"Boing Spung Toot Toot"
If a golem could be said to laugh, then this was certainly a laughting golem. Mighty as the apes blow was, it didn't even dent the golems armour.
15 points DR, I assume the ape doesn't overcome that, let me know if it does.
It coughts a cloud of poisonous gas at the massive ape
Poison, DC 19 or 1d4 ⇒ 2 CON damage, trying to get as many of the small apes also in the area as it can.
Then it brings down its fists.
First the left hand drives into the overgrown monkey...
Attack - left hand: 1d20 + 36 ⇒ (14) + 36 = 50
Damage - left hand: 4d12 + 27 ⇒ (12, 3, 10, 3) + 27 = 55
And then the right follows.
Attack - right hand: 1d20 + 36 ⇒ (15) + 36 = 51
Damage - right hand: 4d12 + 27 ⇒ (10, 11, 3, 2) + 27 = 53
Brodey
|
I'm just glad that big suit of armor is on our side
Brodey dodges and ducks, trying to get the timing of the unnaturally swift beast.
greatsword: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 112d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 3) + 6 = 10
While he manages to avoid its first flurry of attacks, he's thrown off enough that his own counterattack is awkward and again misses.

I'm sorry- I thought we got to attack again before the monkeys did. Getting confused by the group order thing - my bad
Seeing Brodey's attacks miss, Lunaea tries again to put that ape to sleep...

Wow. I am glad we did not have to fight that thing. We would not stand a chance.
Since the map has not been updated I can see Kelsier's old position. Looks to me like he could make it one square N of Tyraneus with a double-move by going through Lunaea's and Tyraneus' squares.

Brodey's swing a the quick monkey misses. Lunaea tries to hex it, be she isn't even sure that kind of magic will work on a demon that size.

Kelsier attack with his double-blade, but fails to connect. Tyraneus finally connects with a firebolt at the monkey, scorching it badly.

For a moment, the charau-ka are driven back, to outside the palisade walls. All eyes are focused on the battle of the titans. Haggard yet determined, the defenders quickly begin piling wrecked logs in the breach to prevent the charau-ka from making another easy attack.
A horn sounds from the west side of the camp, and then the east, and then from the tower. The lookouts shout, “They’re coming over the walls!” and the camp’s defenders run to meet the charge.
It looks like you'll have to deal with two more monkeys in this wave...

"Tootle./ blip. Krunch.."
One small scar appears in the Golems armour. It doesn't look concerned.
2 damage I think from that claw that did 17. Did the big monkey make its fort save against the poison?
The golem takes in a big breath. Who even realised they could breathe?
Rounds until it breathes again: 1d4 ⇒ 2
Then the two massive arms strike out once more at the giant ape.
Left arm: 1d20 + 36 ⇒ (2) + 36 = 38
Left arm damage: 4d12 + 27 ⇒ (5, 12, 7, 4) + 27 = 55
Right arm: 1d20 + 36 ⇒ (12) + 36 = 48
Right arm damage: 4d12 + 27 ⇒ (2, 8, 3, 7) + 27 = 47
The blows are unhurried, but brutal.
| DM Kludde |
Fort: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (6) + 17 = 23 Kinda hard to fail it
The golem delivers another pair of brutal blows, the second delivering an uppercut to the huge demon. Though the giant ape is still standing, it seems to be staggering.
Anara moves up and stands ready to receive the new wave of monkeys, who again go into a shrieking fit before they charge the halfling.
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 151d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

I had some trouble interpreting the damage on the first attack on her with the "confirm". But if that didn't do damage, then yeah, 4/17 would be correct.
Did the monkey make his save? (DC15) Could affect others' attacks.

Anara continues to fight defensively, focusing on the ape she attacked before with the readied action. After attacking she'll take a 5' step south and west away from the apes, clearing Kelsier's charge lane
kukri: 1d20 + 6 - 4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 6 - 4 + 1 = 41d3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Brodey double moves toward Anara, dropping his greatsword, drawing his shield on the first 30', his flail on the second 30'. He'll end up just behind Anara, also careful not to block Kelsier's charge lane.

Kelsier lobs the head of the standing monkey, just as the construct comes up and steps on the sleeping one, squishing the life out of it.
A ragged, much more muted cheer goes up from the camp’s exhausted defenders. The cheer is short-lived, however; almost immediately the guards in the tower sound their horns, and pointing at the cliff that looms over the south end of the dig.
Apparantly, the charau-ka are making a last-ditch attempt at breaching the camp perimeter: they are now lowering themselves - or, for some part, throwing themselves - down the southern cliff wall. Many fall, resulting in a chaotic rain of monkey, though several manage to come down in one piece.
Oleander's perspective fades and shifts, and suddenly she feels a sense of... awakening. Opening her eyes, she sees the motionless monolith standing in the middle of the camp, and she realises she's no longer controlling it.

Oleander hacks away at one monkey, and cleaves it in half before Anara can so much as bring her knife close. Kelsier then adds a lesson in effectiveness as he stabs - in two deft strokes - the monkey, then beheads it.
Combat over
With the final wave of monkey defeated, their champion dead, the remainder of the monkey horde flees back into the jungle. For the first time in over ten months, the camp enjoys a moment of quiet.
Nearly all in this camp are wounded or sick. Dias adds, after thanking the adventurers for their help I'm afraid the best course of action is to abandon this site. You have gleamed what secrets it holds, that we have, but this place is too dangerous to right now - we have no other choice but to abandon it.
Over the next several days, Dias guides the camp through packing and loading the caravan wagons to head for the coast and catch a vessel bound for Absalom. She packs away the key and the monolith control device and has the camp workers bury all signs of their dig, including triggering a rock fall to rebury the door to the Azlanti complex.
And that concluded the 'before the dawn' story arc! I'll create chronicles and report the game. Thanks for tuning in, hope you enjoyed it...
