Pethjun glances over her shoulder and with a sniff double checks that everyone has finally finished cleaning themselves off from the trap and is read to press on. "You finally ready?"
She moves on into the other room, intentionally flicking her bladed tail back and forth in an attempt to keep people back, but then gives an annoyed growl as Vanarog pokes his head past her shoulder. Apparently her tail was not enough of a deterrent as before she even has a chance to go off and look at the supplies, and potentially set off any traps that Vanarog obviously was wanting her to, Fazgyn sticks his head past her other shoulder.
Her eyes bug for a second as she stares at the man. "But you were supposed to be sneaking ahead! Arrgh! Fine, I guess I have to be meat shield for all ya'll!" With a fed up huff, she stomps around this half of the room, intentionally going anywhere a smart true dragon would hide a trap, and intentionally making a racket in case she can draw in some enemies in a near by room.
Done drawing out any dangers, she settles down some and goes over to investigate the tools. "Fine, Fazgyn, let's split'em. What do you want?"

Wall Drag vs Pethjun's CMD: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21
The noise echoes throughout the cavern, but nothing appears to attack Pethjun. However as she stomps about the room, she suddenly starts feeling the ground slip beneath her feet as she is pulled toward the cliff wall.
It feels like heavy weight is pulling on her entire body keeping her from easily pulling herself away. Worse yet a sickly icky sensation pours from the stones over her.

K Arcana vs Crack's Magic: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20
Vanarog pipes up as he sees the auras come into vision "Strange magics coming out of that crack. Kinda where Pethjun is going.. See anything there?" Vanarog asks, a bit oblivious to Pethjun's plight.
Ye Majestic and most powerful then points to a small satchel further south in the middle of the room "Magic things over there too! Fetch them for me Pethjun and I will use my magics to know them!" He reaches his feeble arm and waggles in in the direction of concern, his eyes squinting and trying to get a better look.

Sedoriku's Pregen of the Month |

Pethjun just gives a small yerp of surprise as she gets yanked to the wall, but once she figures out what's happened, she gives a sigh of annoyance. She starts pulling away form the wall wiht her considerable strength, gumbling out loud, "See what happens when you aren't careful! And hold on Vanarog, I'm busy right now."
Will save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
CMB: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
She growls angrily as the icky sensations ofnegative energy flow over her and open up some wounds. As she, hopefully, breaks free from the wall she starts talking again. "And That is why I should be in front of most of you, I can handle myself! Also, something or someone is giving off the same energy that Skyrahk does when she's angry..."
"Now that that is taken care of, I think I can get your bag, Vanarog. Though I claim dibs on anything shiny inside!" She moves over to the bag, if she has time to.
No sure what action braking free was, but she'll move after tthe bag if she can.

GM Blazej |

The issues is resolved. Pethjun is able to escape the trap and retrieve the bag without further damage.
It is only by a small margin that Pethjun escape the pull of the wall. As she broke free she managed to retrieve the satchel Vanarog noted.
Looking inside you find some rotted rope, pitons, and a number of flasks and vials. They are the source of the magic that Vanarog detected.
There are two vials containing a slowly moving green mixture. A constant film grows and over the glass exterior like condensation, but this film isn't wet but very tacky. Hands and objects stick to and it take a minor amount of force to pull the vial free.
There are three dull black flasks, but opening them reveals the liquid inside glow with a soft light. The smell it creates is reminiscent of mushrooms, but even just the vapor relaxes and relieves the pain from your lingering burns, cuts, and other wounds.

Sedoriku's Pregen of the Month |

Pethjun takes the flasks and vials and tries a little of both, definitely not handing them off to Vanarog immediately. "I claim dibs!"
Perception, Vials: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
She gives the vials an odd look, not knowing what the taste she encounters means, meaning this is probably not that important. "Vanarog, you can have these, I have no idea what they are..."
Perception, Flasks: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
After a small taste of the flasks, though, her eyes light up. "Healing potions and good ones at that. I'm keeping one! Anyone else want one?"

Engashez intercepts Pethjun's handoff to Vanarog, and studies the vials intently... but disappointingly has no idea what they might be. "Bah, probably nothing important," she offers as she completes the handoff to Vanarog.
"I agree. Let Fagzyn have the other healing potion," she nods at Skyrahk.

GM Blazej |

The rest of the inspection of this half of the cavern goes smoothly. The central ridge still attempts to pull in those that get too close, but the area as long as one keeps a short distance from the central cliff edge it can be avoided.
The materials are somewhat laid out, but it is easy to pack them into your own packs.
There are a number of exits from this cavern in many directions. To the left are a set of more compact tunnels while exits to the right and two more going forward lead into other smaller caves.
Where do you wish to go or anything else you wish to inspect?

Athrax by Poblano |

Craft Alchemy: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (19) + 16 = 35

He follows behind like Pethjun asked, but chooses the direction. "Compact tunnels! Good for Kobolds, bad for longshanks! Go go!" He prods the others along with his staff.

Who will take the lead into the tunnels or some other tactic?

Sedoriku's Pregen of the Month |

Pethjun grumbles slightly at the bossy one's bossiness, but well aware that Vanarog'd be stupid enough to lead the charge if she didn't go in, heads to the front of the group. She gets ever so slightly unnerved by the muttering in the cave and takes one of the two flasks she'd kept from earlier and downs it, before looking back at Fazgyn. "Ah, Fazgyn you want to do your sneaky thing and see what's ahead of us? There's something muttering something or such up here."

