Be it so known that the bearer of this charter has been charged
by the Swordlords of Restov, acting upon the greater good and
authority vested within them by the office of the Regent of the
Dragonscale Throne, has granted the right of exploration and travel
within the wilderness region known as the Greenbelt. Exploration
should be limited to an area no further than thirty-six miles east and
west and sixty miles south of Oleg’s Trading Post. The carrier of
this charter should also strive against banditry and other unlawful
behavior to be encountered. The punishment for unrepentant banditry
remains, as always, execution by sword or rope. So witnessed on this
24th day of Calistril, under watchful eye of the Lordship of Restov
and authority granted by Lord Noleski Surtova, current Regent of
the Dragonscale Throne.

I am looking for a few good players that are willing to be patient with a new-to-PbP GM looking to cut his teeth on running an online campaign. Currently I have one spot saved for a fellow player and GM that is helping me understand some of the finer points of running a PbP game, leaving 3 to 5 slots open for applicants.

Character creation:

Materials allowed: Paizo products only, no 3rd party.

20 point builds, No stat lower than 8 before racial adjustment.

Races: All Core races. Featured or Uncommon races subject to approval.

Characters: All classes allowed, including ACG. Any ACG class that is approved will have to be rebuilt once the guide is offically released. Hp is max at 1st level, and half+1 every level after that. Archetypes for the most part are allowed, but if you have a question, ask first. I tend to go by PFS restrictions, however there are some things not allowed in PFS that I would allow in game. Again, if in doubt, ask in a PM.

Role: All applicants need to explain how their character intends to function, both in and out of combat. Ultimate Campaign rules will be in effect, and I do intend to use the downtime system for this game. Crafting and professions are encouraged.

Gear: All characters start the game with 150gp for starting gold.

Alignments: No evil, no questions. Any neutral character, especially CN needs to have a strong background reason for being so.

Traits: 2 traits allowed, one must be from the Kingmaker AP. I personally do not use drawbacks, but you may use them if you wish, to add a 3rd trait.

Backgrounds: Please take your time to give a background as to your character, where they are from, how they came to their current occupation and lifestyle, and why the message that they have received from the Swordlords of Restov draws them to Oleg's. As a GM, I personally weight the background of a character more importantly than the crunch.

In Character Sample: Please provide a short to medium length In character narrative for your character.

Recruitment for this game will open today, and I plan to close it on the 8th of August. Any submissions need to be in at that time. I understand if you do not wish to make an alias before being selected, just please I ask that I can read and understand them. My first time doing this, so I expect to make a misstep or two. Please be patient with me, and I will be willing to work with you.

Note: I am not beholden to a perfectly balanced party. If there is a group of applicants that are strong, and I feel would make a good team together, I will go with my gut, over taking a rigidly balanced team.

I think I will peruse the players guide and see if anything strikes my fancy. I shall post more when a concept has formed.

I am indeed interested! I'm interested in playing a paladin/Aldori Swordlord.

In Combat focus: Dextrous fighting mixed with intimidation

Out of Combat focus: Negotiation and leadership.

A friend and I just made characters for a kingmaker game that we didn't get into. I've gone ahead and updated the sheet to fit your rules. :)

I'll be hitting you up with some questions for minor things to make sure you're okay with them!

In Combat Goal: Protect her allies. Sword and Shield style fighting.
Out of Combat Goal: Map as much of the land as she can, bring justice and valor to the River Kingdoms once more. Become a true hero. Become a paladin in name and act, if not in class.

Personality:
Ary is self-assured, and while aware of her shortcomings, she follows the path of sacrifice and valor, as would be expected of her as a worshipper of Iomedae. She seeks to find the reason for conflict before stepping into it, but won't hesitate to defend any she perceives as innocent, even risking herself to do so. Most importantly, she recognizes that those who are capable of sin are also capable of regret, and of seeking forgiveness.

Ary is a guardian first and foremost. Sure, she has a shiny longsword to hit enemies with, but her real goal is to protect her friends and allies in combat. She'll be using a sword and shield in combat, along with a specific trait to make her shield something special to start.

Background:
Ary Bishop was born to a tiny homestead amongst the stolen kingdoms, she grew to the age of 8 learning how to hunt alongside her father, and taming the land for the various crops that her family could manage.
As was the case with dozens of other families, one day bandits decided it was time to take advantage of the local populace. Ary's father set her upon their only horse and ushered her away before the thieves could close in, allowing her to ride to safety, along the route she had learned to follow for the sake of trade. This resulted in her survival, though she never learned what became of her parents.

