BP added to treasury: 13 [floor (41/3) = 13.66 -> 13]
Yeah, I accidentally a number. Fixed that now. To be clear - we earned 13 BP :P

I've been thinking about next level, Munin, and cohorts.
I love RP'ing with Munin, and he's rather useful, but not sure how useful he'd be as a cohort, just due to body size etc.
What I think I'd like to do, if Fharn is up for it, is that after Munin get's his awakening scroll, Sanita would hire him on as her assistant/manager for when she's out adventuring. Munin would make an excellent 'assistant spook in chief'.
Then she'd take Leadership at 7th, and bring in her half-sister as a cohort. Evelynn (or as Sanita calls her, Evilynn) would make a very good private enforcer (Lore Warden Fighter). Useful in the field if we end up going with 3 groups, or equally useful working with Munin when Sanita's in the field if we go with the 2 groups.
Thoughts?
Fhârn |
@Bej - it is hardly your fault : ) We gained 1 Unrest which will probably disappear just as quickly. And 1 Unrest isn't enough to lower our BP income anyways (13.66 -> 13.33, both floored to 13)
@Sanita - I was thinking of perhaps having him as a manager. A desktop job after he retires from active duty seems fitting : ) When we grab the Stag Lords fort, I was planning on setting up a small council of personal advisers & helpers, and it would be useful to have someone trustworthy watching over the hired help. But I'm sure he can manage multiple jobs ^^
When we hit level 7 there are going to be quite drastic changes, due to the number of cohorts, so it might be futile to speculate until the cards are on the table - so to speak.
For the record, I'm also planning to include some family into the business - Fhârns dear little sister. Way less scary then Sanita's family, no need to worry. Arcane Duellist but mostly there for the helpful features, combat ability is secondary.

I'll be back to play mediator after dinner. I may wait until tomorrow depending how much wine I end up having. :)

Probably brought the animosity on herself... but, can't find anything wrong with what she's saying right now. With a helpless shrug, Roan simply states "When that time comes then."
Pretty much. I mean, I set out for Sanita to be a very gray person. But I also joined the game deep in the (unbeknownst to me at the time) onset of diabetes. Severe mood swings, irritability, etc. Didn't realize what was going on until my eyesight went out on me.
So, yeah, Anastacia's player has every right to play Anastacia as distrusting, even hating, Sanita. I don't hold it against the player one bit. It's all IC RP at this point. Hopefully everyone is finding Sanita a much more pleasant person now. Or at least, she's a more realistic and not intentionally irritating person. Now that my blood sugar isn't over 400 all the time anymore.

Well now I feel like a heel. I wrote my last IC post before I read your post over here. I imagine I would have tried to be less antagonistic. You are playing Sanita as a bit better person, I did notice a difference.
I'm real sorry to hear about the diabetes, mdt, that's a terrible thing. I hope you can keep it well managed.

