Ey! You forgot Sokolov, the Russian marksman trying to find a way home!

(His info's on the myth-weavers sheet I posted.)

(PPS: I'd totes link it here and post my idea for a party, but I'm on my phone and nowhere near a computer for the next three days.)

I'd love to have Ergon team up with someone, he can play a secondary martial and a buffing role.

Here a metal wizard, could help with buff/debuff.

GM 8574, is it possible to apply still or would you prefer to keep to those who have already applied? I would like the opportunity to "throw my hat into the ring" but can understand if you would want to give those who applied to the original game first a better second chance.

Thanks, all, feel free to post your preference for who you'd like to work with. I have some submissions that I like more than others, but I'd rather that you pick ideas and styles that you feel match up with your character.

Sokolov character sheet here.

Feel free to post. What concept are you going for?

Liberty's Edge

Oh, Sokolov looks very cool . . .

To be honest, one thing I wasn't crazy about was Sokolov's equivocation of Androffan with Russian. It's a fun idea, but for me Russian is Russian, and Androffan is Androffan.

Unless Sokolov is part of a Stargate team, in which case yeah, we can say he knows Androffan. Unfortunately, the Stargate teams are 80 years in his future. :)

Besides the humorous implications of an alien language being Russian, I saw the equivocation as a way for Alexander to not just express an Earth-like understanding of technology (hence the points in Engineering) but also hold extended conversations with people who know Androffan (because let's face it, Sasha may be bright but his common won't be so good this soon from getting shunted.)

Ultimately it's not a vital part of the character; Sokolov could have Against the Technic League or Robot Slayer just as readily as Archaeologist (in the case of the League, it wouldn't be too far of a stretch to say they experimented on him.)

But yeah, in the end he's a long-range damage dealer (someone's gotta use those tech firearms) with a wild story and small collection of skills directly tied to technology.

Fair enough. I appreciated the Archaeologist background for the sake of Sasha trying to find links to the life he knew, but instead of finding gas canisters and machine guns he's finding robots and lasers. Just when you think you figure things out...

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Big Oleg is a character who is in-between the damage dealing and tank roles. He is big enough to take a lot of hurt, but not fast enough to avoid much coming his way. His offense is more geared toward versatility than pure damage.

I will develop Oleg as a technologist, representing his growing familiarity with the technology the party will presumably encounter.

In terms of a party, Oleg prefers to be picked than do the picking himself :D If I had to choose I would suggest something like:
1. Oleg (Brawler)
2. Auehda (Blight Druid)
3. Bosh Firebeard (Metal Wizard)
4. Shauldrek (Inquisitor)

Happy to adventure with anyone anytime, however!

I had two ideas but I'm not sure if, given the current applicants, you really "need" either of them.

The first is the one I'm most interested in playing if only because I like the idea behind the class. A Human Brawler with the shield champion archetype. He would serve as a tank somewhat as well as slowly dipping into maybe a few combat maneuvers. He also has a few skills that could be useful(namely Disable Device) He matches with Oleg a bit much so I can understand not having much of a chance. I love the character idea though so might as well plug it...

Story wise:

Spoiled due to trying to save space:

Discarded by one of the many Barbarian tribes that roam Numeria due to a birthmark covering his right arm, he would be found by one of the defensive patrols outside of Torch. He was adopted by Khonnir Baine and raised a bit as his son. He wasn't exactly a "chip off the block" and was sort of a disappoint to the wizard, more interested in fighting with other children than studying. As he grew up, he would drift a bit and up until recently served as bouncer to the local bars before finding out Khonnir had disappeared. Now he looks for the opportunity to find out what happened to the only man he could call "father".

The other one is an Elf Alchemist. The lesser of the two fleshed out storyline wise. At basics, he would be an archaeologist looking into the mechanical wonders of Numeria. Hearing of the problems in Torch, he figured he would come along and help with the hope of finding something amazing within the caverns. Mechanically, he focuses on Bombs and ranged combat. Sort of Indiana Jones with high explosives

Either of those sound interesting? I know you have plenty of options and I can always wait till the next Iron Gods game :)

Thanks for the thoughts! And additional background. I had kind of read Oleg as a Caramon Majere from the beginning of "The Legend of the Twins" trilogy. Ah, high school.

You know, now that you mention it, I see the similarities. I suppose Oleg would be protective of the adventuring groups that take him along instead of a brother.

Is recruitment still open? If so I'll be submitting an Elven Witch from Torch. She's a refugee from Sandpoint, having fled with her sister after fanatics burned her home (killing their parents in the process). Her alibino coloring and use of witchcaft being the catalyst for the tragedy.

She's been in town for a year now and supports herself and her sister as a practicing healer.

I'll stat her up and post with the character within the hour.

Sounds good. I'm all about incorporating families.

I'm in the same boat as Oleg; I'm more comfortable being picked than doing the picking, personally however I'd make a balanced party where each part member finds something about the AP they can utilize (ranged weapons, cyber tech, that sort of thing.)

Sure, I understand the desire to be picked vs. picking. If you like, feel free to PM me with your thoughts on team members, instead of posting here. One of you already has.

I'll do the picking that I have to tomorrow morning. Have a good evening, all!

After fleeing for their lives the elven sisters Nyress and Galvana made their way to Torch. Nyress found a welcoming community and a whole new world of technology. Posessing a natural knack for electronics, she quickly found a nich doing odd jobs and repairing technology (at a very novice level). She's rarely been seen outside during daylight hours and rumors fly that the malady that caused her albino complexion (Milk white hair and skin with blood red eyes)also leads to some discomfort when under direct sunlight. She's always been friendly to those in her new home but remains ever watchful over her younger sibling.

Scarlet's plans:
So.. I am going to be concentrating on just summoning critters for the first eight levels or so. Then at eighth level (Maybe ninth) I plan on wearing my Eidolon as a giant kind of 'Mech-suit'. Buying the right sort of items and giving the Eidolon the right evolutions Scarlet should be able to be swallowed whole and effectively take no damage while inside.

Neat huh? (^_^)

I play one *a s c a r l e t* for one of my local games Fleshmechs are groovy ^_^

OP didn't lie - y'all do make this tough, but from your requests and my own preferences for what will work well in this AP, here we go:

Bosh Firebeard - Metal Wizard - Stargrazer trait
Cinder Shellback - Changeling Oracle of Life - Skymetal Smith trait
Oleg Dhuzy - Numerian Archeologist trait
Alexander 'Sasha' Sokolov - Numerian Archaeologist trait

From what I've read so far about this AP, it can be pretty brutal, so those not selected should follow along and see if anyone drops.

Those selected, check in at the discussion thread found here.

Happy weekend, all!

*Watches folks wander away...*

*Picks up base-ball and begins to bounce it against the side of the crashed B-25 Mitchel....*

Well S.c.a.r.l.e.t. that's three in a row we've both been denied from...think we'll get on the next one together?

Oh aye!

*Tosses ball to Shauldrek*

They's always room fer one more some where's!

*Picks up stick and gets ready to swing*

(^_^)

Catches it with his left (big) hand, looks at it strangely, chuckles, switches hands, then pitches it.

"There's never been room anywhere for the likes of me...yet."

*Swings*

Strike:1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17 *SMACK*

"Whoo-HOO! Look at it GO!" (^_^)

Darn it, a certain human psion missed his opportunity. I guess I'll keep an eye out for vacancies.
