Can you all give me an Initiative roll with your actions please? Once all your actions are in I'll describe the round.

M Halfling Bard 2

Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
With the Hell-Knight alerted, Benni lets out a deliberate shriek of alarm perform(act): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26 and runs back down the tunnel making no attempt at stealth.
If I make it obvious that I'm 'acting scared', maybe they won't see how scared I really am.

Now you get a 20 :)

Male Teifling Ranger/2

'thats benni heading back! Move forward attris in preparation for him coming up the passage. You'll be the front line whilst Janiven and i get some early shots off. Benni will come back through us.

Bark moves forward to the second square of ther alley way allowing room for Janiven behind him.

Bark squats back down and lines up the lantern that is flickering in the distance ready to let an arrow go once he can.

Run little one, Run
Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

Male Half Orc Fighter (Unarmed Fighter) Lvl 2

Hold Bark!...what is the point of an ambush if we charge headlong in to them. Stick to the plan... perhaps we can learn something of why they are chasing us and how many more of them there are if we capture him...if not then you could always stick him with arrows.

Bark has a good tactical mind but I want to know why they are being so persistent...who or what is it they want so bad they would risk their lives?

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

If I don't move until he comes in to that square I can potentially do 24 dmg straight away in one round! Now thats an ambush!

Male Half Orc Fighter (Unarmed Fighter) Lvl 2

For f~+$s sake...4!

Male Teifling Ranger/2

im not sure of your logic here attris? why enter hand to hand combat if we could possibly take him out before he gets here? Worst case scenario is hes wounded upon arrival.

either this orc is over confident, or he can do some serious damage in combat.....

Male Half Orc Fighter (Unarmed Fighter) Lvl 2

Once he gets to this position we will have the element of surprise, the option to take him down, pin him and gather information... or kill him. Rather than just having one option. Trust me Bark I know how to fight in close quarters combat in limited space...It's the only thing I can do.

Ok, I'll give Berrin a little while, otherwise it's Initiative 1 for him and away we go...

Male Human Barbarian 2

Berrin grabs Bark on the shoulder.
"What Attris says makes sence Bark. Let him get close from what we can tell there is only one of them and if he's struck with arrows running down the passageway he might alert others.
Let me stand ahead of you."

I wanna swap places with Bark so Attris and I are in the front line if possible.
Initiative:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Awesome

LOL

Male Teifling Ranger/2

very well. But I think from what Janiven has told us previously it's clear what their intentions are and why they are chasing us. bark agrees confusingly.

Bark steps back to let Berrin through.

these boys better know how to handle themselves

Bark puts his bow away as his tail brings his sword to his empty hand.

1d20 ⇒ 7
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

Round 1

Initiative Order:

23 Benni
8 Bark
7 Hellknight
5 Berrin
4 Janiven, Attris

Round description and map coming soon!

Round 1

Feeling quite proud of his impression of a shrieking little halfling girl, Benni takes off at full speed (assuming you're going to do a run action, 4x movement, which will get you behind Janiven). After scooting around (and in one instance, through the legs of,) your companions, you turn and face, your bow still in hand.

Switching to his blade and retreating to allow Berrin through, Bark stands at the ready, hoping that his comrades know what they're about.

The sound of the stooping Hellknight's thumping footsteps echoes up the tunnel towards the party, although hampered by the height of the tunnel, he doesn't make the corner yet. He does, however yell out loudly, "Ha, I've found them! Follow me, you fools!" The exultation in his voice is evident.

Berrin moves ahead of Bark, weapon at the ready. You won't be able to attack - there's no room to move next to Attris - but you could attempt an Acrobatics roll next round to move through your opponent..?

Janiven also shifts position, her bow at the ready, hissing, "Down in front! I'll get one shot off before he can react!"

Attris waits patiently, hands outstretched, ready to duck under the enemy's blade, knowing that he has the advantage here. I'm going to put you at Initiative 7 when he gets here - you'll have to act after his movement in the first round he's there, but in following rounds you and Janiven will be at 7.3, then bad guy at 7. Make sense?

