Xien |
Ib, you forgot the healing roll
CLW potion for Ib: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
As he is not well enough, Xien hands the other potion to Ib too.
CLW potion for Ib: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
The nagaji tends his hands on the halfling and completes his healing.
Lay on hands for Ib: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Ib +10 hp, fully healed
Xien then looks through the secret passage "Well, as you wish, follow the bridge or turn to face the stairs."
GM Harker |
There's a couple of things before we move forward. First, Ib only took 1 HP of damage so he doesn't require all the extra healing Xien is giving him. Muirdarcaien, on the other hand, took 18 HP of damage and is yet to be healed.
Second, there's no consensus from the group on which way to go. Quiella wants to check the stairs first, while Xien appears to want to go out the secret door. I'll need at least one more vote one way or another, unless you want to split the party.
Quiella |
Quiella goes to the bottom of the stairs and looks up. Then she looks back at the door, Are you guys coming along?
Perception: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (1) + 0 = 1
Ninja'd by GM. If the party votes to take the secret tunnel, somebody just shout at Quiella and she'll come back to the rest of the group.
Growler Bloodlet |
Growler looks around and then follows the gnome, saying over his shoulder, "Are you guys coming along?"
It didn't matter to me so in true Growler fashion he followed someone. Choices are hard.
Alexandria-Shardonz |
After finishing with the cat Alexandria moves to Muirdarcaien.
Looks like you have suffered gave injuries brave soul. May the power of the Dawnflower heal all that ails you.
At that Alexandria lowers the wand and touches both of Muirdarcaiens shoulders.

CLW Wand: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
There I believe you will now be fine
turning to the others
I believe we are going to the stairs first and then.
Xien |
Sorry guys, I am so used to track HP instead of damage that I got lost there. All the healing should go for Murder
Xien takes his trident and shield and follows the party to the entrance hall "All right, let's explore the whole complex, it will not be from an extra day that we fail our mission."
Quiella |
Quiella nods at Xien's comment. Of course! We can't leave anything unexplored--what kind of Pathfinders would that make us?
IC: Quiella became a Pathfinder to explore. OOC: I'm a completionist.
Muirdarcaien Daoilfghiaen |
I've been checking this page regularly on my phone and then all of a sudden today I click and boom every one has been updating. :( sorry for the absence I was sitting thinking I was still waiting for my hit to land..
Muirdarcaien Daoilfghiaen |
Muirdarcaien thanks Alexandria for the healing.
"If you should need it I carry a magic stick too. You could use mine."
He points at the CLW wand he carries.
"We are going up?"
Muirdarcaien starts up the stars with a vigor.
Book keeping: 19/19 Hp 3 rage rounds used. 12 left.
Ib Brewleaf |
Ib agrees to explore the hall with group. He pulls his himself together. He also thanks Xian for the healing.
I will try to voice my stats more! The time difference here can make it challenging
Quiella |
Seeing the group follow her lead, Quiella starts up the steps after Muir. "Right behind you Murdy-carry-guy!"
-Posted with Wayfinder
GM Harker |
Ok, for the sake of tracking your resources, we'll say that Ib drank one of the Cure Light Wounds potions you found, while Alexandria used her wand to heal Muir of his wounds. Growler and Tiger were healed by Quiella's LoH and Alexandria's wand respectively. If you'd prefer to the healing in a different manner, that's fine, I'm just trying to keep things organized.
You'll have to go single file up the stairs, so I'm assuming the marching order will be similar as before. With Quiella in the lead, followed by Xien, Muirdarcaien, Ib, Growler, Tiger, and Alexandria. Let me know if you'd prefer a different configuration.
The group follows Quiella up a set of graceful spiral stairs, constructed of black marble veined with scarlet that wind upward, although the footprints in the sand leading up are now gone. The bonfire in the entry hall sends waves of intense heat flowing upwards, along with thick black smoke. Directly above the flame, at the level of the chamber’s ceiling, is a wide capstone concealing the interior of the hall’s large minaret. The stairs wrap around the capstone and end in a small landing adjacent to an egg-shaped enclosure suspended inside the minaret. The chamber’s exterior walls are wreathed in smoke flowing in wide ribbons toward the minaret’s peak. A squat stone door leads inside.
There's no map necessary at the current moment.
Quiella |
Quiella looks at the party behind her, then raps on the door with the butt of her hammer.

