Soft cover, giving a +4 to AC. I'm suspecting that's too severe to affect your action, so I'm going to go ahead and resolve the attacks
The Leucrotta circles around the tree and starts climbing up, drawing fire from Adowyn, who punches a hole in the striped pelt. Morvius and Zahir defend the treetop, and both of them manage to stab the beast on the way, hurting it severely. It manages to hold on to the tree, and bites at the Baron, gnawing at his bad leg..

Adowyn can ignore up to 1 person offering soft cover, but this is fine. Are we up again? If so, how many / which things are providing that cover? Thanks GM

Adowyn sends two more arrows sailing toward the Leucrotta. "This thing can take a beating, can't it Ler."

The leucrotta can take a beating, but getting hit by Adowyn's deadly shot over and over again wears down even the most resilient of animals. The creature drops from the tree, and crashes onto the forest floor, where it quickly bleeds out.
The baron is jubilant, this is definitely the tiger that attacked me all those years ago. I never suspected it would be such a dangerous creature. You have shown great skill in bringing it down. Good work, good work!
All that remains now is the target of Pathfinders' expedition: the Urapangi lowlands.
You may rest, or set out immediately
Let me guide you and show you the way to the temple, it's the least I can do, the baron says, delighted now that his nemesis has been slain.
The baron guides the group through a large freshwater swamp to a site that is almost completely overgrown by vegetation. Only bits and pieces of its brown sandstone exterior are visible from the outside.
This is the place, the baron says, good luck in your exploration, I will retreat to the camp and await your return there.

Swayaah rolls her eyes and Ilvan moans as the leucrotta finally collapses. "Yeah, yeah, not the most exciting way, I know. But hey, now we can get on with the mission."
Swayaah climbs out and takes a good look at the leucrotta. "Kind of sucks that the rivalry's over, doesn't it? Oh well, let's go to the temple in the morning."
The next day, Swayaah nods to the Baron. "Thank you for your guidance, Baron. Good luck, safe travels and congrats on your kill."

![]() |

Morvius also congratulates the Baron on the succeful hunt, despite secretly thinking it was a waste of time. The next day he is eager to get on with their real mission. Looking at his companions he asks.
Are any of you a good scout to take the lead on this?

![]() |

Adowyn gives Morvius a disapproving look. "are any of us good scouts?" Pah!
"Come on Ler."

"I can take a look around, although I'm used to cities more than temples. How about you Adowyn?"

DM Kludde |

The jungle opens up to a flight of stairs, which in turn lead to a small room.
Columns line the walls of this small room, each decorated with a high-relief carving of a monkey in a different pose. Some of the monkey sculptures sit serenely in meditation or reach out with their hands as if to deliver blessings to the viewer, while others adopt more naturalistic poses. The floor is littered with decaying plant matter and mud, and the stench of rotting muck pervades the area. An open archway leads south out into the jungle, while a second leads north deeper into the temple.
A woman heads a team of three humans, which come rushing out the northern archway. Stand aside, and let us go through, or we will cut you to pieces! the woman says.
She tries to sound tough, but there's a clear tremble of fear in her voice.

Adowyn slowly nocks an arrow to her bow as she speaks. "Woman, there are about eight of us, all well-armed, and four of you. I think you are confused about who will be slicing who into pieces IF it comes to that. I don't see why it should--why should we want to stop you from going into the jungle? But you were a bit rude just now so... why don't you ask again, nicely?"

Okay, okay, we just want to get away from that two-headed terror, and be done with it. Way too dangerous in there. Here, she says as she dumps a bag of obviously looted stuff on the floor, you can have this if you just let us through...

"Before you leave, what is that two-headed terror?" Zahir asks. "And besides that, what have you found that is so dangerous?"

DM Kludde |

At the heart of the temple, a two-headed demon lurks. It got the jump on us while we were searching the ruins. It's so... horrible... Let us out, let us out!
The leader and her two henchmen try to move past the adventurers, fear in their eyes.
Will you let them past?

