Female Skinwalker Barbarian 4/Champion 2; HP: 60/65; AC: 17/18 (in beast form), T: 13; FF: 14; Fort: +7, Reflex: +4, Will: +1, Init: +7, Perception: +7

Before

She sort of shrugs, "Well...I can't change what happened to me in the past, or how it sometimes still affects my thoughts. Maybe I shouldn't have told him at all....but I couldn't keep that from him if we were going to....well you know. If something happened and I got all emotional and crap, I didn't want him thinking it was somehow his fault. I.....I love him Ravan and I don't want to make him upset, but I don't know how to fix this. I don't know how to change the way I've thought about myself for so long, the way I was trained to think about myself. How can I?" She finishes more quietly as she looks back down at the ground, her wild hair obscuring her face.

Female Human Sorceress 4/Archmage 2; HP: 27/27; AC: 15, T: 12; FF: 11; Fort: +3, Reflex: +6, Will: 7, Init: +10, Perception: +0

Before
"It's all just a bit new Eri. He'll adjust. You both will." Ravan says comfortingly.

Female Skinwalker Barbarian 4/Champion 2; HP: 60/65; AC: 17/18 (in beast form), T: 13; FF: 14; Fort: +7, Reflex: +4, Will: +1, Init: +7, Perception: +7

Before

She nods sullenly before going to help with the door.

Outsider (Phantom) HP: 34/34; AC: 18, Touch: 13, FF: 15; Fort: +2, Ref: +5, Will: +3, Initiative: +2, Perception: +6

Inception Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16

Guess I'm not going to see it, whatever it is.

Caliban:
No, but there's nothing stopping you from mentioning it when you get back.

Shrugging it off, you continue down the corridor to find another door. Its inscription reads: Secrecy is our greatest ally. Exposure brings death. You come to feel the strain of the link between you and Ruedo.

You're 60 feet away from Ruedo now, so he needs to concentrate.

Concentration: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20

Outsider (Phantom) HP: 34/34; AC: 18, Touch: 13, FF: 15; Fort: +2, Ref: +5, Will: +3, Initiative: +2, Perception: +6

Caliban comes back. "Another door."

Female Skinwalker Barbarian 4/Champion 2; HP: 60/65; AC: 17/18 (in beast form), T: 13; FF: 14; Fort: +7, Reflex: +4, Will: +1, Init: +7, Perception: +7

"Did you see anything else?" She asks.

Outsider (Phantom) HP: 34/34; AC: 18, Touch: 13, FF: 15; Fort: +2, Ref: +5, Will: +3, Initiative: +2, Perception: +6

Caliban shakes his head. "Something seemed odd, but I didn't see anything. There's another fun inscription on the door."

Female Skinwalker Barbarian 4/Champion 2; HP: 60/65; AC: 17/18 (in beast form), T: 13; FF: 14; Fort: +7, Reflex: +4, Will: +1, Init: +7, Perception: +7

She sighs, "Of course there is. Probably something to do with the drowned men the kid was talking about. I guess we can take a look at the weird thing too while we're at it."

Ruedo goes ahead and scouts out the area Caliban indicated.

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21

Ruedo:
Again, you notice an irregularity in the wall. Upon looking closer, you discover another secret door.

"It's another secret door," Ruedo says.

Outsider (Phantom) HP: 34/34; AC: 18, Touch: 13, FF: 15; Fort: +2, Ref: +5, Will: +3, Initiative: +2, Perception: +6

"That's probably the way, given the inscription on the door," Caliban says, moving through and looking around.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23

Caliban:
You move down a short passageway that ends with another door, most likely another secret door if you looked at it from the other side. Another inscription reads: Beware the fallen for they may rise once more to threaten you.

For your edification, you've only moved 30 ft from Ruedo.

Outsider (Phantom) HP: 34/34; AC: 18, Touch: 13, FF: 15; Fort: +2, Ref: +5, Will: +3, Initiative: +2, Perception: +6

Caliban returns and recites the inscription to the others. "Someone who is stealthy and can see in the dark should probably take the lead."

1 person marked this as a favorite.

"Wouldn't that be you, Caliban?" Ruedo sighs.

