Is Hajar awake yet?
Yes, Hajar should be awake, as Bartan specifically yelled into his room to wake him up like... a long time ago. LOL
| Hajar nar Jundi |
Ok, then I guess I'm waiting on my turn...
Nasir al' Shahaadi

Her usual flirtatious demeanor vanishes, replaces by a focused dangerous aura that is no less appealing. Her blade twirling back and forth as she focuses on the door she speaks to Rhayan without looking. "They have begun their assault. The others will face them head on, but anything hoping to get to you or the scroll will have to go through me.

Hajar rouses himself from bed and says
What is going on? By the Dawn, what is the meaning of this! as he slowly realizes that something is indeed wrong, he grabs Tempest.

"Eh?" Rayhan responded, surprised. He stroked his beard. "Perhaps some preparations are in order." the older man mused, standing up from the table.

Sounds like something battering down the stable doors come from outside.
As you are looking around, with Rayhan about to cast a spell, three figures pop soundlessly into the library, on the other side of the table from you and the older man. All three are swathed in black clothing, one shorter than the others. A large pendant like a crude silver bell hangs from the neck of one of the ruffians, who also holds a sap in his hands.
(You are under the effect of a silence spell. And you recognize the halfling in the middle.)
The other black-clad man holds a wand at the ready, pointing it at you.
(DC 17 Will Save vs. hold person)
(Everybody on delay, Hajar, Bartan, Yazi)
| Hajar nar Jundi |
Hajar arms himself with Tempest and moves into the living area his brother, Bartan and Yazi are standing in.
What is going on? Who is guarding the Scroll! he demands.
Yazi
|
'We heard sounds outside so we thought they we're gonna come in through there, and then the door opened. It's been awhile though, do you think they decided to climb instead?" Yazi hurriedly speaks.
Nasir al' Shahaadi

Her body twisting sinuously as she literally shrugs of the restrictive magic, Nasir explodes into action, her whirling fury of violence all the more frighteningly beautiful because of the absolute silence as she spins forward bringing Shiver slicing across the wand wielder in an arc of frost and flame.

"Yeah, if someone had been going through all this trouble they'd be goin after the scroll," Yazi muses aloud before her eyes widen a great deal. "And Rose is with the scroll!" she frantically exclaims while making a mad dash upstairs.

Yazi dashed for the stairs, with Khayal, Bartan, and Hajar following.
(Ok, not everybody can squeeze in on the stairs, one at a time folks, one at a time! I'll say Yazi can get to the library door first.)
Course of action: 1d20 ⇒ 3 Do it again, Sam
Yazi opened the door to complete silence, three dark-swathed attacks behind the table in the room with the Scroll of Kakishon on it, one attacker smaller than the others. Rayhan appeared surprised as his mouth made no noise, and his wiggling fingers found no completion of the spell he had been about to cast.
Nasir continued to soundlessly attack the human thug closest to Rayhan, her blade hitting him a second time, but she observed a transparent shield flashing as her scimitar struck. The thug smiled, showing studded bracers on his wrists, just as Nasir's second attack hit, deflected again by that invisible armor. The figure pointed with his wand again at Nasir. (Nasir gets an AoO.)
The halfling in the middle was not idle, but reached for the Scroll on the table, his form blurring with speed.
Unarmed strike on the Scroll: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
Rayhan immediately swung a fist at the figure, knocking it out of his hand. The figure in black appeared outraged at the attack, and grabbed Rayhan's wrist instead.

The third figure in black went around the table and hit Rayhan with the sap in his hands.

A black flash enveloped Rayhan's torso, and he appeared to sag in his robes.

