He walked away without another word to the man and moved back to his position next to the elven woman, ready to move forward.

Rosa, you want to give him his marching orders?


The man happily shuts up and follows the group, everyone is tense as the sit and wait for more guards to storm into the room. 30 Minutes pass and no one shows up... what could be the reason... the think hold longer or risk leaving now.... The demon speaks "I'm boooaaaard"


The group ascends the stair case and are greeted by another door just moving passed another door

Kendrella is kind of relived that the man is not killed and even more so by the fact that no guards seems to come running. She doesn't really want people to die for no purpose and the man might be able to help them survive. She silently hands him the short sword before continuing on.

As they continue into the prison she suddenly get a briliant idea. She whispers to Xanos. "Hey Xanos, since your double can move through doors and walls, could he looks through the walls to see where we are? Maybe we'll even be able to use the window here?"


"If the guards aren't coming, expect an ambush." she warns softly. At each doorway and chokepoint, she's ready for an attack.

"I believe we are currently under ground." Xanos replied to Kenderella. "My spiritual counterpart must remain fairly close to me. I have considered checking what is above the celing, but at the moment it seems to great a risk. Once we pass to the next level, I will assess our situation again."

Hearing nothing but silence it phases passed the door
stealth: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25 his head pushed just pass the door he can see. A reinforced set of double doors at the end. It is lit by two sconces holding torches. A pair of guards is stationed here at the end of the huge hall. this hall has four total fire braziers lighting the area two by the Massive doors and two about mid way in the hall. they each give about 20 feet of decent light and 15 feet of low light

when rosa intimidated the man

His eyes go wide at rosa's words in a meager voice he replies "ok ok lady i'll do as you ask lets just get free..."


One moment. the phantom said through the whisper link back to Xanos and the others.

Then it moved to the right and left walls and slowly stuck it's face through to scout what was on either side of them. He spoke through the whisper, feeding information to Xanos as it scouted through the walls.

Checking through the walls not he right and left, and (if possible) through he right and left diagonally.

"A long hall. Ten feet wide, and roughly eighty feet long from the door. Dimly lit. Two guards at the far end. Four doors along it's length." Xanos said quietly, describing to the others what lay beyond the door.


you know when i think about it the way that your phantom would scout. the argument can be made that a stealth check would not be needed. If it just passes enough for its head to pass into the room then pull back...i but i don't think that would work by the rules..well i will think on this

the phantom's head passes the walls, to the left of the hall it sees a lone guard sitting at a table using a small brazier for light. The phantom can just make out this guard is looking over some documents. the room holds a pair of tables and two more doors leading out.

Then is passes through the right wall and can see a very well lit mess hall. This room holds a few massive dinning tables and two more doors leading out.

one of the guards at the end of the massive hall begins to make his way down...patrol double move 40 ft or 2 squares

Xanos moves to the torch and extinguishes it with his cloak, plunging the room into darkness, then moves back to the stair well to keep out of easy sight.


Talia, needing no light, moves to the side of the door to silence the guard when he enters.

I thought Xanos said to scout the room next to ours as well? Not needing a check or at least counting as either a diminutive or tiny creature (due to the size of the face) makes sense to me. Anyway, what sort of light are we in now? Dim light or darkness? In dim light you can still make out shapes, so slumber works fine, in darkness, not so much. I could imagine some light coming from the stairs, there was light there, if so it would be dim right, though then the guard would still see us well enough to raise alarm? Also, I ass there is no way to stop/warn Xanos from not bringing all the guards down on us by extinguishing the torch?

Kendrella waits patiently as Xanos' ghost scouts ahead of them. "You could check behind us as well. Maybe we can use the window already?"

When Xanos goes to extinguish the torch Kendrella whispers. "Wait, don't" To stop him from doing it.

If darkness:
"Great, you just ruined my chance at silencing him before he can yell out. Do you really think the rest of you can knock him out before he makes a sound? I doubt the Crimson Blade can see in darkness either.

If dim light:
Kendrella gets ready to slumber the man. "I'll try to make him fall asleep again. Be ready to finish him off when he does.

Xanos ignores her protest and puts out the torch. As she admonishes him he points to the stripe of light at the bottom of the doorframe coming from the torches in the hallway beyond.

"You will see him. Now he will not see you."

I thought the torches in the room next to ours were really far away? It looks like 80 feet to me. If Kendrella can indeed see him based on his silhouette from the torch she'll ready an action to slumber anyone who opens the door and steps in.

Each map square is 10 feet. Our character portraits are 5 foot squares. The torches are 30 feet down the hallway, and cast 20 good/20 dim light, which means the light will reach 10 feet into our room when the door opens.

Kendrella got low light vision, which means normal light 40 feet away from the torch/80 feet dim light. So she should be able to see just fine once the door is open. Since the torches are as you say the guards should be able to see Xanos' soul in the dim light just fine at his current position on the map (well except for stealth). I thought he went back in the room with us after checking through the wall?
"I hope for your sake there are torches close enough outside that I can indeed see him." She prepares to cause the guard to fall asleep the moment he steps into the doorway.

