Game Master Human

Investigating the transformation of a highland village, four travelers find portents of unfathomable misfortune. They follow a band of mysterious humanoids to a larger town, only to find it, too, thrown into chaos. At last, they catch the performers in the act of opening a portal to the distant city of Carcosa, and defeat a host of enemies to defend a city from corruption.

One of the last lines of the Illusion school general rules: " If any viewer successfully disbelieves an illusion and communicates this fact to others, each such viewer gains a saving throw with a +4 bonus."

Ah, alright. Go ahead then. If you make the save then you don't take the -2 penalty on the Knowledge checks, too.

27, with haste.

Aught's weapon smashes into the illusion's knuckles, seeming to slightly wound the true creature's pale feelers; it does not seem to wound it as much as you would expect. He hears a voice in his mind - something that sounds like a screeching saw on metal, something that sounds altogether anathema to his purpose and existence. "Dear creature, why do you strike me? I came only to enjoy the entertainment!" the unnatural voice seems to say.

Round 6: Horn is up!

Horn looks in dismay at his confused velocijakks...and the flying monstrosity. He motions to the Satyr to shoot an arrow at it.

Meanwhile, he casts a healing spell on himself, leaving the feathered pterojakk somewhat less torn and bloodied. HP go from 1 >> 22

The arrow bounces off the creature's thick, marbled skin. Horn-the-crimson-flier is able to heal himself without incident.

Meanwhile, the velocijakk that earlier blocked the monster's advance digs its talon into the creature's neck and tries to end its unnatural life. The other one near the strange creature babbles and stands in place, apparently unperturbed by the alien water.

Near Suchak, the two velocijakks who'd previously slashed Podrick fall on each other, but are slowed by the murky water.

Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

The extra five feet didn't make a difference anyway, so full attack.

Alright. It moved back and up like 25 feet last round and is now sqrt(50*50+35*35+5*5)>60 feet away, so you'll be taking -6 in increment penalties.

Suchak flings his razor-edged blade many times in rapid succession, but each time it either falls short, lodges in the wall beside the monster, or is deflected downwards by the telepath's freakishly tough hide.

Sizing up the warrior who's just approached it, the simply-dressed triaxian lunges for him, its arms and legs bending around like jelly and striking him many times in quick succession. Holding one arm around Aught's neck, the thing moves forward and bites into his skull. Aught feels his consciousness weakening, but something in him seems to surge to life at the thought of letting one of these monstrosities win. His prismatic blood burns and boils on the site of the wound, pushing the monster away.

That is something I did NOT know, I thought it was closer. 3D battles need a bit more specificity as far as exact location. In that case, can we assume I attacked once, used my Swift to go into Stance of the Ether Gate, and used my Move to teleport 30 feet closer? That should be able to put me near directly underneath the thing.

Aught's flurry of pounding strikes mostly buffet the creature, though the second seems to dent its false ribcage (and bruise its true froglike torso) a bit. It screeches in his mind, "Do you think I like being here? This world is squirming, warm, and disorderly. The King called me to improve upon it, but you horrid slaves have bungled all. I will simply take the book and enter the city, dear creature."

Aught - yeah, this is yet another thing with something that ignores displacement. Also, I think it was 19 damage from the shout, rather than 3.

Suchak, you can retcon that in, but note that it's still 55 feet up and will be sqrt(10*10+55*55)>40 feet away, meaning you take a couple range increments and the attack still misses. If you are not sure how high up something is, please click it and check the comment on the right that pops up.

Round 7: Horn is up!

I forgot to say so earlier, but it doesn't matter much because the satyr is a poor shot - the satyr is charmed. You can make a Charisma check vs. Cha: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13 to get it to willingly attack the creature this round.

Also, just checked the map, and it looks like Yellow never got hit by the confusion SLA and is able to act normally now that the thing from the lake's aura is down. However, I see no way for it to be useful in the aerial battle . . .

Seeing that his current summons aren't suited to the moment, the Season Keeper starts to chant again.

Round 8: Horn is up!