Eyes narrowing as the thief flaunts his protective magic, Nasir strikes with binding speed as he attempt so hold her again, her very essence resisting to be confined. (Nasir made her save, and already attacked. Interesting that she was first, too.)
What Khayal sees at the top of the stairs as he, Hajar, and Bartan is going up is Yazi launching herself into the room. Three attackers, each clad in black cloths and leathers, are attacking Nasir, Rayhan, and Yazi. At either side of the table where the Scroll of Kakishon was being studied the two larger attackers have their hands full with the two female fighters. They're not doing well, as both women have cut them up rather intensely with their swords. The one on the right (as Khayal would see him) looks a lot worse off than the one on the left fighting Nasir.
The thug Yazi was attacking hit Rayhan again.
Sap: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14 Dmg (nonlethal): 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
The thug in front of Nasir drops the wand he was holding, and bull rushes the dancer. (Nasir gets an AoO.)
Bull Rush CMB: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
A smaller, halfling-sized figure is hunched over the table, and appears to be stuck in combat with Rayhan. Switching his position, the halfling grabbed the Scroll itself by practically belly-flopping on it. Soundlessly saying words, the halfing grinned at the older man as a crack of light appeared in midair above him, then fell down, widening into a golden portal that swallowed the halfling and the artifact. The Scroll of Kakishon and the halfling disappeared. (Nasir would get another AoO if she had Combat Reflexes.)
Somebody's coming up behind you on the stairs. Loud footsteps.

She wasn't all that concerned with the Halfling right now. They knew his name, his face, who he associated with, and where he most often hung out. That and after the big shindig earlier you couldn't exactly sell off the scroll low key.
| GM_Pace |
Nasir ended up with her scimitar running the man through, rather than him pushing her back. His eyes glazing over, the man fell, dead.
Yazi's swordplay cut her target multiple times, and with his blood flowing everywhere, her attacker collapsed to the floor as well.
(Still in melee.)
(Bartan, Khayal, Hajar)
| Bartan Harrowborn |
Bartan moves around his allies and sees one badguy left standing (I think, right?).
He draws a card (his second to last one in the current harrow deck!), casts shocking grasp on it, and tosses it.

Nasir al' Shahaadi

Nope both thugs are dead and the other guy just vanished. Oh and everything is utterly silent.

Hajar barges into the room shouting
Where is the scroll!? and he notices the unnatural silence.
Nasir al' Shahaadi

As the fool that rushed her slides off her blade, Nasir turns to flash Yazi a grin, noticing the others charging into the room. Bending down to pick up the dropped wand, she looks around for any random object that might be the source of the silence spell.

Yazi

Looking around for anyone still in need of a good axe to the face Yazi shrugs when she spots no more opponents in the immediate area. Smiling back at Nasir that expression is replaced with an annoyed one when she tries and realizes she still can't say anything.
Seeing the Dancer begin to look for something Yazi tries to help, though she isn't quite sure what she's looking for.
Perception: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (17) + 18 = 35
| GM_Pace |
Turning over the body of the thug that Nasir killed you see a flanged collar of gold around the person's neck. The gorget has several inscriptions in tiny gold script all over the metal. You're not a magic-type person, but something that is around a person's throat is like a gag in their mouth. This might be what is causing the magical silence.
The gold gorget has a simple clasp in the front, and hinges in the back. (If you take it off the person, the silence will stop, as long as you don't close it around another person's neck.)
Nasir al' Shahaadi
|
As sound rushes back in the moment Yazi removes the gorget from the dead thug, Nasir nods. "That could definitely be useful."
Looking up as the others rush into the room, she frowns. "That little #$%&er just used a Dimension Door spell to take off with the scroll. Even for the most powerful caster the maximum range would be just over half a mile. He's still in the city."
Knowledge Local(what section of the city did my Venture Captain's reports identify teleportation magic being used in the last week?): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21

My VC indicated that the major thieves' guilds have been making a lot of use of teleportation magic inside the city in the last week or so. Probably practice. Khayal rushes up to the roof and draws his bow. Hoping to see the man still nearby.
perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Hoping that because the house is a bit outside of town, the man will still be in sight.
Yazi

"Eh, not really. I like the sounds you and Dealer make." Yazi scratching her head mentions off handily while everyone else was talking about the scroll.

You don't see any small figures in black clutching any overly large parchments. You do see, however, two additional thugs at Rayhan's front door, trying to shoulder it open, as well as the stable doors wide, and the horses going crazy inside.
