As the thunderstone landed at her feet, Najara gasped and then reflexively turned her head away from the imminent blast. The explosion momentarily dazed the inquisitor, leaving her with a loud and constant ringing in her ears.

Still thinking about what to do now that I am deafened :( Better me than Shix, hopefully! Will post again later today.

A deafened creature, in addition to the obvious effects, takes a –4 penalty on initiative and has a 20% chance to miscast and lose any spell with a verbal component that it tries to cast.

Still reeling from the sonic blast, Najara glances skyward with a prayer upon her lips. She beseeches Abadar for his divine justice and pronounces judgment upon his foes. And then the inquisitor takes aim with her crossbow and fires just before sprinting off to meet them head on.

Activating Judgement: Justice and then shooting at Jesse. Then moving south as much as possible to close into melee range. I think I can make it all the way to the split between those two logs.
1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 2 + 1 = 21 Attack.
1d8 ⇒ 5 Damage.


The deafened inquisitor does not hear the profanity that escapes Jesse's mouth when her crossbow bolt strikes him. She sprints down the path and reaches the gap between the fallen logs.

We're waiting for the gnomes before the bad guys' next turn.

I'm afraid Juwwem missed yesterday's initiative, hopefully he'll be by today.

Concentrating on the bandits in the trees, Vivian is unaware of Kressle's approach. The bandit leader throws a dagger at Vivian which hits her in the neck. Vivian is very badly injured. She takes 8 HP leaving her with 1.

Jesse sees Najara rushing towards him, rises from his crouch, and stabs his short sword at her. Attack 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17 Damage 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6 The bandit times his attack perfectly and his sword plunges into Najara's gut. 6 HP taken, Najara's down to 3

Still uttering a string of expeletives, James draws an arrow from his quiver, knocks it, and sends it flying at the inquisitor who shot him. Attack 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (2) + 2 - 4 = 0 Damage 1d8 ⇒ 6 James is too busy cussing to aim his shots.

Frank jumps down from the stump and runs through the woods towards Shix. He shoots an arrow at the gnome. Attack 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11 Damage 1d8 ⇒ 2 The arrow flies harmlessly over Shix's head.

Map update All PCs get a turn before the next bandit turn. Please reply by this time tomorrow or the bandits will go without you.

Although he could have seen it coming, the moment the fight starts he freezes and doesn't do anything except mutter in the guttural language.

"Fyed hu, hu, hu! Hu vekrd bmayca, E ryja ahuikr uv vekrdehk. Lymshacc uv dra ayndr ec haatat, hud dra vmaadhacc yht ymfyoc cfenmehk fyo uv fydan."

Language(Terran):

"Wait no, no, no! No fight please, I have enough of fighting. Calmness of the earth is needed, not the fleetness and always swirling way of water."

With thunderstones landing near his newfound friends Juwwem realizes he must act. And Najara... oh no poor Najara! Juwwem uses all the speed he can muster to run towards the inquisitor. As he runs through the stream Juwwem sees the blood on the bandits sword and at the same time he knows there's healing magic flowing through his body again.

Seeing the flash of flying steel out of the corner of his eye, Gordom notices the woman who can only possibly be the target of their raid. Yelling as he moves, there is obvious concern in his voice, "Don't you city-girls ever learn how to duck?"

Gordom will step back ten feet to clear his line of sight to Kressle and take aim:

Juwwem is about to run to Najara's aid when he feels something warm and wet on his head. Realizing with horror that it's blood streaming from Vivian's neck, he turns and summons healing energies to aid the rogue. Vivian's healed for six points. She currently has 7!

Gordom's arrow strikes Kressle. "Nice shot, boy," she snears at him.

Gordom is trying to taunt Kressle so she'll pay attention to him and leave Vivian alone.

A little cloud of dust, stirred up by Juwwem's sudden u-turn drifts over the stream of water Juwwem was about to cross. Juwwem's eyes open wide at the sight of Vivian with Kressle's dagger in her neck and with a coarse voice he whispers:

"Ur hu, ur hu! Jejeyh!"

Language(Terran):

"Oh no, oh no! Vivian!

