Did we ever get a list from Miss Tarvi of who has gone missing or any other information, or are we just meeting these people to figure all that out... if the later the first question of the cook would simply be We understand that some of the staff have gone missing, as you know your employer cares for your well being, and wants to ensure that all employees are safe. Do you know who is missing?
Unnamed
Sure you have a list. No reason to drag that out. 9 people missing.
The cook recounts the people who are missing and when they went missing
. Please our employer cares about their bottom line and their reputation. Now Ms. Tarvi. She probably cares. She was always a nice girl
Male Half-elf Expert 8 / HP:39|40 / AC:20 T:14 FF:16 / F+3 R+9 W+8 / Init +8 / CMB+4 CMD 17 /
Exxor smiles and nods. She still is. He gives the cook a moment, before continuing, So, about the missing, tell me where they worked and what they did normally.
Barksalot finds some dogs or other pets that have been hanging around,
Unnamed
The dogs look at Sir B and snuffle at him, pointing their snouts down an alley
Sir B starts sniffing around the alley for nightbeast and undead smells.
M Halfling
Miro speaks to Exxor and Tram. Well let's see if we can check their rooms. Maybe something there that gives a clue.
Barksalot gets an improv dog howling going and serenades a lovely poodle who perches on a windowsill.
Unnamed
What are you doing. I need some definitive actions or questions. Lots of maybes and whatnot.
Male Half-elf Expert 8 / HP:39|40 / AC:20 T:14 FF:16 / F+3 R+9 W+8 / Init +8 / CMB+4 CMD 17 /
So, about the missing, tell me where they worked and what they did normally?
Male Human Aristocrat 7 (hp 53/53)(Subdual 53/53) Init=+1
This whole part has me at a bit of a brain stand still sorry about the lack of posting.
"We want to help sir, Miss Tarvi has been good to us."
He managed to say without too wry a smile.
"But we are concerned about the disapearances. Do you know anyone who may have a lead on whats happened? I would hate to take work and then find one of my two mates here missing the next day."

Miro will check their rooms if allowed and look for clues!

Side bar. Dont forget that you have other folks you can speak with
. They were all the usual sorts. Footmen, various servemts, and a couple guards. They did all the usual duties. Nothing special. All of them disappeared after work.
. Who might have a lead. I'd probably talk to the steward if you can. He tends to keep track of the comings and goings of the staff.
M Halfling
Well let's go find him. Tram, chatting people up is your area.
Unnamed
Tarvi, is able to set up a tea with the steward the next day.
As he sits and precicely stirs his tea he says
What can I do for you?
M Halfling
Miro let's the nobles speak.
Male Half-elf Expert 8 / HP:39|40 / AC:20 T:14 FF:16 / F+3 R+9 W+8 / Init +8 / CMB+4 CMD 17 /
Continuing to speak with staff...
They went missing after work, did they all live in the same part of town, or did they live in different places. Were there any signs that they made it home before disappearing, or signs of struggles?
Unnamed
There have been no signs of them whatsoever. Nothing. Those with families said they never returned home, and those without are behind on their rent. The only thing they have in common is they all live in the same quarter of the city. Perhaps the culprit is between here and there.
Male Half-elf Expert 8 / HP:39|40 / AC:20 T:14 FF:16 / F+3 R+9 W+8 / Init +8 / CMB+4 CMD 17 /
Which quarter did they live in?
Unnamed
I do not have the book with me with the map...but fill in the blank with the area of the city where the lower class live...not squalor but not of many means
_____. Most people not of nobility live there, at least those that do not have the privilege of living in a home as part of their compensation He is clearly proud to be one of those.
Male Human Aristocrat 7 (hp 53/53)(Subdual 53/53) Init=+1
"Has any of those you serve been doing anything stranger than normal? Im not asking for details, I understand propriety, Also, this is Cheliax the less details known about what may or may not have been promised to whom is best left unsaid."
Unnamed
of course not! he snaps. That you would even suggest such a thing is abhorrent.
Unnamed
in the interest of the game not bogging down even more...in a nutshell you learn that there is an area on the way back from the manor that seems to be where the attacks are taking place, and they seem to be random. Sir Barksalot returns carrying naught but a red colored fish
You know where the attacks seem to occur, how wopuld you like to proceed?[/ooc]
I say good chaps! This red fish is a sign that Queen Mittens has been lurking about! I dare say I wouldn't be surprised if she was behind these kidnappings.
1 person marked this as a favorite.

