Lucas Biedelmann |

Water splashing and men shouting turns the cramped tunnel into a confused deathtrap as the (hentai, ha!) tentacles flail and begin attacking from seemingly all directions. The men's quick movements cause the storm lanterns beams to shift erratically around the interior confusing the vision and location of the enemy even more.
Lucas tries to adjust and keep his wits.
WP 42 v. 1d100 ⇒ 39 = Success
Lucas manages to control any fear by letting the calm of Shallyah fill his mind and directs his attention on finding the enemy and give the men courage. "Stand ranks! Focus your lanterns to locate the enemy!" Lucas attempts to shout above the din.
Command (Fel 50) v. 1d100 ⇒ 77 = Supernatural
Uhh...so...was that good enough?

GM Drachenfels |

You find yourself surrounded by utter chaos, terror and doom, all neatly gift wrapped by the Chaos Gods in a watery tomb. Something horrific and primal has swam from the dank underbelly of the Wulfen river and made its home here, in the very tunnel you find yourself! Gods, what terrible fortune you've been having.
You feel a wave of fear wash over you. Above you, the enemy...before you, something worse. Behind is the only salvation, in the shattered streets of Wolfenburg. YOU MUST RUN!
And then, it happens.
You hear the words of your Captain and turn, instinctively drawing blade and bow, knife and axe. THERE! Lucas Biedelmann stands, a gleaming Paladin against a backdrop of unspeakable darkness; a wondrous white light has settled upon him and in turn it seems to spread to each of you. You feel a strong burning resolve fill your minds.
"For Wolfenburg!" Lucas shouts. "FOR THE WHITE LADY!"
As one you rally and attack, standing strong against the ancient evils of the Old World as men, as soldiers, as champions of The Empire!
UPDATE: Fear and Terror checks are no longer required. The spirit of Shallyah has brought courage and resolve! Everyone will also have a +10% to any Saving Throw for this encounter (good suggestion, Pinvendor).
LUCAS: You truly are a Champion and a leader. Because of your well timed 77, you have earned +1 Fortune Points!
ALBRECHT: You may ignore the result of your failed Will Power check. Your mind refocuses as you gain clarity and insight.

Lutke Geshburger |

As the noise and motion explode around him, Lutke finds the old familiar panic rising. He sees the spray of blood as Stannis is bitten in two and his remains messily consumed. Bile starts to rise up.
Then he hears the shout of Captain Lucas, and turning to look at him, Lutke sees a white light. Momentarily entranced, Lutke feels the nausea wash away and the fear leave him. He finds a trust in Captain Lucas building within him and for once, Lutke knows he can play his part. He pulls the giant wrench he carries from the strong loop sewn onto his breeches and begins to calculate how he can help without dying.
Aimes 12 feet and to the left on a 5.2 degree path from Lutke's position. Lifting shield to block incoming tentacle attack coming at downward arc to Aimes' upper right quadrant.
The man behind Aimes steadying his sword and beginning to charge in the right of Aimes at approximately 2 degrees of Aimes current position attempting to slash at the attacking tentacle.
Lutke sees his opening as the other two soldiers behind the man who was next to where Stannis had stood grabbed him and began a tug-of-war with a tentacle that encircled the poor soldier's torso. A strange feeling comes over him as he watches the tentacle move. He knows what to do. It's just like before. He could adjust the bog octopus if he just...
Lutke the Lackless: Attack (2 at WS 29 v. 2d100 ⇒ (86, 26) = 112) + Defense (3 at T 39 v. 3d100 ⇒ (5, 22, 31) = 58) = 4
Octopussy Tentacle w/ Hentai Attack: Attack (4 at WS 45 v. 4d100 ⇒ (54, 66, 70, 77) = 267 + Defense 5 at T 55 v. 5d100 ⇒ (75, 36, 84, 12, 41) = 248) = 3
Winner: Lutke!!!
That's unbelievable. I thought for sure Lutke was going to go down when I saw the Bog's numbers.
Hentaicle's saving throw: 40 v. 1d100 ⇒ 76 = Failed!
Lutke slips past the three struggling men. The hentaicle clutching the soldier weaves and another hentaicle comes out of nowhere, but Lutke steps in a small pothole under the water and the hentaicle misses him. Focused, Lutke reaches the point in the water he believes to be the hentaicle's point of connection to the bog octopus. He sets to work, and with a few skilled turns of his wrench the screws fall out, plop-plop, into the murky water and the hentaicle suddenly detaches and with a splash the three struggling soldiers fall backward into the murky river water as the tension releases.
For a moment Lutke grins from ear to ear. Then he blinks as what he did crashes home. Lutke's face feels bloodless and a wave of dizziness hits him. How do these things keep happening??!! Lutke prays to Ranald that no one saw him.