Now ostensibly an orphan, Ary tried to raise herself on the streets, but always managed to make it to listen to the stories told by the prophet on the corner, not a doomsday crier, but instead a man well-versed in the religious stories, especially of the good and noble gods. Ary was fascinated by the Eleven Miraculous Acts of Iomedae. Not only had Iomedae stood against impossible odds, but she had thrived against them.

The story of the true hero's rise to greatness flavored everything that Ary did from then on, seeking to become a hero of the common people so that one day she too could claim greatness. After hearing the final story of Iomedae, she approached the prophet and was directed to the nearest church where she trained to hopefully one day become a paladin.

Now, trained in the arts best suited to protecting others, taught to craft implements designed for the same, Ary has been chosen for her unique skills amongst the church. She is being sent back into her homeland to help retake the lands from chaos, and tame the wilds in the name of the Goddess of Valor. She readily answers the call as one of Iomedae's chosen.

Appearance:
Ary is large amongst the human population, coming in at six feet, and weighing in at 180 pounds. She has bright blonde hair and deep brown eyes. At the age of nineteen, she's still youthful enough to carry her naivete with her. She carries a longsword and wields a small oddly-green-tinged steel shield on the arm opposite. Iomedae's crest is visible on the shield, with the light refracted by the sword in the symbol growing outwards into raised spikes. She dresses in studded leather which allows her to retain much of her mobility in the wilds. Her horse, a palomino daughter of her father's horse is never far away, and carry's much of her supplies, including several extra water skins, her bedding, as well as her rope and tent. She maintains several trail rations, and a mapmaker's kit in her backpack and belt pouches. While she typically keeps the long sword sheathed at her side, the sword never leaves her arm unless she is entirely at rest.

Sample RP:
((A minor interplay between Robin's first post, adn my own.))Robin sat outside the church gently strumming her Guzheng as she waited, lost in thought. "Are churches truly accepting of any that claim to want help? Seems foolish. She spoke to herself, as she had grown used to with the new surrounding. "I'm sure they have good reason." She nodded, this was her family now she had to trust them.

"Not any," came the resonant, husky voice of Ary, a smile playing across her lips. "The upper order of the church is able to see through the subtle trickeries of those who don't truly seek aid but only to spread dissent or harm. Regardless, if there is doubt, it is better to reach out with a hand than to raise a sword, wouldn't you agree?"
Ary stretched out her sword arm to the newcomer, offering her hand. "My name's Ary Bishop. A pleasure to meet you." She gave the musical instrument a slightly dubious look, "And I have no idea what that is, but it's very pretty."

I am interested in trying this out. I have not played in a pbp game before but I DM a biweekly game and would love to be on the other side of the "screen" so to speak. It is too late for a full PC roll up right now but I would probably play an elvish druid pursuing "the brightening" but not quite sure of his path yet. I would have a pet, be focused on survival skills, and put the interests of "the natural world" very high on my priorities.

Reading back over that it seems fairly generic, but I do find an appeal to many of the classic fantasy tropes.

As time permits at work tomorrow I will look back in on this and think more on a character.

Dark Archive

Definitely interested. I will get something posted soon, but I am thinking either a druid or maybe the ACG's shaman as either would be something new for me.

Edit: oops, looks like someone is already looking at going the druid route, I will maybe look into an arcane controller type then (sorcerer or witch maybe)

Submit what you want to play. I would rather you play something that you want to play, and have good character and background and story element, than just trying to "fill a role" in the party.

For transparency, I'm the one mentioned above. This is the character. Orc Tetori monk.

CUDDLES IS HERE! CUDDLES LOVES WANDERINGS AND FINDINGS! AND HUGS! HUGS BE LOST ART. HUGS BE MOST POWERFUL FORCE IN MILTICUR-- MULTIPLUER-- WORLD! HUGS SOLVE ALL PROBLEM. CUDDLES SHOW
*bone-crunching, lung-bursting hug*
SEE! FEEL BETER! YOU SHOULD NOT WOBBLE SO. YOU DRUNK? CUDDLES TRY GET DRUNK ONCE. SHERRIFF LEAD HIM TO SMELLY OLD MAN. CUDDLES NOT UNDERSTAND WHY EVERYONE WANT SMELLY OLD MAN ALL THE TIME, BUT HE OK. NOT UNDERSTAND LOTS.

background/appearance/personality:
The Orc called "Cuddles" has very little history. Surprisingly little. He wandereds into town one day looking for a girl named Lucy. Who Lucy is or was has never been discovered. At first noone even dared approach him. The reason? His size.
Cuddles is massive. If one does not look closely, he is easy to mistake for a full blooded Giant. He stands well over 7 feet tall and weighs just over 300 pounds, most of it solid muscle. He can lift up to 400 pounds at a time without any kind of assistance.

