Altair al-Behzad |
Altair's AoO.
Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
GM Derek W |
Altair's attack misses! The devilish creature vanishes then reappears outside!
Party is up!
Vrald Sehir |
Vrald spins on his heels and charges the creature!
power attack charge: 1d20 + 13 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (16) + 13 + 2 - 2 = 29
damage, (magic, Adamantine), PA: 1d8 + 8 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 8 + 4 = 20
Rogar Valertis Alastoris |
I assume Rogar missed too, right?
As the creature disappears Rogar feels a moment of disorientation before hearing shouts coming from outside. Noticing Vrald charging he then follows suit.
Power attack roll: 1d20 + 13 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 13 + 2 = 31 -> Damage roll: 2d6 + 11 + 6 ⇒ (3, 4) + 11 + 6 = 24
Seems like the only way for Rogar to reach the creature is to charge, I trust that he can see the target considering he had a diagonal line on the side of the creature
Belousov Zhabotinsky |
Seeing the fighters score some heavy blows on the creature, Belousov pitches in with a telekinetic projectile.
Attack: 1d20 + 7 - 4 ⇒ (3) + 7 - 4 = 6
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Shonne |
Shonne leaps through the window, charging through the spot the devilish man was just standing.
perception (quick look around as a move action): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28
Wembly Templeton |
Wembly hears the commotion of combat out front and urges Whiskers to rush back.
We need to help them, buddy!
Double-move
GM Derek W |
Many, many apologies. I had a big "do now" project at work on Thursday and Friday, then took my kids to my in-laws all day yesterday.
Rogar's earlier attack roll of 15 was a miss, yes.
Rogar and Vrald both connect with heavy blows, but neither seems to injure the creature quite as much as it should. It still looks to have been seriously injured.
Belousov's magical attack misses.
Shonne takes in the scene - it looks like the shabby dwelling of servants. Not dirty, but everything seems old and worn. She can see there is no one else present.
Wembly and Whiskers move around to help the group!
Altair still gets a turn before the creature is up again!
Altair
Bad guy
Pathfinders
GM Derek W |
In case I forgot to answer this before, there should be ample space "off the map" to move between this house and the others in the row.
GM Derek W |
Thanks Wembly!
Altair's attack is a miss!
The man-like creature takes a step back and then tosses a rope at Vrald!
Fun SLA versus touch AC!: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (9) + 15 = 24
The rope lands on Vrlad and seems to move on its own, almost like a snake, trying to restrict the warrior's movements!
Vrald Reflex v. rope: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Vrald struggles against the rope, but becomes entangled!
If you'd like to use a re-roll, please feel free. I will say that this is about the only trick I have to give this particular fight any tension!
Pathfinders are up!
Rogar Valertis Alastoris |
"Neat trick!" exclaims Rogar raising his sword and slashing down at full force.
Power Attack Roll: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (14) + 13 = 27 -> Damage Roll: 2d6 + 11 + 6 ⇒ (6, 2) + 11 + 6 = 25
"I would like to be able to do things like that but unfortunately I'm only good at swinging my sword..."
Altair al-Behzad |
Altair moves around and waits for someone to position themselves opposite the man.
Move and ready an attack for someone to step into flank.
Attack: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 7 + 2 = 28
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Sneak Attack: 3d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 4) = 11
If the man takes sneak attack damage his speed is cut in half and cannot take 5-foot steps for 1 round.
Belousov Zhabotinsky |
Belousov tries to strike the enemy again.
Telekinetic Projectile: 1d20 + 7 - 4 ⇒ (11) + 7 - 4 = 14
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Vrald Sehir |
So.. entangled.. Vrald can move at half speed? Is there a restriction against 5' stepping? The condition doesn't specifically rule against that
I'm going to assume he can 5' step, and thus get two attacks, please ignore the second if you rule he can't 5' step. Attack rolls include the -2 for being entangled
Vrald does his best to ignore the rope, but it is difficult.
He steps forward and slashes at the creature.
power attack, entangled: 1d20 + 13 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (14) + 13 - 2 - 2 = 23
itterative power attack, entangled: 1d20 + 8 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (8) + 8 - 2 - 2 = 12