Lucas Biedelmann |

Lucas felt at peace. A sense of calm came over him that was from the outside, not his training but something filling him. He knew that Shallyah was watching him, and she had passed this blessing onto his comrades. A confidence filled him and he began to believe in his heart they could succeed in this mission. Lucas just needed to believe and trust in Lady Shallyah. He set his jaw and readied himself for an assault on this monster that wanted to try and stop the beleaguered Imperial Army's one chance to destroy the accursed Hellcannon. This could not be allowed.
"For Wolfenburg!" Lucas shouts, "FOR THE WHITE LADY!"
Lucas rushes forward following on a path that Lutke of people seems to have found through the thrashing water and bog octopus tentacles. Lucas suddenly sees a tentacle rushing towards Lutke's head, but the tall man somehow drops a foot lower and the tentacle swings past the lockmaker who moves forward through the shin-high water with determination. Lucas loses sight of the man as he raise his mace and engages the tentacle meant for Lutke.
Captain Lucas with blessing of Shallyah: Attack (6 at WS 45 v. 6d100 ⇒ (49, 5, 93, 64, 30, 67) = 308) + Defense (7 at T 43 v. 7d100 ⇒ (88, 80, 49, 36, 16, 14, 42) = 325) = 6
Octopussy Tentacle: Attack (4 at WS 45 v. 4d100 ⇒ (52, 67, 72, 94) = 285) + Defense 5 at T 55 v. 5d100 ⇒ (46, 7, 42, 88, 23) = 206) = 4
Winner: Lucas
Lol, this time I am not surprised. What do you expect from someone rolling 13 dice? And that's only because of the Dodge Blow handicap!
Octopussy Tentacle Saving Throw: 40-10(Strike to Injure)=30 v. 1d100 ⇒ 81 = Failed
The tentacle missed Lutke and came swinging in a rush of sound, Lucas knocked it away with a powerful downward swing with his mace. Sensing a new threat, the tentacle quickly snapped upward wrapping itself up the bottom of the shield, around, and then back under to begin thickly envelop Lucas' arm. Realizing his blunt mace would not be as effective against the soft spongy tissue, Lucas quickly adapted. Dropping to one knee, Lucas lowered his tentacle encased shield arm until he felt resistance. Having successfully pinned the tentacle to the ground with his shield, Lucas hammered down on the top of his shield once, twice...the shield suddenly had no resistance and the pressure of the tentacle went slack; the tentacle's stump erupting an inky blood having been severed neatly by the edge of the shield.
Lucas saw Lutke stand up grinning and realized that somehow the skinny trapsmith had severed another tentacle. Only plenty more to go, Lucas thought and began to softly chant a Shallyan ward against disease.
That last bit is just for flavor. Kind of like a battle hymn, but for Lucas, this is what unconsciously comes to mind.

GM Drachenfels |

Well, I have to say this fight is going well! I can see the scene in my mind as clearly as if I were reading an epic Warhammer novel. And it also looks like everyone is getting a good grasp of the new combat rules.
LUTKE: A number of things had me laughing: 'Octopussy Tentacle w/ Hentai Attack' and 'Hentaicle's saving throw' were especially funny! The comedy along with with really creative description on how things appear to Lutke in combat, "He sets to work, and with a few skilled turns of his wrench the screws fall out, plop-plop, into the murky water and the hentaicle suddenly detaches", I award you +20 xp! That being said, LUTKE IS NOW FROZEN after a successful attack against the Hentai Octopi!
LUCAS: You'd think rolling your massive combat pool would upset me, but it seems to work in this case. It's for both your attack and defense. The creature has a 9 dice combat pool so it's pretty balanced I think. Anyhow, it's fun to see Lucas thrive as a leader in this situation. +10 xp for the excellent descriptions and leadership! LUCAS IS NOW FROZEN, the Eye of the Raven now turning to the other brave warriors in the party.
The Bog Octopus, now aptly named 'Hentaicle' (haha! thanks Lutke), is down two of its massive limbs. But the beast is far from defeated. Awaiting responses from Krak, Boom, Lackey and Albrecht. I will roll for the Wolfenburg Warriors and Njord after.