Outsider (Phantom) HP: 34/34; AC: 18, Touch: 13, FF: 15; Fort: +2, Ref: +5, Will: +3, Initiative: +2, Perception: +6

"Oh...right."

"Let's get this door open," Ruedo says to Eri.

Female Skinwalker Barbarian 4/Champion 2; HP: 60/65; AC: 17/18 (in beast form), T: 13; FF: 14; Fort: +7, Reflex: +4, Will: +1, Init: +7, Perception: +7

She nods as she helps him open the door and stays quiet.

Ruedo goes to the next door. "Alright, now this one."

Female Skinwalker Barbarian 4/Champion 2; HP: 60/65; AC: 17/18 (in beast form), T: 13; FF: 14; Fort: +7, Reflex: +4, Will: +1, Init: +7, Perception: +7

She looks at him, a little unsure if she should be the one to open it or not...but they didn't have forever to get this stuff done so she simply complies as she lets out a quiet sigh.

Ruedo looks at Eri and gives her a small smile. "Thank you."

Outsider (Phantom) HP: 34/34; AC: 18, Touch: 13, FF: 15; Fort: +2, Ref: +5, Will: +3, Initiative: +2, Perception: +6

Caliban attempts to navigate a path for the others.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Stealth: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26

Female Skinwalker Barbarian 4/Champion 2; HP: 60/65; AC: 17/18 (in beast form), T: 13; FF: 14; Fort: +7, Reflex: +4, Will: +1, Init: +7, Perception: +7

Not wanting to make any noise she simply nods.

Secret Squirrel:
1d20 + 6 - 10 ⇒ (3) + 6 - 10 = -1

The door opens up to yet another thirty by thirty room lit by a single lantern in the center. Eight battered salt soaked wooden coffins lie within, two in each corner. As Caliban enters the room, nothing seems to happen.

Caliban:
You're not sure, but you suspect that if these coffins do contain dead men, they won't hold them long.

Outsider (Phantom) HP: 34/34; AC: 18, Touch: 13, FF: 15; Fort: +2, Ref: +5, Will: +3, Initiative: +2, Perception: +6

Caliban looks around for an exit.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18

Caliban:
There's doors to the east and west. Given that you traveled west in the secret tunnel, the west door is most likely the one you want leave out of.

Outsider (Phantom) HP: 34/34; AC: 18, Touch: 13, FF: 15; Fort: +2, Ref: +5, Will: +3, Initiative: +2, Perception: +6

Caliban returns to the others. "Maybe we should avoid the room. The door over here should go in the same direction."

He goes through the door where the inscription about secrecy is and looks around.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22

Okay, just so I understand, You told them no to go into the room with the coffins, went back to the other room, and are looking inside it?

Outsider (Phantom) HP: 34/34; AC: 18, Touch: 13, FF: 15; Fort: +2, Ref: +5, Will: +3, Initiative: +2, Perception: +6

Right, I went through the secret door that led to the coffin room, told the party not to go that way then went to west door in the secret tunnel.

Maps come in handy for cases like these.

Oh, okay, I think there might have been a little in my descriptions. So I just updated the map to show what's going on.

Caliban:
Poking your head through the door, you see the room is absolutely dark. Despite the dark, you can see a man-sized mushroom with a bulbous cap in a ten foot patch of bare earth surrounded by a two inch high brick circle.

Female Skinwalker Barbarian 4/Champion 2; HP: 60/65; AC: 17/18 (in beast form), T: 13; FF: 14; Fort: +7, Reflex: +4, Will: +1, Init: +7, Perception: +7

I think what he means is since we've been going west...we want to continue west and either way you look at it, we're gonna have to deal with something unpleasant....but, I'd rather deal with trying to quietly pass through a room than fighting off a man size fungus that can probably create all sorts of unpleasantness. Either way we have to deal with something we won't want to...but we gotta cuz the book says so.

Outsider (Phantom) HP: 34/34; AC: 18, Touch: 13, FF: 15; Fort: +2, Ref: +5, Will: +3, Initiative: +2, Perception: +6

Caliban tells everyone what the room contains. "I'll let the group decide what they'd rather face."

