Pulling out his wand, the halfling points it at the harpy. With a few words it discharges it gold and silver missiles which streak at the creature in the large fireplace. It shrieks momentarily as the spell slams into it, but the disruption is not enough to stifle its song. (Cast magic missile from wand; Damage 2d4+2=9hp; Harpy makes Concentration check to maintain her song)
"Shhh!" Zo reprimands Rhade and Iggie crossly, before returning her attention to the lovely sound.
Father Meghdad moves past the disabled harpy and comes around the table just in front of Ignacious, holding his shield and scimitar up, "Stay behind me sir, you don't want to get too close to those sharp claws!" (Move action; ready attack if harpy moves into range)
Hurt by the spell and seeing her sister drop lifeless to the ground on the far side of the room, the sole remaining harpy seizes her chance and climbs up the chimney, her claws scraping the brick. Showers of mortar and brick rain down into the now empty fireplace, ricocheting off the walls.
Combat is over. The room has not been searched. It seems to contain the large table set for a dinner with human skeletons dressed in fancy, if old-fashioned clothing. In front of each of the twelve chairs sits a golden dinner plate, accompanied by a dusty glass goblet and dull silverware. The large fireplace in the north of the room now seems empty.
Zo
Coming to herself, Zo quickly glances around the room, surveying the gory scene with a faint blush of chagrin at having been taken in. Swallowing her embarrassment, however, she gives Gregori a quick nod and begins to examine her surroundings, paying particular attention to the place settings and the skeletons around the table.
Perception (search for traps) (1d20+7=9)
However, she still seems preoccupied by her recent ordeal, glancing over her shoulder at the chimney -- and at the others.
Hope you roll better than I did, Rhade!
DM BrOp - Kill Bargle!
Ignacious scans the room for a few moments, concentrating while he weaves his spell.
Zo takes a look at the table and its settings, paying particular attention to the skeletons. Strangely, it is the plates that catch her attention.
Zo
Zo quickly glances around to make sure no one (mainly Iggie) is approaching the table. "No wonder the kobolds didn't loot this room," she says. "No one touch the place settings. These plates are covered in yellow mold -- it's deadly."
Cordelia Crichton
Cordelia stops her hand as it begins reaching for the place settings. "Thank You Zo. That would not have been a pleasant experience I am sure. If there is nothing else of interest in here, then I suggest we move on before her," she points towards the corpse, "friend returns, possibly with reinforcements."
"Does she have anything of interest on her perchance before we go?"
Rhade
The Father catches his breath and nods to the paladin. "Yes, Gregori. I'm just not used to fighting on the front lines, and I am not as young as I used to be."
"What?" Rhade snaps out of his fugue.
Takes a good look around."Where did that come from?" he asks pointing at the corpse.
DM BrOp - Kill Bargle!
After hearing Zo's warning Rhade steers clear of the table but makes quick sweep of the area to see if there's anything else of interest.
Perception check: 16+9 for a total of 25, sorry for the delay!
Rhade notices that a few of the bricks in the back of the fireplace look like they've been removed lately. Looking up he sees the chimney climb up for about 20 feet before hitting the open air. It is choked with debris and protruding stonework from the collapsed upper floor. The harpy must have really squeezed itself through to get past.

"Exactly how many of those singing fiends were there?" he asks the others curiously openly wincing as he briefly glances up the chimney.
"That must have hurt," he tells noone in particular as he looks for the exits from the chamber.
Zo
Zo takes a cursory glance at the skeletons out of curiosity, being careful not to disturb the plates, to see if there are any indications of how they died.
Then she moves quietly toward the eastern doors. Stealth (1d20+12=18) The battle against the harpies created a lot of ruckus; the kobolds might well have taken the opportunity to escape.
If there are actual doors here, she'll put her ear to the door; if not, she'll just sidle up to the edge of the doorway to listen. Perception (listen) (1d20+6=25)

Zo also needs to make a Heal check to ascertain this. Heal roll 19+0=19. The bones here are from human bodies that have been dead quite some time. You guess these were excavated from a grave, how long ago you can't tell.

There are actually two doors to the east. Zo listens to both of them, but does not hear anything at all.

"Hm." Zo raises an eyebrow. "Interesting interior design choice. These people didn't die here; they were placed here."
Zo
"Well, this way," Zo nods toward the eastern doors, "were the hiding kobolds and a door leading downward, where I believe Bargle lies. However, kobolds might not be known for their wisdom, but even they may well have had sense enough to steal away while we faced the harpies. The other way," she indicates the western doors, "we're not sure what we might find, although I expect a mirror image of the eastern side of the keep. Whether there is another door down, I don't know."
This recap has been brought to you by GenCon and Labor Day weekend. I hope I've remembered the map right. :)

Rhade wrote:"What's this?" Rhade says as he removes a brick from the fireplace...The bricks easily are removed from the back of the fireplace, revealing a small, hollowed-out space containing a small chest. It seems to have a decent lock on it.
"Hey look what I've found!" Rhade lifts the small chest out to show the others.
"Anyone good with locks, hey Zo what do you make of this?" he asks gingerly approaching Zo."Pick up anything Gregori?" he asks as he passes the paladin.

Zo takes the chest from Rhade, glances at the table, then thinks better of it and sits down on the floor to examine it, unrolling a collection of shiny prods and picks from her haversack beside her.

Zo takes the chest from Rhade, glances at the table, then thinks better of it and sits down on the floor to examine it, unrolling a collection of shiny prods and picks from her haversack beside her.
Zo quickly glances over the box, looking for the tell-tale sign of traps or hidden catches. Not finding any, she goes to work on the lock itself, which is quite formidable. After a bit of fiddling, however, there is a satisfying click and the lock opens.
Inside the box you find a number of moldy outfits of the same style the "dinner guests" are wearing. Underneath is a sack with 300 gp, four pairs of turquoise earrings worth 500 gp each (pair), and four unmarked potions which radiate faint conjuration (healing) magic.
Zo
Zo sits back on her heels, regarding the strange contents of the box. "Odd," she remarks. "Has Bargle been exhuming graves? And why? Father, Iggie, Cordelia -- someone want to take a look at these potions?" Still a bit nonplussed by the contents of the chest, she examines its interior more carefully, looking for a false bottom or secret compartment.

She thinks she knows what they are thanks to her connection to Sarenrae, but can't be 100%.
"Well I guess we ought to share out the gold and let Zo and Lady Crichton decide between a potion or the earrings before Ignacious decides for them," Rhade mutters as he moves to keep watch in case something else sneaks up on them.

"Okay looks like our reptilian friends avoided this room, seems our winged minstrels preferred their privacy or maybe they liked to have their dinner delivered so to speak," Rhade quips as he looks towards the others.
"Either we select a door we haven't tried or head back and around to clear this level, any takers?" he asks keeping his voice low so only the others can hear him inside this room and keeping well clear of the table...

"That does sound reasonable. Ignacious with one group, myself with the other. Zo with one, Rhade with the other. And finally Gregori with one group and Father Meghdad with the other. That seems to be a fairly rounded party in each."
She thinks for a second. "How about Gregori, Myself and Zo in one Group. Rhade, Ignacious and The Father in the other?"