GM Drachenfels |

A primordial screech of pain and anger erupts from the thing in front of you, two of its grasping tentacles flailing about wildly and uncontrolled, spurting gallons of inky stuff around the wet confines of the under-bridge!
"Take that! You want some more?! You like that?!" Aimes is yelling, battling a battery of incoming limbs with his Imperial short sword.
You can see Krak and Boom fumbling about in the water comically, trying to steady the floating dingy as it bobs, bounces and weaves in the unstable currents. Njord is sloshing ahead in the mire, slashing barbarically at any limbs that rise around him. The massive giant, Lackey, is fighting as well, pinning a tentacle down with his boot, raising his mighty hammer to smash it to bits.
Splashes of water, flashes of lantern light and the howls of your armored comrades create a symphony of destruction, the deadly fight continues to rage in the inky darkness beneath the Wolfenburg Bridge...

Gretta the Initiate of Shallyah |

ELSEWHERE...
"Of course, Sister, I'll be sure to prepare the supplies for the new arrivals. Those poor souls th--" Gretta is struck suddenly across the face as if slapped, flailing backwards and striking the hard stone wall of the hospice! Behind her, a group of astonished Sisters of Shallyah looks on with shock.
Gretta gasps and turns, looking for her assailant. Cold waters rise around her ankles! The room is filled with the musky smell of leather, sweat and fear. Around her, Gretta can hear the shrieks of terrified men, and the snapping commands of officers.
"Ah, SCHEISSE!" someone screams; Gretta's jaw drops. Such profane words inside a Temple of Shallyah?! Did the other Sisters hear that?!
Suddenly, Gretta no longer finds herself in the safety of the Hospice. No! She's elsewhere now, surrounded by utter chaos, terror and doom, all neatly gift wrapped by the Chaos Gods in a watery tomb.
Through a veil of confusion and fear, Gretta can see Lucas, the brave and handsome Captain fighting for his life in a lake of murky death. The presence of the Lady is strong with him, Gretta can feel this. Though she had not been with the temple longer than a fortnight, she always had the sight and the aura around Lucas was now nearly blinding!
Falling to her knees with a splash, Gretta begins to pray to Shallyah as well, her fervent words a mirror of Lucas' own.
"For Wolfenburg!" Lucas AND Gretta shout in unison, "FOR THE WHITE LADY!"
The Sisters look on in awe and wonder at the young initiate before them.

Private Aimes |

AND BACK TO THE ACTION BENEATH THE WOLFENBURG BRIDGE...
"I got something for ya!" Aimes shouts, hacking wildly at each new tentacled terror that rises from the waters, "Oooo, how'd that feel?! Here, taste steel!"
The man is a blur of movement, but while Captain Biedelmann is a beacon of tactics and precision, Aimes is the flailing avatar of sheer pandemonium. One of Hentaicle's rubbery arms goes flying off into the darkness, guttering black stuff EVERYWHERE! Aimes let's out a cry of victory!
(This attack is for sake of description only and does not tally against the Octopus in terms of overall victory).
"I got one!" he bellows. "You see that Captain?! I got one!"
A moment later, Aimes is blasted backwards by a renewed attack from the bulbous creature, smashing the young soldier into the wood bracing along the ceiling; he crashes down into the water, winded but not dead.
"Gottsverdammt!" Aimes shouts, "I've lost my bloody sword. Quick, hey! Someone toss me a weapon!"
Consequently, I think Aimes might be my next favorite NPC next to Gretta, hah. His Avatar alone cracks me up!

BOOOM |

"AKKKKKK, I KNEW IT!!!!!!!!!!!"
BLAM The pistol echoes loudly in the enclosed tunnel
5d100 ⇒ (64, 6, 35, 13, 82) = 200 3 successes
Octupus defense: 5d100 ⇒ (60, 45, 23, 85, 8) = 221 3 successes
The bullet from Boom's pistol impacts soldily and buries itself in the creature's hide, but the flailing monstrosity seems to not even notice!