Female Human Sorceress 4/Archmage 2; HP: 27/27; AC: 15, T: 12; FF: 11; Fort: +3, Reflex: +6, Will: 7, Init: +10, Perception: +0

"So a room full of coffins that will probably be full of undead, or some sort of mushroom creature. I'd rather face the mushroom." Ravanalonna says honestly.

Female Skinwalker Barbarian 4/Champion 2; HP: 60/65; AC: 17/18 (in beast form), T: 13; FF: 14; Fort: +7, Reflex: +4, Will: +1, Init: +7, Perception: +7

She seems to think for a few minutes, "What did those inscriptions say again? I'm just asking because one way might be the way out and the other a trick or kind of death trap. If that overgrown fungus poisons one of us, do we have a way of counteracting it?" She asks as she tries to figure out if one way is better than the other.

Outsider (Phantom) HP: 34/34; AC: 18, Touch: 13, FF: 15; Fort: +2, Ref: +5, Will: +3, Initiative: +2, Perception: +6

"The mushroom one had to do with secrecy," Caliban says. "The other said something about facing the dead. Personally, I'd rather deal with one thing instead of several."

"Make sense," Ruedo concurs.

Female Skinwalker Barbarian 4/Champion 2; HP: 60/65; AC: 17/18 (in beast form), T: 13; FF: 14; Fort: +7, Reflex: +4, Will: +1, Init: +7, Perception: +7

She stays quiet since she had absolutely no idea what they should do at this point and thought it would be better to let those with half a brain figure it out.

I direct your attention to this.

Outsider (Phantom) HP: 34/34; AC: 18, Touch: 13, FF: 15; Fort: +2, Ref: +5, Will: +3, Initiative: +2, Perception: +6

"Perhaps the mushroom thing is what awakens the dead men," Caliban muses.

Female Skinwalker Barbarian 4/Champion 2; HP: 60/65; AC: 17/18 (in beast form), T: 13; FF: 14; Fort: +7, Reflex: +4, Will: +1, Init: +7, Perception: +7

Ohhhh...so if we go into the mushroom room, then it'll wake the dead and we'll HAVE to fight them since there isn't another door leading out of the mushroom room...but if we're quiet and go through the other room to the door on the west side of the room we should be okay?

Female Skinwalker Barbarian 4/Champion 2; HP: 60/65; AC: 17/18 (in beast form), T: 13; FF: 14; Fort: +7, Reflex: +4, Will: +1, Init: +7, Perception: +7

She kind of shrugs her shoulders, "I suppose it might...if what that kid said was right...but I'm not good at figuring out puzzles. I don't want to say something, have it be wrong, and get us hurt or worse. I'll do whatever the rest of you want to do, whatever that may be." She says before getting quiet again.

Female Human Sorceress 4/Archmage 2; HP: 27/27; AC: 15, T: 12; FF: 11; Fort: +3, Reflex: +6, Will: 7, Init: +10, Perception: +0

"It would seem that avoiding the mushroom is the key to not fighting the dead men, or at lease decreasing the odds of fighting them." Ravanalonna chimes in.

"Are we avoiding the mushroom by going through it's room or going through the one with the undead?" Cyrus asks.

Outsider (Phantom) HP: 34/34; AC: 18, Touch: 13, FF: 15; Fort: +2, Ref: +5, Will: +3, Initiative: +2, Perception: +6

"I suppose we go through the room with the undead," Caliban answers. "Though I would still recommend a stealthy approach."

Female Skinwalker Barbarian 4/Champion 2; HP: 60/65; AC: 17/18 (in beast form), T: 13; FF: 14; Fort: +7, Reflex: +4, Will: +1, Init: +7, Perception: +7

She thinks for a minute as she scratches her head, "Maybe we shouldn't all go through at one time? Like just a couple at a time and try to be as quiet as possible? If something happens though and those bastards wake up, we just get through the room as quickly as possible. Does that make sense?"

Ruedo nods. "I'll go with Caliban."

Outsider (Phantom) HP: 34/34; AC: 18, Touch: 13, FF: 15; Fort: +2, Ref: +5, Will: +3, Initiative: +2, Perception: +6

Caliban leads the way, being as quiet as he can.
