Ignatius notices something. "Something in the sand there!" he cries out, pointing with his sword at the northwestern bank of the oasis. A trap? he thinks to himself.
He keeps clear of the area, instead choosing to move straight to the creature behind the western tree.
Moving straight diagonally. Route marked with arrow. I assume that I can't charge it because it's behind the tree, right?

Ignatius moves ahead, going around the palm trees to outflank the gnoll under cover. The gnoll lunges at him, snarling.

You're right, you can't charge him because of the palm tree and rocks. As for the water, it seems shallow enough to wade through - it counts as difficult terrain, but doesn't require Swim checks.

Chasik, moves up while jostling a javelin off his back. He takes aim and hurls it at the closest Gnoll.

Oh sorry about that, I though you were still on your trip across the UK.
Chasik strides across the sands and throws a javelin at the gnoll, but the missile falls three feet short. Ardisen moves forward as well, passing Buri and Chasik. Amennekht, more accustomed to walking on the sand dunes, walks quickly forward to close in on one of the gnolls, but as he arrives near the northern bank of the oasis, the sands quickly sink under his feet in a deadly sinkhole. Moreover, tentacles spring from the sands and attempt to seize the dervish!

No worries, it's actually my fault, I should have removed the token of the dead gnolls to clarify the map.
Buri charges, but the gnoll's hide is too tough for the dwarf's fangs.
The sand creature attempts to swallow Amennekht...

... and succeeds to gulp down the unwilling dervish, chewing on him as Amennekht is brought in the creature's large and smelly maw.
