That Rees is a cool one – I’ll give him that ... BUT
If I let little setbacks get me down, I’d probably be a Priest of Aroden.
He’ll never have a more attentive student in his life ... in fact if my suspicion is right, he may never have another student AT ALL. *Butterflies and Rainbow Smiles*
Perception Take 10 +5 on Rees

Feeling some strange presence, Haraldir focuses on looking intently into the woods surrounding the group. He is trying to discern whether the creature, or creatures present are on this, or Astyannax's side of the river.
He turns to Omrax briefly: "It seems that there is something in the woods, watching us. Pass the rope between shores, so it is easier to cross the log, and please make sure that everyone is safe on the other side. I will cover you from this side and wait for everyone to go across. Do not let your guard. Go now, do not tarry!"
With that, he turns back and continues a detailed investigation of his surrounding.

Luisila tries to make out what Omrax is doing ... but can’t.
Intelligence: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (8) - 1 = 7"Ezrek, you are unarmored do you want to go first? Give me the word Omrax, and I’ll go but do you want help with the mule?"
Aid another ... strength maybe??
Luisila responds automatically obeying Haladir’s words. She will use both hands to help her to cross. Readies action to move across either at Omrax’s word or behind Emrek, depending on what the sorcerer wants to do.
"Haladir, I know the type of antlered beast the cat felled. I'll tell you when I see you on the other side."

Ezrek notices Haraldir and walks over to him. You feel it too, something is out there watching. I suggest we get across soon. The ones already across should provide cover for the others.

![]() |

"Yes, Master Ezrek, and this has me very concerned. We are a large group, big cat-like predators are almost never stalking big groups of dangerous creatures. Either there is many of them, or this creature is different...dangerous"
Knowledge/Nature to see if I can discern something more, if this is a natural, and not a magical/outsider creature
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

![]() |

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
Haraldir scans the area for several minutes. He doesn't see or hear anything, but that does not shake what he felt.
Omrax ties a rope around Ezrek before he crosses the log bridge. The assamiar looks to the left and right as if he is crossing a busy street, then makes his way across the wood.
Ezrek Acrobatics: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (8) - 1 = 7
Ezrek slips and falls into the water. He is rushed downstream and into the nearby rocks. He grabs onto the rope and uses that to aid himself onto shore.
Ezrek Swim: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (11) - 1 = 10
Ezrek is able to pull himself on the same shore he started with while avoiding the rocks within the river.
As Ezrek dries himself off, Luisila is lashed about the waist with rope and she begins to crawl across the bridge of wet dreams.
Luisila's Acrobatics: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
The priestess safely makes it across the river.
When you are ready to cross the river via the bridge, just roll an Acrobatics check. If you want to cross the river, give me a Strength check. If there is something that may aid or hamper the roll, I'll worry about it on my side.
To get the mule across, a trained Handle Animal check will be needed to push it across. Or you can just drag it with a Strength check. Then you need to decide if you are having it go over the bridge or through the water.
Currently, on the far side of the bridge is Nester Rees, Luisila, Astyannax & Achilles along with Badger & Eidolon. Everybody else is on the nearside.

Omrax will continue to help each of the others with the rope until all a re safely across the log. As to the mule , Omrax does not have skill in "pushing" the beast.
"Sir Astyannax, we may have better luck tethering the mule to your steed and pulling it across...unless you or anyone is more skilled at handling animals than I?"
strength : 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 2 = 9. Mule + horse with rope from far side?
Assuming no attack comes getting the mule over, Omrax will tie himself to a rope and make his way slowly over crossing the river. The log looks unsteady and armor would take too long to don if attacked...
strength: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18 Omrax with rope pulling self over river
Gm feel free to correct any false assumptions. Omrax would adjust if attack or other actions warrant.

Curses
“My goodness, Ezrek. Language please! Who knows, there may be ladies present.” ;)
“Third time’s the charm, man.”
She grins broadly at Astyannax. “It seems an age since we last spoke. Let’s catch up later and share our news.”
Where is that snake? Can I see him?
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19 on Reesssssss!
What would make him feel more reassured? Would it be silence or ...
“Rees, assume the position ... same as before.” *Now with heavy sarcasm* “By the way, we’re all fine. Thanks for all your help back there.”
Luisila knocks an arrow in her bow, which is held in her left hand. She readies an action to cast Bless if combat erupts.
I am assuming Omrax has made it successfully across to the other side of the river.
Her plan is to position herself to provide covering fire for Ezrek, while maximizing the number of her companions covered by her Bless, especially Omrax and Astyannax, but hopefully Haladir and the far end of the log bridge as well. If the armored fighters stay with ranged weapons, she will also try to stay close enough to provide “touch-buffs” to them, but won’t re-cross the river unless someone needs her healing desperately.
Don’t want much, do I?

Omrax tosses his rope across the river so that they can set up tether system on the far-side.
The mule is dragged across the river without any complications with Omrax following behind.
Ezrek slips and falls again but this time is able to swim to the far side the river.
Haraldir being the last one, ties the rope around his waist and crosses the log
Haraldir Acrobatics: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Haraldir is able to cross the bridge as well.
Once everybody has crossed the river, Rees looks toward the sky, "It looks like we should be setting up camp soon. Shall we settle here or further into the wood?

I gather that we're in a clearing, with the river behind us and woods ahead and off to the side. Is that correct?
"This looks like a good spot. The river is at our back and we could set up in the middle of the clearing, requiring an open approach."
Grins. "Who knows if that giant cat gets thirsty in the middle of the night?"
"Of course, there could be an abandoned camp or something just up the way. I can ride Achilles a ways and see if there's a better spot close by."
He looks around for responses.
Normally, I would suggest that the ranger scout ahead. But I figure the goal is to cover some distance quickly and report back in case there is a more hospitable spot. And it's MY horse...