Being able to essentially out-work a horse made him instant friends with the local warehouse types and construction foremen. He had zero trouble finding employment handling cargo and working heavy labor. There was one problem, however.

Cuddles is... not smart. Perhaps in an effort to balance his overpowering physical attributes, nature has stolen his wits. While he picks up on simple tasks easy enough, he rarely communicates complicated concepts and rarely talks in more than a simple sentence. His only true area of expertise is the art of the hug, which he demonstrates on anyone and everyone with liberality.

There are few clues to Lucy's identity. The only one readily given by cuddles is that she taught Cuddles how to hug. She also is described as being tiny to Cuddles (which isn't hard) and very kind. The only physical evidence that she may have existed is a fine scarf sized for a halfling child worth several gold pieces that he keeps safe on his person at all times. Not much to go on.

Edit: He still needs stated out for this campaign. That will happen tomorrow.

CUDDLES!!!! Alright, I need in on this :D

Dotting so hard.

I want to submit Ruki Tsune. Kitsune Trickster Rogue

Lots of talking, lots of bluff, disguise galore

Eventually Spy Master PrC

I'm trying to wrap my head around an aspiring brewmaster. Human? Dwarf? The class is also a little troublesome. Ranger? Inquisitor of Cayden? Rogue? I'll work it out and post the crunch and fluff later today! :)

an aid other masster summoner halfling.

I'd like to throw a Female Ulfen Barbarian into the mixture...

Character:

Looks:
A Native of the lands of the Linnorm, Sigrid Trollsblud is a fierce warrior and mercenary. She is 19 years old, 6 feet tall, 190 pounds, heavily muscled, and has a stocky frame. She is fairly attractive, with blonde hair, blue eyes, a pert nose, and white skin. She favors the great-axe, and carries two throwing axes in her belt.

Personality and motivation:
Sigrid is young, looking for adventure and experience. She was drawn to this venture because she views it as a place to grow and learn, both from her own adventures, and working with others. Also, her family is poor, and thus she wants to gain money to improve their life. Her father was lost at sea soon after she was born, and she hopes to find word of him some day, though she knows this isn't likely. She is violent, but good natured, and a little naive. Sigrid is a young character, and thus doesn't have a huge backstory. I intend to use this as an opportunity to play a youth, my own bildungsroman...I see this character as being NG-CG but more likely CG.
Tactical role:

Hit it with axe. Hard. Drink beer. Repeat
Character oddity:
Sigrid has worked as a fur-trapper, and has ranks in craft:trap.
Traits: Charming...(Just because)...Pioneer (+1 Survival)Campaign trait

RP sample:

-You see a tall, clearly Ulfen woman standing by the fire. Her braids are tied around her head, and she leans on an enormous great axe, which stands head down. She peers intensely into the fire, and you notice that despite her size, the woman is still a youth.

-What brought her here, to these lands...She asked herself. What indeed? The lands of Brevoy were not her native lands, and her thick accent gave away her native tongue. The weather was warmer here, but the trees were less green. She wondered about this. She had many questions, and nobody to ask them to.

-Her dream was of coins, How she would find a treasure and bring it home to her mother. How she would buy a meadhouse and serve strong drinks to great warriors, and invite the greatest Skalds and Bards to recite the great sagas of her people...How strange it was to be a widow's daughter in a culture of warriors and raiders...

-Dammen bring me Beer, ja? She suddenly shouted to the barmaid, a woman who barely came up to her breast...funny that. She'd seen elves as tall as her, but few woman in these lands seemed as tall as the people from her homeland...

-The tavern was full of other adventurers, the strange collection of men and women from all the lands, all races, colors, and tongues. But the majority were the Erastil Worshippers, with bow and leather armor. Sigrid had seen the skill of the local archers, and was quite impressed. She'd also won a few coins throwing her deadly axes, or as she called them "Thor and Odin"...a few single men even proposed marriage but she wasn't going to settle down in this far off land...certainly not..
.

