Gladiators of Zirnakaynin PbP (Inactive)

Game Master Feral

The PCs are slave gladiators in the famed Drow city, fighting to survive and win glory (and perhaps, eventually, freedom) in the arena, whilst becoming embroiled in the intrigues of their drow masters between bouts. Skewed a lot towards the 'Spartacus: Blood and Sand' TV show style and pseudo-Roman gladiator styles.

I love how almost everyone's reactions to this were, essentially, lying back and thinking of England. XD

Female Undine Cleric / 4 || Init: +1 / HP: 23/23 // AC: 14 / FF: 13 / Touch:11 / Saves: F: +4, R: +2, W: +8

Well, in Lorelei's case she certainly wasn't lying back, but yes.

Though she totally hates the first daughter now for ordering it, which gave her no choice but to do it or risk displeasure. Since we saw earlier that displeasure can equal death, it is no wander that she submitted to the order.

She is also going to be hating on Ivan for being an accomplice to her humiliation and crying herself to sleep later. So, could be fun for RP later. :)

She woulda been ok with banging a drow, though still annoyed at being ordered to.

Ahah! Ivan wouldn't have it any other way. Can't say he was too pleased with it either. His was more mental scarring as well. But dwarves are tougher than stone.

Female Undine Cleric / 4 || Init: +1 / HP: 23/23 // AC: 14 / FF: 13 / Touch:11 / Saves: F: +4, R: +2, W: +8

Oh good. I didn't want any unwanted pc drama. :)

Also, Lorelei would be very insulted to find out that you weren't pleased with the chance to have sex with her no matter how she felt about the circumstances.

Well...

...

...

Maybe Nathrae could help?...

not trying to come across as being creepy here

Female Undine Cleric / 4 || Init: +1 / HP: 23/23 // AC: 14 / FF: 13 / Touch:11 / Saves: F: +4, R: +2, W: +8

Depends what kind of help Nathrae wants to give. Are you talking about:

1 - A shoulder to cry on and someone to talk to.

2 - Someone to plot with in regards to petty revenge on Ivan.

3 - Someone to plot with in regards to the First Daughter.

4 - As an acceptable sexual partner (you are drow at least).

5 - Helping to bed Pharnox.

Nathrae would be open to all of the above, honestly.

All 5 reasons sound interesting enough. :)

If nothing else, it'd help Lorelei focus in the arena. And it's always a good idea to befriend those who can potentially blow up cities with a sneeze. :)

M Dwarf Drillmaster of the Order, Rough, gruff and blunt. He is a harsh and boisterous dwarf and expects much from new recruits. Often earning their ire for a time.

Ye should know better than te be buggerin' with a dwarf lass ;)

*looks at #2* lol.

Now #3.... That's something Ivan could get behind.

Spray: 1/1|Demoralize: 1/1|Female Drow Black-Blooded Oracle of Shadows 2|HP: 13/13|AC: 19/13/16|SR: 8|Saves: +0 Fort, +3 Ref, +2 Will (+2 vs. Enchant, -2 vs. Evil)|Init: +3|Perc: +7

And once the petty revenge is out of the way, we can concentrate on figuring out how to humiliate Ilvaria and get Lorelei into Pharnox's good graces.

I'm betting #3 and #5 are linked together: accomplish #3, and #5 won't be far behind. :)

Female Undine Cleric / 4 || Init: +1 / HP: 23/23 // AC: 14 / FF: 13 / Touch:11 / Saves: F: +4, R: +2, W: +8

Nathrae, 4 could also be with 3 and 5 if you wanted to make a ménage à trois.

Ivan, I don't even want to think about being "buggered" by someone as wide a dwarf. You should be watching where you sit and walk for a while, you never know where some acidic, sticky goo might turn up. :P

The Exchange

Great stuff guys... kinda' didn't expect everyone to jump in with both feet like that, but you're all getting into the spirit of things brilliantly! I loved (amongst many things) the fact that Segovax missed the point entirely and just assumed he was being rewarded... LOL!:)

Answers: it was Bluff or Perform (Act) as the roll was to see how well you entertained the guests, rather than how well you enjoyed yourselves... ;)

Perform (Sex Symbol) didn't apply, as it doesn't exist (Perform isn't like Craft or Profession, you don't get to just make new ones up, it's more like Knowledge that way...)... but I just assumed that Segovax's Perform is really Perform (Act) with his prefered 'method, instrument, or technique' just happening to be... 'sex symbol'... so that did apply. Endurance... well, I'm sure Nathrae appreciated it (although she may not be able to walk now...). :)

Well I'd planned on investing ranks into Perform (Act) and Perform (Sex Symbol) under the assumption that one was one's ability to act in the arena and one was the ability to perform in bed. If Act functions well enough for both, I'm happy to consolidate my otherwise meager barbarian skill points. =)

On a slightly meta-tangent, how aggressively do you foresee the campaign progressing/leveling?

Female Undine Cleric / 4 || Init: +1 / HP: 23/23 // AC: 14 / FF: 13 / Touch:11 / Saves: F: +4, R: +2, W: +8

Edited my last in game post to answer Nathrae since it seems that she posted while I was typing. :)

Oh, she did. No doubt about that. XD

And it looks like I'll need to put some ranks into Perform (Act) for next time, unless I could retrain my skill rank in Perform (Dance)?