Male Half-elf Expert 8 / HP:39|40 / AC:20 T:14 FF:16 / F+3 R+9 W+8 / Init +8 / CMB+4 CMD 17 /
Is Queen Mittens fond of herring?
Herring?! She would be very insulted to be served a herring. This is a Crimson Schooner, a very fine specimen that is sold at the finer dining establishments and one she always demands served. So we can start tracking her down there.
Male Half-elf Expert 8 / HP:39|40 / AC:20 T:14 FF:16 / F+3 R+9 W+8 / Init +8 / CMB+4 CMD 17 /
No, sorry, that is a herring. I think you have been fed a false clue to throw you off Queen Mittens real trail. In the meantime, would you like to join us, we have an evening stroll planned for the city tonight? Heading to the _____. quarter.
Exxor gives a nod to Miro and Tram for approval or other ideas.
Unnamed
Just wanna go strolling through the "bad neighbordhood"
Male Half-elf Expert 8 / HP:39|40 / AC:20 T:14 FF:16 / F+3 R+9 W+8 / Init +8 / CMB+4 CMD 17 /
Not directly - figured we would come up with some plan... vague disorganized and ready to fall apart for any number of reasons before walking into the bad part of town.

ah nuts...there goes my tpk

M Halfling
Shall we pretend to be drunk and have visible coin pouches in order to lure someone in?.
I say! I do not get drunk I get mildly tipsy and unsteady in my gait. I do believe we should explore the area and perhaps see if we can narrow down a likely location by questioning the locals.
Unnamed
So who do we listen to? The hobbit or the pup?
Male Half-elf Expert 8 / HP:39|40 / AC:20 T:14 FF:16 / F+3 R+9 W+8 / Init +8 / CMB+4 CMD 17 /
Are those my only choices....
M Halfling
Let's go question the locals.
Unnamed
There are several tenement houses in the area. Tightly packed
M Halfling
Miro starts canvasing the area, chatting up the local halflings to see if they have noticed anything.
I don't wanna roleplay: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (8) + 13 = 21

1d100 ⇒ 72 Miro does find a couple of halflings, who do not live in the area, but are sent by their owners to clean some of the buildings whenever someone leaves town or dies or whatever...almost like a low rent apartment building.
They tell you that the word on the street is that you do not want to be out between the hours of midnight and 2 am. More often than not if you are you don't come back.
Male Human Aristocrat 7 (hp 53/53)(Subdual 53/53) Init=+1
Taking a more active role in questioning, the young noble would simply knock door to door. Asking any who answered the doors what they knew of the problem about folks disapearing. If any asked he would merely mention he was part of an avant guarde group of young nobles who sought to improve the city through overseeing the welfare of the common folk.
diplomancy: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25

. Can't say I know much...but they was always alone...does that help?
M Halfling
Mito finds the others. Couple of house cleaners I chatted up said that around midnight to 2 hours later is when people start vanishing if they are outside. COurse that could be due to Shadowbeasts as well.
Male Human Aristocrat 7 (hp 53/53)(Subdual 53/53) Init=+1
"I suppose we could swing through here and do a cleansing if need be. It is what the torchbearers should be doing at least. I just feel like we are missing something you know?"
He grumbled to the others after not finding out near as much as he would like. He would have thought his popularity as an actor or the new champion of shit hole bar fights would have been worth a bit more amongst the populace. Maybe Tarvi was on to something about there being other ways than fighting to gets folks attention. thoughts for later he supposed.
M Halfling
Well we can sweep the area to check things out> best have ourselves a bolt hole since having a line of shadows after us will be a very bad thing.
Male Half-elf Expert 8 / HP:39|40 / AC:20 T:14 FF:16 / F+3 R+9 W+8 / Init +8 / CMB+4 CMD 17 /
We may not attract the attention we want if we are all together. Perhaps Tram can go for a nighttime stroll while we skulk in the shadows?
M Halfling
Possible. Perhaps make something that gives him a yummy smell
Male Human Aristocrat 7 (hp 53/53)(Subdual 53/53) Init=+1
"Why do the plans always seem to have me as bait?"
He grumbled and shook his head with a sigh. No wonder Miss Tarvi woudlnt consider him as serious marraigible material he wasnt liable to be around long.
"Although its as good as plan as any it seems."
Unnamed
Ok. So Tram wanders alone in a dark alley at 1 am. Where do folks want to be observing from?
M Halfling
You can have Barksalot with you. Just a man and his talking dog.
Miro stealths among the nearby rubbish.
Stealth: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (1) + 20 = 21
His hedgehog covers the other side, just a rather odd looking vermin