Augrok Manyteeth, Bear Shaman. His role would undoubtedly be the Warden.

Background:
Everyone had a chosen calling. Some gave in to the ease with which they acquired a skill and continued to develop it to the heights of mastery, while others in some cases literally fell into their calling. In Augrok's case, it was his dissatisfaction with the sedentary life, despite being on the edge of the Stolen Lands. The walls and hearth of the homesteads were comforting at times, but they more often than not were a temporary solace for him. He found more peace out among the green of the trees and earth, nature unrestricted and untamed.

Hunting and trapping were things that took him out into that green wilderness, and he embraced it wholly. His trips took him longer and farther more and more often until he was simply carting his spoils towards a drop-off point, rather than returning to the homesteads. He saw no problem with this. He was only seen only a few times a season, still welcomed back as the family he was. When he returned one season with a bear cub gamboling along behind him, eyebrows were raised, but they were expecting it.

When the charter came along, they held onto it for him, knowing that it was something that would interest him, journeying further into lands unexplored and ruled as nature would have it. Sure, the charter likely carried some requirements and payments, but for the chance to explore, that was something he could live with.

Narrative Sample:
The trading post was not hard to find. That it was on the edge of the unclaimed, unexplored area was something that stayed in his mind. Out there was a place that he wanted to explore, and the charter was just an excuse to do so. The bear that paced by his side as he walked into the trading post was what drew eyes to him. Those that were unfamiliar with the sight gave him a wider berth than others, who simply passed by with a fair respect for the bear, aware of what it was capable of.

The Trading Post proper was what he was headed towards, to see what the details of this charter were, and to check to see what value he could get on the couple of skins and packages of meat that he had obtained on the way here. There was a packet of papers with the charter, letters of endorsement from the head of the homestead, as well as a couple from other notable persons that knew of him and had chosen to vouch for him. As he entered the trading post, he was glad that it was a fairly open place, rather than somewhere that would have required him to tell Maw to remain outside. Reflexively, he reached beside him to redirect the bear's wandering nose, knowing that the sweets that he could smell were distracting.

"Later", he rumbled, looking down at the large head of his companion, sparing him a glance before casting about for the headman. "Business first."

Hello GM.

I've a Ifrit Oracle concept. How do you feel about that race? I can change it to human if you think that this race isn't good.

I have an idea for a Human Arcanist born into House Garess. He is an architect and planner of both magic and buildings. He'd be Lawful Good and pay homage to a small selection of gods being Abadar, as patron of cities, Bharnarol, empyreal lord of invention, and Eldas, empyreal lord of architecture.

I do have some questions: Would you allow adding an archetype once the ACG is released, if so desired?

Would you allow the character to modify spells a bit, which I think is in spirit of the Arcanist. Think making marble walls with Wall of Stone by changing the material component from a small block of granite to a small block of marble.

EDIT: He'd be going for Magister or Treasurer

I'd like to apply Lucius Baradain, who is a neutral good sword and board male human fighter. His background fits well with anyone who takes some sort of background connection with the Lebeda household, although he himself is not of the royal households.

In combat, Lucius will be a front-line combatant and a highly capable tank if I can use the term. Outside of combat, he'll serve as muscle to back up any failed diplomatic attempts, and he has an education in engineering... which I'd dovetail into his likely role as General for the purpose of Kingdom building leadership roles, since his background indicates and education in the ways of war.

I'll provide the narrative later today, but here is the stat crunch and his background/description.

Character Sheet

Description:
Lucius is quite a and handsome looking young man. His hair is a tussled dirty blond, and his eyes are a pale grayish blue due to his mother's Ulfen descent. Being somewhat vain in nature, Lucius takes care of his appearance, keeping his face closely shaved and his stylish clothing clean. Lucius is extremely athletic, possessing a tall, lean and muscular physique. His expression is often mischievous, but at the same time calculating and shrewd.

Physical Traits
Height: 6'1
Weight: 172 lbs
Hair: Sandy Blond
Eyes: Brown

Reference image

Personality:
Lucius is quite intelligent and extremely athletic, and sometimes overly cocky. He tends to believe in himself, sometimes beyond his ability. This extreme overconfidence tends to grate on people, though his easy-going disposition and sense of humor leaves him not without his charm.

