It took me by surprise, but I remembered that not every era of our own history, even under Christendom, had such hangups about bodies and sexuality. So I decided that while the current culture and law of Triskellian and the Church frowns on mixed bathing, and doesn't allow it in the public bathhouses, nobody will care what you do in private places. That mixed communal bathing occurred regularly during the most propserous era of the Rinaldi rule is something that the Penitents generally try to get people to forget, much like Rome around the flipover years around Jesus's life and death and later Christian teachings.

UltraFennec |

Hm. What would you even use? Mind obviously...maybe Inquiry to represent questioning to get enough information to draw a conclusion? Academics to interpret symbolism?
I think there'd be a lot of ways to do it actually. The book suggests Academics is good for abstracting all sorts of knowledge about the mundane world, and Supernatural for folklore, theology, and everything else covered under the titular banner, including magic of course.
So I'd say that you could use Mind, Academics, Inquiry, and Supernatural to attempt interpretation. Someone with such remarkable interdisciplinary study would be rather adept at it then, finding correlations where others wouldn't at all, and it would keep it suitably rare outside of PC hands.

Delroy Callidus |

I'll just roll here to keep from cluttering IC posts:
Mind d8, Inquiry d6, Supernatural d12, d6, Academics d81d8 ⇒ 31d6 ⇒ 11d12 ⇒ 11d6 ⇒ 11d8 ⇒ 2
Academics has no current Favoured use but I'm not sure I want to claim it as 'Interpreting Omens' just yet. At least it wasn't a botch.

Oh, pff certainly. History is where my money is, which is why I keep thinking Venetian when I see Triskellian. I'm just bemused at how that page was kind of a big gray splotch for me and I now realize on really focusing and picking out the figures that it's likely the most 'adult' element in the book. I don't shy away from adult art, I draw it myself. I shy away from drawings that make me have to puzzle out what's going on.

Anyway, apparently I have some goal Gifts to use! Wootage.
Character gift: Quick Draw
Bring Cedric to justice: I'm thinking Insider with(Constabulary) might work. Thoughts?
Not sure if I qualify for the shipments one since I wasn't there to start.
Xp Spending! Woot!
Gift: Increased Trait(Will)
Gift: Increased Trait(Body)
Skill Mark: (Melee combat)

UltraFennec |

Insider with Constabulary is probably a bit of a stretch given that they really didn't play any role in the adventure until the very end. Insider with (Merchant's Guild) is more likely if you want Insider because that's who basically hired everyone, and they'd certainly love a reason to get closer with the Church through you.
Take a Gift for the shipment Goal anyway, you would have gotten it as soon as you joined up anyway. I forget, what combat style do you focus on? I think you had a Main Gauche in addition to the shield and Calendar Sword paladins get, right?

Son of a..., Paizo and Noscript are having s+!*fits at each other again and it just ate another massive post. I HATE when this happens.
Apparently there's SOMETHING about Paizo that occasionally registers as an XSS vulnerability to Noscript.
This happens on a lot of forums, but only every so often, and never all at once. Just every now and again a giant 'HAHA, YOUR CAREFULLY CRAFTED POST! YOU LOSE IT NOW!'
Now I have to start writing again.

UltraFennec |

I feel you SOOOOOO MUUUUUUUUUUUUCH! This is the downside to having a custom-scripted webforum. It grows organically over the years and you can add features whenever you want, but you also get these weirdass vulnerabilities and problems because Paizo has like...one guy, maybe two coding the forums and the website, and they did it themselves without starting with a more standardized package.
Wandslinger and I have basically decided that the only way to avoid it is to Select All and Copy your post before hitting the button. :\ Cold comfort I know, but for future reference, it helps when you hit the brick wall of sadness and post eating.

UltraFennec |

Another big post coming up. It'll take a minute to address all these things. Case in point, it takes me almost an hour if I need to reply to spoilers for six separate characters and I actually want to make them good ones.
I should probably doff a little of the wordiness off the top and cut to the chase more often though. We'll try that next, since the party is going to be full of verbosity enough to cramp my fingers.

