Carella screams at her first sight of such a horrid creature, and backpedals as far as she can go. She ends up right next to Elaris against the portcullis. "What is that thing?" she stutters.

Khalid nods, taking some comfort in Bannocks words. "Listen to the priest." The Vistani says to the newcomers. "We've faced this type of creature before and lived."

Fear Check: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 So much for being an experienced monster hunter.

Lucifer also takes pause as he sees the beast--less due to its form, but more to the sudden carnage and the fear some of his new companions show. We need every hand in this fight. Can we hope to succeed if they flee?

"Behind me, at least!" he calls, stepping back with his weapons raised defensively. He seems suddenly uncertain, and the tips of the blades waver in the air.

The Beast is indeed fearsome as tall as the prison cage is high. Its slavering jaws and red glowing eyes ware even the hardiest of adventurers, those new to the group are unable to cope with what faces them and shift back into the lowered portcullis clutching weapons in hand!

Nadima's mouth is slack as the creature howls at the group, only Nezter's quick hand pulls her back against the gate.

Nadima, Nezter, Carella, and Lucifer are Frightened for 5 Rounds. If the Beast attacks you, you may attack it back. Otherwise, you are too Frightened to act against it, even ranged, unless someone can remove the Fear effect.

Elaris you are Shaken for 3 Rounds. During this time you suffer a -2 Morale penalty to attack rolls, checks, and saves.

Marco rushes at the flank of the Beast, his weapons moving as a blur

Bannock strides forth making a mystic pass and summoning a weapon of faith which appears above the creatures head and strikes but somehow even it bounces off of the powerful hide of the beast!

Khalid's magic strikes the creature causing it to shield its eyes but still the missiles pummel it all the same.

The guards use their reach weapons to continue to try and hold it at bay but they have little effect on the Beast.

Quicker than any wolven creature the allies have faced before it strikes seemingly emboldened by the pain it just experienced.

The Beast howls in pain and in rage, it grabs one of the already wounded jailers weapons and pulls him in clutching at his throat with its enormous clawed paw. The man gurgles as his throat is crushed. The beast then swings the corpse of the jailer at Marco, smacking him in the head with the dead man's feet. The blow forcing Marco to readjust his feet.

Marco take 13 damage (bludgeoning) and make a Strength check DC 15 to remain on your feet or be knocked prone.

Marco sees many of its wounds close up, impossibly fast, faster than the wolfweres of Paridon!

Yes but nothing acting directly against the Beast such as buffing allies or casting other spells against it. But for the portcullis keeping you all caged in, those frightened PCs would have fled.

Elaris' spell bursts into a green, indigo, purple glow around the creature who snarls in challenge.

Round 2

Marco's blades once more bite deeply into the Beast but its hide deflects his follow up strokes. Marco then ducks under the swing arms of the Beast and spins around the corner of the cage into the hall.

Bannock's weapon strikes again. Spiritual Weapon Attack! 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26 - Spiritual Weapon Attack Advantage[/ooc] 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24 - Spiritual Weapon Damage! 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

Bannock raises his hands and streaks of light flash at the creature, "Let the light burn your soul foul one!"

Guiding Bolt - 4d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 6, 6) = 16

Khalid releases a burst of missiles at the Creature. Magic Missile 3d4 + 3 ⇒ (1, 2, 2) + 3 = 8.

The streaks of light, force and blades cause the creature to howl in pain but yet the great terror does not fall.

Lucifer, Nezter, Nidima, and Carella still cower before the size and ferocity of the Beast.

The other guard seeing his last friend eviscerated loses his nerve as well and attempts to flee - especially as he watches Marco flash out of the room!.

As Marco avoided the arms of the creature, this guard is not so lucky! The other clawed hand of the Beast makes contact, the horrid sound of the man's neck cracking follows brings into sharp focus how dangerous this situation is. Worse yet, the corpse comes hurtling towards Bannock striking him square in the chest!

Bannock, take 8 damage.

Round 2 - I'll leave non offensive actions open for the Frightened.

Round 3

Unfortunately Nezter cannot even budge the portcullis as Carella becomes further afraid from the sounds of death that echo from within that cell.

Marco dives into the room once more a whirling dervish of bladework as he rolls away back out of the room he looks back and sees the Beast on one knee barely clinging to life.

Just then a pea sized ball of fire flies into the stomach of the Beast and it explodes leaving a blood curdling echo that echoes throughout the entire prison.

A the smoke clears, Bannock steps out of the cell smoking clearly a bit singed by the blast, "The Emperor Protects!"

As wolven parts splatter the wall of the hall Lucifer, Nezter, Nidima, and Carella all swallow hard and are able to breathe once more.

"I...." Lucifer swallows and stares at the trio who so easily--in mind, spirit, and body--felled this beast. He seems at a loss for words, and he casts his gaze about for several seconds, before nodding and sweeping into a deep bow. "I am indebted to you, gentlemen. Both for your prowess in battle, and for standing firm when even I found myself unable to draw arms and strike this foul beast. Truly, you are champions of the people and the blade... so to speak," he finishes with a smile, nodding to Khalid.

"I know I had already offered my greetings and aide, but now I must say, I would be honored to ally myself with you. This last display notwithstanding, I promise I might serve as a fine sword at your side, and I can offer some knowledge of beasts such as this and the land you've come to walk."

She looks Khalid and Marco, "Indeed, my thanks as well. I haven't been that frightened....well, never. Quite exhilarating! " she says, already humming a bit, composing a song in her head.

Nidima shrugs, "That one appeared to have some... odd qualities versus others of its kind that I have, of course only read about".

Unfortunately, there is little left of the Beast after the fireball that scorched him brought him low... The jailers are also quite dead. It seems there is little left to do here.

Knowledge Nature DC 15:
The Beast was clearly a shapeshifter as its remains shrunk a bit. Unfortunately it is so badly damaged it is hard to tell what the race of the creature was though it appears human.

Insight DC 20 Lucifer ONLY:
You believe this may be an abnormal werecreature named a Loup Garou, the product of two natural werewolves mating with one another instead of diluting their powers with normal humanoids, this offspring is more powerful and more terrifying.

You appear to have hit the end of the cell block, there is no other way to go as the Portcullis behind you is locked closed.

Nadima calls out to the guard who locked you all in. A small slot in the floor suddenly opens spilling a bit of gore into it. The voice from below calls out in dismay.

"Achhh, what a mess. Devon, Kurt are ye both well? The strangers I find able to aid you?! I have baught heard more from the Beast".

When the tumblers begin to engage, Elaris looks at Carella and her new companions with incredulity. Hands on her hips she looks extremely put out, but she holds her tongue , waiting to see what effect Carella's enchantment has.
