Amelia Lightfoot |
Nethan looks to Amelia, "Do you want me to go with you even though you are much more stealthier than I. At least, I will not be a mobile chime?"
Amelia returns Nethan's gaze with a smile. "You're not bad. Remember the time we snuck past the elves guarding the ancient burial grounds? But this time, the stakes are a bit higher. I'd prefer to go alone. If some of you can make your way up those bluffs to cover me, I think I'll be just fine. Then we just need some sound to bait the zombies in, and kaboom!" Amelia is getting pretty excited about the scheme.
@Radiance - is it possible to climb what look like hills or plateaus on the map?

Nethan Ryon Akerman |

Amelia returns Nethan's gaze with a smile. "You're not bad. Remember the time we snuck past the elves guarding the ancient burial grounds? But this time, the stakes are a bit higher. I'd prefer to go alone. If some of you can make your way up those bluffs to cover me, I think I'll be just fine. Then we just need some sound to bait the zombies in, and kaboom!" Amelia is getting pretty excited about the scheme.
Nethan snickers at Amelia's reminder of the burial grounds, "Oh yes, I remember. Definitely good times! If anything goes wrong, you come back to us right away?!"

Alþórel |

"Do we have a way to create sound? At around a hundred feet or so I could manage to conjure some wytchlight - or fire, as you prefer - but I have not often needed to create sound, and its nature is such that it is difficult to conjure at such distances."

Elise of the Red Hill |

"I have some bottles with me - but I'm not sure they would create a loud enough bang by simply breaking ... " She takes of her skull cap helmet and looks into its eyes "Maybe this would rattle enough if we were to rig it so that it would fall. Maybe as a plan B? I would prefer something really loud."

Alþórel |

"Of course, child. But either I would need to accompany you, or you would be need to cast it. I could give you a scroll, I suppose, if you have used such before?"
Great idea! Do you have UMD?

Alþórel |

"Alternatively, I - or someone who does have such training - could accompany you. While I am not the Thief you are, I have some experience in hunting from a long, long time ago."
"Or we could not rely on magic, and instead on your innovation and talent."

Nethan Ryon Akerman |

Nethan shakes his head at Alþórel, "Al, Amelia is not a thief, a burglar, or a rogue. She is a scout who has experience in disarming traps, sneaking about, and gathering information. I believe you owe her an apology for labeling her such." Nethan looks at Tsadok, "You do plan on taking off your armor or do you have something that will silence your armor?" Nethan shrugs, "Unless the mist blocks their vision, I would think they would check out a light source since they are guardians of the well entrance and that is their job to check out things that are out of place?"

Amelia Lightfoot |
Amelia puts a hand on Nethan's shoulder and gives it a squeeze. "It's okay - I'm sure Alporel meant it only as a compliment. But I appreciate you standing up for me." She really is quite grateful for that.
"The mist would pose a problem if we just use light. We definitely want to get as many of them as we can. I say we have someone with magical training come along and set up an alarm."
Can Alporel "floating disk" his way there? That seems like a quiet method of sneaking about if there ever was one.

Nethan Ryon Akerman |

Nethan nods with a kind smile back to Amelia.
Since it floats above the ground and it is not motorized in anyway, I would think it would be silent or give him a bonus to stealth.

Calathar the Golden |

Calathar begins to pace, restless. Anyone who knows him well knows that he is about to go off on his own and seek action if none is coming to him soon.

Dreyyn |

any of us could set off the alarm.

GM_Radiance |

@Amelia: Yes you can climb up, where the arrow is the lowest point the other bits of terrain are elevated and climbable whereas the well at the back is the stones.
@Jeremiah: Yes you can use bullets to set off gunpowder, I don't see why not.
@Everyone: The plan is getting very elaborate at this point, shall we just have Amelia plant the explosives, someone (at this point it doesn't matter too much) set off the alarm, then get the encounter around the bombs and they go off? I'll put icons for people on the board, put yourselves south of the Xs unless you can hide then you can go north. Once I see everyone in place I shall start the encounter as the explosives will knock a good deal of health off of most of the creatures but I don't think it'll kill all of them.