As Horn's spell concludes, four whipping wind elementals appear, surrounding the monstrosity. Horn calls on the spirit of the plains to whip the elementals into still further fury and then directs them to attack the creature they surround.

Think I got it so they're all flanking (and blue gets elevation!). 3D is tough . . .

Horn's casting completes with four puffs of quickly-expanding hot, dry air around the monster. He rattles off another spell as they move to strike, empowering them with the same speed he and the others already benefit from.

Flying up to level with the frog-like menace, he has a good vantage to see the pressurized air-beings pound mightily at it. Near all of their strikes miss, but as the creature dodges between them, it leaves itself open to one. The second-topmost makes a light jab into the creature's flesh, almost seeming to leave a wound before the rubbery tissue bounces back.

The satyr eyes the air battle with trepidation, confused by its emotions for the strange triaxian-turned-monster.

Down on stage, the foamed water seems to turn yellow, reflecting the light of the distant suns. The city on the far horizon is now visible in the entire playhouse - stark black silhouettes and glimmering tall spires seem to call to you, though not nearly so strongly as "Pisn"'s trickery.

51 damage to Aught, if I'm not mistaken.

Most of Suchak's throws bounce harmlessly off the monster's thick skin, but one scores a deep black gash in its throat. Despite his best efforts to block it out, the monster's scream keens harshly into his mind, reminding him of a time in Zo when he witnessed a laialar being eaten alive by a corrosive-breathed vapor boar in a cruel, one-sided pit fight.

Sending rippling waves of pain-thoughts into the minds of all present, then, the monster lashes at and tears into Aught. He raises his arm quickly enough to block it with his shield, a few times, but in seconds he is bleeding from two more wounds and the monster worms its tentacles into his spine. Consciousness fading, he feels part of himself drifting into inky darkness and dissolving.

Aught is up! Though I'm not sure he's still . . . "up."

Due to him raging at the time, I believe he's just flat-out dead now. -10HP -18 Rage HP and all.

Ripples of light flash in his eyes as the darkness takes him. He falls to the growing lake below him, lifeless but for the faint arcane glimmer oozing it's way out of his wounds. He hears them, as a small hum,the thinnest of whispers, calling out to him. Swirls of color twisting slowly out of the darkness, growing, burning bright as day. Three silhouettes, long, slender, tower over the Keeper. A cold four-fingered hand brushes the ichor off of his brow before cradling his head. "You've done well, Nanuq." speaks the first. The second takes hold of his hands, easily engulfing them in their own. "We thank you, Good Nanuq." The third silhouette places their hands on Aught's wounded chest, applying pressure.
"May you know peace."
In an instant, it all begins and ends.
His life in the fields of ice, running along on four limbs, feasting on seals, the encroaching summer warmth. The rays of sky lights, the abduction, the rebirth. His years as Keeper, the many miles walked, the battles won. His last awakening, the foulness that seeped it's way into his domain, and his death at it's hands.
He might have failed, but he gave it his best, and that is all They asked.

The alabaster warrior sinks deeper into the ever-growing water.

Wait, I thought your current HP was 41 PLUS the 18. If you'd actually already added the 18 to your hp then that was . . . significantly more brutal than I'd planned :/

Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

You don't have Raging Vitality? Crap. I would have done what I'm going to do next turn earlier if I'd known you'd die at -1. =/

As Aught falls, the monster sends a growling note of triumph into the heads of the great Keeper's companions. "You were not ready for me - you are weaker, I sense. Which of you will perish next? Is it worth your time to battle me, when you could be trying to escape Carcosa? Give me the book and be gone!"

Looking down at Aught's body, you see the glimmering from his wounds does not seem to fade. In fact, its waves of prismatic energy seem to be brightening, clashing with the harsh light of the twin yellow suns. A faint, clean odor like fresh-fallen snow wafts into the nostrils of Suchak and Horn.

Podrick is up! Followed shortly by Horn.

"It is not coming here. Here is going there," the thing sends. You detect a trace of unease in its demeanor, however, when it looks down at Aught's glowing body.

