Will's arrow finally hits its mark, sinking slightly into the creature's arm.

Congratulations, Will. You hit! :)

Illuthal runs to his belongings and picks up his crossbow, preparing to shoot the bugbear next round.

Yay Will

Oh, huzzah. I think it's bunions are hurting it more than that arrow. Posting next round, since I may be off the computer the rest of the day.

Round 3 actions:

Willful grinned at the hit. It may not have gone deep, but at least he was getting used to fighting in the dark. He drew another arrow and loosed, this time aiming for the shoulder of the arm with the morningstar.

The bugbear moves to attack the archer who wounded him.

attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

You notice that the bugbear's strength seems to be fading. He stumbles and nearly drops his Morningstar in the middle of the swing.

Ready for the party.

Will steps back and misses his next shot.

I have never used Summon Monster before but I will use it now. Please let me know if I get it wrong.
Silverpaw moves back to cast and then takes the time to channel his destined powers and calls forth A Eagle to aid the group. move action to out the range of bug bear then standard to cast Summon Monster 1

Deciding it would be a better idea to make his friends not die, Illuthal runs up to Clyde (staying out of the way of the bugbear, if possible) and casts CLW.

Concentration: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 4 + 1 = 19

Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Ooh, good roll.

If the creature is not next to Clyde, he will use a move action to stand, grabbing his axe as part of the move.

Summon Monster is actually a full round action. You can always just use a 5ft step back and cast it. The eagle will also get a full turn the round it's summoned in.

Then I will do that
Silverpaw moves back five feet from the fray. He starts to work his inborn magic to summon aid.

For an eagle you said? It gets a full turn. What do you want the creature to do?

Silver Crusade

Silverpaw directs the Eagle to attack the Bugbear by flying into its face and attacking with its Claws and Beak.

Talon Atk Roll 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
DMG 1d4 ⇒ 2
Beak 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
Dmg roll 1d4 ⇒ 1

The bugbear gets it's eye poked by the eagle. It swings at the summoned creature.

attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

The attack misses. Go ahead everyone.

Will fires again, this time twitching aside as the eagle flew between him and the bugbear. He growled low in his throat as he continued to circle, looking for a clearer shot.

Just so's everyone is aware, Bless, which I cast ~4 rounds ago, gives a +1 on attack rolls for one minute/level. Still 6 rounds of effect left. I just realized I hadn't mentioned duration when I cast it.

Illuthal next moves over to Quink, staying his best out of the bugbear's way.

Concentration: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 1 = 7

His cantrip fizzles and dies.

Was going to cast Guidance to help Quink on his next stabilize check.

This is so funny/sad

Clyde attacks the bugbear again

Axe,Bless: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 141d12 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

Why did you lose your cantrip? And to think a minute/level duration may not be long enough to last a single fight.

death: 1d20 + 1 - 6 ⇒ (11) + 1 - 6 = 6

Back in Sandpoint Brodert Quink awakens in alarm, his sleep disrupted by nightmares of losing his adoptive son. He calms himself, and rolls back over to sleep.

Is Silverpaw going to take any actions himself? Directing your summon is a free action.

Quink, are you dead? How many hit points do you have?

Attempting to aid Quink again, Illuthal casts Cure Light Wounds.

Concentration: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 1 = 7

Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8 It was a good roll, too...

This spell fizzles and dies as well.

Why are you rolling conentration? There's only 1 of the bugbear. Surely you can get to a square where he can't AoO you?

Illuthal Tarun wrote:

Not dead yet, I still have 5 more saves to make before I start rolling up a new character. I just wanted to role-play death in an overly dramatic way :P

Silverpaw will use his ability A sure thing and call apon his arcane strike again as goes to shoot the Bugbear. He also commands the eagle again to attack. He also loads his crossbow while whispering. As he see his attack hits. He lets out a Huzzah

The trait states that I get a single plus 2 against a evil aligned creature. No step other than attacking.

I would ask you to confirm your crit, but you've knocked him out anyway.

With the bugbear thoroughly distracted by the Eagle, the two arrows sink into his chest. He stumbles backwards and collapses. However, he is only unconscious. You can still see his chest rise and fall with his breathing, but it is getting fainter.

Loot:
Masterwork Leather Armor
Masterwork Light Wooden Shield
Masterwork Morningstar
3 Javelins
Potion of Mage Armor
Potion of Shield of Faith
Potion of Cure Light Wounds
6gp

I should also note that the eagle should have disappeared much sooner, but it was the most consistent damage the party had. It will go away faster in future conflicts. Maybe.

arrow recovery:

high suceeds: 1d100 ⇒ 42
high suceeds: 1d100 ⇒ 35

Satisfied that the creature was down, Will quickly rifled through its pockets. The bugbear groaned slightly as Will rolled it over, stripping it of its armor, but otherwise made no move or protest. His years as a mercenary had taught him to be efficient when it came time to loot the enemy...or even his friends Will laid the items out on the ground, piled neatly on top of the armor.