Xien |
Xien checks the door and looks what kind of floor we are in right now.
Perception: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (12) + 0 = 12
He then goes down some stairs and looks behind the floor trying to guess what kind of room the door is taking to.
Perception: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (18) + 0 = 18
GM Harker |
By Xien's reckoning, the room the door leads to is a small 10 x 10 rounded room under the minaret that crowns the building. There is a bonfire directly under the room, however. The floors are composed of stone, as is the door. He discovers nothing amiss after quick examination.
Quiella |
Quiella tries to open the door.
-Posted with Wayfinder
GM Harker |
Quiella easily pushes open the door, and a fan of flames erupts from the doorway. Since they were standing close enough to the door, unfortunately both Quiella and Xien are burnt by the fire. The paladins take 2d4 ⇒ (3, 3) = 6 fire damage, DC 11 Reflex save for half.
After the initial fire spell is triggered, the group sees no one else in the room, perhaps leading you to infer that it was just a magical trap.
Severe heat wafts out of this small circular room, as if were some type of a ceremonial heat trap, or a dry sauna. The interior is dark and devoid of furnishings, although the walls are decorated with a large mural of the Qadiran desert and a second large mural that’s a perfect copy of the battle tapestry you found in the throne room. Arcane sigils cover the ceiling and dried blood stains the hot floor.
Anyone going into the room to take a closer look may make Knowledge (geography), Linguistics, and/or Knowledge (arcana) checks.
Xien |
As the extreme heat of the room is released engulfing the paladins, an aura of divine strength raises in front of Xien protecting him from most of the heat.
Ref DC 11: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
"Horrible heat here, argh. Look that mural, it seems like the other one. Dunes and more dunes. I understand nothing."
Xien has no one of those skills
Descending the stairs a bit troubled he says "If we finished the pathfinder games, we get to find that idol now." he seems a bit angry about the heat but he will be ok in a while.
Once on the throne room, the nagaji waits for the others to continue sharpening his trident and shield and further researching the motives in the past areas.
Perception: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (8) + 0 = 8
Quiella |
Reflex: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Quiella leans away from the door, missing some of the heat. She looks inside one more time for anything she might have missed at first glance. Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 13
Then she goes down the stairs to join Xien by the throne. While she catches her breath there she reties her ponytail. "Sweat does a body good--but hair, not so much."
-Posted with Wayfinder
Ib Brewleaf |
Ib sees the paladin Xien go to the throne room. He follows him down the stair case. He hears the comment that the paladin make and smiles a little. Sometimes others have no room for fun and exploration. He thinks to himself. He pulls out his glaive and is on the paladin.
What do you think we will find here? He asks while scanning the area.
Perception 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Xien |
Continuing his trident's sharpening the nagaji answers very serious to Ib "My guess is fire elementals and other similar fire creatures. I was hopping to find no more than old undead cultists alive, but it seems some have survived these long years. Whatever we find the Grand Lodge sent us to get that idol and that's what I am going to do." Xien looks resolved towards the new corridor opening in front of them "Do you know anything about Moloch, his cult and what kind of powers have their followers?"
As soon as the other members arrive, and if no one wants to check other things, he advances through the secret door.
Ib Brewleaf |
Never of him. The Grand lodge sent me here to help and that is what I am going to do. If you don't mind me asking where do you come from? I am from Absalom. My parents own a café there, it's called the Brewleaf after our surname. Do like to drink hot beverages that taste spicy and bold on the taste buds? Hey do you have taste buds? I wonder if Dragons do ? I guess they would because of they lots of stuff. Ib stops for a moment. Then takes a breath. He realizes the Paladin may not be used to Halfling speaking in such a rapid way.
Xien |
A bit seized by the random speech Xien coils at first, but being waiting he gives himself to the chat "I am not sure what taste buds are, but I guess we don't have. We basically scent things." he makes a pause then resumes with a bit of his history "I am here just to honor Nagajor debt with the Pathfinder Society. Following orders from my nation I have to serve the Grand Lodge until the day of my death. And that's what I do here." he continues sharpening his trident. It is clear from his attitude he does not care about the fortress, the idol or the danger, he is here just to do what he has been told without thinking on the consequences.
Alexandria-Shardonz |
Alexandria steps inside the room. know Arcana: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
You two sure know how to heat up a room Alexandria giggles at her own bad joke. Afterward she bows her head and her holy symbol glows and emits an arc of energy.
Channel Positive Healing: 1d6 ⇒ 6
May the Dawnflower's blessing be on you both
GM Harker |
During Alexandria's investigation of the sauna room, she definitely suspects that the room is designed for some sort of magical ceremony, but she can't quite figure it.
* * *
After a bit of conversation between party members and healing from the cleric, the group moves out past the secret door. It opens onto a covered bridge forty feet across. The entire structure appears to be carved from a single red stone, but the centuries-long burial in sand has levied its toll. Long cracks line the walls and ceiling, and twenty feet along the bridge a seven-foot gash splits the floor in two, through which the dark orange stone of the valley thirty feet below is visible. Spaced every ten feet on the walls are a series of massive carved heads: a pair of screaming fire elementals, a pair of humans clad in armor, and a pair of bull- headed men, each flanked by massive torches. From the breeze that flows through the bridge, it quickly becomes clear that the faces are all stylized windows. The arch’s far end is carved into the shape of a massive leering face, with golden double doors in place of its mouth.
Standing on the opposite side of the bridge is a small, fiendish-looking creature with scaly avian limbs, vulture-like wings, and a horned skull-head covered in flies. He carries aloft a vicious-looking spear. He screams something intimidating in an unknown language.
It's a Knowledge (planes) to identify the creature, but I don't believe anyone has that skill trained.