Nethan Ryon Akerman |

Yes, let's go for it!

Calathar the Golden |

After Alþórel whispers in his ear, Calathar nods.
"I can shield five of us from the sight of the undead," he mentions. "But I have to touch you and the time is limited. After the behemoth, close on me for the blessing."
He unsheathes his huge no-dachi and waits calmly for the mayhem to begin.

Jeremiah Flynt |

Jeremiah climbs a rock formation some way away from the planned ambush point and draws his revolver. For now he is content to let the others play their parts. If for some reason they cannot set off the explosives themselves, his preternatural gift with his chosen weapon should allow him to follow through with the plan.
Can he see any of the undead from his position?

Nethan Ryon Akerman |

Nethan takes up his current map position and activates his Inertial Armor.
AC = 14 (inc FF and Touch)
PPs 7/8
Inertial Armor = Lasts 3 hours

Alþórel |

"Calathar, Can you shield us now?"
Hopefully I've placed Alþórel right. Trying to follow Amelia, need to be within 20ft of the explosives to cast the Alarm scroll. Casting the scroll may well call the undead. Can we get shielded now please Calathar? Neither Amelia or I intend to attack them...

Dreyyn |

placed my character.
Dreyyn draws his two-bladed sword and adopts his Inner Sphere Stance, an obviously defensive posture.

GM_Radiance |

As the group wait patiently using their bait. A set of 4 of the zombies pop out of thin air. Curiously groaning at the sound looking about to see what it might be. The barrels don't look like anything all that threatening to them so they poke them. One of the group springs the trap, igniting the barrels setting all nearby alight with flame.
Explosions!!: 10d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 6, 4, 5, 5, 3, 4, 3, 4) = 38
The one closest to the barrels is all but dust, the blackened bodies of the remaining zombies stare off into the distance for a brief moment. Realizing that they have been attacked they all let our a screech before trying to engage with their foes. The zombies seem to be extremely damaged now with parts of their bodies smoldering away their twig like bodies barely able to support their weight much longer.
As a note, damn these zombies are angry.
Initiative order: ???? zombies, Amelia, Dreyyn, Elise, Jeremiah, Behemoth , Tsadok, Alþórel, Calathar.
???? zombie: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21
Behemoth: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Alþórel: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Calathar: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Nethan: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Jeremiah: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
Elise: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12
Tsadok: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Amelia: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
Dreyyn: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
For combat, post when you can, I will try to keep initiative order for resolution so for example if Dreyyn gives someone a buff then it will apply to those after him in initiative but not before.
Round 1
As the smoke settles from the explosion of the two barrels the battered zombies all 'jump' ahead scattering out to target different people. Behind them looming in the background is the behemoth, it is breathing heavily and the group can hear the grinding gears between each simple movement it makes.
1 attacks on Dreyyn, 1 on Elise and 1 on Tsadok all against touch AC
Dreyyn 1: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Elise: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
Tsdaok: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
The zombies try to bite down on their would be victims but Dreyyn and Tsadok move narrowly out of the way. Elise is a little too surprised by the zombies 'jump' and it sics down on her shoulder. A sudden jolt of electricity is sent through her body.
damage (electric): 3d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 2) = 12

Alþórel |

38 damage and they're still moving! Wow...
Did Calathar render anyone invisible?
Encanting words older than his companion's civilisation Alþórel calls forth fire, then shapes it with words. When he is finished a ball of fire is in front of the Behemoth.
If am not invisible, will move it into a zombie's square. Reflex save DC 16 or damage: 3d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 3) = 10 fire damage.