itterative damage1, PA (magic, cold iron): 1d8 + 8 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 8 + 4 = 13
Wembly Templeton |
Wembly watches as the warriors go to work on the man-thing.
What in the First World is this guy?
He moves further south and will cast glitterdust on the creature to ensure he does not try any other tricks.
DC17 Will or be blinded
Whiskers will stride up and try to bite him, providing flank with Altair if that is still needed.
Whiskers bite, flank: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 8 + 2 = 27
for dmg: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Shonne |
Shonne moves up to the battle and readies to block a possible escape path.
+1 spear (thrown, bull's strength): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23 damage: 1d8 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 4 + 2 = 13
GM Derek W |
Will: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
Hemmed in by his foes, the creature takes heavy damage. It fights off the effects of glitters us to and is wounded by Roger, Altair, and Vrald. Even Whiskers opens a small wound.
Belousov cannot connect with his invisible fist of telekinetic power.
Shonne gets ready to cut off his escape.
The wicked devil lashes out at Roger with his long sword.

I think both hit. Had to look up damage on my phone.

Vrald Sehir |
Vrald steps sideways to allow Roger into the battle, and continues to strike with his enchanted sword.
"Surrender!" he cries, but for this foe he continues to use the sharp edge of his blade while it fights on.

The young knights blows are quick, but not very precise.
Altair al-Behzad |
Altair continues to strike from his advantageous position.

Wembly Templeton |
Wembly urges Whiskers to press the attack while he directs the green cat.
Keep after him, boy! This is no farmer or merchant, but some fiend I'll warrant by the looks of him!

Rogar Valertis Alastoris |
"Ouch!" says Rogar following after the creature swinging widely
Power Attack roll: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (5) + 13 = 18 -> Damage roll: 2d6 + 11 + 6 ⇒ (1, 5) + 11 + 6 = 23
Rogar Valertis Alastoris |
Sure this guy is pretty tough... We caused it at least 78hp of damage (I'm assuming DR5) and he's still standing
GM Derek W |
Yes, he has quite a few HP, but he's definitely on his last legs!
Vrald, Altair, and Rogar all miss. Whiskers lands a bite and nearly takes the man down.
do you need to roll CMB for grab, or is it automatic?
Belousov and Shonne are up!
Belousov Zhabotinsky |
It should take a separate CMB roll.
Belousov launches another projectile at the creature, trying to finish him off.
Telekinetic Projectile: 1d20 + 7 - 4 ⇒ (20) + 7 - 4 = 23
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Confirm Crit: 1d20 + 7 - 4 ⇒ (12) + 7 - 4 = 15
Crit Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
GM Derek W |
This guy has SR. If it applies to your telekinetic fist ability, please go ahead and roll. If the spell lands, this fight is over!
Belousov Zhabotinsky |
Nope, no SR. For the record, this is the Telekinetic Projectile cantrip I'm using. My evocation implement boosts the damage by 3.
GM Derek W |
Belousov's magic strikes true, and the fiendish enemy collapses on the ground in front of you!
Out of combat! And apologies for that being a long one.
Vrald Sehir |
Vrald untangles himself from the ropes and steps up to the fiend, checking to see if life still exists within it.
"We should look at those buildings it came from as well.." he suggests.
"And then return this second wedding present to the happy couple."
A tear runs down his face.
"So romantic! This is a wedding day that will surely be talked about for years to come!"
Rogar Valertis Alastoris |
Rogar raises one eyebrow at Vrald's consideration:"I'm not sure about the romantic part but yes... this event will surely be remembered..." he comments while checking out the edifice interior.
Perception check: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Wembly Templeton |
What...where...who...was this guy?
Wembly shakes his head.
Vrald and Rogar...it takes alot of gall to steal wedding presents from newlyweds. This guy did not seem to be a common robber...there seems to be something about his motives I am yet to understand.
As master Ignizi Dinnelletter used to say, 'It just does not add up!'
Vrald Sehir |
"Diabolic forces, slavers, and wicked sorcerers. Who can understand such things?" says Vrald. It would appear the young knight is not especially concerned about things "adding up".
GM Derek W |
The party searches the nearby buildings and don't turn up any new information or items. You do find a pair of servants, an Ulfen man and woman.
The defeated foe is identified as an erinyes devil, and its longsword and longbow, both obviously magical, remain behind.
You recall that in your earlier searching you found a battered journal. Its notes describe sites near Katheer, but the text readily falls open to a section describing the Tomb of the Upright High Priest Ubaidah Abd-Hikmah.
As for Ibn-Chadli's whereabouts there are no written clues.
Rogar Valertis Alastoris |
Why do the bow and sword stay behind? If we had identified them as magical I suppose we would have taken them with us
Rogar scratches his head:"Seems like the only place left to search is this Tomb of Ubaidah Abd-Hikmah... we should go... unless someone else has a beteter idea, of course..."
Vrald Sehir |
I think he means that when the devil vanishes back to hell, the bow and sword remain for us to pick up.
Vrald looks at the devil blade with a bit of distrust.
"Can any of you tell what fell enchantments may be on these?"
He turns to the servants. "You there. Tell us what you know of your master and his plans."
"We must return to the wedding and appraise them of the situation, return the gifts and then head to either this tomb, or the smugglers den near Katheer!"
he pronounces with certainty.
Unless the servants provide any other clues that is.
Wembly Templeton |
Wembly listens to the human's accounting.
I will see what I can tell of the devil's weapons, vrald
Detect magic on the pair. sadly no kn:arcana
1d20 ⇒ 2 +5 Spellcraft or +12 UMD bah! nevermind
Shonne |
Shonne casts detect magic as well and looks over the stuff.
spellcraft (ID): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12
spellcraft (ID): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15
Well I'm glad I got those lousy rolls out of the way! ;)
"Leave it. Let's go."
Rogar Valertis Alastoris |
Btw, anyone willing to heal Rogar? Naturally he can lend his wand of CLW for the task. Thanks in advance"
Belousov Zhabotinsky |
Shonne should be able to activate it for you.
"I think searching this tomb should be our next step. No sense in pestering the family with every little development."
Shonne |
Shonne nods once in agreement with Belousov.
She then looks at the Taldan fighter's preposterously (I assume/to her mind) carved and filigreed wand quizzically, wondering for a moment whether the man has just handed her an art object to hold while he rummages for his real wand. When no further wand is forthcoming Shonne determines which end to hold, says the command phrase as instructed and applies it to the man's wounds.
ornate wand of cure light wounds (Rogar): 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
ornate wand of cure light wounds (Rogar): 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8