Background:
Lucius grew up in Restov, the youngest son of Theodric Baradain, a loyal soldier in the employment of the Lebeda household. Lucius grew up in Silverhall with this parents, and led a fairly simply childhood. Baron Lebeda recognized the intelligence and talents of the young Baradain boy, and paid for Lucius to be trained in the sword and the art of war in Restov. His natural gifts apparent to his masters, Lucius excelled in his study of engineering and his training with the blade.

When he was sixteen and finished his studies, he came home and found employment serving under his father for the Lebeda household. By this time, Baron Lebeda had died, and Dame Sarrona Lebeda was regent while the Baron's eldest son Lander was still a minor. Lucius being of an age with Lander became fast friends with the future Baron, and found himself spending time on Royal Hunting expeditions with Lander, and other such privileged activities.

Worried that his boy might be getting soft by spending too much time in the court and gaining considerably more influence than himself, Theodric volunteered Lucius for the assignment of traveling to the River Kingdoms to investigate issues with banditry on behalf of the Baradain household. Though unhappy at the prospect of leaving his friends and family, Lucius begrudgingly decided to take on the task.

The Ifrit race is fine. Most of the planetouched races are going to be allowed, as are things like orcs and such.

Also a couple of things that I left off. I would like to have 1 post a day, and if you are going to need to be absent for any reason, let me know ahead of time and I am more than willing to work with people.

@GM
Hope Kitsune is okay for the game :) not sure how much a sneak is needed though. not for magical traps unfortunately, just normal ones at start. will dip into a class other than rogue to get trap finding :P

@seth86:

Kitsune should be ok, they are going to open that race up to PFS on the 14th, so I will allow it.

Small Intro:

Yuki looked around the corner, as she suspected, guards.
Well, guess that put a stop to that plan... she laughed.
No. That will not do. As she thought of a new plan, she smirked.
Moments later she walks out, complete a new person. The guards didn't look twice
Why would they, she was one of them. Well, atleast for now.
With that she ducked into the room and grabbed some of the small pieces of food they hid
No way a few guards will stop her from going hungry...

You there, what do you think you are doing?!

Drat... spotted... think fast Yuki, think fast!
What does it look like i'm doing? I'm chekking the food for infestation!

The guard paused a second, then looks at her curiously, shrugs then walks off
With that she bolted, just seconds before cries rang out about a thief.
Good thing she didn't look herself when she did it, noone will find her, maybe the poor recruit she met
earlier that day, but right now its time to eat. She will make it up to him in the morning

I present my submission:

Arias "Ari" Urqual, devotee of Cayden Cailean, and aspiring brewer. The son of a farmer and his wife, the young Arias dared to dream and befriended Haino, a young dwarf from Brunderton. Together they made plans to acquire the necessary funds to start a brewery and mix the best of both worlds: human ingenuinty and dwarven craftsmanship. Alas, his friend was maimed during a bandit raid, losing a leg and a hand, and died shortly after. The dwarf's dreams died with the loss of his limbs, but Arias vowed he'd make their dream happen and dedicate its success to his friend: Haino Pilsner.

But between dream and reality stands a rather sizable hurdle: Arias lacked the financial means to get his brewery going and more importantly, the death of his friend required revenge. Haino was but one of many to suffer from the curse of banditry and the Rostlanders yearned for peace and quiet. Joining make-shift militias who ventured out to attack brigands and bandits isn't enough and Arias knows it. The root needs to be found and pulled out, lest the garden be overgrown by weeds. A call to arms has been issued by the swordlords of Rostland and Arias wants to answer it.

The fact that it might finance his dream while putting to rest his past only makes his desire burn ever stronger to embrace the adventurer lifestyle.

Personality: Positive and energetic are the keywords when describing Arias. He wants to embrace life, knowing how fleeting it can be. When encountering those who embrace what he despises (oppression, tyranny, thievery, thuggism, banditry and those who waste good beer) his naturally cheerful demeanor turns into grim determination. Like most Brevoyans, he's open to other cultures and races, knowing that diversity is not a weakness but a strength.

Role: A support combatant with spells that heal and buff his teammates. His skillset lets him survive in the wilds, support his group with knowledge on beasts and creatures they'll encounter and once he puts his hands on some gold, make sure they'll be drinking the finest ale in all of Avistan. With levels he'll be able to make a few surgical strikes a day to ensure victory, while aiding his group with more powerful magics to keep them out of harms way.