Round 2 MAP. Actions for next round (probably waiting for most people..?)

Male Half Orc Fighter (Unarmed Fighter) Lvl 2

Attris grinds his boots into the stone floor and gritts his teeth, his face shifts ever so slightly into the grimace of an angry wild boar.

The demon cock sucking bastard has alerted those following him...I will taste the blood of Demon worshippers tonight after all!

As the Hell Knight steps in to the tunnel Attris's eyes flare white and he howls in bloody curdling rage!

Marzgi DOBATTTTTTTTTTT!
Translates as "Crush weakness!"

Full Attack-
Claw 1-1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
Claw 2-1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Bite-1d20 ⇒ 3

Dmg-
1d4 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8-Claw 1
1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3-Claw 2
1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5-Bite

If both Claws hit then...2d6 ⇒ (3, 5) = 8- Bleed Dmg

Hey thats more like it :P

Male Teifling Ranger/2

Bark will be on the stand waiting and watching as Attris tears the Hellknight apart?

hes alerted his companions. Just as i had feared. A couple of shots from the bow could have taken him out by surprise and left us with the upper hand. Although they may be short sighted atleast they can fight. And fight they can!
this is on the presumption Attris has hit with his attacks?

INTO them boys! Bark yells with encouragement.

Male Human Barbarian 2

Berrin attempts to slide through Attris and the Hell Knight and get behind him.
Acrobatics:1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
ffs 1 good roll would be nice

Male Human Singer Lvl 5

A "couple of shots"...on a full plate knight thats confident. ;)
But I know what you mean. I wanted to grapple him but GM made it clear we wouldn't get a chance to question him so I figured take him down ASAP and hopefully get a chance to question another.

Huh? When did I say that?

Thats sounds like no time for questioning to me

M Halfling Bard 2

Benni, emboldened now that he is behind the large, armoured bodies of his companions, begins his Bardic Performance, calling out encouragement and insult. He bounces on his tip-toes and peers through legs to get a better view of the action. His bow waits for an opportunity to attack when his view is less crowded.
Tear him a new one! Kill that whore's son! Chop his arms off!

Oh ok, it thought you meant I'd said outright... I'd call that quote suggestive, not making clear ;)

Now, let's get back to you completely eviscerating this unfortunate sap...

how can he read my thoughts? Must be some crazy orc gift?

hahaha, but hes 70feet from corner, his speed is 20 per round standard but it is a confined space. Janiven and myself could have both gotten off shots before he had a chance to get here. All good though. looks as though you've taken care of him. :)

Round 2

As the Hellknight approaches the corner, Benni lets loose with a barrage of unsavoury insults, which seem somewhat at odds with his trained, cultured voice. The words pierce the minds of his allies, lending strength to their arms.

The Hellknight rounds the corner, holding aloft a longsword and a lantern. His eyes widen at the sight of the group lined up before him. He draws back his sword, but...

An arrow shoots over the shoulders of the party members Longbow: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25. 1d8 ⇒ 1. Janiven's arrow strikes the man between his breastplate and arm greaves, but doesn't penetrate far..

Attris lunges forwards, smashing into the Knight with his sharpened nails and snapping with his oversized teeth. His hands slash across the man's throat one after the other, spraying Attris with his opponent's lifeblood. The man drops limply to the floor of the tunnel, ironically avoiding Attris's jaws.

What do the rest of you want to do now? Retake the same positions? Advance to the crossroads? By the way, Benni's bardic performance gave Janiven and Attris just nough damage to kill the dude outright ;) Go bards! Making other people look good since 1983.

Male Half Orc Fighter (Unarmed Fighter) Lvl 2

Attris turns to the group completely covered in the Hell Knights dripping, red blood. Underneath the blood spattered black hair coveing his face Attris eye look up to Bark...

