Xiong, Hayman, and Thorfinn head outside of the cave. The goblin that was at the mouth of the cave is nowhere in sight...
Xiong and Hayman hear the rumbling of rocks bouncing down from atop of the cave. There is a distinct snicker of goblin's tongue. Xiong manages to dodge the falling rocks, however Hayman gets hit hard on the head from a heavy rock as they bounce all around the mouth of the cave.

"CHARGE!"
There is a rumble of feet from around you and you see a dozen goblins led stampede over the the hills around you, led by a bigger, more thickly armored goblin than the others. Warpaint adorns their faces, crying in the maniacal voices of goblins as the assumed leader speaks in the common tongue.
"Smash 'em hard, smash 'em good! Kill! Kill! Kill!"

How wide is the cave mouth? Can Thorfinn and Xiong keep the goblins from getting through it, especially with the rubble around it now?
Thorfinn smiles ruthlessly in anticipation and prepares to meet the charge at the narrowest point. "Company coming! Jeod, Felix, get out here!"

Combat has not yet officially started. Everyone will get one action to take. The cave mouth is ten feet wide, fitting Thorfinn and Xiong abreast. As you head into the cave, the passage to the chamber you cleared of goblins narrows to five feet. Jeod, you have to shimmy through the hole in the wall to get back to the others, it will take a little bit.

Hayman, The Military Bard |

Hayman staggers from the blow, immediately feeling his head for the damage. When he felt the gash on his scalp, his smile quickly faded. Hayman was not surprised to see the deep red stain on his fingers and quickly pushed the wound from his mind.

Nolin Quickspark |

Wrenching his hands to get the remains of the bindings off, Nolin unties his feet and jumps up, wincing as his kness protested at the sudden movement. "I still have all of my spells memorized since I didn't use them, but without my staff it will be exceptionally hard to cast them! Please, have any of you seen a pure white staff, about a full grown man's height?" he calls out at he follows the lightly armored human.
Looking for Staff as he goes.

If someone can provide me with a way to provide maps online, this will help better. The cave mouth is ten feet wide. It narrows to five feet and opens into the chamber you cleared of the goblins. Two people could hold the line at the mouth of the cave, one person inside the tunnel, and two people at the chamber -- a reach weapon and a person standing at the "door".

"I'll come as soon as I find it, I promise!" Nolin calls out, turning around and ducking towards the other entry in the cell room. He scoops a rock of the ground and concentrates, hoping that even without his staff he could get his cantrips off. "Versaja!" he intones.

Felix gives a quick nod towards Nolin as soon as he see's him free. "I'm the one who keeps them from getting torn up, get your staff and join us, sounds like quite the skirmish!"
With that he is running off down the corridor, crawling through after Jeod, trying to make his way back towards the entrance quickly.

Looking over the situation, Thorfinn quickly realizes that the best place to hold against the goblins is the narrowest point. "Get back! Xiong, get behind me--I'll stand in the gap and block, you kill anything in front of me!" Suiting action to words, the dwarf hustles into position and turns to face the onrushing band. He bangs his axe on his shield, a rapid drumbeat, as the goblins approach. "COME AND DIE, SCUM!"

As Xiong steps back and Thofinn moves to hold the line, the first rush of goblins and their irritating chatter fill the tunnel. You see them rushing in, swords clanging the walls. The first goblin reaches Thorfinn and takes a swipe at him with a wicked grin and a sword that does not have as much rust on the blade.

The goblin misses Thorfinn as the other goblins pile up behind the first, waiting their turn as they cram into the tunnel. There is a lot of chatter coming from the goblins...
"Dwarf-man too fat! In our way!"
"Go 'round! Go 'round! Poke 'em in the rears!"
"Yous! Go, we stay here. Big One want them dead-dead!"
Nolin, you'll require spending your turn getting to the main chamber.
"Smash! Kill, stab 'em until they still!"
Xiong stands his ground behind Thorfinn, ready to change places with the dwarf. The sounds of the goblins die out, their small feet hammering the ground going away.

The drumbeat of axe on shield halts as the first goblin reaches the doughty dwarf. Thorfinn blocks the attacker's slice with his shield, and while the goblin is overextended brings his handaxe around in a backhand swing, inflicting a deep wound on the creature.

I was back with Nolin, so I am assuming I'm spending my action trying to get up to the entrance with everyone.
Felix comes running along somewhere behind Jeod, moving as quick through the small shoot and the entrance chamber as he can to reach the others as he hears combat begin. "Is everyone still alright? We found a prisoner!

He could hear the battle begin behind him and Nolin desperately hoped that his staff could be found in the next room. If not he would be next to useless to his rescuers against the tide of goblins. He dropped to his kness and began to squeeze through the opening. "Please no monsters, please no monsters."

Hayman steps up as Xiong and Thorfinn defend the line. He begins to motivate them with some good old fashioned yelling. Surprisingly, it works.

Another goblin takes the place of the one that had been killed by Thorfinn. It screeches in anger.

"Anyone--" He dodges the goblin's slash. "Ha! Try harder next time, you little rateater! Anyway, anyone understand their jabbering?"

Most of his time with the more monstrous language has been in study rather than practice so it takes a second before what the creatures says seems to click in his head as he murmurs to himself. "Goblin... Canon?" Then suddenly he is yelling down the tunnel at the others. "Goblin Canon! They are firing something, maybe one of themselves, sounds like they have some sort of armament! Get some cover!"

Its quiet beyond the squeals of a single goblin. Everyone is able to make it back into the initial chamber while Thorfinn is standing vigiliant, cutting down the creatures one-by-one.

I know the Hayman healed himself, I believe that Thorfinn is the only other one injured and it isn't too bad, right? Assuming that is accurate, I take the action below. If I am wrong and someone is reasonably hurt I will move up and heal them instead.
Felix dashes forward into the cave as quickly as possible, pressing as close behind the warriors as he can so he can see out through the cave mouth to see whatever the goblins are preparing, repeating his warning to the others. "They are chattering about some sort of cannon, keep on your guard friends. I may be able to slow down the shot for a second but be careful and at best I can only stymie them..."
Focusing through the cave mouth he watches for this canon, readying to forbid its use.
Move to get as close up behind the fighters as possible.
Standard action to ready the spell 'Forbid Action' when I see whatever this cannon is. Will cast it on the gunner, forbidding him from attacking if it looks like a weapon or casting if it looks like some sort of spell function. DC 14 or they will avoid the forbidden action for one round.

Nolin crawls down through the hole on the other side of the hall, praying to whatever god was listening that there was nothing on the other side that would kill him. His irritation was also rising at the fact that he couldn't cast a simple light spell! He snarls "Versaja!", concentrating on the stone in his hand.

Gripping his staff and feeling the instant connection he had with it, Nolin grinned fiercly and stepped out into the tunnel behind the group. He pointed a finger at the nearest goblin, gathering the latent energy in his body and channeling it through his finger. "Shazam!" he said, sending a bolt of green energy out.

Nolin launches a bolt of energy down the hall at a goblin, causing it to shriek in pain. The goblin launches itself at Xiong from down the cavern cordidoor. Xiong thrusts his spear at the creature, killing it with ease.

Another goblin follows suit, charging right after the first one. Again, Xiong deftly knocks it away and kills it before it reaches him in a splatter of blood.

A third goblin manuevers through the cooridor to attack Xiong, frenzied from the deaths of his companions. Once more the warrior lashes out and the creature hits the ground.

The final creature is too fast, climbing across the bodies of its fallen brethern. It cries out in a squeeky, high pitched anger. However, it misses the towering warrior.
