't be available in advance, please say so in the discussion thread. In this case, I will probably have your PC take a back seat until you come back.
- Make sure you have all the legal sources (either electronically or paper version) for the character building options you're using for your character. I work on a trust basis, so I won't ask for your previous Chronicle sheets or sources, but will ask you if in doubt. I may also ask you to justify your calculations (attack bonus for example).
- Battlemaps will be posted through googledocs, and everyone will be able to move themselves.
- Recruitment is open now and will last for three days (ending Wednesday at noon European time (6am for the east coast, if I'm not mistaken). If there are more than six applications, I'll reserve the right to pick the applicants based on party balance, creativity of the character concept or previous experience with a player (be it positive or negative).
- I expect you to play your character in an interesting and lively manner!
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask them here. If you're unfamiliar with PFS and would like more details, please make sure to visit the Pathfinder Society homepage for more informarion, or to ask me.

Vesparo Dikanadra
|
And here he is, Vesparo Dikanadra a proud Taldoran bastard who spent his formative years playing every villain the Opparan operas had to offer. An amiable, albeit imbecilic, fellow who has decided he wants to play the hero instead of the villain - having long since taken to drink because of the public's responses to his well executed villainy - his -3 sense motive isn't enough to distinguish between real and fake condemnation ;).
First time I've looked at the playtest, and my first impressions for the swashbuckler are hugely positive, it seems well thought out easily understood and choc full of flavour!

Glad to see such enthusiasm! I'll gladly accept any playtest class (as long as they are in the Additional Resources of course)
List of submissions so far:
Cressyk Shadowscar (inquisitor of Gorum)
Vesparo Dikanadra (swashbuckler)
Sidney Moncrief (sorcerer)
Carrel Firth (rogue)
About to be submitted:
Bilbo Bing-Bong (Gunslinger)
Caradeum (?)
Chainmail, I'm glad to see you apply! The Veteran's Vault with Jory aboard was definitely a very good experience for me, and I'm very interested in knowing more about Sidney.
Rellen (and Caradeum), glad to see the fungal crawlers' deadly claws haven't made you run away from this adventure!
As a side note, I might GM two parallel tables for this scenario if there are many interesting submissions. So don't hesitate to apply if you're interested!
Sidney Moncrief

Ok--I was thinking of making a peri-blooded aasimar arcanist with the new rules, but......I think the arcanist is OP.
I think the exploit abilities on top of the mix of prepared and spontaneous spellcasting would leave me feeling.....dirty!
I am interested in your opinion DM, but I would think the arcanist is seeming reminiscent of the synthesist summoner.
Sidney is planning to be a buffing sorcerer that can handle himself in melee.

Ha, no the fungal crawler battle was awesome, very cinematic and the kind of traumatic experience that helps a character build character, plus I rolled like a champ there. The maps have been great in the game to, doing PBP without google drawing now seems silly.
I'm slightly sad that swashbuckler is so close to Rellen's type, but it was the playtest class that appealed to me the most by a long way and he's certainly very different personality wise - I've never had to give up my bedroll so I could carry more booze with a light load before! He ought to make a decent face, or backup, so long as someone is there to filter for him - gullible and trusting are going to be my watch words.
FYI his tiefling features are all things that would not be apparent in the avatar, since has a feline tail and fangs, hence being cast exclusively as villains.

I'd be fine with an arcanist, I'm curious to see it in action to be honest! The most important thing for me is for you to play what you want to play, not what you feel obligated to play by moral standards or group needs.
As a reminder, I'd like to stress out that characters that haven't been played before will be preferred to characters that have one or two missions under their belt.

If you only played one scenario, it could be fine if we considered the Confirmation to be a flashback (from a narrative point of view) or that your first mission with the Pathfinder was done as freelance before your three-year apprenticeship. Besides, hi! I'm playing in your Blakros Matrimony as Kynrac.
List of submissions so far:
Cressyk Shadowscar (inquisitor of Gorum)
Vesparo Dikanadra (swashbuckler)
Sidney Moncrief (sorcerer)
Carrel Firth (rogue)
Rhanloi (wizard)
Liadain Serelion (bard or swashbuckler)
Kryssa Lightbinder (bloodrager)
About to be submitted:
Bilbo Bing-Bong (Gunslinger)
Caradeum (?)
Mo63 & friend (?)
Wilem Schuetzen
|
This is Bilbo's sub.
A travelling side show shooter always looking for a good time. Perpetually upbeat, even in dark times. Became a Pathfinder after brawl between a group of Pathfinders and a magician erupted in his troupes main tent. When the wizard looked to be on the wrong side of things, Wilem dropped the man with one shot saving a cleric of Desna in the process.
Talwin Bernhold