I am sorry about the diabetes, hope you can keep it in check.
I want to make very clear the view that I, as a player, have on Sanita and how you play her.Sanita is super-argumentative and never once backs down from her opinion. I just don't have time to have Bej discuss everything with her.
Bej wasn't on board with Roan being into the council after just one week but as a player I see that it makes for a smoother game, so I let it slide. Wilhelm's player decided that Wilhelm trusts him, that much is enough for me.
That is something that Sanita never does. It is admirable the effort you put into the character, but in the end, what I ask myself before posting is "does this make for a better game?". Debating over Sanita's freedom as a Spymaster is just role-playing to establish Sanita's persona: it doesn't really affect the game that much, since yeah, you report only to Wilhelm, and then Wilhelm has a council with all of us.
This debate we have is fun now, but it has potential to last for a long time, since Sanita won't back down and yourself admit that Anastacia has every reason not to back down either. Is it worth it keeping it up? It reaches a point where it's not just fun role-playing, it's a chore. That's how I see it at least.
Sanita has a very distinct and coherent personality, which is much better than some characters I found on this boards who were just a race and class. Unfortunately that personality leads to a lot of arguments since it clashes with most of the others’. You post a lot, take every debate to its conclusion, and never once compromise. This, I find it halts the game a bit. Right now, Bej is absolutely NOT on board with Sanita’s request, but I don’t think that debating over it makes for a better game, so I’ll have Bej bite his tongue.
Sanita Malvanna Or'Fana Kalnath |
Actually, I've been trying to keep Sanita to 2 posts 'arguing' with someone before she gives up and lets them do something she considers dumb. :) So I'd already planned on having Sanita just wave Anastacia off as not worth arguing with.
No need to feel like a heel, like I said, you have every right to (in or out of character) respond the way you are. I wasn't in a good place for 3 or 4 months, and it bled over into all sorts of places.
For now, it's very well handled. I've lost 38 pounds since January 1st, my blood sugar is averaging 105 now, and I feel better than I have in a year or two. I even ate some ice cream for the first time since December this week without it causing me any issue. :)
Roan of Irori |
Glad to hear you're doing well, mdt! As I was reading through the backlog of this game I was actually thinking that it seemed uncharacteristically aggressive of you. Thought it may be a difference between your play style and your GM style, but it did seem odd just how ugly that fights were getting for a time.
But again, glad to hear that your doing better now!
Kertuffle |
As you may have noticed, I have been unable to find time to post for several days now. My work has it's stockholder's meeting coming up and I have working extra hours to prepare for it. I have been hoping the past two weeks were an aberration but it is looking more and more that the increased inventory levels at our store are going to be a problem for at least the next few months. Financially, its very good for me, the increased overtime is great. But I can't find time to post, and to honest am so tired by the time I get home that it is impossible for me to generate the creativity to continue this game. If it looked like it would end at the stockholder's meeting, I'd just tough it out, but even if tide of incoming freight ebbed tomorrow it would take a couple of months before things would return to normal. I have truly enjoyed running this game and if you as the players wish to continue, you have my blessing. This isn't an easy decision and I have agonized over it, and if you do find a game master to take over, have him drop me a PM and I'll try to answer any questions as to where I was heading. Thank you all for providing me with these months of wonderful roleplaying heaven and I wish you all well.
Dareon Lebeda |
Well, I know how that is.
Thank you for all of your hard work, Kertuffle - I know running Kingmaker is a lot of bookkeeping and a lot of organization, and I can't imagine running a 12-player game.
Dante Skyborn |
OMG that is sad sad news! I hope we can continue. I also hope your life calms down some Kertuffle. I and want to say, this is the 1st pbp I joined on these boards and after playing in some ten more over the course that this game has been running, you are an incredibly skilled GM and it has been a pleasure to play in your game! So thank you so much!
I really would like to continue as I enjoy everyone in this group and have long term plans for this character.
Lanya Beladon Medvyed |
Thank you for holding out as long as you did Kertuffle.
I'm up there with Dante to say that it was a pleasure to play in your game, still hope to continue if we were given a chance.
Best of luck with your work, I understand it can take a lot out of you.
Fhârn |
I'll echo what everyone said - really sad to see you leave, but I understand. It has been a fine time with you at the wheel Kertuffle : )
I too would love to continue - but I neither know a gm fitting nor have the experience to try and run the show myself.
ps - should your life calm down, and we manage to carry on, don't hesitate to swing back - I'm sure we could make room for another character :D
Sanita Malvanna Or'Fana Kalnath |
Awww, I understand. Sorry about that. I really enjoy this game. I hope your life get's less busy (but stays just as financially lucrative). :)
Sanita Malvanna Or'Fana Kalnath |
So... who wants to post to try to find us a new GM?
Wilhelm Orlovsky |
First, I'm glad to hear that things are going so well for you at work. I completely understand how a busy schedule can drastically cut down on your energy levels. I'll be sorry to see you go, Kertuffle. It's been a lot of fun. Thanks for all the work you've put into the game. :)
@Sanita: If no one steps in before I'm off work this evening, I can probably put something up.
Sanita Malvanna Or'Fana Kalnath |
You can, or I can, I just didn't want to go post a notice if someone else was already doing it.
Sanita Malvanna Or'Fana Kalnath |
Ok, started a thread here, please stop in and say 'Hi' to potential GMs.
Rowan Gideon |
Kertuffle, you've been a great DM and I'm sad to see you go. Good luck handling all that work and we'll be glad to see you return whenever you can. Thank you for running a great game so far. You will be missed!
Sanita Malvanna Or'Fana Kalnath |
Ok, there are two potential GMs wanting to take over, possibly. Everyone drop in on the thread and say hello to them, and look over their GMing styles from their campaign tabs? We'll have to decide who shortly.
Fhârn |
I'm currently visiting my parents, so it is unlikely that I have time to look over their campaigns today - but I'll be home by tomorrow night and can check them out then.
If we need to decide before then, I'll trust your judgement : )
Wilhelm Orlovsky |
Welcome back Felix! I'm glad to hear you've got things back on track. As for the game, we could just make your acceptance a precondition. :)
Sanita Malvanna Or'Fana Kalnath |
Welcome back Felix. We're level 6 now, so you should level up.
Old Guy GM |
Figures, I finally get situated after having to rebuild my life and now I'm going to have to beg a new gm to let me in.... a bit of sadness that.
For what its worth, if I do take this (and its ok with all involved), you won't have to beg, or even ask. I've liked Felix so far. Though I haven't come on how a kobold is an Orlovsky, or a female is named Felix. But then again, I haven't gotten to the backgrounds at all, and just about to start Felix's Thread.
Wilhelm Orlovsky |
Let's just say that lots of things change in the Stolen Lands. :) If you read through the Battle of the Stag Lord's Keep, you'll find out what happens.
Old Guy GM |