KRAK |

That freezes Krak in his tracks
"RIGHT!!"
Furrowing his brow, Krak turns back to the scene of mayhem and spits a wad of chewed "Dwavern snuff" into the water. Tightening his grip on his pick....
"YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA..."
Krak wades into combat
6d100 ⇒ (53, 40, 63, 20, 16, 59) = 251 (+1 4 2 hnded) 4 successes
Octopussy defense5d100 ⇒ (17, 83, 74, 19, 63) = 256 2 successes
Octo attack: 4d100 ⇒ (90, 94, 35, 21) = 240 2 successes
Krak defense:6d100 ⇒ (15, 5, 5, 91, 10, 32) = 158 (+1 lethr) 5 successes
Krak wades into battle like a dwarven Ironclad! Ducking and weaving between tentacles his skill is not without reprocussions as tentacles that were meant for him slam red-shirted soldiers to and fro like weightless sacks to crash and splash amoung the tunnel.
"GARAK ME THOK DERRAGK!!!!!" KRak yells as he brings down his mining pick into the creature's eye just as it turns to face him.
After thought: Save for Octo:4d100 ⇒ (55, 27, 86, 54) = 222 1 success (27, but he had a -25 because of my successes (+5 success, yes?) Dunno, either way its a kewl scene..;)

Lackey Gunterman "Grog" |

Lackey pushes past the dingy grabbing 2 harpoons from the dingy, Trying to protecet his orafices from Hentipussy. "Red 32 red 32 hut hut. He hurls them at the beak of the beast centermass, 2d100 ⇒ (78, 48) = 126 Bs 28- no successes.
Hentipuss looks and gives the Standard OOOrrrrggggle battle cry.
Lackey draws this longsword and prepare for next set of actions.

GM Drachenfels |

KRAK/BOOM: Funny scene. I love the banter between the two of them. Good stuff! +10 xp!
As for as the combat rolls, you handled them properly. The only thing you got mixed up on was the Saving Throw. That's just a single roll. The amount of successes you have over the enemy total is -5% per success against their Saving Throw. Since you had 5 successes and it's Saving Throw is just 40%, that pretty much means an instant success. Consequently, KRAK/BOOM ARE NOW FROZEN!
LACKEY: I was hoping you'd remember the sound Bog Octopus make, haha! I still remember our tabletop game where you made the Ooorgggle sound when the party was facing one. Hilarious! +10 xp! That being said, LACKEY IS ALSO FROZEN!
I don't imagine we'll be seeing any updates from Albrecht until Monday, so he may miss the entire first round of combat. We'll see. I'm going to make updates for Njord and the Wolfenburg Warriors tonight.

Njord Freyr |

The maelstrom of combat explodes around Njord as he charges forward, trying to come to terms with the strange weight of the Imperial sword in his hand. Dodging and weaving, Njord leaps aside just as Aimes comes crashing past him with a mighty 'Oooooph!, splashing down hard. Two more steps is all it takes for Njord to stride into melee range with the horrific monstrosity!
Njord's Attacks: 5d100 ⇒ (91, 31, 95, 50, 44) = 311 vs 50: 3
Njord's Defense: 4d100 ⇒ (62, 11, 71, 7) = 151 vs 40: 2
Hentaicle's Attack: 4d100 ⇒ (4, 73, 58, 4) = 139 vs 45: 2
Hentaicle's Defense: 5d100 ⇒ (23, 90, 82, 44, 59) = 298 vs 55: 2
Njord has scored 5 successes to Hentaicle's 4. Njord wins!
Hentaicle's Saving Throw: 1d100 ⇒ 28 vs 40: PASS! Therefore, Njord fails to destroy the tentacle during his round.
HOW IT ALL UNFOLDS:
The massive tentacle that had swept Aimes through the room doubles back as Njord counters the strike, slashing hard and deep. It is a telling blow as slick oil sprays everywhere, but the limb remains intact. Njord's spits in anger.
"Bah, curse on Imperial steel," he shouts. "Good only for cutting grass!"
With a look of disgust he tosses the blade to Aimes, drawing his massive two handed sword in retribution:
1d100 ⇒ 22 vs 31 (AG): PASS!
Despite the cramped quarters and the difficult surroundings, Njord is able to draw his famed weapon, Sverð Sigr! The Norseman lowers his gaze towards the Octopussy and smirks with his trademark feral smile...
NJORD IS NOW FROZEN!

Private Aimes |

"I've lost my bloody sword. Quick, hey! Someone toss me a weapon!" Aimes had shouted.
A moment later, Njord tosses the young warrior his blade. It arcs through the air like a wet lance, wobbling unevenly. Regaining his feet, Aimes reaches for the weapon in the darkness:
1d100 ⇒ 44 vs 35 (AG): FAIL!
With a shout of alarm, Aimes grabs the sword mid-flight, but fumbles the attempt. The sword spins into the water with a dismal splash.
"Scheisse!" he howls in shock. "I had that!"

