Talan, Act: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
The figure points to the fountain and then back to Talan, waggling her 'fingers' at him.

![]() |

Talan drops his head in defeat and lets his arms hang down low as if he's just suddenly deflated. "I wish I could understand a word she's saying." Words offered to the party before he snaps his fingers to enunciate the idea he's had. He'll hold out his own wayfinder to her and then point at the one in the water, trying to offer a trade.

Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
Zax stands and watches, wondering what exactly is going on. He'll use Detect Evil to see if he gains any new information that way.

![]() |

The creature at the edge of the pool has no evil, but the whole area (not just this room) seems to have some type of bad aura to it. Something very bad has happened here in the past.
Talan can't make out any more about what she is trying to communicate.

![]() |

perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
"Well, I do have a scroll of comprehend languages though I would pick someone else as the diplomat and I already used one. This is the last one I have."

![]() |

"Doesn't that spell just let you listen, not talk? Might help in understand what it's sayin' but not the other way around."

![]() |

Silgil notes that there is seam in the wall indicating a hidden passage behind the carving, though there is no obvious latch or handle for opening the door.

![]() |

Know(planes) might help determine what it is...
What language is Urias speaking?
Urias only knows Common and Orc. Can I tell what is weakening me?
Perception 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23"Urghh... My body fells really weak. Maybe the sickness of my body has spread even further then before?" as he feels chilled as well.
Looking at the figure of the Elemental. He figures it couldn't hurt.
"We're here on behalf of the Sappire Sage. You don't happen to speak our language?"

![]() |

Urias just feels really burdened down, like he is carrying all his allies gear.
She continues to speak, but in a language it would appear nobody can understand.

![]() |

@Monteray
"True, unless the creature can use the scroll and we have a second one. Still, half a conversation is better than none. If it was smart we could set up a rudimentary communication system."
@Urias
"Maybe you could start taking off your equipment and see if that helps?"

![]() |

Urias nods and begins taking putting down his equipment, his bag first then his rings, his pouches, belts befre settling down armor and lastly his halberd.

![]() |

After he drops his bag, he feels less burdened... for a while at least. In less that a minute the feeling of being weighted down comes back. Dropping his rings and then his pouches he again feels lightened, but then after a minute or so be again feels weighted down..

![]() |

Talan watches Urias strip down with mild amusement, distracted from his failed attempts at breaching the language barrier for a few quiet moments. "Well, I say we either try the scroll or leave the room. There doesn't seem to be much else in here except her fountain... Urias will need to get dressed, though."

![]() |

"Well, there may be a way on over there."
He points to a wall, then heads over and runs his hand along a seam and tries to figure out if there is a mechanism that will allow it to open.

The water spirit moves next to Silgil with a grin on her face.

Weaving a quick incantation Elektra casts detect magic, to see if Urias is under a spell.

![]() |

No spells as such, just the magical auras from his active enchantments (mage armour I think) and his magical items.
Electra identifies the creature as a water elemental. It is best to avoid fighting them in the water.

![]() |

Urias puts back on all of his equipent not havign found a solution.
Only have a cloak of resistance and Wand of Cure Light Wounds. No other magical items unless picked up.
Turning to Elektra, he asks.
"Found anything?"

![]() |

Urias has the stone and the blanches and oil of magic weapon as well as his wand and cloak.

Sense Motive: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (20) - 2 = 18 - LOL
"Silgil, watch out! It doesn't look like it is going to be friendly to you."
Monterey heads over with his greatsword drawn to protect Silgil should the elemental do something.

![]() |

Silgil backs away from the seam and prepares an action to move away if it attacks.

![]() |

As Silgil steps away a look crosses the creatures "face"
It almost looks like disapointmnet
She doesn't pursue the retreating dwarf though.

![]() |

What the blazes is going on? Zax seems to be quite confused by the entire thing. So this thing won't let us take the secret door, is that it?

![]() |

Sense Motive: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (3) - 2 = 1
Monterey still eyes the creature, ready to strike if it missteps.
"Anyone figured out how to open the door yet?"

![]() |

"It's decision time. We either use some resources to talk to it, just leave, or kill the thing so we can keep exploring. They're not my resources, so if someone wants to burn them do it, if you want to get this out of the way then smack it and I'll back you up."

![]() |

I say we destroy it.

![]() |

"So be it." Urias responds as well his grip on his own weapon tightens.

![]() |

If you want to attack then anyone who can beat a 15 with stealth or slight of hand may make a surprise attack on the water creature. Pick one and roll it. Then we will go into initiative. Or there are other doors off the main chamber that you have not yet explored

![]() |

Stealth: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (1) - 3 = -2
Good roll to blow so badly.
Silgil backs slowly and noisily as if headed for the exit, hand on his wand like a gunman glowering at the elemental, waiting for someone behind the elemental to make the first move.

![]() |

Seeing that the party wishes to destroy the mysterious creature, Zax tries to get the jump on it!

I went though a couple of days ago getting three ones in a row in attack dice in three different games. The RNG must be feeling unloved this weekend. Ohh, I know, I'll do our boon rolls, just in case we finish in time, which at the moment looks unlikely sorry.

Can you all make sure you are in the right spot on the map. Talan, I think a BH will hit Silgil where you and he are at the moment. Electra, your icon is not actually in the room, although with that to-hit roll, it might not make a difference...this round

Electra's ray goes wide, however Talan bathes the water creature in flames. reflex: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Generating lots of steam. But it has no special vulnerability to fire
Zax tries to hit it, but its form flows around his attack. Urias has a bit more luck, managing to disrupt its form a bit.
Water cascades out from the fountain, filling the room to a height of about one foot.
Treat the terrain as a shallow bog. Movement cost is doubled and acrobatics checks DC goes up by 2. Stealth suffers too, but that probably isn't an issue for you now.
