BTW... Do you consider any sort of "passive check", like Perception and Sense Motive?

What about traps? Are we using the "you absolutely can't detect traps, no matter how obvious, unless you're specifically looking for them" RAW, or maybe get a passive check, but at penalty (Like a -5 or -10)?

I allow you to notice traps with a perception roll. It doesn't have to be specifically for traps.

Do we get "passive checks" on any other situation?


Generally, the PCs roll perception enough that there will be no need for passive checks. However, when there is something that involves perception and no one announces they are rolling it, I will roll for you and tell you who sees what.

For example, if you are going through a forest and there is a monster hiding in the trees, and no one decides to roll perception, I will roll perception and then go "so and so, and os and os, both see and hear an orc in the forest. He-who-must-not-be-named hears the orc, and ThatOtherGuyInYourGroup notices nothing"

You really should roll Initiative for the players... Otherwise, it'll take a couple days just for the 1st round to start!


Well, the battle map wasn't/isn't ready anyway, so I think it didn't have much of an affect. However, I will roll initiative for you guys from now on.

Cheers for the new map, Legit; it's all visible now. However, you have me in the initiative order twice; once at 20 and once at 7. I'll be moving on 20, since that's what I rolled in my post.

Also, is it alright (for flavour purposes) to have Khazima's spellbook be the strings of beads she carries and wears? I like the idea of using them to prepare her spells - think of counting a rosary. It just seems to fit her.

That is an interesting idea. I will think on that. (If it has no mechanical effect, then I like it.)

Sorry... I have had a real hard time getting onto the boards over the weekend. Could not log on at all yesterday - didn't even get the goblins.

Site's been dodgy as all get-out lately, and always when I'm available. It's up right now, but it's quarter to three in the morning. I'll keep trying tomorrow, but if you're waiting on me, don't. I haven't been able to get more than a few minutes of working site time a day for over a week now.