GM Drachenfels |

Collectively the Warriors of Wolfenburg charge, some splashing through the waters, other are being smashed into the rafters. A sea of red shirts bring weapons to bare against the undulating mass of oceanic horror that lurks in the tunnel before them!
Aimes aside, I'm going to roll for the Wolfenburg Warriors as a single unit. Pass or fail, it will tell me how well they do as a force in this situation:
Warrior's Attack: 4d100 ⇒ (39, 94, 19, 90) = 242 vs 35: 1
Warrior's Defense: 4d100 ⇒ (33, 12, 74, 34) = 153 vs 40: 3
Hentaicle's Attack: 4d100 ⇒ (3, 11, 31, 86) = 131 vs 45: 3
Hentaicle's Defense: 5d100 ⇒ (84, 36, 53, 98, 31) = 302 55: 2
Hentaicle has scored 5 successes to the Warrior's 4. As far as the Saving Throw goes for the Warriors, I'm not going to worry about it. The dice rolls above simply tell me that the Warriors are being eaten, chomped, crushed and battered.
HOW IT ALL UNFOLDS:
"Gaius, shore up the defense!" a soldier shouts.
"Gaius is dead..." a shrieking voice responds.
Someones head goes skipping down the watery tunnel, squirting crimson blood everywhere.
"Gods preserve us!" another soldier howls, this one battling two huge tentacles that are wrapping around him from both sides. A moment later he is hoisted up. The man screams horribly and then pops like a wet sack as the beast pulls him apart. Entrails splash into the water with a sicking SPLOOSH!
"Fight men, fight!" another voice rings out. "Fight for our Captain. Fight for the Emp--"
That man dies a sudden death as well, the massive beaked thing biting his face clean off.
Oh the horror.
THE WARRIORS OF WOLFENBURG ARE NOW FROZEN!

GM Drachenfels |

We just need to resolve Albrecht's attacks at this point. I'll try to prod the Magister to make an update before the weekend is out. At that point the Octopussy has something special (see: horrific) planned on its dedicated counter-attack round. After that, all actions will be unfrozen.

Albrecht Baer |

Albrecht is not filled with fear. This is a beast, Men kill beats all the time, such is the world. This is no daemon of any old god...Or...Is it? It is rather large, I mean, could it be the underwaterprotectorofsomesortofhellgateandanentombedwatergodbeneathWolfenbu rgwhosepowersalonecouldriptheworldinhalfiftheydistrubitmaybetheyreallyshoul dleaveitaloneandrunIhaveabad--
"Stand ranks! Focus your lanterns to locate the enemy!
The lantern's fire glows the length of Albrecht arm, permeating his heart and mind. Focus. He has focus now.
Whipping the sword from its sheath at his hip, Albrecht strikes the blade down onto the nearest part of the monsters writhing mass!
Atk4d100 ⇒ (65, 87, 52, 16) = 220 vs 40 1 Success
Def3d100 ⇒ (1, 53, 68) = 122 vs 30 1 Success
Octaipus:
4d100 ⇒ (68, 66, 44, 93) = 271 0 Successes!
5d100 ⇒ (16, 99, 22, 72, 36) = 245 3 Successes!
I believe that there is a stalemate, I didn't do enough to cover his defenses, he didn't do ANY attacks to beat mine.

Are we rolling? Ok, Greetings Wolfenburg This is Sven Ungelgyessmer Reporting from the Wolfenburg bridge tunnel. I appers that all hell has broken loose just as the men entered the tunnel of doom they seemed to encountered some unspeakable horror. I'm getting info now, It appears to be a giant bog Octopuss in the tunnel the men appear to have it well in hand. With us today is bog Octupi expert "Willa Famke". Willa tell us something about the dreaded Beast in the tunnel. Well Sven that shouldn't be a problem as most bog octupi are harmless cuddley shy creatures not really capable of any real harm. Well you all heard it here thanks Willa. We will keep you on a up to the minute report of the tunnel action. Back to you Gerald Riverao and the opening of Drachenfels tomb.

GM Drachenfels |

ALBRECHT: You bring up an interesting point if attack spam has no successes. We'll carry on that topic in the discussion thread. For now though, it's invalid. The Octopussy-o-doom has a WS of 45, and according to your combat string: 4d100 ⇒ (68, 66, 44, 93) it has one success!
Your base Saving Throw is 42% minus 10% as it has two successes over you, for a grand total of 32%. BUT, as I mentioned earlier: Everyone will also have a +10% to any Saving Throw for this encounter. Your base Saving Throw is now 42%. Please make your Saving Throw as soon as you can and I'll handle the result of that when I return from 'The Den'.
Regardless of all that, ALBRECHT IS FROZEN!
SVEN UNGELGYESSMER: Haha, a blast from the past. I love the Avatar you picked for him. It's very Twilight Zone. I know Dagon will remember our in field reporter, though I'm not sure I ever used him in the company of anyone else here. Regardless, I laughed! +20 xp for that. Let's not overuse him, but I think it would be fun if he provided updates from time to time. Oh and this, 'Back to you Gerald Riverao and the opening of Drachenfels tomb' = comedy gold!