UltraFennec |

That post took longer than I thought by far, and it'll be an hour before I can be back here to find you a suitable smith for a good knife. Remember, time-consuming items are still crafted by skilled laborers. Luckily you have noble connections and recommendations now so something will present itself.

Rosza Juette de Vieuxpont |

The word "rondel" doesn't appear in the book, but the description given under "misericord" would be adequate, the one appearing very much an evolution of the other (the massive domed or perpendicular pommel of the rondel being not dissimilar to the broad pommels found on some misericordes and for the same reason: place hand on top, ram home).
Classification of such ubiquitous items as daggers is tricky, and as you said, not really precise. There are some rondels which didn't have a blade with a cutting edge, but instead a triangular, diamond or even cruciform spike a la the stiletto...Which is also derived from the rondel or misericord, the chief definition usually being that you can't use a stiletto to cut.
Except that some Renaissance stilettos DID have more than minimal cutting edges on flattened diamond-cross-section blades, not dissimilar from the modern Fairbarn-Sykes. I'm assuming since Rosza wanted something that could arguably be defended as an 'eating knife', the loaner she has possessed just barely enough bladed edge-surface to be used for cutting with the rest largely following the classic maille-piercing-needle profile...
At least you're not trying to acquire a glaive-glaive-guisarm-voulge-earspoon-spam-spam-spam-spam... (Anyone else remember first ed AD&D's crazy list of pointlessly included hybrid polearms?!)

Lost my post! grr.
Just wanted to apologize for my mistakes: I tend to learn game-world lore in settings like this by playing characters of the various cultures outlined in the Lore, that said I haven't played enough religious careers to delve into such issues. ((If I ever brought a Paladin to 'End game' I would have certainly come across their inability to be ordained… Because I would have probably wanted to go for Ordainment, and read up on 'how it's done'.))
Also I do tend to muddle details in complex situations. I should hope when I make mistakes like that they can be ignored (after reminding me I goofed) and redacted.
As for Observation, I'll make that roll here:
Species (If Listen is appropriate)1d6 ⇒ 4

UltraFennec |

Redaction and correction is hard when the edit window is so small on Paizo's boards, but recognizing them and moving on with the correct facts is easy! :)
I didn't know about it either until I read that big ol' list of ranks within the Church, and it makes sense. Penitence, and indeed all recognized Heterodoxies of the Church espouse knowledge and peaceful virtues over violence. Paladins and the Capitular Orders are necessary to defend Church lands and peoples and their congregations from the dangers of the world, but those holy warriors are making a sacrifice of sorts in that they spend their lives in battle-readiness, for all the reasons that might be termed "right," but it's still a non-pacifistic state that distances one from S'Allumer in just about every teaching.
As such, they're recognized as clergy because of their training and ability to wield the Light as white magic, and enjoy the benefit of clerical law, but unless they give up their battle implements and take the proper vows and become non-violent, they can't really rise further in the Church.
To wit, they'd have to become Pacifists a la the Gift if they wanted to see the higher mysteries of white magic as well, since all most of the miracles require Pacifist IIRC. Only the Paladin's specialized magic doesn't.
I tend to learn lore by devouring it wholesale, but your attitude is actually a good one to have in this case because it means I can change things without screwing up your working knowledge of the world. Not that there's tons of stuff to change really, and I like most of it as presented anyway.

Just realized that I've had so much fun with these Interludes that I stopped detailing the next adventure mid-stream. Hah.
BACK TO WORK I GO.
Oh, in case anyone wondered or forgot, the last outing's title was "Sleight of Hand, Slight of Mind."
The next one involves Triskellian's most famous bogeyman and a series of murders. Expect lots of night-haunt happenings and cloak and dagger chains of witnesses, victims, and motives...with a touch of Scooby-Doo for tone even-ness. :)
Still no name for it yet. Taking suggestions.

