G'day all! Looking forward to the game day!
I had intended to play Mikhaere (a tengu druid) for this scenario, but that's dependent on him finishing a scenario he is in at the moment. We're in what I believe is the final encounter with most of the enemies down, but if it continues much further than this I'll have to switch up my character. Nevertheless... hello!

![]() |

Aw yeah Rackle. Tengu bros.
I've still yet to see another tengu around here. Not a very popular race. :)

![]() |

Greetings! Your paladin reporting for duty, sir! New character concept I'm trying out, so forgive any schizophrenic moments I may have =)
This oughta be fun - I know the GM and two other players from other games - looking forward to gaming with you, Mikhaere!

![]() |

Li Shuo, checking in. I'm hoping to level up to level 2, if we finish First steps in time (looks at Mikhaere).

![]() |

Haha, hi Li!
I certainly hope we'll finish. And that I don't kill Li with Ledford... ;)

![]() |

Havnt had much success in getting an answer to this question, so heres to trying again.
I cant decide on whether to go regular Travel domain or take the Exploration subdomain. This is mainly in regards to the level 1 Granted Powers.
Regular Travel lets me (and allies through Caravan Bond) ignore difficult ground for one round
Exploration lets me (and allies through Caravan Bond) look through 6 + cleric levels inches of material as clairvoyance.
I think the Exploration one can come in really handy, but the terrain ignore is REALLY important when its a factor, allowing 5 foot steps and charges where otherwise it wouldnt be possible.
So really the question becomes, how relevant, if at all, is difficult ground?
Oh, also, HI!

![]() |

Howdy!
Speaking on your dilemma, that's a tough one. I like both abilities. For dungeon crawls, the second one is amazing. Outdoors, the first one is amazing. In PFS you will be doing lots of both. Both are situational. My instinct is to go with the Exploration Domain, but this is just my opinion, and not a hint of any sort.

![]() |

In my experience you will almost always find difficult terrain in a given scenario, whether it's outdoors or in a dungeon or in an urban setting or on a ship or god-knows-what. On the other hand, it's only really in dungeon crawls that Exploration subdomain comes in useful, and even then... I'm not convinced you gain that much more information than simply listening at the door.
I ran a scenario where the inquisitor had Exploration, and he looked through every single door and only once did he actually see anything useful beyond... and, frankly, they probably could've guessed what was beyond with just listening!

![]() |

Hmm, good point Mikhaere, listening at a door really is about as effective in alot of instances. And quite frankly I like Longstrider better than Expeditious Retreat.
Gonna go change it right now and then I should be ready to roll!

![]() |

Hooray, Mik finished his game and didn't die :) Just need to throw another 400-odd gold onto him and I should be good to go.

![]() |

Damn, was looking at Mikhaere, and Frog domain is funky stuff! A Familiar for a divine character!
And sticky tendril look interesting. Stick it on a wall, pull yourself out of melee reach, then make for the hills -.-

![]() |

Frog domain is so awesome!!
So far I haven't had much of a chance to use my sticky tongue, but I can see it being useful in a lot of situations. Plus I can use it in wild shape form as well. :)
I didn't actually think of using sticky strike to grab a wall and pull myself towards it though. That is a cool idea.

![]() |

Speaking of sticky tongues, I've always wanted to make a Grippli Maneuver Master Monk with the Agile Tongue feat. Or a Touch attack-based Wizard or Sorceror. Just makes me giggle.

![]() |

It uses the pull universal monster ability, so you can't disarm with it. However, I think that you might be able to pull objects (or pull yourself towards a large object, i.e. a wall) - it seems to make sense!

![]() |

Hooray, Mik finished his game and didn't die :) Just need to throw another 400-odd gold onto him and I should be good to go.
Ironically, I was the GM of that game. And as of a short while ago, I can say "Hooray, Li finished his game and didn't die (though I came much closer) :) Just need to throw another 400-odd gold onto him and I should be good to go." Mikhaere was the GM in that game.

![]() |

In my game, Table "D" has two down, with one guy needing to make a DC 21 Fort save to stabilize and only one round to do it. Nessian critted him.

![]() |

Ouch! Man, you just didn't have a chance on our table. Mikhaere was dancin' round all those arrows and low-level Summoners and Barbarians are just too strong, lol.

![]() |

Did this for another game - thought you might like to have it!

![]() |

Christensen! That's my mum's family name.
All that stuff is pretty prominently on my profile though. :)

![]() |

Is this on the assumption that the check recruitment? Or did they have a way to contact you (or you them?)
I prefer small parties so im not too bothered, just wondering.