"I have no problem with that, however Uthrad (decided to name my eidolon oo-thr-ad) may be a bit faster than your mount."

Astyannax looks down at the gnome, giving him a smile.
"I don't doubt that: especially in the woods. But I was also thinking that my sword arm might be of more use if trouble is in wait. But if you'd like to go in my stead, I will help here."
"You can go, or i can accompany you either way"

Excellent, the party has been separated . . .
Man and gnome wonder off into the forest . . .
Only to return 20 minutes later. The trail branches into different directions. They report that there are a few areas that have been used for camping. One was off the main trail while the other one was settled within a crossroads but had more usable ground.

![]() |

Omrax spends the 20mins drying out his armor and adjusting the gear on the mule.
He will also scan the immediate area within 60' around the camp to make sure nothing is lurking in wait, watching us. Note this would include checking our negotiator, Rees.
If nothing is detected, he will continue to wait, watching with the others until the two scouts return.
"Welcome back. As to your question as to stay or leave, Sir Boddyknock, you and Sir Astyannax saw the other camp areas and can probably make the best judgement on which looks best. Either way we best decide and get camp setup with watch schedules before the darkness comes.. "

![]() |

Luisila tries to think about the camp site options, but she knows she has no real experience.
“Would the crossroad option provide better ground for manoeuvring in a fight, with less concealment making it harder for any enemies to approach us and catch us unawares? It might make it easier for mounted or charging enemies though. But at night, they might prefer a stealthy approach.”
“Our camp site would be more obvious there than off the path, but if we have a fire, that probably doesn’t matter?”
“I’m not sure how much it really matters and am happy to go with either option.
To the ranger: "Haladir, is it worthwhile rigging some kind of perimeter alarm with twine or something?"
She looks askew at Rees when he makes his comments as if to convey ... So now you want to help? She shakes her head and moves away from him for a while in genuine disgust.
Later though she will professionally and as competently as her abilities allow speak with him politely and ensure he is comfortable and doesn’t need anything. She suggests to him in the same manner:
”Please don’t wander off without one of us – the cat or whatever it is, is still out there.”
In between casual banter with all her companions except Astyannax she will whisper under her breath, "I have a hunch Rees is shady, but have you noticed he has a cane, but no limp?"
She will find time to sharpen her dagger with her whetstone, make her obedience to her goddess and is flexible with respect to watch times. She plans to take her armor off for sleeping, but will don it for her watch before taking it off again if she has a “middle” watch. She keeps her weapons close, her bow with an arrow knocked.
If Rees begins to look uncomfortable, she will say to Astyannax: “Do you want to make sure no cats get Rees if he needs a comfort break? We’re in no rush so take your time.”

I just realized in my last post for Omrax that my 'scan' may not be obvious that he is using his paladin detect evil ability to scan the campsite perimeter and includes the party and Rees as he sweeps.

![]() |

Omrax calls out to his god and directs a hand into 5 different directions with one specifically focused on Rees.
You do not detect anything usual about Rees and you do not detect any evil anywhere.
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Rees grimaces at the paladin's use of his spell-like abilities and only comments, "I find that rude, Sir Ormax. I would have hoped the Pathfinders vouching for me would have been enough. If my presence is not wanted, you can deal with the gillmen on your own."
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
After his last remark, Rees gives a sideways stare at Luisila.

![]() |

She ignores Rees' glance - like it hasn't even happened but thinks ... Oh, don't tempt me Rees ...
Ezrek was talking books and study at the start ... AND I think he asked some history questions to the centaurs ... might be worth asking him a bit more about his knowledge.
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Does he know that I suspect, that he is what I suspect ....

I dont think he knows anyone suspects. He only got suspicious after he started acting odd just then :P

"Sir Rees, I beg your pardon and meant no disrespect, as I was including the inside of the camp as well as the perimeter to ensure there were not any invisible creatures sneaking within our midst."

![]() |

Ezrek walks over to Rees. Master Rees, please forgive these rude actions by my fellows. They are on edge and jumping at shadows. I am curious to hear about your field of specialty as I am a bit of scholar myself.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
He turns to Astyannax I trust the groups decision on camping spots. I am hoping for a big fire and a turn at watch. Other than that I agree with the majority.
He then turns back to continue speaking to Rees.

![]() |

As the group starts to make their way into the wood, Rees response cordially to Ezrek.
Rees response to the group, "It has been an active day. We are all probably getting antsy from walking all day without any food. I for one could sit by the fire with some grub in my belly.
Rees answers Ezrek's question. "I primarily deal with Azlanti & Osiriani historical artifacts. More with the Azlanit as so few historians on the manner. I am also interested in the contemporary works that arise from the fey and the Mwangi Expanse."
Click the link here for the campsite. I'm posting it for no reason whatsoever. Mark yourself where you wish to sleep and if there is going to be a watch order, let me know what it is.

Omrax will take first watch since we have volunteers on the other two already. I am assuming two people per watch (not counting Rees). Omrax will take Z6 and tethers the mule in Z2.
"Sir Rees, we are charged by the Society to protect you from harm for the success of the mission, and at my honor, I will do so. I apologize again for any offense I may have caused by my actions. "
diplomacy: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (11) + 11 = 22 to try to regain Rees' trust.
Then checking the camp area for anyone watching the camp during first watch (if needed)...
perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13
Omrax will remove his banded armor while he rests, but has sword and shield close at hand at all times.

"Apology excepted, Sir Omrax. Having a known killer out there on top of all the unknowns of the elements can make one extra cautious. I can only assume our days get harder the further north we travel."
Is it 3 watches with 2 people or 6 watches with 1 person up? I'm getting mixed singles. Also Badger, I don't understand "I'll take Col x 1"