Botting Fazgyn
Fazgyn Peek: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26
Fazgyn Sneak: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (11) + 15 = 26
Fazgyn skulks into the tunnels to find what they might hold.
What Fazgyn finds...
Inside the tunnel are a numerous shelves holding rather little but dust. The muttering is coming from one of a trio of manic looking creatures lurking in the pitch black darkness. The look a bit like a hairy-foot halfling but with pale blue skin, big white eyes, wild unkempt hair, and readying multibolt crossbows for someone they can see, which isn't you.
As you move in you recognize some of the words as Undercommon in the muttering and it becomes clearer as you scout the tunnel. [b]"Scaley things have what we want. What we want, they won't give. What they wont give, we will take."[/spoiler]
Returning back party he reports quietly and sneakily.

GM Blazej |

For the room you are in right now, I have marked on the map the boundary of hazard that Pethjun found. If anyone starts that turn in that area you would take negative energy damage. If you move adjacent to that area you are forcefully pulled toward the area and held there requiring you to break free before being able to escape.

Engashez by Zin |

Just to clarify, did it seem like the creatures were talking about different scaly things than us?
In what part of the tunnels did Fagzyn find these creatures?

Vanarog sighs as things stall, he points to his bodyguard and makes the 'shhh' sign with his finger and starts to creep inside a bit to have a look, hoping the others will do the same.
Stealth: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21

GM Blazej |

Vanarog's movement into the cave are not caught by these wary and patient enemies. Vanarog sees the three same enemies Fazgyn spotted. They move anxiously their already waning patience drawn thin, their fingers ready to fire their crossbows at the first thing they see.
You can attempt to launch your own covert ambush, you can try to sneak away into another passage, wait for more of your minions, or some other method that could be only devised by the superior intellect of a true dragon. How do you wish to act?

Engashez by Zin |

"I can use a simple spell to make a noise over at that end." Engashez points to the far entrance to this section of tunnels. "Maybe even use a scroll to add an image to the noise if we think it's needed. That should draw their attention to that end, and we can then ambush them from behind."
She has a scroll of minor image, and the ghost sound cantrip. At her level, ghost sound can make sound as loud as the equivalent of 16 humans.

GM Blazej |

Both of those strategies would likely to be effective. I'll leave it to Engashez and the group which of the illusions to use (if not both).
Right now the plan is to place an auditory (and maybe also a visible) illusion at the other entrance. Fazgyn can invisibly approach from any direction while the rest of the party either holds back or approaches closer.

![]() |

Vanarog peaks over the stone wall and eyes up the creatures. Vanarog must do everything himself. Die of old age by time these other Dragons move! He kneels down and traces a magical sigil into the floor, smiles menacingly, then retreats back out to the others.
"I have laid a powerful magical trap of lightning. Do NOT step on it! Lure out these pathetic creatures into it then we slay them!"
He rubs his tiny claws together in excitement.
Trap Rune (Sp) As a standard action, Varanog can sketch a single, nearly invisible magical rune on any 5-foot-square solid surface. When Varanog creates a rune, pick one of the following energy types: acid, cold, electricity, or fire. While the rune is active, the next creature other than Varanog who steps on or touches the rune's area causes the rune to explode. The rune's explosion deals 1d8+4 points of energy damage to anything in its square (DC 15 Reflex half). The rune is considered a magical trap for the purpose of perceiving it or disabling it. The DC for both Perception and Disable Device checks is the same as the Reflex saving throw to halve the damage. Varanog can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + his Charisma modifier. Each rune lasts for 24 hours or until discharged.

Athrax by Poblano |

Athrax looks down the tunnel and guessing from the explanations coming from the group he thinks he has an idea but holds back thinking he best prepare himself for the impending battle he gulps down his Extract of Bombers eye

Engashez by Zin |

Engashez looks at Vanarog with ire. "That... was where we were supposed to sneak up on them from. Very well. Back up, then, if we're going to draw them out this way instead."
Once Vanarog has backed out of the way, and the other kobolds are ready for their ambush, she reads off her scroll of minor image. The entire party appears in front of them in perfect duplicate! Engashez has them enter the small tunnels walking right over Vanarog's glyph; the illusory party grumbles and gripes among themselves, making quite a bit of noise as they round the bend--almost all of the illusory bickering appears to be directed to and from the illusory Vanarog.
Once the illusion is deep enough in the tunnels and has been seen, she has the illusory party 'notice' the ambushers, and hastily scramble over each other, rushing back over Vanarog's glyph to retreat back to the tunnels where the real party waits in ambush.
I've placed Engashez where she has a good view into the tunnel to direct the illusion. She'll have her sling drawn and is ready to begin a performance once the glyph goes off. I think her position is good vis a vis the magnetic wall, but please adjust her to just outside the area of effect if I've misjudged that.

Sedoriku's Pregen of the Month |

Pethjun's eyes light up at the sight of the scroll and suggestion of a sound making spell. She stops and thinks for a moment, not noticing the kobold already casting the spell and starting to send them off down the tunnel. Pethjun gives a low, but sharp hissing noise at Engashez. "That's a good idea, but we should use the sound making magic too! If we back up to the fire room and place the images over the trapped wall, we might be able to draw a few into the trap itself! Just hold off on sending them into the room, or let's wait further back and let the trap do more work for us!"

Engashez by Zin |

Minor image includes sound; it doesn't require ghost sound to operate. Also, to make sure that everyone can contribute, I was careful to say that Engashez only cast the spell once the kobolds "are ready for their ambush." No need to rush any reaction to the spell; it's assumed to only be cast once everyone has stated where they want to start and what they want to do.

GM Blazej |

I've moved Vanarog back out of the cave and adjusted the party position to work better for the ambush.
As the illusions move in and get in sight, you know that the enemies have taken the bait as you hear their excited hoots of battle as well as, unexpectedly, the sounds of loading crossbows right in front of yourselves.
As the illusion retreats the pale folk make chase straight into Vanarog's trap! The explosion of electricity and his call of pain interrupt a battle cry and truly begins this fight!