Aha! Methinks I see...he didn't START that way. I was fooled by the current-state avatar, having never seen the original. I guess...ouch Kertuffle!!
Sanita Malvanna Or'Fana Kalnath |
Uhm, yeah, that was sort of a combination of mine and Rowan's fault. :)
I got Felix into the fight when he didn't want to go, and Rowan (I think it was Rowan) accidentaly moved the map so it looked like Felix was out from under cover, and then things got really complicated from that point. :)
Wilhelm Orlovsky |
A little digging and I believe this is what Felix looked like for most of the game: A portrait!
Rowan Gideon |
I take responsibility for that. I had casted Shift Google map because of technical difficulties. I thought I moved everyone back to where they were but overlooked Felix. I give him applause as a player for going with his character's change.
@Felix: I'm glad to see you return! I still feel bad about that incident though...
Wilhelm Orlovsky |
I'm just glad to have such a potent druid (able to shift the land so forcefully!) on our side. It's just a *cough*tragic*cough* bonus that Felix's transformation allowed for my ascendancy. :P
Roan of Irori |
As I wasn't part of the original crew for this, I'm not sure if "welcome" or "welcome back" is the right salutation... regardless, glad to see that life's clearing up for you Felix, I'm a new guy to the group, so welcome! ...back?
Anastacia Stormwing |
Hey Felix. Glad to see you back!
Also, just read Roan's proposal. I'm glad my char left the room, I'm tired of arguing.
Let's just say that Machiavelli would council against such a proposal. He cautions against bringing in foreign powers to aid in your wars, and against using mercenaries. :)
Sanita Malvanna Or'Fana Kalnath |
Sanita would be fine with it. She already has a spy in the council meeting to tell her about it, and she'd just insert her spies into the 'mercenary group' to keep an eye on Roan and make sure he's treated like a mushroom. :)
Old Guy GM |
OK, help me out with these questions as I continue to read:
Who are the current active characters? This would include Felix if he was getting back to this campaign (I think he said he was entering games slowly)
What (if any) kingdom roles have been chosen?
Using Ultimate Campaign Kingdom rules? That would be what I use.
Just a start, will keep reading gameplay
EDIT: found the Kingdom spreadsheet, this still accurate?
Roan of Irori |
Dareon Lebeda, CG diviner 5/magaambyan arcanist 1
Bej, LN fighter 1/transmuter 5
Fharn, LN fighter 1/scryer 1/eldritch knight 4
Wilhelm, LG paladin of Iomedae 6
Anastacia, NG cleric of Pharasma 6
Vors, NG invulnerable rager 6
Dante, NG fighter 6
Sanita, CN rogue 2/chiurgeon-vivisectionist alchemist 4
Rowan, NG druid of Erastil 6
Lanya, CN serpentine sorcerer 6
This is a copy-paste list from Dareon, who made it to help me when I came on board. So myself and Felix aren't on it, but beyond that, it should be complete otherwise. Will try to get more information on other things here soon.
Wilhelm Orlovsky |

