I've decided to bot Khasos for another week or so. I'll PM him, and if I don't hear back in a reasonable timeframe I'll remove him from play. There's an opportunity in the story up ahead where I'll be able to have Khasos leave without disrupting continuity, so if he doesn't reply I'll take advantage of that. I think we'll keep trudging on with the group as is, you guys are working really well together and I feel like we've got a nice flow happening that I'd hate to disrupt. If things get too difficult I'll consider offering a GMPC/NPC follower to pick up the slack, or alternatively I may have a RL friend who'd be interested in joining. I guess we have a broad cross section of class roles covered though, especially once you guys achieve a level or two, and I'd like to keep this as simple as possible so as to not mess with our current dynamic.
Griff-Melee tank/damage dealer (who will probably be referred to as One Punch Man if he keeps rolling like he did last round).
Tyrek-Support heals/buffs and all kinds of fiery goodness.
Nilah-Melee damage/backup tank and spellcaster. Can also grow a set rad looking claws.
Thadaenn- Main arcane caster, control and support via debuffs and easily the best facial hair in the group.
Tuva -Support heals and battlefield control via hex, excellent defenses vs. spellcasters and competent damage dealer via spellfire (we need to crunch out your spellfire feat too, I feel like it's going to come into play in a big way and could be a massive benefit to the party and to yourself. PM me your thoughts on how we should tackle it and we'll lock something down). Her raven familiar also adds about 10 points of cool to the group.
What do you guys think? Does this sound reasonable enough?

It does. I agree we have all our bases covered so long as we don’t need a break-in expert (but if so we had that problem already).

That works for me, we seem to have a well rounded group, both mechanically and characterization-wise.
No danger of becoming One Punch Man after my attack on Vghotan lol. I think your 6-6-6 hexed me!

Tyrek |

Man what a novice move going underground without light. What is it, my first day of D&D?. Lol
I'll get a post up in a little. Hopefully I can stumble into Griff with a healing spell. Gotta drop the goblin though.

Tyrek |

Not sure what's going on over there, but if there are some goblins, he'll probably Color Spray them.
lol

I think I've got the layout wrong in my head. By going to the closest Goblin and threatening, I didn't think I was passing any others, so who gets the AoO on Nilah?
Nevermind, I got it now. Time to track some non-lethal damage!

I just re-read my posts (they were written up a little hastily from my phone) and I can see where your confusion came from. My bad Nilah!
Just to confirm, Thadaenn cast grease on the goblin you're closest to. He dropped his weapon and made an unarmed strike, which provoked an AOO from you.
All good. I badly interpreted the die rolls. The writeup made sense, I think.

Tyrek |

Please keep repeating actions like that for the rest of the campaign thanks.

Griff Stonefist |

/flex
Burning my ones on bluff checks. Griff lies with all the skill of a chocolate-faced kid who denies he ate the cookies lol.
In all honesty though, I'm aware that for the most part Griff's best action is to just punch stuff. I'll take Dirty Fighting at level 2, which opens up Improved [combat maneuver] for martial flexibility, but I'll have Brawler's Flurry for a second attack so I'll still mostly just use flexibility on Weapon Focus unless I feel the need to wrestle some goblins or something lol.

Tyrek |

I don't know if I could've technically failed with the same modifier but instead I decided to roll a 20 I guess.
Tyrek will follow Griff wherever, by the way. Even if it is to that damned tavern.

Griff Stonefist |

I just wanted to comment that I loved GM's "throwing up in his own boots" bit lol.
You know him so well already!

Khasos Sky-talker |

Back, guys! Sorry I was gone, had to evacuate for a bit with the fires. Just got moved back in completely (boy was that a chore!). Problems of having a lot of stuff, I guess.

GM Harm |

I've added a map of the harbour! I've finally figured out Google docs so I'll have a map up for your next encounter [it's rough so please don't judge :D)
Do you guys mind if I use aliases for recurring NPC's? It helps me get into character more, it makes me feel more involved in the interactions, but if it's a distraction I don't mind just posting with my GM alias

Khasos Sky-talker |

Not at all! Go for it.

GM Harm |

Yep, that's him :)
I'm just going to wait a little longer before my next gameplay post, just in case there's anything the other's would like to add before taking Chiglet over to the shed.
Now that I think about it, a woodworking shed could have made a much different setting for your interrogation, especially if someone a little less understanding was leading the conversation. All those hammers, chisels, nails, files.... that could have been nasty :/

Tyrek |

Yeah I ended up scrolling back up and figuring it out. I had a late start this morning(13 hours ago) so I couldn't post before work. Worked out though. PbP is pretty cool, yo.

I really like the NPC aliases. I think it makes the NPCs feel more interactive.

#thepowerofroleplay

Griff Stonefist |

Agreed. Characters with an alias become actual characters. They seem to have more personality because of it.

Tyrek |

Rofl, just looked at the map for the first time. Never played it but it's easy to tell that that's definitely an image file pulled out of a video game XD
Very nice lol
Super cool option. There's probably tons of maps you can get.
Is that grid part of the game?

GM Harm |

I've found a few maps, and I've begun using an online tool to make custom ones as well :)
Yeah it is haha, straight outta 2002! I couldn't get rid of the grid overlay, that's not a part of the game but I guess you could assume each grid is roughly 10ft? It doesn't matter too much, we haven't much longer left in the docks anyway

Khasos Sky-talker |

I'm not saying that I'm going to make Chiglet our esteemed Goblin-chef and make him a national celebrity for his epic cuisine buuuuuuuuut I'll probably take Leadership for this little dude at level 7 ;)

GM Harm |

Haha, for a throwaway NPC he's developed into quite the character! I'm beginning to like the little guy, might even have to make an alias for him :)
You'll have your work cut out for you if you plan to make him into a celebrity chef, he's got about 4 recipes and they all contain various parts of a wild dog ;)

Khasos Sky-talker |

Khasos enjoys his projects.
Besides, this way we can dress him in adorable tiny chef outfits! He'll be our beloved companion/mascot/chef! All skill points into Profession Chef gogogo!

Khasos Sky-talker |

Sounds good, just wanted to confirm what Khasos knew!

GM Harm |

Re-reading the last few posts I can totally see where you're coming from Tuva. It's a little bit confusing as to who is where and doing what, but don't worry! There's not really going to be much opportunity to split up in future, so everything should be a little more streamlined.
Thanks for your patience with my GMing guys, learning how to pace a PBP has been a steep curve, but I'm starting to figure it out. I'm so glad to have such a great group of players for my first campaign, I'm really enjoying this so thank you all for being a part of it!

Khasos Sky-talker |

My pleasure, really.
PbP is a different beast, for sure. Definitely takes some getting used to.

Khasos Sky-talker |

Hey, we're gifted!

Tyrek |

Probably 12 hours or so until I can post. Fridays are always crazy.

Tyrek |

Yo, real talk. Let's call ourselves "The Situational Solution Experts." Or "Situational Solutions Incorporated."
The situation is dependent on how much the pay is and whether we feel like it at the time.

Khasos Sky-talker |

Excellent.