Sample roleplay:
Adrenaline pulsed through his veins. The whistling sound of the shaft that had flown over his shoulder, missing his neck by a hair, resounded in his head a thousand times as he sat down on the moss-covered remains of a fallen tree to catch his breath. The combat had been short, intense and very messy. Very messy. They had made their way through the untamed wilds of the Stolen Lands when a male voice, crackling with uncertainty - a sign that the lad knew he wasn't doing the right thing, had demanded they throw down their gold and return wherever they had come from. The shadowy forest had hidden the bandit from their sight, but he was up ahead in one of the thick old oaks. A sliver of light carved a burning half-moon on the forest floor and Arias had stared down at it, wondering if throwing down his valuable possessions was the wise decision. The decision wasn't his to make. Next to him temper flared and a conflagration of arcane magicks roared from the palms of his companion. A terrible scream, followed by a sickening thunk as a scorched body hit the floor. What happened next was a blur: light flared around him as arcane and divine powers were called upon. Arrows, javelins and even a sling bullet were exchanged between the two parties. An arrow had grazed his knee, but adrenaline had kept him going on. The lads didn't stand a chance. Armed with feeble bows, badly fletched arrows and swords so blunt they were beyond repair: this would be a slaughter.

And it had been. The ravaged remains of five young bandits littered the damp earth. They had done the right thing, but the victory did not taste sweet. Five dreams had tumbled down a hill, dragging those of others with them until the disaster had culminated in the slaughter of these young men. No, civilization demanded that these lands were tamed so that it could give young men and women opportunities to make a living, to reach for their dreams. Don't let that thought go, Ari, because more bodies will follow. More bodies will follow.

Gear: Got his basic equipment (armor, weapons), but need to fill out the non-combat stuff!

This effect occurs automatically as soon as it applies. These rounds do not need to be consecutive.

Go ahead and work up the submission. Not familiar with the Samsarans, but I would be interested to see it together. I may ask you to change race, but I would like to see it first.

Oh goodness, I'm cheering for Cuddles. It's fine if I don't make it, but I really really really hope Cuddles does.

How would you rule on my questions posted above GM Angel?

I really like Samsaran for the reincarnation stuff. The current idea being a Paladin in the Mwangi Expanse before dying and ending up in Restov.

CUDDLES APPRECIATE SENTIMENT! YOU KIND AND NICE LITTLE LIGHT BALL.

Though I'm the one mentioned above as helping GM Angel out, so I think your wish is already granted.

Wow, missed that sorry, its been hectic. Family moving and short handed at the office. Yes, when ACG is released, we can rebuild your character, but not during a combat if that is in place.

So far as reskinning an effect like marble for a wall of stone, I do not mind that at all. Though I will use the baseline of a spell for determining things like hardness and such.

No problem, figured you'd missed it.

As for the reskinned spells, I understand that. My idea is mostly to just toy with the odds and ends without changing power levels because then they become new spells. In case of the Wall of Stone the marble walls would be for construction purposes.

Seems i already made him about 2 years ago.... just needed to change the flavor of the campaign up a bit.

rping:

Borem looks over the land one last time as he approaches the outpost, looks down to his companion of many years.

"Well Tavo looks like out adventurer is going to start soon"

The wolf like beast Borem rides on makes a chuffing sound in amusement.

"oh don't laugh at me, this is out chance to do something bigger then scaring off the odd bandit or two."

The wolf rolls its eyes at the comment. Borem pats its head as they end the travel, to start an adventurer.

Liberty's Edge

I'd love to play in a Kingmaker campaign, but it looks like you have an awful lot of folks already submitting characters.

Fair warning...Kingmaker is very sandbox. It's not the sort of PbP I'd want to cut my teeth on. That said, there are ways to make it work...you need players that will seriously take the ball and run with it. I can definitely be that sort of player. It looks like Cuddles is exactly the kind of help you need...an assertive character, with a creative player behind him. If all this makes sense to you, I'll submit a character.

Right now, I run three games, and the one thing that's most detrimental to a game that has a GM that's dedicated is players that won't grab the ball and make that run...of course, a GM that drops the ball equals a dead campaign. :p

For whatever reason I am drawing a blank. Maybe some other time. Withdrawing.

I have a character concept mostly sketched out, but her best stat is Dexterity (18), which tends to favor marshal, royal enforcer, or spymaster, none of which really mesh with the character concept. But a couple points of Loyalty shouldn't really affect the kingdom that much if I aimed for General (CHA 14) instead, should it?