"You guys okay? That brute laid out the pain, didn't it? But, he had more than a little loot on him. Let's divvy it up and have some breakfsat before we head out. Nothing in here I particularly want, but I'll carry some of it if needed until we can sell it."

Once the loot distribution was done, Willful went looking for the arrows he'd loosed. In the near darkness of pre-dawn he was only able to find one that was still useful, The others having been lost in the woods.

We need to help Chitterton! Clyde is unfortunately unskilled with healing.

Clyde will get the healing potion and give it to the Ratfolk if no one else can help.

"Well, that was fun. Is Quink going to be okay? I'm out of spells for the night, and other than those spells, I don't have much skill as a healer."

I can't think of anything that needs to be done. Unless you guys have something, Illuthal is going to go back to sleep, getting as much rest as he can before we set out. Can I prepare spells? I'm not sure how that works with the encounter. I don't think I can. I'm gonna have to learn how to budget my spellcasting from now on :)

Quink is automatically stabilized from the potion. He should be at -4. Since it is almost dawn, you will need to rest for an additional 8 hours to regain spells or hp.

Elemental Ray 6/6 Human Sorcerer 3

I think we better get back to town if we are this beat up. We don't want to meet another on of those things.

Male Tengu Swordmaster Scout Unchained Rogue/1 | HP 10/10, AC: 19 T: 15 FF: 14 | F: +1, R +7 W: +0 | CMB: +1, CMD: 15 | Initiative: +7, Perception: +6

"I'm in favor of heading back. We may be able to prepare a bit better in case something like this happens again, as well."

Let's buy as many bear traps and other such things as we can, and set them up surrounding our camp in the future.

Is anyone else in favor of heading back?

How far out from town are we? Will's not thrilled about heading back, but we've got two nearly dead people already, and our healing stock is out."

You guys are a day out from Sandpoint and another 3 days from Churlwood.
Also, as you were fighting, you notice the kobold with you has disappeared.

Willful looked around to see what the others were thinking, then noticed something. "Anyone else not particularly surprised that the lizard is gone? Must have bolted while the rest of us were fighting the bugbear. So, spend another day hiking back to town to resupply, or hanging out in the woods for a day for these guys to recover. Neither is particularly appealing. Not to mention rat-boy there is still unconscious and like as not moving him will reopen those wounds."

Elemental Ray 6/6 Human Sorcerer 3

Clyde looks at Lulluthal. Can you heal with your magic? If so, we can stay here after resting more.

Male Tengu Swordmaster Scout Unchained Rogue/1 | HP 10/10, AC: 19 T: 15 FF: 14 | F: +1, R +7 W: +0 | CMB: +1, CMD: 15 | Initiative: +7, Perception: +6

"After casting that many spells, I need to rest and prepare spells again. That will take at least 9 hours, at which point I can only cast Cure Light Wounds three times before needing more rest."

Illuthal looks around curiously. "Did anyone see where Draxwile went?" We should probably find his body, just so we don't feel obliged to go looking for him. Maybe the bugbear hit him harder than we thought?

If we stay, we'll probably be here for at least a day, depending on how good the CLW rolls are. That's assuming there's not another encounter. It'd probably be better to head back to down, heal reliably and safely, and then set out again.

Male Tengu Swordmaster Scout Unchained Rogue/1 | HP 10/10, AC: 19 T: 15 FF: 14 | F: +1, R +7 W: +0 | CMB: +1, CMD: 15 | Initiative: +7, Perception: +6

Turns out, I misunderstood how spellcasting works, and when concentration checks were necessary. That CLW that I though fizzled out up above should have worked, which would have healed 8 HP for Chitterton.

Looking back, it appears our DM knew what he was doing, and gave Chitterton that heal even though I thought it failed. Hooray!

Oh whoops, must have missed that post about it working, I thought I was still down and out

Although the healing worked to heal the young ratfllk's wounds, he had spent the tail end of the fight lying on the ground staring. The blur of combat around him overloaded his senses, and when he saw the young lizard-kin sneaking away out of the fight Chitteron's mind went into overdrive.

Do lizardfolk heal the same as a lizard when you cut their tail off? I wonder what their preferred fighting style is? Swarm fighters? Do they have a particular aptitude against giant spiders? Where is he even running back to? What even was his name? I know he burst into the sheriff's office, but I don't actually remember him being invited on the mission? Why does my head hurt so much?

Finally noticing that the fight is over and the other seem to be discussing him, Chiltern lifts his torso upright. "The kobold went that way. I think, geographically he was heading towards Galt? Funny place, Galt. They are very fond of cheese, and artworks, and beheadings..." Again, the rat folks twitches his whiskers in thought and stairs up expectantly at Will. "Maybe our query is in Galt?" And with that, the young ratfolk collapses asleep.

Silverpaw after the fight dismisses the Eagle. He realizes me may have to buy some more bolts soon. He listens to Wil and thinking about the Drawwile he says I hope he is not dead Also how is our rat doing?
Silver will pretty much do what the group wants. He also thinks I need to be more careful