Quicker than before he feels the magical healing energy surge through his body into his hands and with great care he touches Vivian with a healing touch on her arm while at the same time with his other hand he slowly takes the dagger from her neck.

"Oui cruimt ced tufh Secc Jejeyh. Lyh oui rayn sa? Yna oui cdemm eh byeh?"

Language(Terran):

"You should sit down Miss Vivian. Can you hear me? Are you still in pain?"


Nice backtrack, Juwwem. Let's try an Intimidation roll from Gordom to keep Kressle's attention. We need turns for Najara, Vivian, and Shix before the next bandit round, please.

"USELESS PIECE OF GOBLIN SNOUT!" Shix yells as he tosses the bow behind him.

"AND THE BOW IS NONE TOO USEFUL EITHER!" Shix says as he turns to the unlucky man who fired the bow at him. He then conjures up the raw fire within him and launches it at him.

Elemental Ray: ranged touch1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Damage:1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
failure chance: (1 is failure) 1d5 ⇒ 4

After he fires and misses Shix will move 2 spaces diagonally down and left then one space down.


Najara follows Jesse's motion as he draws his blade from her abdomen. She swivels on her hip and raises her knee which connects with the bandit's crotch with enough force to lift him off the ground. Though Najara can't hear what he says, the pained look on Jesse's face is priceless. Jesse took 5 points of non-lethal damage and is Shaken for the next round.

Shix's fire flies through the air without igniting anything. Then he moves closer to Najara.

Vivian is too stunned by the brutality of Kressle's attack to do anything. Sorry you couldn't post. Hope everything's OK with you.

"Let's see how tough you are without your friends, boy," Kressle grins at Gordom. She throws a dagger at Juwwem and says, "Come and get me." Then she falls back into the woods.Attack 1d20 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (10) + 3 - 4 = 9 Damage 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5 The dagger lands in the ground between Juwwem and Vivian.

By the way, this is what Kressle looks like.

Franco picks up the thunderstone as he gets back to his feet. "What's wrong with you people?" He yells as he rushes across the stream. Without waiting for an answer, he tosses the thunderstone so it lands between Frank and Kressle. [ooc]Attack to activate 1d20 + 2 - 2 - 6 ⇒ (5) + 2 - 2 - 6 = -1 The stone lands on a rock and shatters without a bang.

Seeing Franco rushing him, Frank shoots his bow at the shackled bandit. Attack 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19 Damage 1d8 ⇒ 4 The arrow penetrates Franco's chest and he goes down.

Jesse has his blade ready for another strike at Najara. Attack 1d20 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 - 2 = 20 Damage 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6 Jesse can't believe his luck as his blade hits again. Hate to do this, but Crit confirmation 1d20 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 - 2 = 6 Damage 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 Najara crumples to the ground at Jesse's feet. She's at -3 HP

Hearing Kressle calling Gordom out, James shoots at the ranger. Attack 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3 Damage 1d8 ⇒ 1 The arrow finds its target... A random shrub in the woods.

Gordom will make a 5 foot shift to the east and take a shot at the bandit between Franco and Kressle (I think that's Frank).

Relieve shows on Juwwem's face when he sees Vivian back in action and even helping out Najara.

"Fa'mm ryja du veht oui yhudran tnacc E's yvnyet"

"We'll have to find you another dress I'm afraid."

Juwwem once again spins around and he starts to sprint towards Najara who by now has suffered another nasty blow by the bandit she was facing. A feeling of terror takes hold of Juwwem as another woman of their group loses more blood than a normal person should be able to loose without dying. Water splashes as he moves full-speed through the stream and little stones fly around as Juwwem's feet hit them.

OOC:

Ambulance Juwwem runs (4x 20ft should do it) until he ends up next to Najara (north). Healing next round.

Jesse doesn't have long to gloat over Najara's unconscious form as Vivian's arrow knocks him out.

Juwwem runs towards Najara and is about halfway to her location. I'm at work, so I can't update the master map to get a specific location.

We're waiting for Shix before the next bandit turn. Feel free to post something in character about being out of the fight if you want, Najara.