Can I get a running start and try to jump the chasm?
It is always good style in PbP if you include the roll for your action, so if the GM considers you can, he can resolve it automatically without waiting for more player input ;)
Muirdarcaien Daoilfghiaen |
Running jump: Acrobatics: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Upon landing next to the creature attack with scythe Acrobatics: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 182d4 + 6 ⇒ (2, 4) + 6 = 12
Please say I don't have room or ability to do that:P
GM Harker |
I would say that in cases in which rolling dice could theoretically get you killed, it's best to wait for the GM to respond before just rolling dice and knowing if you would have succeeded or not. In this case, Muir, you don't have room to do a running jump, which increases the DC. Would you have jumped without running the 10 feet first?
Growler, I'm going to rule that if you stay on the narrow broken part of the bridge, you'll have to make an acrobatics save to stop from falling if you take any damage. Based on this information, you can change your move action if you like.
Xien calls upon his connection to the divine to smite the forces of darkness and, with a mighty throw, hits the creature with his trident. Looking surprised at the injury, the monster turns his full attention at the Nagaji, ignoring the intimidating noises from Growler and Tiger.
Ib, and Muir if he wants to change his action.
Muirdarcaien Daoilfghiaen |
I wouldn't have jumped if I couldn't get a running start. I'm happy if you want to have me fall prone due to trying to run in a crowd and tripping on my own two feet or something similiar. I can't really think of any other actions to take here.

Growler probably would move back, he's not the smartest, but he's kinda wise-ish.
Growler moves back a bit to keep from falling. He sheathes his greataxe and pulls out his shortbow. Which kinda looks like a toy bow in his hands
GM Harker |
A few things, Ib. I'm not sure why you rolled damage with a dexterity modifier and a strength modifier. Thrown weapon damage uses a strength modifier unless you have some magical property that changes that. Also, you rolled 4 dice for the crit damage, when you should only be rolling 3 for a starknife, you also multiple your strength bonus damage per die on a crit (i.e., original damage + 2d3+4). Lastly, you have a Cleave as one of your Feats, but you don't have the Power Attack prerequisite. Please fix your character sheet to have legal Feats before you post your next action.
Ib aims a starknife at the small, apparently evil creature and hits, although the injuries caused were not quite as effective as Ib's perfect throw would indicate.
Muirdarcaien readies himself for a better opportunity to attack, while Growler stays back while drawing a ranged weapon.
Snarling, the creature flies over to the halfling fighter and thrusts his spear at him, stabbing Ib somewhat severely in the shoulders. Ib takes 7 piercing damage.

GM Harker |
Xien, I believe there's no clearing room to get a running jump with your allies in those squares. You can still attempt the jump, but with a greater DC since you won't be able to run. Muir tried to do the same thing earlier and I advised him of the same information. You may change your action if you like, I'll hold off on resolving Alexandria's action since it is dependent on you vacating your previous square.
Ib, a glaive is a reach weapon, so you cannot use it on an adjacent square. Please choose another action.
PC's are all still up.