You can add to Roan's list the following:
Roan of Irori, NN Heretic Inquisitor of Irori 6Holbrecht Bastionne, LN Cleric of Brigh 6
Felix Orlovsky, NG Oracle 6
What (if any) kingdom roles have been chosen?
All of them. Ruler has been selected previously based on a mixture of patron support and voting by other members of the Charter. Now that we're founding a kingdom, I believe our leader is chosen by the terms laid out in the Compact (you can see some details in the Viktor's Gameplay thread. Basically our leader is chosen as a psuedo-CEO by our backers in Brevoy and Restov). You'll have to ask Kertuffle for details on that.
Our council seats were chosen as follows:
Ruler - Wilhelm
Councilor - Roan (temporary?)
General - Dante
Grand Diplomat - Layna
High Priest - Anastacia
Magister - Dareon
Marshal - Rowan
Royal Enforcer - Vors
Spymaster - Sanita
Treasurer - Fhârn
Warden - Bej
Lacking a seat: Holbrecht, Felix (temporarily left the game)
Using Ultimate Campaign Kingdom rules? That would be what I use.
We're using the Ultimate Campaign rules including all the downtime stuff. It's been helpful particularly to help manage our gear levels which would be way below WBL without (probably still below but I can't say for sure. :))
As far as our current status goes, we just all made it back to Oleg's after the exploration we did after the battle at the Stag Lord's (2 rounds of it). We've rolled out our first month of Kingdom building and the date is ready to be advanced up to <blank>(Gozren? I can't recall...) 8th which will cover basically a month of downtime. We're somewhere in the middle after Fhârn and Sanita return from their side adventures and we're going over IC the planning for our kingdom building. Once we finish that, we can probably do some quick posts about our downtime activities and then enact the next stage of our plan. We were going to do some exploring (in two groups) but if Felix is returning (not sure how that'll work IC?) then we may want to split into 3 groups instead to cover more ground. After that we were talking about taking a year or so (maybe more?) of downtime to kingdom build.
EDIT: found the Kingdom spreadsheet, this still accurate?
It was accurate at the start of our kingdom building. I'm not sure if it's accurate now. I'd have to look it over and compare against my Herolab notes. :)
Dareon Lebeda |
We're in Desnus 8 in terms of game mechanics-date. We're still roleplaying a bit at the end of Gozran, as I remember.
Old Guy GM |
The hardest part about reading this is following when the threads change from one to the next. Not having run it to this point, I don't where the breaks are unless someone posts "let's move to the X thread" and "let's move back to the main". The multi-thread option is a great advancement since I've run here last, but MAN does it cause confusion when you aren't the guy who set it up! I've been using the date-of-posting skips to help me see when a break occurs, and when to go back.
Sanita Malvanna Or'Fana Kalnath |
The 'move to thread x' comments are usually in the discussion threads, so that makes it a bit hard to link up, I could see for sure.