GM Drachenfels |

The first round of combat is over, and while Henticle lost several of its tentacles, several more remain. As a group you managed to destroy three of the creatures limbs. Once it loses five it'll be forced to make a Will Power check or squirm out of the tunnel and fall back into the river in an act of self preservation.
But before we move into the next phase of combat, it's time for the fearsome Bog Octopus to retaliate with it's special attack:
The battle rages, Imperial steel and courage against the ancient horror of something that had long slept at the bottom of the vast Wulfen river. Swords are drawn, blood is spilled, and the cries of man and thing fill the under-tunnel.
"Don't give up hope, men!" Captain Biedlemann shouts, "Push the advantage!"
"Kill the beast!" the Wolfenburg Warriors shout, slashing and hacking against the primordial terror before them. "For the Empire!"
And then, just like that, Henticle seems to retract for a moment like a deflating balloon, drawing in it's flailing limbs in preparation for--
SPPOOOOOOOOOOOOPPPPPPPPHHHHH!
A sputtering spray of burning black oil spouts from the venomous beak of the thrashing horror, sizzling and popping as it comes in contact with the timbers of the bridge and exposed skin of armored soldiers.
"Aaaarg, Gods! It burns!" An older soldier naked Viktor howls in pain, his features a goo covered mask of horror. The poor man is clawing at his face. "My eyes! My eyes!"
COMBAT ACTION: EVERYONE must now make a check against your Agility (not Dodge Blow). Feel free to assign yourselves any plus or minus to the roll that you feel is appropriate based on your situation in the fight.
DID YOU PASS? No effect as you manage to avoid the spary. Detail the action you take and how you were able to dodge the acidic blast.
OR DID YOU FAIL? The stinking black musk burns and blinds you. Yelping in pain and anguish, you will lose -1 to your attack pool and -1 to your defense pool for the duration of the fight.
Regardless of the result, once you make your Agility check, you'll be UNFROZEN and able to take another round of action against Henticle.

Private Aimes |

Since I have not yet rolled up Aimes stats, I'll just use a base 35% for any tests he takes. Later, if he remains in play as a character, I'll roll him up properly. That being said:
Aimes is fumbling for a sword in the murky waters when the Bog Octopus erupts a spew of burning black acid into the air. Wooden timbers pop and burn as men scream and fall backwards into the mire!
"Son of a motherless--" Aimes shouts!
It's time for him to make his Agility check to see if he's effected by the creatures spooogy attack:
1d100 ⇒ 76 vs 35 (Ag): FAIL! (And yet so close)...
"AIEEEEEEEE!" Aimes bellows, the left side of his face burning as he falls face first into the brewing waters in the under-tunnel.
Aimes will now have a -1 to his Attack and Defense pool for the duration of the fight ONCE he's able to find his sword. We'll determine that now:
The cold river water seems to do little to sooth the burning. Aimes is then suddenly pushed deeper into the floorboards as someone else (Viktor), falls on top of him. Grasping and clawing, Aimes is now simply trying to regain his footing.
Let's test against his fortune:1d100 ⇒ 26 vs 30: PASS!
Trampled in the maelstrom of booted feet, Aimes luckily manages to get a grip on the hilt of his lost blade. Pushing upwards and out of the water, he begins to swing the weapon about him in a blind panic!
"You like that? Huh? How's that feel?!" he shouts. "Eat steel you overgrown calamari!"
Aimes is clearly not in control of himself at the moment. I'll make another roll against his Weapon Skill to determine what happens. If he passes, he managed to come into range with Hencticle. If he fails, not so much. A double or fumble means he plows his blade into a friendly target:
1d100 ⇒ 44 vs 35 (WS): FUMBLE!
There is a sickening TWHIIIICK! sound as Aimes swings wildly like a windmill in a hurricane.
"I got it! Captain! Did you see, I--"
The body of Viktor falls into the water, his head splashing down a moment later.
"Oh Gods..." Aimes weeps, staring in abstract shock at the bobbing head between his feet.
Alas, poor, poor Viktor.