EDIT: On an unrelated note, I put up a character portrait of Nathrae on her profile!

The Exchange

Consolidate away! :)

Relatively fast leveling in absolute terms (as in 'number of encounters')... to counteract the inherant snail's-pace of PbP... but I'll just let you guys know when you've leveled, rather than assign XP in dribs and drabs.

All Perform skills are likely to have their place, to be honest.., although since act, dance, and comedy are the three which help boost your performance combat check rolls, having at least one of those three is probably a good idea... which one is more important to each character is really up to you guys, and the characterisation you're going for.

Great character art for Nathrae there!

Female Undine Cleric / 4 || Init: +1 / HP: 23/23 // AC: 14 / FF: 13 / Touch:11 / Saves: F: +4, R: +2, W: +8

Are you allowing retraining? Because I am thinking that this character is not going to be the least bit scary and that I really should have taken a perform skill rather than Intimidate. (I have yet to use that skill if it matters.)

The Exchange

If people want to swap round points for Skills they've not used yet, then that's fine... at this point (i.e. that's not an open invitation to have completely mutable characters... just that it's okay if you want to refine some stuff at this early stage of play).

Retraining later on..? Well, we'll see how it goes... your guys do spend a lot of time training by default, I guess...

EDIT: oh, yes, just a reminder - everyone should probably record their Fame and Prestige somewhere, if they've not already... and remember: you get a Prestige point for each Fame point you earn (and never gain Prestige independantly of Fame), so the two should always be equal until you actually start spending Prestige points.

I think it is funny that Lorelei has no idea that the dwarf can understand her.

Heiheuheu. ;)

The Exchange

Re-reading the retraining rules, I actually really like that idea as a way to represent the characters' near-constant training. The ability to (post 1st level) slowly maximise Hit Points seems particularly apt for gladiators worked to the point of physical perfection... and the ability to (slowly) acquire a new language looks like it could aid a few characters too...

Female Undine Cleric / 4 || Init: +1 / HP: 23/23 // AC: 14 / FF: 13 / Touch:11 / Saves: F: +4, R: +2, W: +8

Bonus points if anyone gets that last paraphrase.

Got a image for ivan thats fairly accurate or at least, of how he looked before his armor was stripped from him :P.

not the reaction Ivan had expected, he was half expecting to get slapped XD.

Well, we're locked in cells and you're in a different cell.

And you wouldn't want Nathrae to slap you. It tends to burn.

Female Undine Cleric / 4 || Init: +1 / HP: 23/23 // AC: 14 / FF: 13 / Touch:11 / Saves: F: +4, R: +2, W: +8

If we were in the same cell, you would have gotten a ball of acidic protoplasm stuck to your face.

Or your man parts.

Or both....

:P

I thought the cells weren't locked? though I guess the guards wouldn't much approve haha.

Ivan just reinforcing that concept that dwarves are rough and mean and useless :P

I assumed the cells are unlocked.

Female Undine Cleric / 4 || Init: +1 / HP: 23/23 // AC: 14 / FF: 13 / Touch:11 / Saves: F: +4, R: +2, W: +8

It is just not the same effect to go stomping out of my own cell, going into his and then slapping him and then stomping back. It just loses something...

I'll level up tonight. [EDIT - oops, never mind I misread the post about leveling and XP]

@PP - I'm considering either now or at some point in the future multi classing into something martial or something from the ACG - is this allowed?

M Dwarf Drillmaster of the Order, Rough, gruff and blunt. He is a harsh and boisterous dwarf and expects much from new recruits. Often earning their ire for a time.

true, but it does push a very comedic scene into my head... Drow Stomping... hands in fists at hips up by her sides... lol.

Female Undine Cleric / 4 || Init: +1 / HP: 23/23 // AC: 14 / FF: 13 / Touch:11 / Saves: F: +4, R: +2, W: +8

It might still happen, depending upon what else is said .

I don't think we've leveled. We were just discussing.

Is anybody that understands the argument going to answer Segovax.

M Dwarf Drillmaster of the Order, Rough, gruff and blunt. He is a harsh and boisterous dwarf and expects much from new recruits. Often earning their ire for a time.

aaaaannnnddd more fun for Ivan. He is just ruthless.

Not going to lie, I'm really tempted to come over there and smack Ivan.

Even though I'm fresh out of healing spells.

Female Undine Cleric / 4 || Init: +1 / HP: 23/23 // AC: 14 / FF: 13 / Touch:11 / Saves: F: +4, R: +2, W: +8

I am loving this. Poor Ivan, just havin a poke. But there's always a reason with dwarves.

Female Undine Cleric / 4 || Init: +1 / HP: 23/23 // AC: 14 / FF: 13 / Touch:11 / Saves: F: +4, R: +2, W: +8

Female Undine Cleric / 4 || Init: +1 / HP: 23/23 // AC: 14 / FF: 13 / Touch:11 / Saves: F: +4, R: +2, W: +8

Yep. I should have had to roll some non lethal damage for that thing.

Luckily there was no rear entry involved in that...
