Now the fight is over you can see more of the room. Half-melted blocks of green glass lie thick on the floor. A crumbling archway to the north leads into another chamber, while a door to the west leads into the round tower at the southwest corner of the building. To the east, a barricade of rubble and wooden stakes blocks a passage leading into the tower.

The round tower room to the left has piles of rags and bones piled up into nest-like beds around the room. There doesn't appear to be another way out of the room.

To the right is a large foyer that seems to have once been the main tower entrance, but the grand doorway leading outside is now a broken mass of glass rubble. A crumbling archway leads further off to the north.

Ganem tries to think of some way to change the strange magical darkness effect that permeates the fort. The effect seems like something once documented as being used by the ancient Azlanti to light up buildings in the day and darken them at night, but this effect seems to have gone awry after many years of neglect. It would likely take a very long time to rectify the enchantments, if indeed they could be fixed at all.

The group checks over the body of the goblin and finds various goblin sized bits and pieces of equipment.

Studded leather armour, horsechopper, shortbow, quiver of 19 arrows, small vial of liquid (magical).

I've placed a couple of tokens on the map to represent light effects. Feel free to copy and use that to show where lights are.

I moved up Brand and Evgeny to the middle of the party so they were not still outside when the combat starts

Aldy sneaks forwards silently through the darkness. As he reaches the corner to look into the next room he is surprised to see a goblin silently sneaking around the opposite corner leading his goblin dog behind him. He seems to be backed up by three more goblins just coming through a doorway leading further in to the fort.

A goblin crawls out from the barricade and tries to fire an arrow at Teeva. Two goblins from near the door move up and try to get around Aldy to flank, but he's up against a wall so they can't surround him just yet.

Teeva is delaying her action at the moment, waiting to see what the others do. May or may not take an action after Numbers and Brand, if they post and I don't see a particularly effective move, I'll delay until after the next group of Goblins. As soon as Brand and Numbers post I'll let you know.

Was the one Numbers just obliterated the Red Goblin? If not, Teeva will 5-foot Step forward and attack Red. If he did attack Red, she'll move deeper and attack Teal Goblin.

Teeva darts forward, ignoring the skin ripped from her muscle as she whips her chain forward in an attempt to dig the spikes into the Goblin's flesh. "Ahahaha! SQUEAL LITTLE PIGGY!" She cackles wildly and whirls her weapon with glee.

Evgeny prays for claws.The goblin near the barricade dies in one of the most painful snowball fights any goblin has ever seen. Brandand Teeva both aim powerful strikes at the goblin commando, but the little nimble goblin dodges on way and then the other as both attacks miss their mark.

Round 2

Two goblins stalk forwards and try to surround Brand. Ones tries to duck past and flank the dwarf. The goblin's body tumbles perfectly into a pile as Brand's waraxe chops him down. The other goblin laughs at his allies misfortune as he tries to hit the dwarf, but his sowrd is turned away by brand's armour.

Tarbin dashes into the main room, twirling his Longspear as he does. With a flourish he slides behind Brand, his spear nimbly ducking under the dwarf's arm and thrusting at the Goblin commander, attempting to slice him above the brow to force blood into his eyes.

Dirty Trick Stuff:
Cover actually doesn't give a bonus to CMD, so there's no penalty to attacking from behind Brand. On success he's blinded his next round, and 1 additional round for every 5 I beat the CMD. He can take a move action to remove the effect. Maneuvers specifically only trigger AoO from the target, so no AoO from the other Gobbo.

Blinded:The creature cannot see. It takes a –2 penalty to Armor Class, loses its Dexterity bonus to AC (if any), and takes a –4 penalty on most Strength– and Dexterity-based skill checks and on opposed Perception skill checks. All checks and activities that rely on vision (such as reading and Perception checks based on sight) automatically fail. All opponents are considered to have total concealment (50% miss chance) against the blinded character. Blind creatures must make a DC 10 Acrobatics skill check to move faster than half speed.

Round 2

Tarbin makes the goblin squeal in panic as blood gets in his eyes. Ganem casts a spell to guide Evgeny with some divine energy.

The final goblin in the large room decides to go after the dwarf too, but his armour provides too much protection for the attack to get through.

Aldy stabs twice at one of the goblins. The attacks connect but the Wayang is only strong enough to scratches the goblin a bit.

The goblin near the barricade fires another arrow, this time at No. 201113. The goblin is surprised to see the human dodge the arrow.

GM, I have an AC of 13, and if I'm reading that correctly, Blue Archer rolled a 15 attack. Did he hit, or miss?


@Teeva He'll be blind for 1 round, so yes he's still blind. It seems unfair that a mounted character can use their move action to remove that while still 'moving' on the mount, so i'm choosing not to.

@No. 201113 I realised it had hit but it seems i forgot to type out the damage roll. Thanks for pointing that out for me.

@Brand The goblin dog doesn't have reach. It attacked and stepped back then the goblin attack at reach.

Sorry if there is any confusion. There is a lot going on in this fight and it's quite easy to lose track of things. Due to the way the tactics are written you're actually fighting off three rooms worth of goblins at the same time right now!

I believe it started its turn next to you then attacked you from where Evgeny was, that's how Tarbin hit it with a dirty trick. Then it took a 5 foot step back and Evgeny moved in.

Teeva will maintain her current position and sling her chains at the Goblin commander, attempting to finish him off before he can recover.

The GREEN goblin takes a step to the side to try to avoid getting surrounded then tries to stab Aldy, but the fight is becoming a contest of dodging than a contest of stabbing.

Tarbin twirls on his heel and twists his wrist, thrusting his spear forward in unorthodox fashion in an attempt to stab at the Goblin's eyes.

Flanking from CRB:
When making a melee attack, you get a +2 flanking bonus if your opponent is threatened by another enemy character or creature on its opposite border or opposite corner.

When in doubt about whether two characters flank an opponent in the middle, trace an imaginary line between the two attackers’ centers. If the line passes through opposite borders of the opponent’s space (including corners of those borders), then the opponent is flanked.

I believed I was flanking because when a line is drawn from the center of my square to the other, it passes from the exact top left corner of the square, and ends 3/4 of the way up on the opposite side. But as always it's GM call, not trying to start trouble or anything!


I just did another search trying to find a reference to flanking with reach against a single square creature - i found a diagram from 3.5 that shows exactly this! As Pathfinder is uses the same flanking rules this is good enough for me. So from now on i'll have to remember that reach flanking can indeed work this way. I learnt something today! :)

Aldy tumbles around, which he's great at, but unfortunately all the rolling around throws off their stabbing skills.

The goblin dog and the commando pull the same attack sequence again, but this time their target is Evgeny. The bite doesn't connect but the commando gets a good hit against one of his hated enemies. I think Favoured Enemy (Longshanks) should be a valid goblin option - but human is as close as it gets.

Teeva circles back around the group of combatants, dashingly nimbly through the crowd and rapidly closing in on the green goblin. Attempting to duck the attack from her blinded target, she flanks him opposite Aldy and lashes her chain forward with a wicked cackle.

Damage: 2d4 + 6 ⇒ (2, 1) + 6 = 9

I will trigger an AoO, but Teeva now has an AC of 19 and he's blinded. So Teeva does have total concealment against his attack.

Blind creatures treat enemies as having total concealment. Concealment doesn't allow AoOs. It's not the easiest thing to find a ruling on but that seems to be the way it works.

Teeva moves past the blinded goblin then slices him to death with her chain.

No.201113 hurls another snowball, but the goblin commando barely stays conscious and holding on to his goblin dog mount.
