Foxy Quickpaw |
Ivan and Menrozzar bring the giantess down in a joint effort, ending the fight.
You now stand in the midst of many large dead bodies.
Two times:
potion of cure serious wounds, potion of haste, potion of aid, thunderstone; Other Gear +1 studded leather, mwk greataxe, throwing axes (2), 48 gp
Daseem |
Daseem frowns at the corpse of the giantess and kicks her for good measure. He'd let the lord of battle down with his lamentable sword work and was sliding towards a major sulk! Of course there was the possibility he might be able to redeem himself later...
We're running a little low on healing. Daseem has 1 fervor left (2d6 LoH) and the wand has I think 1 charge left. Who is most hurt?
Bupkis |
After the Grenseldek fell, Bupkis healed his wounded friends.
Kinetic Healer (Daseem): 3d6 + 11 ⇒ (5, 4, 3) + 11 = 23
Kinetic Healer (Menrozzar): 3d6 + 11 ⇒ (3, 4, 1) + 11 = 19
Both will need to accept 6 non-lethal damage (which will go away after an 8 hour rest), in order to recieve the healing.
He surveys the field, littered with fallen enemies. He's sorry to see so much death, but he's comforted to know that Alicia and her family will be safe.
Menrozzar Vyrlock |
Menrozzar breathes heavily, returning to his traditionally more human form. Bupkis's healing closed his wounds, but added more tiredness than Menrozzar usually felt after his transformation ended. Still, better than bleeding.
"Thank you...Bupkis. Amira...can you tell...if any of these potions...provide healing?" Menrozzar, still breathing heavily from the exertion, asked the halfling.
Amira Ravenheart__ |
"I got the magic stick, if you need more healing. I suggest to keep potions for emergencies when no one who can provide magic healing is around. But I'll check.
Amira heals everyone who needs it with the wand.
1d8+1
Then she checks the found potions for their magic properties.

All Potions identified.
"This is an interesting collection of magical drinks."
Menrozzar Vyrlock |
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
That rounds out Menrozzar's healing nicely.
Menrozzar nodded thanks to Amira, then said, "That's a good idea, but it's nice to know we have some potions. Since Ivan, Daseem, and I fight primarily in combat, I think perhaps we should each take one of the healing potions for emergencies."
Bupkis |
Bupkis motions towards the body of the giant, "You think this Grenseldek we slay?"
He checks out the bedchamber, on the lookout for shinies.
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13
Ivan "The Mountain" Ironbrow |
I'm fine, but can Any O' ye use mending magic? Me armor got more 'an a little banged up. Anythin' ta help hold it together until I can work on it again.
Ivan looks around at bupkis's question.
Not sure, always figured grenseldek would be male, but, tha' may be due ta' me own bias. Let's check a'roun' tha' area, see ifn' anythin' can clue us in.
perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (2) + 11 = 13
Menrozzar Vyrlock |
Menrozzar says, "Based on the wedding dress below, the crumpled letter proposing marriage to this 'Storm Tyrant', and the fact that the giantess was crying when we came into the room, I believe that it is."
Daseem |
I lost track, is there more than one wand of cure light wounds?Anyway yes Daseem will accept the non lethal damage.
Daseem was about to upon Gorum for aid to help him fight again today when Bupkis offers to cure him. Knowing the little one was a far more skilled healer Daseem nodded gratefully.
Feeling better he shrugged at the conversation about who they'd killed but then he suggested brightly, "Go explore? M-maybe there's more Giants ta fight?"
Bupkis |
After searching the bedroom, including checking under the bed, Bupkis opens the doors to the balcony, and walks out to survey the fort.
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12
Foxy Quickpaw |
A balcony skirted with stone crenellations offers a commanding view of the fort’s inner yards and buildings. Two ornate doors, one in the north and one in the east, provide passage from the bedroom to the balcony.
From the look of it, the forts inhabitants haven't realized, that the threat that the alarm was raised for, is already inside. No one is seen running around in the inner yard or on the walls.
Daseem |
Daseem peers it it before shrugging, "Mebbe..." It looked like a rock to Daseem. If it was a sword or some other implement of war he'd have been interested, but no it was a rock. Perhaps Bupkis had a collection? As far as Daseem was concerned the little one was welcome to it.
Ha and I bet this geode is important...
Ivan "The Mountain" Ironbrow |
tsk tsk daseem needs a lesson, a rock can certainly be an implement of war and battle! Just depends on how you use it!
Ivan will grab the crumpled letter and see what it says though, At bupkis's call, Ivan moves to inspect it.
Seems ta' be likely. Les see 'er...
Anything special about this gem when compared to the one we have?
Foxy Quickpaw |
The rock found lodged in Uskroth’s eye socket and the one found here in Readlake Fort are in fact one, that was broken apart. It also is no simple stone. It is a magnificent geode whose rich violet and verdant emerald crystals form glittering crystalline patterns.
Ivan with his keen eye for stones and gems knows that it's a spectacular pleochroic variety of tourmaline, the nearest known deposits of which lie in the Mindspin Mountains to the south and west. And someone carved a line into the topography of the gem.
Menrozzar Vyrlock |
Knowledge (local): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
Menrozzar looks at the rocks, then asks, "Does anyone know where this is? Grenseldek wanted to know where this was - there might be something important there."
"We must also consider this Storm Tyrant Volstus. Grenseldek's marriage proposal letter mentioned he called all giants to him to bring ruin to the 'smallfolk.' This speaks of a possible giant invasion to me, which could be further threat to Trunau. We must determine the truth of this, as well. Perhaps we should scout out this 'Minderhal's Hammer', wherever it may be."
Bupkis |
Bupkis studies the two geodes, but he isn't used to the idea of maps, and can't understand where the party has to go. He tries standing on his head to look at the "map" from a different perspective.
Not trained in either Knowledge Geography or Local.
Ivan "The Mountain" Ironbrow |
know. geo: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Ivan looks over the geode, but the rattling of his brain inside his tin suit has left him a more than a little unfocused, the constant ringing doesn't help either.
Bah I'll look at it later, don't seem like it ta' me now, but cursed stone ifn' I'm sure O' much at all right now.
Amira Ravenheart__ |
"The geode’s crystalline valleys and mounds reflect the exact topography of the Mindspin Mountains. And this carved out line might be a path leading somewhere." Amira offers as an explanation.
"That would be another great adventure to find out!" She jumps a little in excitement. "But first I'd need some time to write a proper poem about this battle against the giants here."
Menrozzar Vyrlock |
"It could, but adventure must take a back seat to pressing threats, like this Volstus. Amira, Ivan, do either of you know where to find Minderhal's Hammer?"
Amira Ravenheart__ |
"Last time I checked, Minderhal was pretty alive. So I guess you'd find his hammer in his realm? But I don't think fighting the god of the giants would make it an easier approach to get rid of a giant threat. Or do you mean something else?" Amira asks a bit confused.
Amira Ravenheart__ |
After a while musing over Menrozzar's inquiry and the Mindspin Mountains she blurts out "The giantslayer Nargrym Steelhand's tomb - that's the one that Ingrahild and her brother searched for - is in the Mindspin Mountains!"
Taking 20 on whatever knowledge check that would be.
Bupkis |
Bupkis suggests, "Maybe we ask Trunau council for help interpreting map, so we know where go? But first we stop other giants here!"
He goes back down the stairs and checks the area where they fought the first two giants, to make sure that there aren't more coming.