Also, as a question for GM Angel: Are you planning to use the optional Leadership Role Skills from the Optional Kingdom Rules section of UC?

I have a couple of characters I've made for Kingmaker recruitments over the years - an inquisitor of Erastil, a two-weapon fighter and bodyguard of house Lebeda, a bookish transmuter wizard, and an archaeologist bard. The big question is, what do I want to try out here... :/

oh sorry, this is pavaan's master summoner halfling

This is a character I made for a Kingmaker campaignwhose GM seems to ahve vanished. While currently evil, I think his backstory would make a justifiable (and functional and playable) chaotic neutral as well.

On second thought, I'll withdraw. I want to play, but I'm not posting as much as I used to and I'm in a few games already. Cheers and good luck!

Oh derp, RP sample:
Malak walked into the bar. It's not as though the place was good or exciting or special, but it was near his home and he didn't want to cook. His life had been kind of boring lately, and had it not been too much trouble he would have probably gone to back to the wilds. His life was a steady stream of paycheck to paycheck for whatever odd job he could get someone to pay him for.

A man wearing a hood approached Malak's table. Malak sighed and shook his head. This must be a clueless noble. This wasn't the kind of bar where anyone cared what business the other patrons were doing as long as they didn't start to fight, and if he were really so high-profile that his face might be recognized anywhere then he had access to magical disguises or at least a couple of servants. These kinds of people always paid well for fairly-low risk stuff, however so Malak decided to listen anyway.

Can I help you, milord? It was vague enough that Malak's guess was about 50/50, but still specific enough that the man started.

I suppose you, er, seem the sort who doesn't mind working for a living? The sort of work you don't like to tell your friends about?

Do you see any friends here?

No, I don't suppose I tell too many people what I do to get my mead and soup. What do you have in mind?

The man slid Malak an envelope containing a gold piece and a letter. The letter said to beat up, but not kill, a few noble brats. Malak figured it was probably some dispute over women or somesuch nonsense. He agreed immediately.

Three days later Malak was in jail, because there was another man with the nobles and he ended up dead. A man came in wearing well-made but simple clothes, a non-ceremonial but still masterfully made sword hanging at his side, and walking with extreme confidence. This was a noble who knew what he was doing.

You have taken an asset from our family. You will now work to repay us. The man was cold, but clearly commanding. [b]You will be released. You will go to the Stolen Lands to fulfill this exploration charter. Upon the fulfillment of the charter, you will be sent further instructions. You will do this because our asset was valuable and you will repay us in equal value.

As clueless as the young nobles were, the competent ones were never to be trifled with, so Malak agreed. He decided to go to this "Olegg's" and work on behalf of who he later learned was House Medvyed.

Malak is a capable combatant and explorer. Out of combat he would be a very good Warden, and he intends to make a living of training the kingdom's animals and dealing with wild animals.

Yes, I will be using leadership roles. I will go into a bit more of the kingdom building aspects later on, but for the most part I am going to be using UC for the basis of the kingdom building. If the group has optional rules that they want to use, I would be open to hearing out what they want.

LOOKS LIKE CUDDLES NEED HELP TO INTIMATE PEOPLE. CUDDLES WORK SO HARD TO NOT SCARE LITTLE PEOPLE, BUT NOW IS EXPECTED TO BE SCARY! ADVENTURING IS SO CONFUSED ME.

Cuddles needs some dwarven ale to get him in the right mood!

CUDDLES HAS CUP! ONE -- ONE -- MINUTE.. Cuddles digs into the massive burlap sack that serves as his backpack and procuces a "mug" that really should qualify as a small barrel with a handle. He presents it with a crooked toothed smile.

Dot for interest.

Oh i might have some Luglurch ale
(halfling ale)
slight of hand: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22
using the well prepared halfing feat to see if i have it... all for fun dc is 11 for that check
pulls out a gallon of halfling ale from wolfs saddle bags.
Here you go here is a gallon of it, drink up cuddles

Cuddles pours the full gallon into his "cup" and crouches at a table. Normal chairs won't hold him. He sips on the ale in an exaggerated show of politeness, all the while looking like a child who is doing their best to mind themselves.

You have very good manners, Cuddles.

LUCY ALWAYS SAY MANNERS IMPORTANT!

Anyway, I don't want to clog up recruitment with pre-selection rp. It's isn't polite. :)