Lets just put Talia and Blade on either side of the door in the dark and the rest of us down in the stairwell. That makes it simple.

On one side of the door is a wall, so they both have to stay at the same side
Kendrella once again draws on the power deep within her and makes the guard lose consciousness. She makes her body feel heavy, her eyes droop and her thoughts shut down as she's sent to dream about a magnificent feast, a feast she'll never wake up from. She doesn't move but hisses at the mindblade-weilders from her position at the stairs. "Quickly, catch her as she falls so she doesn't make much noise and silence her forever before she wakes up." Her whole body tenses as she waits to find out if there are any more guards outside who notices what happens with their companion.

With a grapple check (against helpless CMD) somone should be able to hold the guard so she doesn't make noise.

Almost out of reaction The Blade reaches and grabs the woman as she falls to keep her from hitting the ground. Dragging her aside he sighs as he sets her gently down.

"Always a shame. At least make it quick and painless yes?"

The guard falls forward and Blade grabs her, she will soon awaken...surrounded by evil...the other guard fall down the hall took no notice of this action


As blade pulls her out of the doorway I coup de grace.


The female walks into the darkroom and with the coordinated effort of the evil ones she is put down for good...

Kendrella cringes as yet again the guard is brutally murdered. "It would be nice if you could check the walls in the other directions Xanos. If we could use the window already it would be nice. Hmm, how far away is the other guard? Maybe I can bespell him from here. Was there any fine sand or rose petals in that pouch Xanos? I can't do it that far away without components." She walks over to look out the door, though careful to stay in the darkness.

His other half did an etherial circuit of the room while the others patted down the body of the guard.

Kendrella looks into the pouch and finds what she needs before giving it back. "That's all I need for now." Kenderella waits for the result from scouting before taking further action. She uses the time to study the outside room with her sharp elven eyes from the safety of the darkness, preferring to let the others loot the dead body.

The guards eyes are wide as she stars at nothing. Her life drains from her as the group strip her of bloody armored coat, long sword and club.

Kender looks into the hall seeing only the lonely guard at the end. The hall is well adorned with massive portraits of passed wardens and some battles.

What of the scouting? The rooms to the east, west and south are still not revealed. Kinda waiting on that before doing anything further.


those were the only rooms explored, the Phantom dose not have hide in plain sight and there is nothing to mask his movements down the hall so the guard would see him no matter the stealth check...I will post the rooms he can get to once I go to lunch...again it's has been agreed NOT MY FAULT if and when I roll badly...;》.

11. Kitchen
This room houses a well-stocked kitchen and pantry. Besides, the usual collection of plates, bowls and other cooking paraphernalia, there are six large knives here (equivalent to a dagger) and a long meat cleaver (equivalent to a short sword). There is also roughly fifty days’ worth of food stored here – forty days’ worth of perishable and ten days’ worth of iron rations. The fireplace here is a relic of the old castle great hall. It is almost comically large and has a chimney that can be climbed with a DC 10 Climb check. Unfortunately, a fire is always burning in the fire-
place as the servants are constantly stewing tough cuts of meat, baking bread or boiling bones for broth. To avoid getting burned, anyone climbing down the chimney must make a DC 15 Acrobatics check or receive 1d6 fire damage, there is another door way across the room.

There is two people here servants by the look of them one is a vary large man the other is a small girl by the door cutting some meat.

to the right the phantom sees a tower and a field leading around the building.

Is there a wall or are there any people outside? If we all could get through the wall, would it be possible to escape that way or is it barred further? Is it day or night?


it is night, and a second wall can be seen be the Phantom there is a path that leads around the building and a door to a tower

"So, can we just use the window and escape here or should we try to fight our way through more guards?" Kendrella asks Xanos.

If he says that they should continue through the keep Kendrella will momentarily take off her armored coat and start casting her sleep spell. Her incantation is like the tune of a lullaby and it makes those who hear it drowsy even if they aren't the direct targets.

Well, they are 75% chance to succeed. So not that weird to succeed 4 in a row. It makes up for the last time I played a witch though. I think I succeeded at 10-20% of my hexes.
"He'll sleep for a minute. Not much, but it'll give us time to finish him off. Could also give us time to drag him downstairs to get knowledge about this place though. Hurry and get him before someone else comes though." Kendrella whispers as she gets her armored coat back on.

Xanos nods. "He will do."

"Talia, Rosa, please move the unconscious guard back downstairs. Rosa can stay with him and get him ready for questioning. Blade, Kenderella and I will dispatch the guard behind the wall."

Finally he turned to the little girl. "I'd like you and your friend to join my phantom at the end of the hall to help keep watch. Please put out the torches on your way."


Talia will look at Rosa for confirmation and help drag the body down. Despite her fury, her power is in the mind, not the muscles. She will quickly return once the prisoner is secured.

the girl looks to Xanos and nods taking his hand the demon seems to keep jumping through the Phantom every time it looks away as if it thinks it can catch him if hes not looking.

a few of the evil party move down the hall and extinguish the remaining torches, causing the massive hall to be completely dark Right now if you dont have DV you can see nothing in this hall...also what are you doing with the sleeping guard he will soon wake...
