Kyunjiro's sensitive whiskers lead you to a crop of fungus that hides a fold in the stone that further hides a deeper tunnel. The tunnel stretches for several dozen feet before it curves out of sight.

The light of the surface world above provides a welcome reprieve from the blue and green fungus of the caverns below, and light illuminates a stream whose water is hastened by runoff from a recent storm further up the mountains. A ledge to the west rises up to the nearby forest canopy.

Under the dim light of the moon, you see Janira battling with a relentless minotaur on the other side of the river. The minotaur's axe looks cracked, and they both look to be flagging under the strain of their chase and battle.

Janira shouts, “You vile beast! I know not what drives your black heart, but I shall not fail in my duty. I shall see you driven from this forest, back to the hills from whence you came!”

Recalling his lessons on mobility during an engagement Father Conflict calls out a prayer asking for Callistria's blessing as he approaches Janira and the minotaur.

Using the War Blessing, War Mind, Father Conflict increases his speed by 10 ft this round. He also casts Divine Favor on himself.

Janira glances to the edge of the river. In the moonlight, you think you see a flicker of relief slip across her face. She seems to be weighing her options as she dances defensively in front of the minotaur. Finally, she makes a decision and carefully breaks away from the beast. She retreats into the cover of the woods near the river's edge.

You faintly hear her reciting encouraging stories of past Pathfinders.

The minotaur snorts and follows, but stops at the forest edge. It grips the half of its axe and eyes the tiger warily.

Ironleaf finally makes it to the bank of the river, running as fast as he can.

"Keep leading him away, we can support and flank for you!" Ironleaf yells to Janira.


Stripes makes his way to the river, and, being a cat, thinks better than to get himself wet. Running south at his full speed, he makes his way across the log, ready to assist and flank the beast.

Sira moves up, as much as he can through the greenery-as much as Gorehard is cursing himself about his choice of armor, Sira is cursing himself for his choice of Sacramental Cognatogen,

In a few deft movements he produces a volitile concoction, and hurls it, just outside his normal range.

Sira's bomb flies too high and lands far behind the minotaur in a fiery but harmless--unless you're a plant in the area--explosion. Kyunjiro manages to fire an arrow between two saplings and strike the minotaur's arm just before the beast turns on the tiger and swings its mighty axe. Once. The tiger takes a glancing blow that manages to drive him onto the ground. Twice. The axe swings wide. And then the bull-man tries to drive its sharp horns into the tiger, but aims too short and scoops the dirt instead.

Janira waits until the minotaur is distracted and then snaps her whip out toward the axe, but she can't quite snag it.

I believe with a 10' reach I expect the minotaur to have I am now throwing into melee combat as well...

Sira moves up and throws another bomb...possibly determined to rebuild himself at the first season and never throw one again if he misses.

Gorehard rushed through the trees, then looked to the log, then across the way "Just hang on Janira!" He looked to Sira speaking about gambling and dues, then grinned, running at the log at full speed.

Pausing for a moment to focus on his attack, Father Conflict decides to follow Janira's example. He takes a step up and attempts to knock the axe from the minotaur's grasp, thinking the beast will be far less dangerous without its favorite weapon.

Gorehard grunted as he lost his footing on the log, but managed to hold on. Feeling like a fool, he looked to his left at the battle off to the side, hoping he doesn't arrive too late to help.

Gorehard catches himself on the slippery log and holds on tight. Kyunjiro fires another accurate arrow through the brush. The minotaur gives a roar of pain as it burrows into his flank. Sira's bomb slices left and nearly takes off Janira's eyebrows when it explodes, but it catches the distracted minotaur and leaves several blistered wounds.

Shocked that his bomb actually hit the minotaur after his arm spasmed when hr let loose of the explosive projectile, Sira manages,

The tiger leaps onto the minotaur and begins to maul the giant. Choosing life over pride, the beast withdraws. Unfortunately, it is unable to cover its entire escape into the wilderness.

Stripes can take an AoO if he chooses--remember, this is a single attack, not a full attack.

Ironleaf:

Swimming is not like Climbing. You need to be in the water to Swim. Thus your 14 would put you at Treading Water in the gap where I presume you entered. Casting a spell while Swimming would require a Concentration check (DC 16). However, to save my sanity, resolve Stripe's AoO before putting yourself in the water. You may also opt to make a second DC 15 Swim check to get back out of the water rather than cast.

The halfling subconsciously avoids eye contact with Gorehard as she says the last bit.

And I learned I need to maybe not just rush in, to think before leaping. Or trying to run across a log. And at least the Gillman weren't up to no good, which is a relief-though if there's a fight to have happen against more zombies, I'll do my best to help, if I can...