That last post I just did with all that text? Phone post. I feel pretty epic.
Speaking of EPIC, I count fifty IC posts since 8:40pm Sunday started the 'multiple scenarios' rolling. And far and away most of them are multiple-scene replies.
You people rule.
I wish I wasn't going to be up all night reading essays.

Quinn Hildring |

Wow, just came back from no internet connection caused by no power for awhile.
Also, my phone gobbled up more photos, videos, and homework since I started this, so now I don't have enough memory to load the main book from dropbox, so I have to wait till the library, probably late Friday (after orientation for new and better job XD ) or Saturday.
On my way to read all the ridiculous number of posts, and make a reply. It is going to be awesome to read all that.

UltraFennec |

Woot for new and better job!
Not woot for catching up on all these posts so much. That's a lot of reading!
Catch up on things when you can, we'll see what we can get done with your Interlude scene before I start things up in earnest again. And even if we don't get it done before the next adventure starts we can finish it PMs.

Rosza Juette de Vieuxpont |

Congratulations on your job, Quinn!
And dammit, I was really sure I was missing something in that flurry of posting, but it was all done rushed in moments...A few lines here, a few lines there, UPLOAD PAGE between everything else I've been doing this week.
How the hell did I misplace a tigress?!
I shall be able to post more this afternoon.
====================================
P.S. UF, I think it has to do with the semi-sandbox elements of this period and the stated 'Go ahead and be in two places at once, we understand they're different times of day.' nature of the situation.
Not to mention really quick GM responses! :)

Delroy Callidus |

Delroy's spell he was speaking of would be 'Locating', which he doesn't know, yet. So that would be the study he would have to do, so he might not learn the spell right away, but any time to devote to learning will be taken up eagerly. Just throwing that in there, in case there was confusion over what I had intended with my post. (I only have 1 XP left, so Delroy is going to definitely need some time… Good news is he has the prerequisites.)

@UltraFennec
Sorry that I'm currently posting so much. Long overtime hours at work allow me to keep checking for posts, thinking about what I posted and what you posted, and then reposting.
I won't be checking again until tomorrow (which looks like another long day), so be ready for more postings. So take your time with your research.

UltraFennec |

Don't ever apologize for posting! NEVAR!
My "research" is basically complete because the books have far less concrete information about the Age of Legends and the Autarchs than I thought. AFAICT, it's basically an era where pulp fantasy Ironclaw would take place, complete with Howard-isms and strange sorcerer kings and whatnot.
Read: I am going to make a TON of stuff up out of nowhere, and vaguely reference the few extant facts, so it'll take awhile.

S-ss-s-serpent men? :D
Okay, I admit it, instead of posting this afternoon I fell over and passed out.
Lemme see what I can do now...

UltraFennec |

Wall of Text Prana, 5 motes, 1 Willpower.
/Exalted in-joke.
Seriously though I just dumped literally everything the books said about Autarchs in and then made up some things about Jon the Wise to keep things focused on Triskellian for now.
There's certainly a lot more than that cooking in my head now, but even with seven successes there's just not much to go on regarding that era.
Well, that and I kinda failed to make up something about drawing connections that didn't sound like B-movie tripe.

UltraFennec |

Don't forget to update your character sheets everybody. It's kinda important.
Also uh...please attempt to format them somehow, if you haven't already. The "quick and dirty" way works for awhile when we're starting out, but I can't keep straining my eyes trying to read everyone's individual shorthand every time I need to balance encounters out.
If you've already made your sheet neat and whatnot...ignore this PSA.
How much longer would you like Interludes to run? I'm closing in on what the major actors are doing for the adventure, which mean in Ironclaw's view I'm close to ready to run something, and given how much I changed things and surprised myself last time (for the better I think), I'm leaving that open somewhat again.
So, how much time do you want for these, and what do you really WANT to RP still before we get deep into DRAMA territory? We can continue those in PM if you'd prefer.
