I assume till be two actions to retrieve the two weapons, DM, so that'll be it for me this round.

Oh, that's right - you don't have armour on, do you, Shel?

Would you mind updating your "header" thingy to have the adjusted AC values? You were probably hit by the attack in that case.

Same request for everyone not wearing armour.

Calm and collected, Mifune held onto the sheathed blade by his side, looking not at the raiders, but past them at the target of his challenge. As far as the samurai was concerned, this was a dueling ground with but himself and his opponent, no one else. So should he come across an obstacle that would dare to stand in his way...like say a hapless raider...well, sand in his boots would be the least of his worries.

As Mifune neared the Raider that was accosting Shel, he glared angrily in the direction of their leader before deftly striking at the warrior in front of him with the sheathed end of his blade.

"Your blood is not worth even the flat of this one's blade."

What's the duration on bless, btw?

Luck seems to have deserted Terrill as he draws his blade for a swing and a miss, his strike going nowhere near connecting to the Ulfen raider opposite. Trys, meanwhile, bolts, terrified by some unknown vision.

Shel draws her weapons, but the Ulfen berserkers are too far gone in their rage to listen to reason (although it's unlikely they'd care about the state of a party dress in general, really). Mifune moves up beside the halfling and strikes powerfully with the scabbard of his blade. The blow sends the Ulfen reeling, although he soon shakes his head and recovers. "Is that the best you got?!"

Mifune, you and Kynrac attempted to move to the same square. Normally I'd give your action precedence because you come first in initiative order, but Kynrac positioned himself for a spell in a way that wouldn't work otherwise. I moved you one square to the left of where you said, anyway.

In future, Mifune, go ahead and move your own token on the map :)

Jakarno casts a glinting and glimmering powdery sheen over the enemy lines, causing all three of the raiders to groan and clutch at their eyes as the sparkling particles momentarily blind them. Olaf, however, seems unaffected, glaring straight through the falling glitterdust.

Kynrac's curse becomes his boon as he channels flames across the battlefield, searing Olaf's three lackeys. Through sheer luck, two of them happened to have their shields facing in the right direction when the gout of flame spewed over them, shielding them from the worst. However, the one closest to him isn't so fortunate and screams in pain as the fire washes over him. He can't see, he's got a terrible bruise on his temple, and he's all burned up - he's not exactly looking too hot! (Or perhaps a little too hot. Heh.)

The warriors take up defensive stances, raising their shields high to protect themselves from oncoming blows. Completely in the dark, they attempt to lash out at the place where they'd last seen someone, although only one manages to land a hit. Terrill winces as another axe digs into his front, and he's glad that he still has his breastplate on or it may have been worse... (7 damage)

Olaf turns his wild eyes upon Mifune and shouts more nonsense in the awful and hissing language.

    Aklo:
"The dragon of the world rises! You cannot stand in the way of what has been foretold! If you value the fate of all who live, you will remove yourself from my path-- and if you do not, then I will remove you!"

And then, with a scream of savage rage, he charges across the sands and sinks his axe deep into the samurai's side. And I mean deep. With only his hakama to protect him, even the stalwart Mifune might cringe at the blood spurting from that wound... (That's a whopping 22 damage.)

Up on the longboat, Eleanir starts pulling sliced sailcloth away from Michellia.

"Michellia! Your husband-to-be's an apocalyptic madman-- maybe he'll listen to you! Wake up!"

Alice - Is the damage listed (15 hp for Terrill) the total taken in this combat, or in this round? He has healed 2 more with Judgement of Sacred Healing, but I'm not sure where that leaves him without knowing whether that's total damage or not. It looks like you added 10 from last round, 7 from this round, -2 from last round's healing. So the 15 reflects damage and healing so far - is that correct?

In a feeble attempt to deflect the Ulfen warrior's wrath, Mifune's sheathed blade shot out as the axe slid down the length of the scabbard and drove deep into his side. Grimacing at the blood quickly soaking through his ruined formal wear, the samurai stood resolute even battered and bloodied.

Barely registering Kynrac's presence behind him, Mifune instead recognized the Oracle's powerful magics as he felt the weight of his wounds alleviated somewhat by his machinations. Facing down this mountain of a man, the Minkaian Pathfinder of Cheliax stared him down as he lunged forward with lightning speed, hands gripping tight onto the katana by his side as he drew, slashed, and sheathed in one fluid motion.