![]() |

I need to ask a quick question before I finalize my character and post to the gamethread. I normally build Daeris as an archer, but since she's just starting out level one and we do have level two characters in the mix, it will really help to know if we (as a party) expect to engage in more melee than attacking from range so I can build her focused on one or the other and still be able to pull my weight.

![]() |

@ Daeris : heh, thanks, took me forever to finalize. Probably spent a day in total, just fiddling with it until I got something I found pleasing to the eye, which also wasnt just a jumble to anyone not familiar with how I format it.
Sending you the whole thing, copied directly from Jorag. Be warned I have no idea how hard it will be to fill in for someone who wasnt part of the creation process.

![]() |

Ok, I finished her up... went with the melee build. Hopefully the archetype combo is PFS legal. I noticed we had no rogue, so I thought Disable Device might come in handy.
@Jorag, it looks like it took quite a while. Very eyepopping and easy to see what you're looking for, though. Nice job and thanks for sharing it! ^_~
By the way, I've been delayed but for a very cool reason. They are finally beginning a comic-con in Tyler, TX and I've been asked to GM PFS a table for the event! I'm so excited, it's going to be a blast! ^_^

![]() |

Hmmm, so seems I cant just send it via the paizo site, it turns into the actual sheet instead of the formula behind it when I put it in a PM.
Mind shooting me an E-mail of some kind I can ship it to?

![]() |

Jorag, as a heads up... I noticed you refer to 'Devout Pilgrim' in your character by-line.
This is one of the "de-Golarionised" versions of rules that d20pfsrd uses. It is not the actual name of it (as you seem to realise from your actual character sheet). You shouldn't refer to it in PFS like that, because the Society as a whole is pretty strict on proper reference of mechanics. (It also kind of implies that you are using material that you don't personally own!) d20pfsrd went to crap after they started selling things on their site and had to remove all references to Paizo's IP, to be honest.
If you want to look at rules for PFS, I strongly suggest using Archives of Nethys. They don't change the names or the content of rules, and everything PFS legal is marked clearly.

![]() |

Jorag, I'm betting this article is responsible for the earplugs you're seeing on character sheets. I found it on this big list of great guides.

![]() |

Those silly earplugs!
Btw, I've read through the PFS rules for the first time for this character (him being my first PFS character and all) and I just realized I don't know how loot works in PFS. I bring it up because I was rereading our story so far, and noticed the hunters at Falbins garden had silver weapons. Its got me wondering about loot.

![]() |

Essentially:
You start off with 150gp.
Anything you pick up during a module, you can use DURING that adventure if you like, but you don't get to keep any of them.
At the end of a module, all the loot you find is essentially liquefied into a pool of gold and split between the group. What this works out to is everyone receives a set amount of gold (usually ~500GP for Tier 1-2) and can spend it on anything they like, or save it up, or whatever.
You can always buy certain things that are listed in the Guide to PFS (+1 weapons/armor, low-level potions, etc.), and you can also purchase anything that is listed on the Chronicle (i.e., items that were found in the scenario). Higher priced items require a certain level of Fame (from your total accumulated Prestige).

![]() |

So does the fact that noone actually picked up those silver swords mean that they aren't counted for loot "liquification"? Or is it just a given that everything is brought along for the pile?

![]() |

It's sort of an assumption that everything gets grabbed, I guess.
Personally the way I look at it is less about "we grab all their crappy mundane gear and sell it" and more "the Pathfinder Society pays us a set amount for a job well done". The fact that it's based on the worth actually obtained in a mission is pretty irrelevant in that regard.
Of course, if you don't specify you grabbed something you can't use it either... same with magic items etc., you have to identify them yourself if you wanna use them.

![]() |

Theoretically it's stuff you find, but it mostly winds up being random stuff some random NPC was wearing and you didn't bother to loot them :P

![]() |

I'm planning to GM a society game via PBP soon, but I'm really clueless when it comes to the mapping. These maps are great, though! What do you use to make it interactive like that so everyone can move their own tokens? I've got to learn a decent online mapping method before I start a new game. >_<

![]() |

I use Google Docs. What I do is I create a jpeg of the map, and jpegs of all the tokens I want to use (usually I go to the character page of the game and do a print screen, paste it into MS Paint, and cut each individual portrait out and create files for each of them). I then create a Drawing on Google Docs and then insert the image, then insert all the tokens and then scale them to the map grid. I then make sure I set all the preferences to Anyone Can Edit so people can add their own tokens (like Mikhaere did when he summoned that Eagle) and move them around.