"That...is not good. Much less bad than it could be, now I think of it."

"Wait, do you mean "here" as in the playhouse is going here, or "here" as the whole planet is going there?"

Suchak spares a glance at Aught.

Hope he's okay. Never seen him do that before.

I can't remember, is it an action to use Heal to tell if someone's dead?

Yeah, it was with the 18hp included. Honestly, I thought it was totally bad ass so I wasn't even upset or anything lol. Still really interested to see how everything plays out.

"Aught, no..." Covering a strangled cry, Podrick gestures at the monster. "Your eyes to be full of the blackest ink!"

Unless I've made a knowledge check that says he has blindsense/etc-
Blindness on him, DC 19

Suchak - as far as I remember, there aren't any rules on it. Maybe DC 20 to evaluate him while not adjacent, as a free action.

Podrick, the monster doesn't have eyes, and though you haven't yet attempted the Knowledge (dungeoneering) check, watching it in battle it is pretty obvious that it doesn't have any other kinds of light-sensing organs to blind. You can swap out that spell if you want.

Horn sees Aught knocked from the air and cries out "No!" He leaves his elementals to continue pummeling the aberration while he flies down to examine his fallen companion.

Seeing the monster's eyelessness, Podrick curses it with deafness, hoping at least that will have some effect. He doesn't remember anything about this kind of monster, but again he notices his magic sliding off of it like water on wax.

Podrick CL: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19

Horn's whirling wind-forms pummel the monster, but though one scores a lucky blow it is unable to deal lasting damage to the creature's unnatural flesh. Flying down, he sees his friend's spine has been partly ripped out, but that great pulses of rainbow light shine from the wound. The light collides with that from the alien suns, turning the dark water green and blue and red and violet and making the air itself seem to glow as if from an aurora. Suddenly, the room rings with a single, pure note, and the distorted space of the portal crushes in on itself in a flash of white light. When the light fades, everything on stage - the bodies of Sophia, Merdak, Enoch, and the thing from the lake, along with two of Horn's summoned velocijakks, the throne, and the brackish water - has utterly vanished, leaving only sodden wood. Pisn screams in your heads, but seems unaffected by the portal's end.

Suchak spends some time focusing himself to regain his Maneuvers.

Full Round action to recover Fading Leap and Iron Knuckle. Trade Iron Knuckle for Dizzying Venom Prana as a Swift. Ac is boosted by 4(?) for this round.

The frog-like monster turns its tentacled head towards Suchak, its muscles rippling again. "What? You will not fight? You know, it is not too late to end this amicably."

Provoking an AOO from each of the air elementals. Since he's got the ki option I'll let Suchak roll a Will save. You may make Spellcraft checks to identify the effect.

Do we have any buffs going besides Haste? I can't remember. Also, if I were to use my Substitution Jutsu Altered Penumbra to teleport somewhere else and leave an image in my place, would that stop him from targeting me?

Spoiler:
Position is relative to the Veiled Moon disciple's thinking, and his position in the universe is mutable. Using these principles, the disciple may circumvent reality to remove himself from harms way when necessary. The initiator makes a Stealth check opposing the attacker's Perception check. If successful then the initiator may teleport to any spot within 10- ft. away from his current position and leave a minor image duplicate of himself behind to take the attack of his foe in his place. Minor images created by this counter last for 1d4 rounds or until dispersed. This ability may be used to defend against spells and effects that directly target the initiator with an attack roll (such as ranged touch effects) or for those that allow for a Reflex save. If the attack would still encompass an area to where the initiator is teleporting (such as with the fireball spell he has not vacated), the initiator would still be struck by the attack.

You have barkskin, but I think that's it apart from haste. And no, as it's not a ranged touch or Reflex attack. Feel free to edit your save into the above post.

Actually though, just realized the range's a bit too small.

Before it speaks into Suchak's head, the monster steps down about ten feet.

I don't think it saved my edit. Rolled a 6 (16 total). I'll use my Ki to boost that to a 20 and hope it's enough.

Or we can take this roll. =)