I am rolling obscenely well this combat. Shockingly rare; usually I wind up experiencing a flurry of misses...

Terrill calls out to his Goddess, wondering if he had offended her in some way for all his luck to have dissipated. Perhaps she knows something about the fate of this man that you do not...

Trys, quick to shake off the effects of Olaf's spell, charges back across the battlefield and lands a resounding blow upon one of the raiders' temple. All are left to wonder how she didn't completely break the poor man's skull as he's sent flying across the beach as easily as one would hit a ball. The Ulfen warrior lands a short distance away with a dull thud, completely dead to the world. He miiight wake up with a bit of a headache after that one. Also possibly some brain damage.

You did so much damage that half your crit damage was lethal damage. :P

Shel deftly slashes across the hamstring of the nearest warrior; his screams of howling pain continue for some time as he collapses onto the sands, clutching at the bleeding wound. Eventually his cries die out to a dim whimper and then silence as the stress and pain overcomes his senses. The nimble halfling does not miss a beat as she steps up to land a nasty slice across the other man's chest, cutting through his armour to hit the flesh below.

Mifune's iaijutsu is clearly too fast for the untrained eye to follow, for Olaf merely blinks in confusion as a sudden deep cut appears on his person. He stares at the crimson trail as if that blood was not his own, frowning darkly, seeming a little shaken by the samurai's skill. However, the mighty Ulfen warrior does not seem ready to fall just yet... pray that Terrill's pleas may reach his Goddess before Olaf's axe digs deeper still! (The blue raider saved, alas.)

Jakarno steps forward with what he hopes is life-saving magic, spraying Olaf with a brilliant and psychadelic light spray that ultimately seems to do nothing at all. It truly appears that Lady Luck is not on the side of the Pathfinders this afternoon...

Kynrac rewinds time on Mifune's wounds, halfway sealing them, but even his mastery of the ages is not enough to completely cure the samurai of the pain. Hopefully what meagre efforts you managed are enough... for now.

The one remaining lackey of Olaf cannot see his attackers, but he knows that SOMEONE just came up and slashed him in the chest, and so he lashes out angrily - and through pure misfortune (for her, at least) manages to catch Shel as she ducks back into a defensive stance after attacking him. (You take 10 damage.)

Meanwhile, the head honcho steps back half a foot from Mifune, just out of the reach of his katana, and takes a deep breath. He closes his eyes, concentrating for a moment; when he reopens them, some of the madness has dissipated, ever-so-slightly. With fingertips glowing with blue magics, he gently heals some of the damage sustained before readying himself for his next attack.

He speaks, slowly yet resolutely, apparently unaware that none here can understand him. The rage seems to be on the verge of returning.

    Aklo:
"I will fulfil my destiny, interlopers be damned! The great dragon spreads its wings, and I alone can avert the ruin of all things! My seed shall be planted in the rose-soil, and from this the Slayer of the Wyrm will come! Flee, or fall! Do not question the path of time, fools!"

From upon the deck of the boat comes the following shouts:

"Michellia! Get UP! You need to talk to Olaf... and then probably Mother, because otherwise I am so dead--"

"*hack cough* ...Eleanir? Eleanir... you... ...you little bitc--"

The real Michellia seems to be simultaneously struggling to get to her feet and strangle her twin sister. Considering her grogginess and the fact that she's likely considerably weaker than an adventurer... it's more of a wild flailing of limbs, really.

@Terrill - Correct you are! And that makes you 11 this round.

@Trys - It's not too relevant in this case, but you are not actively using your Intimidate tool, so you do not get its bonus on your check. Remember that for the future - it's not a cheap instant way to get a bit of a boost on a skill, you actually need to use them.

Just before Terrill begins to really think that his Goddess has completely abandoned him, he finally, finally manages to land a blow on the final remaining raider - just. Perhaps the fact that he barely managed to hit is luck in itself. Hmm. His curved blade cuts through the man's back and elicits a terrible howl of pain; he seems to be standing more through sheer force of will more than anything else.

Trys slams her hammer down upon Olaf, and he cringes back against her fearsome demeanour, looking just about ready to head for the hills. Still... he does not drop. Not yet, at least.

Shel grits her teeth and finishes off the third Ulfen warrior, on his last legs and barely able to put up even the slightest of fights against her. A fresh spray of blood stains her party dress as he collapses to the sands; unlike the other two, he does not seem to be breathing.