Assuming that others are coming along:
Bupkis decides to explore the rest of the tower. He opens the double doors on the south side of the room, and looks through.

Assuming you mean K31
A low fence surrounds a rectangular opening in this room’s floor. A winch, a frayed rope, several rusted buckets, and three large water jugs sit next to the fence.
Daseem |
Daseem knew nothing of the danger the poorly maintained fence and the ground around it posed to them, however his quick eyes settled on the subtle outline of a concealed door.
Kn: Engineering (untrained): 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (6) + 0 = 6

"Ooh!" he pointed, "A h-hidden door!"
Menrozzar Vyrlock |
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30
Menrozzar points out the hidden switches. ”There are two switches here - I’m not sure what they do, however. Did anyone notice anything that provided instruction with them?”
Bupkis |
Knowledge Engineering: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19
Bupkis warns, "Careful near fence! Edge of floor by well is weak, and could give way!"
He's not sure what to do with the switches, so he decides to leave the secret door for now, and explores down the stairs he saw in the previous room.
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22
Foxy Quickpaw |
Down the stairs leads into a large cellar. Rows of decrepit, mildew-covered wooden shelves line this storeroom. Ancient bloodstains soil the floor beneath piles of filthy bedding. A large cast-iron cauldron lies on its side in the northwest corner of the room under a thick layer of dust, undisturbed except for a single large handprint in the grime. A pungent, sour stench fills the air. The stench comes from the bedding for several large creatures that is spread out in this room.
Knowledge(Religion) DC17 please.
Menrozzar Vyrlock |
Menrozzar's nose wrinkled in disgust as he looked around the room.
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23
Daseem |
Daseem sniffed the air involuntarily, euu yuck! But there was something more, something sickly sweet. "What they got c-cooking?" he muttered with disgust!

Kn: Religion: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
He takes a closer look at the cauldron careful not to step in or touch anything horrible...
Bupkis |
After looking over the room, Bupkis listened at the double doors, concerned that the inhabitants of this area might be nearby.
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18
Listening at the doors to K34.
Daseem |
"It's h-haunted!" cried Daseem pointing at the Cauldron gleefully! Maybe the giants cooked somebody in it he thought and without thinking of the consequences he drew his sword and rushed towards the cauldron ready to smash it in Gorum's name.
Menrozzar Vyrlock |
Was Daseem...happy about the Cauldron being haunted? And he was going to try and fight it? Clearly, the attack on Trunau had addled Daseem's mind. Menrozzar suspected this wasn't going to be pleasant.
Foxy Quickpaw |
The cauldron is unimpressed by the attack of Daseem.
In your vision, the cauldron rights itself and fills with a thick, steaming stew containing recognizable chunks of human flesh. Ears, fingers, feet, hands. You see yourself gorging on the horrific meal and are filled with such profound remorse at the cannibalistic act that you feel the strong urge to harm yourself.
DC20 Will save please or you're under an effect like terrible remorse. Duration is 7 rounds.