Elise of the Red Hill |

My guess is that 3 out of 4 made their reflex saves - on the other hand, if they had individually rolled hp a quick look suggests that CR 4 have ~40 hp which would give CR 3 or perhaps even CR 2 a decent chance to surpass 38 dmg with good rolls ^^
"Balder's Balle!"
Elise recoils for a second before realizing that her target actually teleported to her - spareing her the brief walk before rending it limb from limb. Uttering a another shrill shout, a warcry this time, she summons the fury of her blood and gets to it.
Claw: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
Claw: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
Damage: 1d6 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
Damage: 1d6 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Atleast one savage slash connects with the blackened husk, sending pieces of burnt flesh and charred bone in all directions.
Rageing, 12 damage taken. Just assumed their AC was lower then 23 : )

GM_Radiance |

@Elise: Nah, they have resistances. The one that died just didn't have the toughness feat (I ain't kidding about that either) they each have very little hp left.
The zombie that chewed on Elise's shoulder gets his body cleaved in two by some rather large claws. The head then relinquishes its bite and falls to the ground leaving two more zombie's standing.

Amelia Lightfoot |
"Those are some fast zombies!"
Amelia steps out from her hiding spot and hurls starknives in quick succession at the zombies. While one heads straight for its target, the others ricochet off the walls, as if to attack the zombies from all sides. Just for cinematic effect; no actual gameplay consequences.
Targeting the closer one first; if that dies, subtract 1 from attack rolls due to range.
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18; damage: 1d4 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23; damage: 1d4 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19; damage: 1d4 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
She also draws her shield.

Nethan Ryon Akerman |

Round 1, Initiative 7
Nethan's eyes glow a bright blue and he begins to radiate electricity just like his father. Then he points his finger in the direction of the zombies and issues the verbal component, "Nil'gnos arcaniss!".
Two large missile made of force streak forth from Nethan's finger tip and slam directly into the zombie in front of Elise or any that remain left standing when it is Nethan's turn.
Mythical Magic Missile Damage: 4d4 + 2 ⇒ (2, 2, 3, 2) + 2 = 11
Nethan will move 5 feet closer next to Elise and look over his shoulder making sure nothing is sneaking up from behind.
The light show is for effect and does nothing else. I mean for pete sakes, it is Mythical Magic and it should be more spectacular than mundane magic from a role playing perspective. And I'll move Nethan his 5 foot step when I can.

Dreyyn |

Dreyyn flies into action, springing into a charge using his Panthera on the Hunt maneuver.
charge at an additional +2, speed 50
1d20 + 6 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 6 + 2 + 2 = 11
1d8 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12

Jeremiah Flynt |

Flynt, on his perch, watches the familiar sight of the sundry eccentrics he has found himself in the company of wading into battle with much pomp and violence. Instead of rushing to their aid, he focusses on a more pressing matter. Cupping the butt of his revolver in his off hand, he lines up a shot on the looming hulk in the distance and fires.
Revolver (Aiming most deadly): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

GM_Radiance |

@Dreyyn: I'm guessing you want to charge the Behemoth?
@Calathar: If you want to retroactively turn someone invisible that's cool ^^ I just wanted to get the ball rolling on this scene.
@Nethan: Ah that's what that was, sorry I thought it was a buff that was sometimes up. My bad.
Amelia sends some starknives ricocheting about, one of the zombies notices this and jumps. Unfortunately for him right into the path of another starknife. The other two starknifes lodge into the remaining zombie and they both fall to the ground where they remain.
Dreyyn charges the Behemoth with all his might but manages to fall just short however readies himself for the attack.
Jeremiah however hits home with a well placed shot, Dreyyn can here the bullet pierce through flesh first then hit something with a distinct metallic sound within the creature. It lurches a little from the impact then rises on its hind legs looming over Dreyyn, it leans in with a bite at Dreyyn's legs trying to send him to the floor.
bite: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
damage: 1d6 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
trip: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24
Dreyyn is sent to the floor and the beast rips a part of his flesh off with the attack that it eats quickly. The wounds that it sustained from the bullet start to seal up a little after eating the flesh.

