Leaning over to Ibid, Cyrus whispers, What are you doing up here old man? You aren't here to check on me are you? ... wait... It sounds like they just heard us...

Claire probably convinced him to climb up here hoping he would fall and break his neck... He is as much of a sucker as I am...

Cyrus looks all over the building for some sort of entrance.

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9

If there is an entrance up here, I would like to suggest the party on the ground break in through the door while Ibid and I go through the roof. If not, Ibid and I will need to climb down...

Cyrus leans over the edge of the building to signal his companions. In hushed tones, he relays the information he has gathered.

3 to 5 bad guys inside, they know we are here. We're going to find a way in from the top. If we can, we will signal you to bust through the door the same time we drop in from the ceiling...

"Well it looks like just you, Jacob, and myself for the ground assault team." Sun whispers to Claire and Jacob, pulling out his scimitar and readying his shield. Taking a deep breath, he readies himself to be brave.

Ok, so the roof scouting thing is not in the written scenario. I'll try to a-lib as fairly as I can. The solution is too cool to waste!

The team on the roof locates a trap door near the center. The roof is in poor repair, and in the dim light through a single crack, the team identifies there are three armed men waiting at the bottom of the 8-foot drop.

They heard you, and are waiting. Others could be present as well. It's your move. Anyone who wants to hop down through the trap door can do so with a rolled acrobatics check. The base DC for a vertical jump is 4 times the height. Or you can climb down the ladder you'll find inside. With armed foes below, be aware that they could be holding readied actions.

Ok, so I probably should have set things a bit more clearly. For clarity, I'm going to treat your actions in opening the doors as a surprise round. The enemy are not flat-footed once the regular round starts, regardless of init order. This may not be strictly RAW per the Core book, so please excuse me. I am exercising my GM "artistic license". I will not alter the enemy's stats or numbers, and will follow their tactics as closely as may be. I'm not out to get you by any means.

Clair kicks open the wharfside door, and sends her scythe careening towards one of the two armed men inside! It sails past his ear, returning to her hand!

Meanwhile, on the roof, Cyrus throws open the trapdoor. The commotion at the front distracts the three armed men, who look away as the Flea trips over the edge and lands on his backside We'll roll a d8 for landing spot, and you are prone, mechanics-wise.

Arion's javelin catches a distracted guard unawares, and leave a deep wound in the man's chest.

OK, so I'll get a map link at the top of the thread. Please note that Arion and Ibid are still on the roof.

Most crew would be with the mistress. Don't know who she's after or why. But her right hand guy Mumbuckle might. Could be he's on board the Lionfish"

They are not lying or hiding anything. Each man wears masterwork studded leather and Carries an ordinary cutlass as well as a smokestick and a tanglefoot bag. The group easily finds the injured woman, who corroborates the thugs' story. She also confirms that your target was on the ship that was attacked. You also uncover three acid flasks and a masterwork longsword.

Cyrus winks at Ibid, pulling out his notebook to take a few notes from the frightened thugs comments.

Lionfish
Right hand - Mumbuckle
Magic disguise
Hijacks ships and sails them herself

After looking the thugs up and down, he finds one of them who is pretty close to his own size and body dimensions.

You, Off with your armor. I hope you took a bath this morning...

After donning the well crafted armor, Cyrus grabs one of the flasks of Acid and puts it carefully in his pack.

Does anyone else want to carry one of these? Could come in handy later... Knowing what we know now, we should head straight to the Lionfish. At the very least we can prevent the next attack by disabling her ship, and if we are lucky, we can find her and put an end to her.

Something tells me Claire would probably enjoy a box of chocolates and a dead body more than candy and flowers... Cyrus shudders at his internal thoughts, still not sure whether to be excited or terrified.

I bet I could find out if I brought her a dead pirate...

Dangit! Why does that always come out loud instead of in my head!?

Cyrus blushes and moves quickly ahead to avoid any further awkward conversation.

I'll check things out in front of us, make sure we aren't walking into an ambush...

She takes the last flask of acid, and puts it inside her backpack.

I'd prefer to not use this, because it may burn away at someone's body, but it may come in handy.

Sorry for the delayed post, went to help chop down trees at the folks house then to perform in a concert this weekend.

Sun, stiring from the healing, stays for an extra couple moments on the ground finding it oddly comfortable.

"Thanks Clarie, you are not as bad as everybody says you are." Sun says to Claire with a quick smile before finally getting slowly to his feet. "How long was I out?" Sun looks around and sees all the guards tied up, some without clothes.

"Guess I was out quite a while." Sun will grab a tanglefoot bag, a smoke stick, and a acid flask unless someone objects.

"I don't need a flask of acid since I already have one. But I will take a smokestick and a tanglefoot bag. If no one wants the masterwork longsword I'll take it. So let's be on our way to the Lionfish."

The woman talks to Arion:

"My name is raid, Iatha Oedricius a theologian specializing in the study of ancient Thassilonian religions. I'm well known in certain circles, and the Order of Cyphers called on me to aid in the ongoing research of the Cyphergate. I'm not exactly sure why we were targeted, perhaps for ransom. Probably the same thing she hope to get for that other scholar."

The party makes their way to the Docks and the Lionfish. On the way, Cyrus notices a couple of half-orc thugs tailing the group.

You three are up! Next time, if you want a regular buffer to get you first, you can ready an action to trigger after the buff. We may need to do more of a block unit in later combats anyway. That may be first to post is first to go.
