This place. It is defective. Perhaps the Great Mage Nex's work is unraveling after all these years. It is best if we find our way out as soon as possible.
Hajar nar Jundi
I am sure it will not unravel overnight. We should rest and continue in the morning. Hajar says
Stop for the evening?

As the warmth of the sun gets to her Yazi awakens with a yawn. "Hmm, does Yazi want to go hunting for a golden ram right now? Or does Yazi want to go swimming with the pretty fishes and coral?" she says while stretching.
Khayal Bin Haleen
We have a purpose here and it is to find that ram. I propose we spend the morning looking for the ram on this island and then spend the afternoon making whatever kind of raft we can to make our swim easier.
Rayhan Xohbadi
Rayhan studies his spellbook and says Perhaps there are divinations that might aid us in finding this Golden Ram
GM, does Rayhan think that the Locate Creature spell might work on this Ram?
GM_Pace
(Rayhan would need to make a caster level check with locate creature. The Golden Ram was created by an Archwizard, and Nex might have put nondetection spells on the magical creature.)
Rayhan Xohbadi
Good enough then.
My magic will last only about one hour, perhaps that is enough to find this creature...if it is on the island.

Hajar nar Jundi
Hajar prepares his belongings for travel. He rises and greets the Sun, a daily ritual for him as a follower of Sarenrae.
Hajar doesn't need to eat since he has a Ring of Sustenance...
Bartan Harrowborn
Bartan does need to eat, and makes do with some just slightly soggy trail rations. Then he prepares to follow Rayhan's spell to the ram, hopefully.

Khayal takes out his trusty kukris and starts leading his friends to the south. survival: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24
He uses his blades to cut key vines and branches to help his friends make their way behind him. Along the way he will attempt to hunt for some food if he come across anything worthwhile, but he won't let it slow him measurably from his task. The whole time he keeps his eyes out for tracks of what could be this golden ram. survival: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26

(Rayhan falls into a hole and twists his ankle after his proclamation. Hajar bonks into the first palm tree at the edge of the jungle while going to help Rayhan out of the hole. Just kidding.)
After two hours of hacking his way South-Southeast, Khayal comes across some sheep-type spoor. If said sheep was as large as a horse.
Khayal Bin Haleen
Stooping down, Khayal examines the small track in the mud made by what appears to be a very large sheep. Having picked up a possible trail, Khayal tries to leads the group in the direction of travel. survival: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10 Losing the trail, Khayal begins to circle around the last point at which he found some spoor. Help look for these tracks, or anything that may have been disturbed. Looking for a couple "aid anothers".
Alternativley, if we are not able to get enough aid anothers, you can retry after an hour of searching. It will just cost us some time. If that is the case here is the retry survival: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20

Hajar assists his brother Survival: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11

It's tracks seem to lead that direction Khayal says as he points in the direction of the southern most island. But I have no idea why it would want to make the crossing.
Do any of you know how to make a raft. I can cut us some wood. I don't think some of us could make the crossing without a raft of some sort.
GM_Pace
Khayal follows the tracks onto the beach sand. The tracks lead straight down to the ocean surf.
Far away under the noon sun, you see a massive sheep, its' wool colored gold, wearing two curled horns on its' head, walking up and down the incoming waves as if they were so much hard ground.
The Golden Ram is making straight for the island south of the one you are standing on. (See blue line on 2nd picture on Encounter Map.)

"Huh, so the lambchop can walk on water. That'll be useful." Yazi muses as she looks out towards the sea and points. "Might want to get started on that raft, Lil'Killa."
Khayal Bin Haleen
Khayal cuts some branches from the nearby foliage. He lashed them together into a bit of a crude raft/boat. craft: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (17) - 1 = 16 Its not the best, he muses, but it should float fine.
Grabbing a couple more branches with broad ends. These might not make the best paddles, but they aught to get the job done.
When Khayal finnishes his work he sits back happy for a moment. Happy that he did about as well as he could hope for under the circumstances. It at least looks like it will at least float.
Khayal Bin Haleen
I imagine it looking something like this.
I think it will. It may not be the fastest thing on the water, but I thing it will float. Khayal says judging his work.
I saw one of these made by a guy on one of the survival shows on discovery channel. It took him a couple hours and worked well enough. It wasn't buetiful, but it worked.
Yazi

Well you said "some branches" and didn't mention a timeframe so my mental image was... different :3
"If you say so, Lil'Killa." Yazi mumbles in agreement as she looks the raft over.
Khayal Bin Haleen
Sorry, I hope the picture helps. I want this to be something we can use a few times at least if needed. And for it to hold up at least a little if there are some low to mid size waves.
Rayhan Xohbadi
Rayhan says I could potentially use the arcane arts to make our movement a bit easier.
Rayhan has access to the Minor creation spell, but its not memorized.

GM_Pace
(I wasn't too sure myself with the "branches" description. The picture helps. On the other hand, that looks like a 2-man raft, not one for six people. Rather than navigating with a Profession: Sailor check, you might just limp along with a Survival check on the ocean waves.)
It looks like a rather narrow strait between the two islands. That's the good news.
Even with sloping beaches on both sides, the current would be fastest, and the ocean deepest, in the middle between the two islands. Your best chance would be at low tide (and the tide is going out, so 2-3 hours from now). And the current is East-to-West, which means even if you are carried by the ocean current, you have a good chance of hitting the southern island and not being carried out to open sea. If you paddle hard enough.

knowledge nature: 1d20 ⇒ 20 It is trained. I have one rank for a +0 mod.
We will leave at low tide in a couple hours. The flood current looks like it will go east to west, which will be to our advantage. In the meantime let's get our water skins filled and the boat loaded up.
Bartan Harrowborn
Bartan leaves the discussion of rafts and such to the more nature-minded of the group, and keeps his eyes open for the ram.

Khayal Bin Haleen
While waiting for the appropriate tide, Khayal does a quick look for some potable water. survivial: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17 finding a damp but not running stream bed, he digs a hole in a promising spot. About 6 inches down water starts to pool. Dipping his finger in and tasting, it tastes slightly bitter but without salt. It should be safe to drink. He fills his water skins with this water and offers to fill any others.
Khayal Bin Haleen
When the tide is right, Khayal helps the group set off, and prepares to paddle in the direction of the ram. Queue, skill checks.
GM_Pace
(Survival DC 18 skill checks. Like 7 of them, one for the rower(s), and one for the rudder person. You can add all the checks together by assisting. Rayhan flying with a tug rope would reduce the DC to 10, but Rayhan would need to make 5 Fly DC 10 checks and 5 STR DC 10 checks. Failure by greater than 5 on any check indicates no progress. Failure by greater than 10 on any check means something is wrong - the current is too strong and you're going to drift Westard, or a paddle broke, or the tug rope broke, meaning you'll need another Survival/Fly/STR check in addition to the basic 7. If you fail by more than 7 different checks, you've drifted past the southernmost Serpent Isle and into open ocean.)
(Who's feeling lucky enough to put Hajar on the rudder?)