Boom pulls a Hammer from the dingy. But at the business end of the hammer is a satchel bound to it by cord.
Boom wades into the battle still wiping his eyes.
Engineer check for his invention: 1d100 ⇒ 32 vs 35 int success!
Boom attack: 3d100 ⇒ (55, 6, 1) = 62 -1 for the goo 2 successes
Boom defense: 4d100 ⇒ (10, 4, 82, 13) = 109 +1 lther 1 for the goo 3 successes
Octo attack: 4d100 ⇒ (31, 36, 17, 56) = 140 3 successes
Octo defense: 5d100 ⇒ (78, 72, 63, 28, 28) = 269 2 succcesses
Boom suddenly gets more than he bargained for as he is suddenly dodging tentacles and all manner of men in chaos as bodies bump into him or try to get in front of him in their desperation to get at the creature.
"GET OUT OF MY VAY!!!" "I HAVE ZUMTINK ZAT VILL VORK!!"
His shouts go unheeded.

DAGON: Glad you like Aimes! I was hoping you would. He kind of reminds me of some of our old school NPC's from our past games. I'm modelling him a bit after a famous character from the movie Aliens. You'll get the theme of it here in my next post, haha!
As far as any rules you might need clarification on. On the top of the thread there is a TAB that says CAMPAIGN INFO. In it is the full list of rules, including how to handle Saving Throws. But I'll go ahead and remind you here. SAVING THROW: Toughness % + Wound total = Save. Looking up stats on Boom I see a Toughness of 4 so I assume that's 40%. Added to his wound total of 13 he has a 53% base save. You can write those stats down on your character sheet for easy reference if you want. Check Njord for an example:
Njord: WS 50 | BS 28 | S 41 | T 40 | AG 31 | INT 33 | WP 32 | FEL 31 | A 1 | W 12 | SB 4 | TB 4 | M 4 | Save: 52%
Then it's just -5% to your SAVE for every success the enemy has above you. Easy stuff. But anyhow it looks like you handled everything properly. Just for future reference so there is no confusion.
LOVE the updates. I can totally see Krak and Boom thrashing about in the water, wet beards and burning embers for eyes! +15 xp for both of them for the fun combat update!
Consequently, KRAK AND BOOM ARE ONCE AGAIN FROZEN!

Lackey Gunterman "Grog" |

Stepping around the dingy hammer in hand Lackey, 1d100 ⇒ 1vs Ag 23 Epic Success. Lackey grabs Aimes and uses him as a body shield vs the spittle. Then tosses aside his shield and steps to the beast.
Take dis ugly bottomfeeder, my hamma vill crush joo.
Lackey attack: 3d100 ⇒ (12, 51, 17) = 80 vs 35 WS 2 successes
Lackey Defense: 6d100 ⇒ (55, 44, 12, 59, 77, 97) = 344 vs 53 T 3 success and aq 77 and 97 ??
Hentipuss Att: 4d100 ⇒ (70, 73, 42, 60) = 245 vs 45 1 success
Hentipuss Def: 5d100 ⇒ (29, 85, 24, 2, 94) = 234 vs 55 3 success
Hentipuss Save: 1d100 ⇒ 25 vs 40 saved damn.
How it all unfolds??? Drachenfells let it roll. alot of 1's and 77's

GM Drachenfels |

LACKEY:
Your 01 DEFINITELY COUNTS for your Agility check! However, anything in the spam combat rolls don't matter in terms of epic successes or fumbles. Only single dice rolls matter. Therefore you have only 2 total successes in your defense pool, not 3. That being said, here we go:
Instinctively, you know what is about to happen next. Quickly sizing up your options, you do the one thing that has served you best on the Snotball field time and time again:
You use someone else as a living shield.
Aimes does his job well, howling in agony as the black spittle splashes against him. A moment later he tumbles forward into the cold river water, other men tripping over him in a panic. As you pass the fallen soldiers in your wake, you leap over floating bodies and debris and close on the insidious squid in the tunnel.
Any future Agility checks in this fight will be made at +20%. You have a very sure footing in this situation. Why? You're a Snotball player. You've seen worse than this on any given Konistag!
"Take dis ugly bottomfeeder, my hamma vill crush joo!" you shout, raising your calamari-pulverizing hammer into the air, striking with bone shattering force!
Time seems to slow as the weapon crashes down, but the resilience of the undulating beast shocks even you. Drawing back your hammer, you deftly leap aside once, twice, thrice; a flailing tentacle working the tunnel to snap you in two.
Epic scene and well fought! LACKEY IS NOW FROZEN!