Mifune takes advantage of Olaf's terrified state to drive his blade back across in the opposite direction to the first wound. By all accounts the warrior should be dead - and yet somehow he keeps himself standing, frothing at the mouth with a mix of bubbling spit and churning blood.

Jakarno's spell takes effect next, coating the axe handle with blue grease (although with the amount of blood pouring out of his numerous wounds, it quickly turns purple). The crazed axeman cannot hold onto his weapon, weakened by the effects of his wounds, and it slips from his grasp onto the sand in a big sticky mess.

Kynrac seals the worst of Mifune's remaining wounds up; there's little left now but some bruising and soreness.

Breathing heavily, his eyes wild and yet distant, the bedraggled warrior begins to step slowly back towards his longboat. With obvious pain he forces his way up the gangplank to stand tall at the only entrance to the ship, and spreads his arms wide as if to block any to pass. He begins to mutter, under his breath at first, but gradually becoming louder and louder until he practically shrieks at the party.

    Aklo:
"I will not... let you touch... my bride... I will not... let the world... fall to cinders... I will not... I will NOT!"

Michellia and Eleanir briefly stop their scuffle, silenced by Olaf suddenly appearing in such a state. They glance at each other, slowly nod in truce, and then carefully back the hell away. (Michellia drags a bit of the torn sailcloth with her, to protect her dignity; she seems to have been left with only her underwear after Eleanir stripped her of her dress...)

"Tell us what's going on here, or we will come over there and beat the answer out of you " Shel pants toward the two women, as she uses all of her willpower to keep from pitching over on the grass. "And someone is buying me a new dress," she shrieks.

"I'd like to know that myself!" Michellia (the real Michellia... the one in her undergarments) retorts back, her voice wavering with the stress of trying to keep composed given the situation. She shoots a pointed glare at her sister, who grimaces in response.

"It's... it's a long story," Eleanir offers weakly.

If Olaf can be considered 'defeated', then I can rescind this post. But if he should still be considered a threat and we're still in combat, then Mifune's action holds.

"Your story can wait. This one has unfinished business with the one you call 'Olaf'."

Stalking across the shore towards the Ulfen Oracle, the bloodlust shining in Mifune's gaze warned the wary to stay out of his way and the concerned to find some logical reason to stop what the samurai viewed as an honorable, albeit unfinished, duel.

Hand resting on the hilt of his katana, the samurai stepped into the Ulfen's range, while at the same time placing him in the range of his own blade.

    Standard Action: Attack (Power Attack): 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 8 + 1 = 25

He's still a threat and will certainly attack if you persist in attacking him / coming near the ship / rescuing Michellia, although he is currently weaponless and you also have absolutely no idea how he's still alive at this point. See also: Diehard :P

Mifune carefully moves up to finish the duel - it's clear to his battle-trained senses that the Ulfen warrior is not long for this world anyway, his innards halfway falling out of his mortal frame - and to die quickly and painlessly in battle is better than to die out slowly in wracking pain. The samurai moves up and neatly ends Olaf's life with a swift thrust, his katana passing through his ribcage and out the other side. Olaf finally falls with a choked grunt.

The Blakros twins are rather silent and white-faced at the scene of carnage before their eyes...

Moving quickly behind the deadly focus of Mifune's attack, Terrill hustles up the gangplank to assist Michellia, draping his midnight blue cloak over her to protect her modesty - or at least keep her warm. In a gentle voice, he says, "Let's get you back inside, and let your family know you're safe." In a much firmer tone to Eleanir, he continues, "And you, you've got some explaining to do. You've cost four men their lives, and by the end of tonight, I expect you'll have ruined a hell of a party."

Thanks for the wand taps, Kynrac.

Two of the men are alive, actually - Messers Red and Green have nonlethal damage and so are only unconscious. A Heal check might help Mr. Blue as well, if done in short order.

Michellia smiles gratefully at Terrill, clutching at the cloak around her neck to close it around her front. Eleanir appears surly and scornful, kind of like the attitude a child might give upon being discovered to be doing something their parents always told them not to...

"He's right, Eleanir," Michellia mutters sourly. "What the hell were you up to here? You wanted to impersonate me? How long do you think that would have worked?"

