GM Braingamer |
Out of character stuff in this thread, please.
For now, let's have everyone check in. For those of you who haven't posted on these messageboards before, feel free to test out the features. We'll start the actual game once everyone's ready.
GM Braingamer |
Well I just realized one thing: editing from phone is bad idea. Formatting sucks.
Yeah, I posted for a good month on my phone when I was in Quebec. Took a good half hour to put anything up... I highly recommend using something with a keyboard.
Gonan |
Um.. Hi. I think this is where I'm supposed to check in... I do magic...
Gonan |
How would I create a character page for my familiar, or do I not have to?
GM Braingamer |
If you want, you can make a new alias for your familiar and put stats on there. That would also let you post as your familiar.
Another option is just to put the information on your wizard's page.
GM Braingamer |
You arrived outside Borok last night, found yourself a plot of land near the tourney grounds, and set up your tent there.
Nope, you've got a tent set up.
I was expecting either the two of you to take longer, or the other group to be faster. Time should synch up after this round.
Iluna |
Well considering the thugs have acted and myself and the monk are unconscious, I'd say it's your turn to save the day my friend.
GM hath said party may act in what order they see fit since we are grouped in initiative. Basically: first post, first served.
Also it appears that you have a window of time after you post in which you may edit your post. This can be selected from the lit of tabs next to your name above the post. How long this window remains open I do not know as yet. You may wish to consult someone more knowledgeable.
Berate me if I am wrong in these things, O wise GM.
Andaris |
Perhaps I should stress the importance of "yes, and...?" Carefully read the person's post prior to yours and unless the actions are independant, the first poster always acts first. You don't make a diplomacy check or ask another question to the same person as the previous poster unless it is explicitly a follow-up of the initial question or you are invalidating the previous person's post. If another player involves you in their post, acknowledge, see if you can incorporate a response in your own post, THEN take your new actions. :)
GM Braingamer |
What the hell? GM, I didn't see your post before. What happened? I was posting straight after Kaid'an.
If you preview your post, it should show a bunch of the most recent posts above it. You can check to see if someone's posted in the interim.
It also might have been the site - it usually works pretty well, but a snafu is possible.GM Braingamer |
Regarding the competing offers - I dealt with them as diplomacy checks with the offers given. Mihail made his DC, Kaid'an failed his. Had you both succeeded, preference would have been given to the one who succeeded by more.
Just so you can see how I did it, here's a quick summary.
Breakdown:
Base DC: 19
Relation: Enemy (+5)
Mihail's offer: Go free
Pro - Not killed, not jailed, escape boss
Con - Boss will be mad
Net result: Fantastic (-10)
Kaid'an's offer: Get turned in
Pro - Not killed, 'right thing to do' Kind of minor, in their mind
Con - Jailed (or worse), boss can find easily, boss will be mad
Net result: Even (+0)
Circumstance: -2 (you guys are helping them with wounded)
Final results: Mihail DC 12 (Success)
Kaid'an DC 22 (Failure)
You guys can still discuss how you want to deal with the thugs - maybe want to get Iluna and Andaris's views?
GM Braingamer |
It's not necessarily un-lawful or un-good to do either.
The real question is whether or not Erastil approves.
Kaid'an The Paladin |
Why do I get the feeling it is neither lawful nor good to make lewd gestures or get drunk? Methinks our "Paladin" has issues.
Lawful good does not mean that I am a Saint just that I am a good person and that I believe in some kinda of honour code. Also he is 19. How are you a good person b/c if you mess people's memories? How can any of us be good if we fight and kill? One action doesn't define and person and the alignment system is bonkers anyways. The system is based on old school fantasy character troops. The kinda that I generally find boring anyways. Look at Victus. He is literally called the Grey. He is just open about his enjoying in killing people.
GM Braingamer |
Alignment is a roleplaying aid, not a straightjacket.
Kaid'an is just fine. He's a brash young kid doing brash young kid things.
As a bonus, because he's not actually a paladin, he won't fall for shifting alignment. As long as he stays within 1 of LG, he's good.
GM Braingamer |
Yes. Apologies if the time is not clear - current time in-game is approximately 1:30 or so.
That was lunch you just ate, not supper. Go ahead and change your action if you want.
For future reference, date and time are posted on the campaign info tab.
The month of Erastus is basically July.
Golarian Timekeeping
GM Braingamer |
Now that I went back to check how much time passed, rather than just going by what felt right, it seems the proper timeline is this:
11:45 - Kaid'an and Mihail meet, then go to register for the tournament.
12:00 - Iluna meets the toughs, Andaris and Gonan follow.
12:05 - Combat begins. Iluna and Andaris knocked unconscious. Cavalry to the rescue. Thugs apprehended. Discussion ensues.
1:40 - Iluna and Andaris awake. More discussion.
1:45 - Ate lunch. Heard about hobgoblin infiltration attempt.
2:45 - Finished inquiry about hobgoblins. Joust starts shortly. Current time.
Consider this now official. Time is approximately 2:45.
GM Braingamer |
Map of the tournament grounds posted to the campaign info tab. Not really to scale. Also posted here for convenience.
Andaris |
Don't expect to get to know Andaris very personally any time soon. Let's just say social interactions were formal and limited at his monastery. He is making progress becoming more social, but its not quite there yet, despite his being a generally very open person.
Iluna |
Can I use a spell craft check to recognize that she had tried to use a spell on me?
If I'm not mistaken, I don't believe you can as this is a spell-like ability not an actual spell. However, you can make a K(arcana) check to identify the ongoing effects (DC 20)? Await GM ruling, but that's what I've dug up.
GM Braingamer |
Made a ruling. Didn't make the DC to identify the spell effect, but realized there was one originating from you.
Iluna |
Sounds good. Please also understand my requests for Gonan to make opposed saves are not to instigate PvP, but rather engage in a more dynamic aspect of proper role-playing. Namely, character quirks. I promise not to actively attempt to sabotage the party or it's individual members in any significant capacity in the future. Plus as I pointed out, the worst that can happen at the moment is Gonan becomes distracted and has a brief memory lapse.
GM Braingamer |
Yes. The damage is strain, and the horses are given time to rest.
As an aside, this is something you can do in regular mounted combat too. It increases your move speed, but doesn't normally give bonuses to unseating or anything.
GM Braingamer |
For these contests, you don't really need to worry about coming with a real riddle or story. You can, if you'd like, but it's not required. I'm not going to be that cruel :)