ornate wand of cure light wounds (Rogar): 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Say when.
Anyone else? Shonne has her own wand and she's not afraid to use it.
Vrald Sehir |
"It is not a matter of disturbing the wedding, so much as returning their gifts to them." explains Vrald.
"Unless you really want to take a valuable and delicate wedding gift to what is likely to be a fight with a sorcerer that is..."
He shakes his head.
"I thought not. A side trip back won't take us long, and will bring joy to the couple and the Lady of Silver's father, I am sure."
GM Derek W |
Vrald is correct about the magic weapons. My description was unclear, but once the devil hit zero HP he faded out, rather than lying there bleeding.
The party isn't able to identify the weapons at the moment. The 2 servants mention that they overheard their master discussing the same tomb you were reading about. He should be out there.
Vrald argues for dropping off the found gift on the way out of town to investigate. You leave the estate after healing up and begin walking back towards the wedding site.
A company of three dozen heavily-armored horsemen and a handful of robed and veiled sorcerers approach, their splendid equipment gleaming mirror-bright. From their midst, a massively built man rides forward, his face obscured by a golden helm. “Pathfinders!” he shouts. “You are hereby arrested and ordered to appear before the Court of His Exalted Eminence, Xerbystes II, Defender of the Zho and Satrap of Glorious Katheer, praise be upon him. Lay down your arms and come with us to hear your accusers, lest you arouse the terrible displeasure of His Eminence!”
Belousov Zhabotinsky |
Whoops, I forgot I can identify the magic weapons without a check using my Object Reading ability.
"Just what are we being charged of?"
Anyone have Knowledge (local) to know what this is all about?
Shonne |
Shonne scans the area for likely exits.
Rogar Valertis Alastoris |
Thanks Shonne, can you heal Rogar once more? He's back to 44 hp now but let's try to get him to full hps, thanks again
As the raiders approach and make their demands clear Rogar spats loudly:"Quadirans!"
"Damn! They are way too many for us to overcome! Was this a trap all along? Treacherous vipers!"
"So you want us to surrender our weapons and come with you... and why should we trust you?" says Rogar venomously while keeping his hand on the pommel of his sword.