![]() |

"Gods, you're useless. Now out of the way." Swayaah steps aside and waves them off, taking the bag of loot they offered.
"Okay then. Let's see what the heck this 'demon' is and complete our mission. I'm getting tired of these distractions."

DM Kludde |

Unhampered by the pathfinders, the looters make their layout and disappear into the jungle. Zaire pushes on, looks beyond the archway.
The sack contains a holy symbol (K(religion) to identify), six mosaic tiles and a magical apple made of gold.
A mosaic of a monkey-faced figure decorates the floor of this room, though the tiles that would form its eyes are missing. The north end of the room is filled with rubble blocking an arched passageway. To the west, vines and foliage intrude into the temple through an open-air balcony, while a similar balcony to the east remains relatively clear of plant life. An open archway leads south.
A small creature could squeeze past the rubble with a DC 30 Escape check

Swayaah grunts as the interlopers leave. "Fools always rush in...then again, look at us, ha!"
Knowledge(Religion): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8 "I have...no idea what symbol this is. Dad would kill me for saying that."
Swayaah takes a look around, clearly awed and impressed with the temple.
"Hey Ilvan, think you can squeeze past there?" Ilvan sniffs the rubble, sticks its head in, then quickly backs out and runs back to Swayaah. "Fine, fine." [ooc]Ilvan can't make that Escape Artist DC.[/dice]
"I'm guessing these mosaic tiles are what forms the monkey's eyes. Anyone wants to help me fit these in?"

![]() |

"Uh, sure. If you think. That's a good idea..." Adowyn helps Swaayah with the tiles.

DM Kludde |

The tiles in the loot pile were indeed taken from the mosaic, and fit together nicely to form two deep, staring eyes.

![]() |

Zahir looks suspiciously at the rubble. "And yet, the group of looters managed to reach the heart of the temple. Surely there must be a way to pass this archway. Perhaps a secret mechanism."
The Osirion man squats and pushes on the mosaic tiles, trying to find a secret passage.

The party searches for a secret passage, but it look quite apparent that a part of the temple on the east side leads further into it. (There's this ledge on the east side, indicated with an arrow). Other than that, there's no secret passage.
Morvius can't figure out what the apple is, but it does dawn on him what the purpose of this temple used to be: it is dedicated to Ragdya, Vudran god of monkey.

Can anyone look for traps to see from where those looters came from? It may help us discover the right path.

That makes more sense, huh? Well, Swayaah can check for tracks, too. Let's just say we looked for traps and tracks. Hope you guys don't mind waiting. Rangers rock!

"Wait, how did those humans enter the temple? The only way in is covered with rubble. Ilvan, track those humans." Swayaah gets on all fours and starts sniffing around in concert with her young Owlbear.

DM Kludde |

It's quite clear that the looters came from the ledge on the eastern side, and that whatever scared them so much came from beyond it. Dirty footsteps mar the floor, apparent to anybody trained in looking for them. Apart form the distant sound of wildlife - the chirp of a bird, the screech of a monkey - the area is eerily silent.

A narrow path extends between the exterior wall of the temple and the thick web of vines and tree branches that cover the temple’s walls. At either end of the path, small open-air balconies lead back into the temple.

From her position, Swayaah can be a 20-foot-tall, high-relief sculpture of a mountain that dominates the north end of a large chamber. A statue of a figure now missing its head sits in the lotus position at the mountain’s peak, while smaller statues of monkey-faced pilgrims rest on ledges farther down the mountain. Shattered pieces of yet more monkey statues litter the floor.
The southern half of the room is filled with rubble, obstructing an arched passageway to the south. In the center of the room, a small enclosed shrine made of dark brown stone faces south toward the rubble. A hallway to the west leads to a balcony overrun by foliage, while a hallway to the east leads to an open balcony.

![]() |

Monkeys! Swayaah thinks. They're almost as nutty as I am!
Swayaah walks toward the mountain relief to investigate it and the southern passageway that was blocked with rubble.
