Blank Chronicle Sheet

Pathfinder Society

So my PFS group decided to stop being "by the book PFS" and just use the some of the rules to play with and do our own thing. As a result we aren't reporting anymore (since we aren't following the rules) but we do want to continue to utilize the Chronicle sheet concept because we do rotate DMs every "scenario." Using the Chronicle sheets lets us keep GP equal across all the characters.

This works fine when we use an official scenario, but when one of us writes an adventure we don't have a pre-made sheet. So I am looking for a blank Chronicle sheet we could just fill out ourselves for these home brewed scenarios.

Unfortunately you will need to find some way to create your own manner of bookkeeping. I highly doubt Paizo wants folks running around with a blank chronicle sheet, because who knows what type of boons people will give themselves. There would be no way to check for the authenticity of everything, especially at something like a Con (who knows if someone recreates a GenCon boon?). A shame, but this is something that needs to be tightly controlled.

We have no intention of using the characters at any convention, which was part of the reason we broke from the official rules. Though I do understand this point. I would have to say though people who are going to cheat find a way regardless, so prohibiting blank sheets on that principle is pointless. I digress though, ideally the blank sheet would be in the Season 3 style.

You can open pages from the Guidebook/scenarios in Photoshop and edit the chronicle to be blank. Just drag the file from its folder over the PS window.

IF you are playing online PFS, make sure to get a free Adobe ID. Also, use a graphic editor (such as gimp or photoshop) to create a digital signature that you can associate with your Adobe ID. This will allow you to lock the document from being edited and you can send it to your players with your signature.

Any way to get it to lock the GM-only areas, but leave the bought & sold sections open for player use?

You could always...

1 Have player download form.
2 Have player use naming scheme to save form (so it's easier for you to approve chronicles and send them back to the player)

Such as: z_RealName_CharacterName_PFS_Chronicle#.PDF
(why the initial "z_" at the starting... Adobe requires a name change when you sign the document, this also speeds up deleting old files)

So, if Bob has a character named Tim who already has 6 chronicles, the newest one would be called "z_Bob_Tim_PFS_007.PDF"

3 Have all players fill out all fields they are responsible for on the PDF, save the form, then send to the GM.

4 The GM then can complete the GM sections of the form, sign it (which locks everything), then return it to the player.

Adobe Acrobat will force a name change of the PDF file. Thus, remove the initial letter and underscore to the new name of "Bob_Tim_PFS_007.PDF" After the GM completes all the player's Chronicle Sheets, simply delete all the PDFs with "z_" in their name.

Doesn't help if I get in a time-limited situation, like finishing purchases before the local convention tomorrow.

Heck, there have been times when I didn't know what I wanted to buy until I was at the game day, and discuss things with other folks for advice.

Remember, you can always make purchases before and after the scenario with a GM present. And, on occasion (depends on population size of city and location) during the scenario.

The before is really during the scenario (to comply with exact wording in the guide) as saying to the GM: "Before we are summoned by a venture-captain, and while we're still in Absalom, I'm going to make these purchases"

If you are not prepared to make purchases at the end of the scenario for the GM to sign off on, keep a running list with costs of each item and submit it to the next scenario's GM, and it can be recorded as a purchase before you are summoned by a venture-captain.

This Chronicle Sheet complies with the rules. Thus, no field will be editable by a player after the GM signs the sheet.

If they created their own, it would not fall under that policy and in-fact they would own the copyright; a modification of less than 30%, I believe, would fall under that policy.

Just look up Copyright Modification/Personal Use/Parody/Homage.

No need to sweat it too much Walter

Not trying to step on your toes Chris, but as you state "create your OWN", that implies something original. Since the policy you link is about protecting inellectual properties, it is important that the difference is noted.

Now the above is in relation to the original topic.

The end of the thread has me a bit confused, but I think it is relation to PFS on-line and chronicles for those players, so my above info would not apply. I think that whatever posts that were deleted concerned a change in topic as the topic just did a 45 degree change in direction.

I've removed a post. Please do not make offers to distribute documents that would otherwise be personalized and watermarked outside of the asset management system on paizo.com. If folks want blank Chronicle sheets, they either need to pull them from a previous version of the Guide that they themselves own and downloaded when it was current, or they need to make their own Chronicle sheet using inDesign or another graphic design program.

Sorry about that Mark.

There is a blank sheet on Guide to Pathfinder Society Organized Play™ Version 3.0.3—4/4/11 if you can find a copy of that you are good to go.