Random thought: You can post "general guidelines" about what your character does if you're not able to post in a combat round. I'll try to incorporate your instructions as well as possible if we hit the deadline. Please post your guidelines to the discussion thread or send me a PM.

Seeing Najara take a sword to the gut didn't sit well with Shix, but that bandits dead now so there's no point in venting on him.

Juwwem finishes his dash to Najara's assistance. She's lost a lot of blood and looks pale, but her breathing's regular.

Shix runs towards the movement... And sees Kressle standing about ten feet away! Scary, but for various reasons sort of a good thing.

Kressle's utters a scathing insult, too bad Shix couldn't hear it, and she tosses a dagger at him. Without looking to see if the dagger hits, she heads south. Attack 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17 Damage 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4 She doesn't see her dagger strike the sorcerer's arm. Shix has taken 4/7 HP

Frank hollers, "Now I'll give you what I gave that snitch Franco!" He shoots at Gordom. Attack 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7 Attack 1d8 ⇒ 2 Frank's arrow lands in the stream.

James sees Juwwem run to Najara and takes a shot at the gnome although the logs hinder his shot. Attack 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (18) + 2 - 4 = 16 Damage 1d8 ⇒ 6 James's arrow hits. Juwwem has taken 6/10 HP

Once again, she proves her value to her comrades, hitting the bandit hard, the arrow burying itself deep in his thigh. Maybe not a fatal wound but maybe enough to make him think twice about shooting at the redhead's friends

Try to get the last bandit, Gordom, I'm quite sure he wounded Juwwem!

Her eyes scans the woods for another potential victim to her new founded prowess with the bow

Hardly feeling the pain caused by the bandit's arrow, Juwwem takes a dives and rolls to a halt next to Najara. Panting he presses his left arm on the ground and touches the dying Najara with his right arm while his voice still sounds like a grinding millstone.

"Po dra bufanc uv dra ayndr, syo ouin pmuut bimca mega sumdah nulgc yht cdnays mega dra nejanc uv dra taab."

Language(Terran):

"By the powers of the earth, may your blood pulse like molten rocks and stream like the rivers of the deep."

Juwwem knows Najara is safe for now and will be able to get up again. With his fear now gone from his system, with a giant leap he jumps up and over the log towards the bandits screaming with anger.

"Oui vuim dreajac! Mufmo drikc! Muydrcusa vemdr! Pa kuha vnus drec funmt!"

Language(Terran):

"You foul thieves! Lowly thugs! Loathsome filth! Be gone from this world!"

He angrily waves his heavy mace as he approaches the bandits in sight and lifts his shield to guard him against their projectiles.

OOC:

Cast CLW on Najara: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Oooh boy! Again a 1! Houserule in effect: Najara heals 4+1=5hp phew!
Acrobatics DC9(1ft up, 5 ft long?): 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (20) - 1 = 19

Vivian's arrow strikes Frank and he's badly injured, but still fighting.

Juwwem casts his healing spell and Najara regains consciousness. Najara has 2 HP and can act this round if she'd like. Love our crazy gnomes. The oracle then leaps over the fallen log and rushes towards the bandits.

Waiting for Najara, Gordom, and Shix before the next bandit turn.

Najara will stand up and move eastward towards the next bandit. Think thats about all I can do.

Gordom fires at a bandit and misses. Najara resolutely moves closer to the banits.

Despite what Vivian said, there are two bandits up in addition to Kressle. Referring to the last map I posted, Frank, the bandit Vivian shot for six points, is 3 squares east and 4 south of Vivian. There is another bandit, James, who has not been injured on a hunting platform 2 squares west of Kressle.

Najara, don't forget you can take a second move action, such as reloading your crossbow, if you're not taking a standard action.

We need a Shix move before the next bandit turn.

Shix ignores the pain of his new knife wound and moves after her.
1 square east then 2 squares southeast.

Once catching sight of her he lets loose an elemental ray of fire.
Elemental Ray1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

But as he raises his arm to aim, he uses his injured one and the pain makes him miss.


@Najara: Oops! Forgot getting up from prone. Oh, well. Free crossbow reload!