Turns out he didn't have any info for us

And Attris cracks a toothy grin.

M Halfling Bard 2

Blimey, that was brutal. I don't think I've ever seen so much blood. I hope I never do anything to piss Attris off.
I'll go check out the tunnel. You guys work out what you want to do. Maybe hide the body. It should sink with all that armour, right?
Benni hops nimbly between the others, carefully avoiding the dead body and its rapidly spreading pool of blood. He disappears around the corner.
Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Stealth: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (2) + 11 = 13

Male Teifling Ranger/2

it appears not Attris, but im pretty sure we knew that. I hope you enjoyed your meal. Bark has a snigger with Attris over his devourment of the hellknight.

wow thats one way to take out a hellknight! im not sure if he was fighting him or eating him? perhaps he was hungry?

"Let us know what you can see at the junction Benni. We need to know where his friends are. "

Male Half Orc Fighter (Unarmed Fighter) Lvl 2

Attris will follow Benni about 25ft away and moving at half speed, keeping to the shadows.

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

Arrrgh I haven't felt this alive since my lasy bout in the pits.

Male Teifling Ranger/2

Pssst. Attris, Get back here and let the halfling snoop. No point us bigger clumsy guys messing up his skills!

especially with a -4 mod for armour check penalty :) you might as well blow a horn!

Now, give me a hand with this body and be ready for the halfling to return, perhaps with more flesh for you to tear Bark still has a cheeky grin on his face due to the rendering atriss has done to this body

wow he really can make a mess with those claws

You see bark looking at his own scaly hands and nails in awe of what just occured.

Male Half Orc Fighter (Unarmed Fighter) Lvl 2

Well what if they come barreling around the corner, who is gonna protect the little guy?...oh alright then.

Attris stands from his crouch and walks towards Bark and places his hand on his shoulder.

I have a nail file at home if your interested

He bends down to lift the shoulders of the slain Hell Knight.

Are you gonna help me with this or are you gonna stand there looking at your hands all day Tree Beard?

Attris looks dryly at Bark waiting for him to bite.

Armour check penalty-opps forgot about that :(

Male Teifling Ranger/2

lets give the little guy some credit. He can move through this maze quicker than any of us.

but, i might pass on the nail file if it means i have to be afraid of zombies? bark has a giggle expecting Attris to join?

M Halfling Bard 2

Benni's head pokes back around the corner.

Can you two conduct this pissing contest some other time? Perhaps when we are not in mortal danger?

He disappears again.

Does something happen to your brain when your muscles get that big?

Male Half Orc Fighter (Unarmed Fighter) Lvl 2

Haha he has to be the most serious halfling I have ever met

Attris frisks the Hell Knights pockets

Anything in here?

Benni:
After berating the thoughtless Big Folk, you head back towards the junction, moving stealthily. You are about half way to the crossroads when you see bobbling light play on the walls of the tunnel up ahead - obviously there are creatures with lanterns approaching from both sides of the junction, and the tread of their boots is heavy. It seems you have a very small amount of time in which to react.

Initiative of 13, gotcha. You're in a surprise round, which means a move action or standard action.

Attris leans down to loot the Hellknight's body. Upon first inspection, it becomes obvious that your departed enemy has a lantern, a longsword, a light crossbow and a vial of liquid hanging from his back. The armour he wears, while appearing to be the customary Hellknight plate, seems to in fact be hard boiled leather reinforced with chain mail, and painted in the same matt black as the plate version you all know.

Everyone but Benni: The following spoiler suggests that you need to make a Perception check, and if you pass you can read it. I'd really rather you didn't read it if you don't make the DC, and although that seems to be a pipe dream with you guys (:-P) , I'm sure you're all hip enough not to let it affect how you make decisions as your character.

Perception DC 14:
The sound of swiftly moving boots echoes faintly up the tunnel from the direction of the junction Benni is now approaching.

If you're reading this and you actually hit the DC, you may move/act tactically in the surprise round.