Jeremiah Flynt |

Undeterred, Flynt keeps aiming and firing, the only way to put this thing down was to keep putting holes in it.
Revolver: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
1d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

Elise of the Red Hill |

Satisfied that the zombies are down - and staying there Elise steps over their torn bodies and charges towards the Behemoth. She draws upon the power residing in her blood to surge forth at a supernatural speed giving her ample time to unleash a savage series of slashes - spraying blood and gore over both her, Dreyyn and the Behemoth.
"I WILL SEND YOU SCREAMING TO HEL'S HALLS YOU OVERSIZED RAT!!"
Swift action to use 'Fleet charge' moving up to the behemoth and attacking once, ignoring DR. Then full attack on the monster.
Claw: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
Damage: 1d6 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12 this one ignores DR if it hits.
Claw: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
Damage: 1d6 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
Claw: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
Damage: 1d6 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
12 hp down, 1 mythic power used, 2 rounds of rage used. Looks like I need to improve my to hit rolls. The damage is good already ^^

Dreyyn |

actually just wanted to attack whatever I could reach.

Dreyyn |

Dreyyn will fight defensively and and with combat expertise (net bonus -5 to hit +3 ac), move action stand from prone, standard action attack defensively.
1d20 + 6 - 5 ⇒ (6) + 6 - 5 = 7
1d8 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 3 + 2 = 7

Alþórel |

Apologies, I realise I was very cryptic in my action
|Round 1 | Standard: Cast Flaming Sphere |Move: Move flaming sphere into a surviving enemy|
If the enemy is the Behemoth I would like to know if it appears to be immune to fire.

Nethan Ryon Akerman |

If nothing is sneaking up on Nethan and the Behemoth is still up, Nethan will launch (2) Mythic Magic Missiles into it. If something is sneaking up on Nethan, then he will deal with that.

GM_Radiance |

@Alþórel: I was waiting on everyone to post to finish the round but Tsadok is no longer posting so I will resolve your action now. Edit: Ah wait Calathar hasn't posted his action, he is to post for round 1 too.
Nethan and Alþórel both prepare their own magics respectively and lance them over. Both of them hit the creature and do visible damage to it. It seems the resistances the zombies had are not carried over to this creature.
Round 2
Jeremiah takes another shot at the Behemoth, hitting it again but it only scrapped him this time not doing much damaging, the bullet likely lodged in his shoulder blade.
Elise bounds forward with blinding speed however the hide of the monster takes the brunt of her first two attacks whereas the last one hits home. Elise can feel something distinctly bizarre as her claws cut through its flesh. Feels like piping more than actual flesh. Her hand is covered in some sort of grey substance that starts to sting.
fort save: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21
She stomachs the pain and keeps fighting.
Dreyyn gets up from the floor, the creature takes this opportunity to swipe at him again.
AoO: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
damage: 1d6 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
The creature rips some more flesh off of Dreyyn to heal itself a bit more. Dreyyn takes another swing at the creature but the attack goes wide.
Amelia to post, then resolving the Behemoth again. @Nethan, there is nothing more sneaking up on you.

Elise of the Red Hill |

Elise grins in pain as the weird substance soaks her hands. She quickly pushes the unpleasant sensation to the back of her mind - certain that there is more from what that came from soon enough. She notices that the behemoth is doing quite a number on Dreyyn - and it appear to be eating his flesh to heal himself.
"This wretched piece of work seems to regenerate from the wounds he inflicts - " She continues with an audiable taunt hopeing to distract the monster: "HEY - MEATHEAD WHY DON'T YOU TRY SOME OF THIS INSTEAD !"

Calathar the Golden |

Sorry. Two consecutive days of being responsible for the baby while Mom goes Christmas shopping.
Calathar touches everyone, blessing them in the name of Ragathiel.
Use Heirophant ability to gain an elevated hide from undead, then cast it on the whole party.

Dreyyn |

would that hide from undead not have ended as soon as we attacked?
SUPER great how he always manages to barely hit me.... damned dice... Dreyyn at 5hp