"I aint down yet!" Frank yells then shoots at Vivian. He then follows Kressle into the camp. Attack 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13 Damage 1d8 ⇒ 5 The arrow whizzes harmlessly past her head.

James shoots at Gordom. Attack 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20 Damage 1d8 ⇒ 6 James's arrow hits Gordom in the thigh.

Kressle takes a step back and throws her last dagger at Shix. Attack 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10 Damage 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 Kressle's dagger sails past Shix, but she doesn't seem concerned as she's going for her axes.

Once again, I'll hold off on the bandit's next turn until you've all had a chance to post. Don't know about you, but I think this is a suspenseful fight.

Gordom moves 30ft to the space just next to Juwwem

"Time to forget about the small fish..."

Gordom lines a shot up with the source of all the trouble and lets am arrow fly.

Attack roll 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Confirmation roll 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Damage roll 3d8 + 9 ⇒ (7, 7, 8) + 9 = 31


Gordom's arrow flies true to Kressle. I hits her in the chest, penetrates her armor, goes straight through her heart, and punches out her back. Kressle is dead.

The rest of you get a chance to act before the bandits can react to this news. And an "oh, poop" moment... Looking back to see how much damage Kressle had taken before Gordom's uber shot, I found Vivian's hit was the second on Frank. He's out too. Now we just have the bandit in the tree.

Shix will move south 15 feet to take a look to make sure she ain't movin.
Confirming this he turns to the bandit in the tree and launches a ray of fire.
"TAKE THIS YOU DIRTY LONGPIG!!"

Fire at the last remaining bandit then reload.

Between Najara and Shix, the last bandit is spitted and fried. He staggers off the hunting platform and falls to the ground.

With red face and looking like a madman Juwwem grinds to a halt in middle of the defeated bandits. While he walks over the body of the bandit closest to him he looks around angrily to see if there's anyone left who needs to be dealt with but all he sees is some bodies lying around and his own companions. Juwwem exhales heavily and tries to inhale calmly and then quickly checks to see if the bandit really is dead.

OOC:

Perception to perceive stuff: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Heal to check on the bandit and stabilize him if possible: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14

Gordom quickly scans the area to make sure the threat is really over.
Perception check: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

If it is, Gordom will head over to Franco and make sure he's alright. "How are you doing there? That's a pretty nasty wound, but it doesn't seem life threatening"
Heal check to actually make that diagnosis and to do anything if I can:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
"Do you know of anything else we may have missed here? Any bandits still on patrol? A secret stash? Anything?"


Gordom stabilizes Franco's wounds, but he remains unconscious and doesn't answer Gordom's questions. Gordom's assessment is that Franco will require magical healing or overnight rest to regain consciousness.

Jesse, the downed bandit closest to Juwwem, recovers fairly quickly as a lot of the damage he suffered was from Najara's well placed knee. When Najara and Shix watch James fall from the tower, they see he landed very badly and will never get back up. Don't know if I want to see how our gnomish gourmand serves up longpig. In my imagination, I'm hearing the voice of Anthony Hopkins taken up a couple octaves and suggesting fava beans and Chianti.

Kressle will never terrorize anyone again.

We'll wait until someone examines Frank to see how he's doing...

There appears to be a tarp covering some stuff under the hunting platform near the campfire.

Watching the bandit closest to him, Juwwem makes sure he doesn't pull any tricks.

Juwwem moves over to where Kessle's body is and looks for the ring first before examining the rest of her to see if there's anything that might help them.

Searching Kressle's body, Juwwem doesn't find any rings. He does find a pair of masterwork handaxes, a suit of studded leather armor, a potion of Cure Light Wounds, and 85 gold pieces. Kressle is also wearing a stags head pendant like Happs wore.

Disappointed with not finding the Svetlana's ring, Juwwem removes the items of use of Kessle's body, being as respectful as one can be while doing that.

"Alas, there's no ring. Perhaps one of the others has it or it's somewhere in their stash over there. Let's search this place."

Juwwem is about to continue his search but as he steps away from Kessle's body he notices his arm hurts. Ouch, that hurts! he thinks as he clutches his arm.

"Perhaps one or two of us should stay on watch out."