Male Half Orc Fighter (Unarmed Fighter) Lvl 2

1d20 - 2 ⇒ (8) - 2 = 6

Attris fails to pay attention to what the others are doing as he inspects the lantern and a vial of liquid he has taken from the body of the Hell Knight.

Hmmm whats this then...some kind magic demonic magic potion?...lot of good it did him.

Without looking up Attris mumbles

If anyone wants a sword or some imitation Hell Knight armour theres some here

Male Teifling Ranger/2

[b] I think we should be fine. Lets just get this body disposed of [b]
Bark continues to push the body in the sewerage.

M Halfling Bard 2

Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11

Stealth: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (12) + 11 = 23

In an attempt to buy the others some time, Benni casts Silent Image to create an illusion of the now-dead Hell-Knight. The illusiory figure stands halfway down the passage between Benni and the approaching Hell-Knights holding a finger to his lips to indicate silence and pointing down the tunnel away from Attris, Bark etc.

Benni remains in the shadows.

Male Teifling Ranger/2

I think we should be fine. Lets just get this body disposed of
Bark continues to push the body in the sewerage.
perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
sorry about the above guys. rushed mid day post and didn't have to time preview the post.

Male Teifling Ranger/2

DC on the knocker whoop whoop
Theres someone else coming! quiet!
Bark motions forward in a stealthy manner

Benni: Nice! Out till about 11, so I'll post back properly then.

Male Half Orc Fighter (Unarmed Fighter) Lvl 2

Ok then I'm coming

Attris pockets the potion and ties the unlit lantern to his belt and follows Bark

Benni: Where are you exactly? Is your image moving?

Bark: Are you moving?

Attris: Sorry mate, you can't move in the surprise round :(

M Halfling Bard 2

Benni crouches in the shadows, 10 m from the bend where his companions are. The silent image walks slowly and with exaggerated caution toward the junction, implying the need for stealth to his fellow Hell-Knights.

Male Half Orc Fighter (Unarmed Fighter) Lvl 2

Sweet work Benni! Nice use of spell. I didn't know there was a surprise round as I didn't read the spoiler.

Savage Attris wrote:

Nice :) You passed the test ;) Ha just kidding, I should have put that outside the spoiler.

Everyone around the corner falls silent as Benni disappears. Janiven moves forward to shutter the lantern once carried by the Hellknight.

Benni sees two more Hellknights appear around the corner, moving as fast as they can in their armour and the cramped confines of the tunnel. They see Benni's illusory Hellknight creeping back towards them, stop, and begin backing away to the middle of the junction, obviously awaiting further communication from their "ally".

What does pretend Hellknight do now Benni?

Male Teifling Ranger/2

Bark is going to move forward slowly to make sure he is close enough should any of this go sour for Benni.

sorry guys, been crazy busy with work.

you see bark slither against the wall down the alley with his great sword tucked up tight to his chest and his tail waving across the floor in front of him to check for loos footings so he doesn't fall or attract attention.

what a smart move, have to give him credit for that! i can see this guy holding this group together or atleast making sure that half orc doesnt get to big for his boots.

Bark: Benni is only 10' from the corner, you can pretty much peer around with no chance of being spotted in the darkness if tou wish.

Male Teifling Ranger/2

I was more thinking I would be headed back down the alley way to the junction to be closer to benni if things go pear shaped? I take it you mean the corner we last battled at?

Bark Maldork wrote:

I'll get a map up shortly. Benni is only 2 squares away from you. Once you've figured out what you're doing, Bark, we're into a combat round. Initiative for all those that haven't rolled yet please![/ooc]

M Halfling Bard 2

Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

Benni's Hell Knight carefully draws his sword and uses it to point enthusiastically down the tunnel away from Benni and the others. He is attempting to send the message that the Hell Knight's quarry have fled in that direction. For what it's worth at this range, the Hell Knight's lips move as if to say "they went that way!"

If we have to fight these guys, we can at least do it without our backs to the wall.
