About Lunaea Moonstruck

Lunaea is a tall, willowy girl of 18 with long silver hair, pale white skin, and light grey eyes. She wears practical and warm but light robes of dark grey to silver-white hues, and has a silver and moonstone necklace that she always wears. A careful observer will note that both her clothing and personality change with the phase of the moon, as she becomes more withdrawn and quiet, as well as somewhat less focused, in the dark of the moon and more confident, outgoing, and powerful in the full moon. She has a Nightingale familiar that normally sits on her shoulder or hides in the hood of her cloak when she goes out. She prefers the company of her bodyguard Brodey when adventuring, partly because he has a really big sword and keeps her safe, and because he understands her somewhat flighty ways and makes allowances for them - or tempers them when necessary.

Backstory:
Lunaea’s parents are prominent wizards who live in Taldor near the Verduran Forest. While they are well-connected in Absalom, they do not care to spend any more time than necessary there. They spent most of their time in the tower of their castle researching arcane spells, leaving Lunaea largely to her own devices. When the moon was up, she often snuck out of the castle and explored the countryside, learning about all the plants and animals, and speaking with anyone she met. When the moon was dark, she perused her parent’s library, reading about fascinating and magical places and even learning to read some arcane scrolls.

She became very familiar with the land for miles around, and all the people, animals, and plants in it. She often slept out by the light of the moon. Easily recognized, she was considered odd but generally well-liked, as she had a natural charisma and curiosity, treated all beings and people equally (even when wildly inappropriate), and was generally helpful and kind. She even made friends with the faeries of the woods and gained a companion nightingale with whom she secretly spoke in Sylvan. She showed a natural magical aptitude, which got her into a few scrapes, but also out of them. Little did she know her parents had long since cleared anything really dangerous from the vicinity so that she could not get into too much trouble.

During the day she could be found eating berry pies with the Halfling cooks (and staining her white dress), while learning about berries, herbs, and other culinary secrets. She often bothered the servants, hoping to learn something useful, but they were generally fond of her and often covered for her night-time excursions. As a teenager, she eventually became bored with her parents’ indifference and the local landscape, and longed to see more of the world. Making off with some of the apparently endless household wealth, she booked a passage to Absalom, where she pretended (not very successfully) to be an orphan.

After testing, the Pathfinder’s Society was happy to take her in, professing not to know of her parentage but notifying them quietly just the same. Her parents thought this a good outcome, believing that the Pathfinders might give her some structure. She can now be found in the labyrinthine Guild library, learning languages or perusing arcane texts, wandering the halls whispering to her Nightingale in Sylvan, or brewing up special travel rations in her cauldron in the hopes of going adventuring soon. She has lately been quizzing all the most experienced Pathfinders about what to take on such a journey, and assembling a backpack in her room.