"Oh please," Eleanir shoots back, "don't give me that patronising tone. It worked well enough when we were teenagers, or don't you remember the days before you were content to be the Perfect One?"

Michellia glares at her twin. "And what do you think Damian would have done when he found out you were fooling him? He's not a man you want to cross, you know! He--" Michellia cuts herself off, shaking her head and swallowing.

"Perhaps I should let you be his wife," she says the next second, smiling thinly to herself. "Maybe then you'd realise the 'pampered' life is not all what you think it is!"

They seem just about ready to go at each other's throats again. Oh boy.

"Ladies, if you don't mind..." interrupts Terrill. "We've no particular wish to see the Blakros dirty laundry aired here. But, Eleanir, I think we are owed an explanation for what happened here, and what you were trying to accomplish. Now would be a good time to explain that."

I knew they weren't all dead, but did Eleanir? And the effect was much greater than saying that Red and Green only have nonlethal damage, and we might even be able to help Blue. ;P

    Oh, certainly. ;)

Eleanir sighs, taking a seat on a barrel and running a hand through her dishevelled hair. "Nobody was supposed to get hurt," she sighs. "I've seen enough of blood and pain the last few years. Nobody was supposed to die, the way I planned it."

"Look--I met Olaf a few weeks ago as I was heading back up north from Sargava. Had enough of the heat down there to last a lifetime. He... He thought I was her, at first, but he did some spell or something to realise I wasn't."

Eleanir rubs at a bruise on her arm and continues. "He told me of the news I'd missed while I was off fighting giant mosquitoes and crazy monkey-men--my sister was getting married. And he wouldn't shut up about it either. Kept going on about how fate decreed that he was supposed to marry her or something."

Michellia looks disgusted at that, interrupting with her own spiel. "Olaf Kvaran was a suitor of mine, at the Grand Convocation where I met Damian. He was totally mad back then, even--he kept saying that if he didn't wed me, some dragon would destroy the world. Obviously not exactly prime husband material. It disturbs me to think that he would persist in going on like that."

Eleanir shrugs, although she seems somewhat apologetic as she continues. "I didn't know that much, really. All I could see was... an opportunity. The crazy old coot could get what he wanted, and... me? I could step into the life I haven't had in years. Could get a taste of what it feels like for Mother to approve of me, for once," she mumbles, bitterly.

"Oh, yes, your plan was flawless," Michellia scoffs derisively. "Send me off to be the hostage bride of a crazed would-be prophet? Really, Eleanir?"

Eleanir merely bows her head and bites her lip, finding much interest in a stain on the deck of the longboat. Michellia gives her sister a scornful look and continues. "You think it's so easy, don't you? You think I just sit around and enjoy the good life and have everything my heart desires! There's sacrifice too!"

"Oh, cry me a river," Eleanir snaps back. "When Mother eventually dies, you'll be the richest woman in Absalom, and you've never suffered more for it than a broken fingernail! You're the one who has the entire city fawning over you at your wedding, you're the one with a husband who's going to fall over himself to please you-- all I've gotten are dead friends!"

Michellia balls her fists. "You've had freedom! Do you know how often I've wished I could do as you had, just walk off from all my responsibilities? How often I've wished that in the last month?"

Obviously there's a little more to the veneer of happiness in the Blakros family than appearances might suggest...

"Quit whining you two. There are people out there with real problems, and you two are bickering about your stations in life! Just swap places for all I care. I can't tell you apart anyway, so as long as we bring back a bride, everything will be fine. Easy peasy. If that's a terrible idea, then just leave us out of it. But one of you is coming back with us.". Shel was feeling quite persnickety about the girls, and wanted to be away from them as soon as possible. She still had a huge bump on her head, and even though the blood had stopped flowing, she was a mess.

The incessant bickering was grating Mifune's nerves as he stood above Olaf's fallen form, offering a silent word of reverence to the fallen, and slightly crazy, Ulfen warrior. Katana still unsheathed, the samurai began stalking up the gangplank and towards the twins. He was neither upset nor fuming, but the calm, quiet anger he exuded seemed far more dangerous than a crazy suitor or an ex-Hellknight of a fiancée.

"Silence, you mewling quims. Both of you will be civil. Both of you will be silent. And both of you will be coming back with us to the main property: one to live her life of captivity and luxury. The other to answer for her crimes. Do I make myself clear?"