Njord Freyr |

As Lackey Gunterman surges forward, Aimes isn't the only person he puts in danger. Njord, prepping for his next strike, is chip-blocked by the Kislevian giant, knocking him forward and off balance. Forced to engage prematurely, Njord uses his two handed sword as a lance:
Njord's Attacks: 6d100 ⇒ (44, 19, 25, 69, 88, 74) = 319 vs 50: 3
Njord's Defense: 4d100 ⇒ (24, 43, 59, 69) = 195 vs 40: 1
Hentaicle's Attack: 4d100 ⇒ (4, 36, 3, 19) = 62 vs 45: 3
Hentaicle's Defense: 5d100 ⇒ (88, 79, 67, 55, 33) = 322 vs 55: 2
Hentaicle has 5 successes to Njord's 4. The Octopussy wins!
Njord's Saving Throw: 1d100 ⇒ 63 vs 47: FAIL! Ouch! But this seems a proper time to use a Fortune Point, leaving Njord with one point to spare. The use of the Fortune Point will allow me to re-roll Njrod's Saving Throw.
Njord's Saving Throw (RE-ROLL): 1d100 ⇒ 95 vs 47: FAIL! Ooooph, dark times.
Njord thinks to throw Lackey an insult but there is little time. The Norseman is knocked 10 feet into the back of the tunnel by a mighty slap from a frenzied tentacle!
Agility check to see if Njord can maintain his hold on his weapon:
1d100 ⇒ 33 vs 31: FAIL! Disaster all around for Njord!
HOW IT ALL UNFOLDS:
The panther like barbarian is catapulted through the air, crashing hard into the timbers of the roof above before landing with a brutal blood filled splash into the cold waters.
There is a heaving shock that explodes along the supports as all eyes go wide in horror. A moment later the back passage collapses, Njord underneath! The Norseman vanishes in a falling wave of stone and wood.
Njord has failed too many rolls, his saving throw included (twice). He'll be spending a Fate Point to stay alive.
Njord is dead?! And now there is no retreat!
Well, that certainly makes things simple you think. Fight or die! There are no longer any other options.
NJORD IS FROZEN AND OUT OF THE FIGHT!

GM Drachenfels |

So there we go, our first Fortune Point used though sadly it did not work out well for Njord. I recommend everyone make a section on their character sheets to record the amount of Fortune Points you currently have. I'll use Njord as an example:
Njord
Fate Points: 1
Fortune Points: 1

Albrecht Baer |

1d100 ⇒ 56 vs Agi 35
Spending all his time amongst books Albrecht has never truly had a reason to be fast. Everything in its own time and all that. Unfortunately for him, the time for action is now, and the Bog Octupi is not taking it slowly. He recoils at the stink as the blast covers him nose to toe. He wonders briefly if this substance is flammable as he hacks wildly.
3d100 ⇒ (94, 32, 26) = 152 vs 40 2 Successes!
2d100 ⇒ (45, 99) = 144 vs 30 Defense...who needs it!
Octupi!
4d100 ⇒ (85, 49, 52, 28) = 214 vs 45
5d100 ⇒ (73, 29, 10, 9, 87) = 208 vs 55
The Octupi succeeds again in combat against the Blazing Mage who refuses to "Flame On!"
Save 1d100 ⇒ 3 vs 42
He refuses to drop!

GM Drachenfels |

"GET OUT OF MY VAY!!!" "I HAVE ZUMTINK ZAT VILL VORK!!" Boom shouts, flailing his muscled arms about wildly.
And then, as if orchestrated for him, a path opens between Boom and the dread thing that occupies the tunnel. A clear shot right into the beaked head of the monster!
Spitting again into the frigid waters, Boom reaches into the dingy and...
At this point, in an effort to bring this fight scene to a resolution, I'm effectively giving Boom a free attack. BOOM IS UNFROZEN! Do something epic!

KRAK |

Krak pulls from the dingy a large tube of iron and brass. With a grunt he hefts the heavy device onto his shoulder.
He has one hand on a handle with a trigger and with the other he opens a reticle that he puts up to his eye.
"FIRE IN DA HOLE!!!!"
SWWOOOSSHH!!!!!
Fire and smoke erupts from both ends of the tube. From the front a rocket screeches towards its target trailing smoke.
There is a sickening sound as the rocket buries itself into the creatures torso.
SPLOOSH
then exits opposite its entrance
BOOOOMMM!!!!
Blood, fire and flesh EXPLODE from the rear of Octopussy