I'd like to throw my hat in the ring. I'm still working on re-building from Paladin.
Talwin has just 1 GM credit - it would be two after I GM a game tonight. Otherwie I could create something new.
Talwin is an Inquisitor of Abadar. He's a very lawful type who strongly believes in the power of the law to craft a just and good society. He works as a clerk and tax agent, but recently has sought to fight those the church views as heretics: corrupt politicians, greedy rulers who pass harsh and unjust laws, and of course tax dodgers.

Oh, hi Kynrac! :)
Actually, I just checked and I haven't updated Lia's sheet properly - she has some extra GM credit under her belt that makes her level 2! So I'll be making up a new character instead. Sorry 'bout that.
Mahasi Mi Khaing
|
I am almost done with Master of the Fallen Forest with this character, so I thought I would apply.
Mahasi is a Vudrani sage wildblooded sorcerer, and rather taken with himself. He lacks the grace and charm of most sorcerers; instead, he applies brute intellect to solving his problems, and his power stem not from the blood but from his own self-discipline. He half-heartedly worships Irori.
PFS 7514-8.

Actually, I'll probably withdraw this application. There are plenty of arcane types here, and a sage sorcerer is largely made obsolete by the current incarnation of the arcanist (although I do like running around without a spellbook...) I should really rebuild the character.

I vouch for this guy if he decides to submit another character, we've been playing the same module and he is fun and active in game.
Farris Imrian

Alright, here's my fresh character, a half-orc cleric of Sarenrae. No background properly written up yet... that'll come in the morning. Bedtime for me for now!
He's decided to become a Pathfinder to travel and spread the word of his Goddess, to redeem evil much as his mother did, and to be a living example of a goodly and noble half-orc - to hopefully change people's feelings against he and his father's people. (Converting the entire race of orcs to goodliness might be a long-term goal!)

I'd love if you stayed Tangaroa, I can confirm what Vardel says, I'm having huge fun with Choamski in the group in Thornkeep.

Vesparo Dikanadra (swashbuckler)
Kryssa Lightbinder (bloodrager)

Hi. I've been playing D&D and now Pathfinder for a while now, but I'm new to PFS and definitely to online campaigning. I have a new character designed and registered (Ashia 116049-1), but other than that what else would I need to do to participate in this campaign? I noticed many have all their relevant statistics in their profiles; is there a specific preferred format for this?
GM Lithrac

Hi cuatroespada,
Most people edit their profile (all GMs require it so that they have access to the character sheet in one way or another) and enter their relevant scores. I think the most commonly used software to generate a character sheet is HeroLab, which allows you to create your character very easily and then export the data, so instance on boards such as the paizo ones. I also know that there are some websites that'll host an online character sheet which you can put a link for in your profile (but I'm at a loss about telling you what's that website unfortunately).
That being said, you can always create your own profile using other ones as inspiration and checklist. You could even find a character of the same class as yours, then copy/paste and change the information to match your character.

Throw something together and make it relatively readable. Herolab exports the data to make it look like an NPC statblock. You can use that sort of format as a guide.
If you are doing it by hand, you might look for a simple BBCode offline editor. You can get them as an addon for some browsers as well as stand-alone programs that will do it. It will show things as bolded or italicized instead of worrying about tags. That should give you a way to keep the file saved locally to update and export at your leisure.
If you have an android device there's an app called Wayfinder (costs like 99 cents) that manages your Paizo.com play-by-post threads and gives you the ability to post on the go if you want. I don't think it does character sheets, but it will help with formatting for doing your actions and whatnot.

One other thing that might be helpful is this link to PbP posting guidelines. It basically goes over the generally accepted way to communicate different things on the boards (when your character is talking, ooc stuff, etc.).
Ashia, Scion of the Sighted One
|
A tall Garundi woman with long hair, raven black excepting a single bone-white lock, enters and surveys the room critically. "I'm here for the Confirmation," she states plainly. It will be a miracle if none of these fools get me killed.
Thank you all for the help. Please let me know if I've forgotten anything important.

Well-done Ashia, this profile looks good! I like Razmiran priests too.
What I can say a couple hours before closing submissions is that there are lots of arcane casters so far, so it won't be easy to find room for all of them. However, I enjoy having beginners at my tables and will definitely consider your application.
